We've noticed some frustration around this video so we have re-made it! Click here for the updated version 👉 ruclips.net/video/nKEeDa3NHK0/видео.html
Tried to connect my system to new router wifi with an ethernet cord… it worked u til i u plugged the cord and it went nack to not recognizing the system, what am i doing wrong? I did step by step.
I agree. ridiculous !
You bet. Your speakers are a heap of crap. Money down the drain. Never again.
I’ve had the opposite experience and find it super easy.
Your product is shit that's the frustration. How hard is it to connect to a wifi network, my extender does it in two seconds
Sonos has to be hands down, the most ridiculously and unnecessarily difficult speaker to set up. I've come across several different instructions on how to do this. Sort it out lads. It doesn't need to be such a pain.
And as much as I protest my partner who bought sonos will never admit I'm right.
It’s so terrible don’t buy them they fall off the network alll the time and they are flat out a** to get back connected….. pleas don’t buys these trust me.
@@Coolvo113 Partner insisted. I protested cause I wanted to use a control like my TV. So we & sister in law pay hundreds of dollars to have someone come around to reset. It's a mad mad mad mad world.
agreed, last Sonos speakers I will own.
pure cancer
New business idea: speakers with exact sound as Sonos but easy to set up.
This will make you millions.
It's true. I'd have them everywhere. Went for Bose instead. Because EASY AF.
This is exactly what I was thinking hahaha
Love these products but wow what a headache sometimes 🤯
Facts !
Yes so annoying
Too true
I have server anger issues and I'm really withholding the urge to peg my uckin sonos into a wall or off my balcony
Took me 5 hours to do a full reset on a new Wi-Fi Ughh got there in the end
Adding any sonos speaker to a new Wi-Fi router is an exercise guaranteed to to drive you mad,!
Omfg! It sure is
Yes, I couldn't agree more. Especially in 2021. This video is completely out of date and useless.
ruclips.net/video/k7afuOK5kw0/видео.html
Managed, but it is true the app sucks.
How is this company still in business
how tf can I open settings if the app won’t let me do anything if i’m not connected to a Sonos
Who creates a speaker that can't connect to bluetooth? What if you want to take it to your friends house to play music? What if you move? What kind of engineers didn't think of this simple design flaw?
Narcissictic ones. I'm about to throw this ish out the window.
The initial set-up of my sonos system was a breeze but God forbid you should ever change your network. What a nightmare.
i am having the same issue! My playbar is not connecting to the new network and I cannot reach the router ethernet cable to the sonos device like how he described..
Yes bro your right now I cannot connect my Sonos to wifi if I try to d
Connect they keep saying wrong password
@@arielnuarin9121 Yes! That’s what keeps happening to me. Did you get it to work?
Anyone solve this ? Please
It's literally the worst experience in the world to reconnect to a new network
Yes I will go ahead and disconnect 12 wall mounted devices because I changed my router. That’s not annoying at all!!
I had Alexa, ring cameras, nest thermostat, hue Phillips, PlayStation, even my Romba reconnect wirelessly to the new router with zero issues.
This is ridicilous. How on earth you cant choose manually which wifi you want to join
Fax and y can't they add Bluetooth
Or chromecast
truly a bad and highly incompetent group
It creates something called mesh for the temp network(I think it's own little protocol within your connection)
This is such a massive flaw! You can connect wirelessly day 1 but need a cable to change password or network!
Thank you! I totally agree...this is RIDICULOUS.
Asinine...glad I have an extra cable!
Exactly this, and so my Sonos is now a dated irrelevant piece of junk that I won’t bother with, as I want to be able to jump my Sonos back and forth between my home and work WiFi.
I totally agree!
@@beav15 which speaker are you talking about?
This video is six years old and still very helpful. Why isn't this on the current app/install??? The current 2023 app is useless without this info!!!
You guys make this very difficult. Very unclear in incomplete in the directions and not user friendly.
now i know why i won it , it does sound good but a complete p.o.s
How to connect to WiFi... Use a wire.
I'm glad I found this video. I bought a new router today and was pulling my hair out trying to connect my play 1's to it.
