Hey Jared I hope your keeping an eye on the cabinet around the water kettle. We noticed that the steam it produces has permanently fogged our solid black walnut wood cabinets. That being said. it probably will make quick work out of particle board or MDF cabinets. It's best to pull that Ketel away from the cabinets and let the steam vent to the larger open room.
Also: instead of the ninja, we use a Magic Bullet! they take up very little space and are easy to clean up with if you fill the cup with soap and water and give it a spin and then rinse..

      Great info.
A few thoughts after 29 years of RVing…
      1) Keep a light rubber band on the arm of the paper towel holder… when you have a breeze coming through the rig (our towel holder is right by the door) just pul the band over the roll the paper towels won’t blow or unroll.
      2) Poster putty in the stationary dept is GREAT for every wall or counter item to stay stable during travel
      3) Get curtain tension rods which are much cheaper than RV tension rods for your fridg or cabinets. Have a few extra for the shower when drying wet clothes.
      4) water filter pitcher!!! It makes the best ice too
      5) our first Corelle plates are still in use and I have a basket in the cabinet that allows me to stand the plates on end (I put a paper plate in between each plate) and the bowls sit flat with cups all together. At meal time I can just pull the basket out or easily grab a plate etc.
      6). HAVE FUN!!!

If you have a lid for your Yeti Mug, you can use it as an egg separator. The egg whites will exit thru the sipping hole into the mug or small bowl while the egg yolk remains on top.

If you are having trouble with paper towels unrolling when you drive, try twisting large rubber bands onto the horizontal holder bar. I use #84 or 64 for their bulk until it is near 1/4 inch smaller than the towel tube. That helps on the road and when tearing off a sheet as it minimizes the freewheeling roll.

When you have power, an Induction cooker is great for the RV. It doesn’t heat up the RV and it’s very fast. It also is low power since the temperature can be controlled so well from 140 to 400 deg F. Duxtop is only $50 something.

I don’t find the velcro strap on my paper towels too annoying. My little travel trailer “oven” however, is TOTALLY useless. We can’t get anything to cook right in it. The flame is right below the food so the bottom is burnt to a crisp, while the top is still raw, and we have a thermometer and the temp is way out of control. So it’s now storage for the pots and pans sadly. I’d like to swap it for a toaster oven but it’s built in with the stove! lol.

Same here, if I bake, I use a dutch oven outside. A little dishwasher under the cooktop would be fantastic.
I made a mesh rack and put it between the cooktop and the microwave, I put my toaster oven and insta pot on it. Being mesh, I just put a few bungee cords on the stuff to keep them in place. I always put the ice maker on the floor in front of the stove while we travel.

I make a lot of rice at home. But it doesn't have to take up space on your stovetop. Well, it does ... at first. I make mine by first bringing the water to a boil. If you're making a cup of rice (usually enough for my wife and me for a single meal), you want to boil slightly less than a cup of water, like 7/8 of a cup. Get it boiling real well, then toss in the rice and give it a stir. As soon as the water starts boiling again. remove the pan rom the heat and set it aside. It doesn't have to be on the stove. If you have a trivet that can protect your counter from the hot pan, you can set it anywhere. Then, ignore the pan and continue with the rest of the meal. By the time everything else is ready (or 5-10 minutes, if you prefer), the rice will be ready.
We use the "minute rice" variety, available in brand names and many grocery chains carry their own house brand. It all works as good as any other. At my house, the rice comes out perfect every time. Now, I live at high altitude, between 7 and 8 thousand feet above sea level, so the amount of water or the time required may have to be adjusted elsewhere. But this method is simple and, once the water is boiling, frees up that burner to be used some other way.

I also carry an Instantpot with airfryer in it and my 40 year old Osterizer Blender with the food chopper attachment. Im full time and also use a BabyQ for BBQ. Depends on if I have shore power or am using my solar. For total boodocking I use some propane stove/oven. Love my collapsible colander/dish drainer. The cabinet door panel that I use for a stove top cover to add counter space and keep the stovetop dust free is priceless! :) Oh, and the usb tent fan that I hang for extra ventilation is awesome and super quiet.

Great tips about your fav kitchen tools. I love all your videos; we have used many of your tips and acquired many of you’re suggested items.
One question I have, what is your favorite portable air compressor? I’m looking for a Father’s Day present for my husband. Thanks Jared!

Great ideas. I use my NuWave induction electric cook top and my NuWave Oven....both use minimal electric power and helps reduce the amount of propane I use. Also, keeps RV much cooler in the summer when cooking in extreme temperatures!

    Good day!
As a fellow bacon lover try cooking the bacon in your Air Frier, that's the only way I cook it now, less grease/less mess, Unless I have my Camp-Chef Griddle setup outside for the longer stays. I have one of the round Air Fryers with the pull out tray not for sure if the one you have is that easy to clean.
    Love the channel!

How does the reverse osmosis system iwork out if not used for a 2 week period? We’re weekend campers every other week and struggle to find a filter system that doesn’t get “funky” if not cycled for a week or two.
Curious the longest you have let it sit with water in the system and the first time used after that downtime. Thanks, Ryan

I am curious as well. We have a Culligan system in our home, and that system specifically states if its sits for more then 7 days, to run the water for 15 minutes.

I love RADA knives and brought all of mine when we went full time back in 2020 and they have a sharpener that I have used for years. This sharpener can be used for any type of knife except scalloped edge and I use it all the time.
    We love your videos Jared!
    Thank you!

Question, since you took out the microwave what do you use for venting of cooking or baking? Seems like you would allow a lot of steam and vapors to remain in the trailer. Just curious.

We us the microwave a fair bit but did want air frying capabilities too, so we went with the Ninja FD302. Basically an air fryer and instapot in one device. Works great and is a good combination device.

Loved your video as always. We have one of those portable ice makers and my complaint with them is the ice does not get a good hard freeze so it melts quite quickly. What I do is dump it out on a cookie tray and put it in the freezer. When it is good and hard it goes into a bowl in the freezer and that is where we use the ice from.

Great Video. We use our microwave/convection oven in our 28BH more than the propane oven. The convection temp is much more accurate. The propane unit is used when boon-docking. I do have an appointment at Vroom to get the big slide upgraded.

Love the splatter guard! My Class C doesn’t have an oven and I really missed baking. Omnia stovetop oven to the rescue! I’ve baked everything from brownies to lasagna in it and they all come out great! It works on any type of cooktop except for an induction stove. Compact and easy to store too!

Spatter Dome, what a mess that must be to clean, you could wipe down the walls in a few seconds once a week, I'll pass. Nixing the micro for a multi-use oven is a great idea. Mr. Clean does not have such an elaborate water treatment system, wow, over the top maybe, lol. Moving the rack up in oven, I'll give that a try.

I’ll stick to Corelle instead of Melamine. Never had any breakage in over 120,000 towed miles. Old scratched Melamine dishes can trap bacteria and release chemicals.

Jared, I’m considering replacing the microwave with a toaster oven. One question, did you anchor the oven in the microwave opening? Just wondering if it bounces around in transit. Thx

  • @judyross182
    @judyross182 Год назад

I would opt for a convection microwave, for "double-duty" as mine acts as a range hood, as well. I also have a convection toaster oven and I would be concerned were it in a cabinet like yours as mine gets very hot and I always pull it out from under the cabinet when I use it (not in an RV).
I like the idea of a griddle however, I would use a BIG electric skillet as it is more versatile.

Adding mass to the oven through a pizza stone or pizza steel can help with baking. In an old rv that I stayed in for 6 months I added this and I was able to bake all sorts of breads and pastries after figuring out the temperature.