This process does not work when you have multiple Sonos devices connected in a group
Just bought a house with a sonos system installed. It was working for the previous owners but after spending hours trying to get it running again including calls to sonos and paying a tech I’m giving up. Thanks sonos for creating an incredible complex user unfriendly POS. P.S. the reset, Ethernet cable etc where all a wast of time. Sonos cannot detect the network even when it’s connected to the router
I don’t have one of those wires so I’m screwed thanks bro
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Thank you man ! This was a great correct explanation. I had 5 Sonos speakers, and none of them were working after a setup a a mesh wifi network. After following your instructions, everything is working fine just like before. Many many thanks and keep up the good work !!!
I don’t have a router in my room or Ethernet cable, now I am fucked! Thank you Sonos !🙄
I was just about to switch back to my old wifi carrier due to not being able to reconnect my Sonos System. After watching your video, my Sonos is now connected. THANKS!!
THANK YOU! This information exists nowhere on the website or in Sonos Support. In fact, the information on the Sonos site is completely incorrect. It's insanity.
Super helpful ! Thank you so much !
It seems that Sonos expects that we all live in the same place, with the same wifi forever - not many people do, and even then it's likely that routers etc will be upgraded .... so PLEASE make it easer to update this from the app. I gave up after many hours of following online help, and did a Factory Reset. It's all working fine now, but that was a lot of time ... and I'm above-average IT literate.
I am 75 years old, LOVE my Sonos Beam. Recently downsized form our large house to a coop and upon getting a new WIFI address am unable to configure my Sonos Beam. I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to do. Tried connecting directly to router and it appears I am doing this incorrectly. SONOS please you are a terrific company please make this easier. I was able to reestablish my Boston Acoustics and Bose sound systems with no difficulty. My Beam simply does not reestablish to new WIFI settings,
So easy to change it! Thanks!
I agree! Spent hours on that problem and still haven‘t a working system.
Excellent I thought I had lost all my system. you made it so simple
Tell me what in particular you learnt and how it helped. Otherwise maybe your comment is a fake comment?
Such a pain. What did it for me was deleting the app and re-installing. There, I was given the chance to add the Amp back onto my Wifi and do a fresh install. Really don't like the idea that I need internet / wifi to play records
Needed the help setting up my old s1 sonos, thank you !
Ryan
What remote do i need to play my sonos playbar and my tcl six series tv
Also worth mentioning: the router firewall settings cause the app to not pick up the Sonos WIFI during setup. I had an Optimum router. Replaced it, and connected without any issues
Why cant i connect the speaker to my phone then connect it to the wifi from there?? My $15 smart plugs are capable of doing that. New apartment and wifi comes with apartment and the wall ports apparently arent sufficient so now i have expensive paper weights
You have the most unfriendly UI ever! It is a nightmare for simple WiFi router change.
I’ve been trying to connect my Galaxy A6 to 3 Sonos Play speakers for almost 3 months now. Works for 5 mins then cuts out. I’ve even had the speakers all connected by Ethernet cable and no sonos won’t show up on the Galaxy!!! I’ve just wasted €500-€700!!!! No music! I wish I didn’t buy them now.
its crap
Thank you so much for the info. I tried so many times with no luck until I lésas your video.👏👏👍👍
Thanks I will give it a try
Superb explanation , well done. Clear and concise.
If you hold the play and volume up buttons as you plug in the sonos, it will reset after a few seconds and allow you to connect to a new network. Hope this helps
Wish Sonos could have made that info easier to find!!!!
WHY IS SONOS NOT USER FRIENDLY?! My husband has been trying to connect our speakers for the past 2 hours with help of customer service. This is ridiculous!!!
I'm following the steps as directed, however I'm having a problem with the app settings. I lost the settings page. So I had to upload the app again. It ask whether I want to setup a new or existing product, either way I'm having issues. It keeps saying no device/speaker found. What am I doing wrong with the app so I could getting to the advanced settings options. Please advise. Thanks for anyone help. Anthony
Hi Anthony - I’m in the situation as you with my Sonos. Have you solved it? If so, what did you do so I can try the same? Thanks.
Get that as gift..after one hour to set it..gave up, then gave it back to the store then took a bose 😎
1 min the setting 👌
Guys, if you have the money, go for a Bowers and Wilkins hi-fi setup, or monitor audio, all you really need from Sonos is their connect amp as it can use streaming services. Sonos is unreliable. A wired connection is always stronger and will always supersede a wireless connection!
thank you
What worked best for me was to restart my stereos down to factory settings (unplug the power for 10 sec and hold down the pause button). That allowed me to connect wirelessly. Frustrating that I couldn't just change it with a click in the app.
So if I don’t have a router in my apartment I can’t use my speakers. Thanks for making such a great product 🖕🏼
You guys! I found the solution. If you have a Sonos One SL all you have to do is:
1. Unplug the speaker
2. Hold down the infinity button in the back before you plug it back into the wall and don’t let go!
3. It will blink white but you must still be holding down the infinity button until it blinks orange.
4. Once it’s blinking orange, you let go of the button. It will then blink green.
5. Boom! It’s now reseted to factory settings and ready to connect to a new wifi.
Mind you, I connected my speaker to my new wifi using the Ethernet cord. Hope it works for those who don’t have an Ethernet cord!
THIS IS THE ANSWER! I don’t know how you don’t have thousands of likes. Thanks!
You saved a life today!
who else is here because their wife decided to change the ISP to save $3 a month
😊
Sonos, I have upgraded my wifi and you are telling me I need to retrieve every speaker, plug it into my network and reset up the wifi, then replace them in original location. Sounds easy. Do you have any idea how long that is going to take me for each speaker in my house! For the love of god, you created the best wifi speaker on the market, I can have my friends playing their newly discovered music on my system in under 3 minutes, etc… But I need to go through all that after upgrading my wifi!! Omg. Just lazy guys. You should fix this with software! This is my only complaint with Sonos. Is still awesome, but it will take me at least 2 hours to accomplish today.
I have a 3 channel router and an extender, with a Sonos 1 ,3 and 5 and 3 Connects the systems get convoluted and don't show up together. Is there something you could recommend me doing?
what i found to work was completely disconnecting all of your sonos devices by returning to factory setting. then i all connected it again and it worked perfectly. it may be a bit annoying, but it's well worth it.
@@sammylmao9992 how did you reset them to factory?
This was THE EXACT information that I needed. Very grateful for the video. Thank you. Happy days
So how will I be able to reconnect my Beam (then my two One's and sub eventually) if I've moved, and the wifi router is upstairs in my landlords area?
Important missing step: Disable the old network, if you're running both networks. I've upgraded my network and am slowly moving things off the old network prior to it being disconnected. With both networks available, Sonos seems to always seek out the original and won't see the new one. Disabling the old network makes the wired speaker discoverable.
7years ago this may have worked. The current app is definitely substandard when it comes to changing Internet services and reconnecting.
Great news
I don't have a sonos product
Just switched networks. Plugged into Ethernet and removed old network. Then proceeded to connect new network. Worked
Setting up a Gen 1 Play 5 and Gen 1 bridge i impossible!!!! I have factory reset all Sonos components but I have no way of adding a bridge to my system. The app just responds with must be connected with ethernet cable (and yes this is present) when I press the button on the bridge. This is so frustrating!!!!!!!
This is not helpful at all!
You don't address what to do if: 1. Network is in a standard setup but I want to put it back into Boost mode and my Boost isn't recognized by the app. The Boost has been previously configured. The S1 app can't find the Boost; I've tried rebooting router and Boost (connected to router), resetting Boost, and every troubleshooting step I can locate online and all have failed.
I have the Sonos move and the IKEA Sonos picture frames. Neither are showing up on my new network. The Sonos move doesn’t have an ethernet port to connect to the router. It’s all wireless. How do I make the new network?
Best way I found reset your products my case sub and two speakers to factory setting easy unplug hold button in flashes red go on the app reconnect from start took 10 mins I got a new router what a hassle trying other way
NOTHING says advanced setup in settings! To old & should be able to WiFi with a new Router by just connecting an Ethernet cable to new router...?
I bought this a few years ago and it has been a total pain. Every time I go to play It takes me an hour to go through the set up process again even though I have changed nothing! Great sound but I wish I never bought it.
The most infuriating products
OMG you're the man!! Thank you so much.
every single day i regret getting a sonos
my sonos app looks nothing like that, no spot for advanced settings
My Ethernet cable is connected but still can’t find my product. Fuck!!!
Sounds good, after getting through the nightmare that conecting it to your smartphone is...still waiting for an answer from SONOS SERVICE!
It’s a miracle anybody thought this was a good idea
M returning all of my songs today done with it
how do I get my pc to play thru Sonos. I need to play my teams meetings thru Sonos
This app is BRUTAL
What should I press next of the green light is flashing??
I'm going through the setup steps because of a new router. I enter the router password(which is correct) and it tells me its incorrect. It works for every other device but not my sonos. What to do?
Any product that has "easy to set up" in its description has one of these vague videos because because it only connects when it feels like it.
The 1990's have called and they want their Ethernet cable connection procedure back. Yeah I don't think Sonos R&D really thought this one through. Fancy having to plug the speaker into a new router to connect to WiFi...wow.
Why do we need to use an Ethernet cable to connect a wireless speaker to a network? How archaic is this system?
Finally change from BT to new provider. Had Sonos for years thne i found this problem. First solution plug a network cable into the playbar. This found everything on the sonos network. Sub and Play1 upstairs. Works great. But as the video says wireless needs to be setup. However this video is 5 years old and Advanced settings etc doesn't exist in the new app S2. So i think the only way to do that is to reset the entire system. Not going to do that myself as cable works fine.
My playbase will connect only when directly wired. I’ve gone through wireless setup, and it keeps saying Wrong Password! (It was previously on a different network.)
i wish sonos was just a regular bluetooth speaker. i got it for my birthday and it is so hard to make it consistently work so i just gave up
Nice clip. My Sonos Move doesn’t have an Ethernet port 😟
So now I have to find an ethernet cable? I can't believe the app does not allow me to just pick another wifi network (like I can for so many other bluetooth devices).
yep initial set-up of my sonos system is easy but I changed my network and I never got the sonos working
i don't have an internet cable that long and I don't want to unmount my player from the wall. is there no reasonable way to reconnet?
Have u tried to hold ⏯️ and volume up button together
My router is not in the same room. How should I connect the speaker with a cable!??
I recently got a new Sonos move, and want to add it to my existing system, but I don't see the product on the Sonos app where I set up my other speakers. I followed the initial trouble shooting steps- unplug and replug, make sure Sonos move is on charging cradle etc, but nothing is working. Help please? 😊
We recently remade this video - ruclips.net/video/nKEeDa3NHK0/видео.html - hope it helps!
@@smarthomesounds we got it working, appreciate your response🙂
Also had issues. Tried hard resetting the router, but it still required an ethernet cable to setup wifi connection again. Finally reinstalled the app and did the whole setup process from scratch and this worked. Cumbersome work for the simple mistake of changing router...
Do you NEED the ethernet cable?
I go through this aggravation EVERY time I move. Phoning support ends up not being much help as they know more about selling the product than how it actually works. When they're good they're very very good but when they're bad they're horrid. Wouldn't buy them again and definitely can't recommend them.
big w's ryan
It's worth remembering that all devices including software are only on a trial here on earth 🌎 and only the best will make it to interstellar travel and work 50 billion miles from earth
Can you give me a number to call for help please. Had a change in Wi-Fi systems - the app keeps trying to connect to old system and won’t let me get to the settings section. I have two speakers and the base unit. Really need help
My sonos app looks different than yours. I don’t have a way to click settings then advance setting. My living room play at stopped working because we changed wifi name.
What if you travel abroad and using Wi-Fi in a hotel ?
Bro can you help I lose connection to my wifi then when o try to connect again they say is wrong password for the wifi I never change the password of the wifi hope you can help me thanks a lot
Your Product is like Microsoft Windows - just wanna use it for a few minutes but when I turn it on it needs to process bloody updates.
How about Sonos Move, this does not have ethernet connection?
Hummm the wifi networked was changed, hence the speaker is not connected to the internet… so what do I do?
