Thank you! This absolutely worked. So weird that even Sonos doesn’t tell you this information haha
After 2 days of messing about trying to get my early play1 to reconnect I smashed it with a hammer and moved to Google speakers instead. Much easier!
I might do the same thing.
Can you help me. I am trying the above and holding till infinity but the damn orange flashing light won’t turn to green
Thank you so much!! Like previous comments, Sonos did not mention this step as well. I finally got my speakers working again! Thank you thank you thank YOU!!!

Nice video, thanks for sharing. I found that once the pilot light started flashing orange I could release the buttons and the light still changed to flashing green.

I just found one in the bin. I plugged it in but the white light was flashing then stopped. Could not get it to connect with any appliances at home like my phone. So i factory reset like the video. And the lights have done the same. I then unplugged it and. Left it for a while, then after half-hour i plugged it back in the light it flashing slowly on green. I guess its ok. Just waiting for some commands Etc... Etc...?
Thanks for the easy explanation and to the point video. Perfectly executed
2024 and it work just listen and follow the steps
Great tutorial!....Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
These speakers are absolute nightmares. They constantly disconnect from your wifi.
Agreed!!
I've had six of these speakers for 7 years now. Too expensive to throw away, yet too complicated to keep up with updates & connectivity issues. And absolutely useless customer service.
Mine lives in a garbage dump somewhere
I have sonos for 8-9 years now, and have never experienced any form of disconnecting.
The app is absolutely horrible. The old Sonos S1 app was great that new brown piece of crap however. The volume control functions are terrible and then five minutes later out of no where the bitch goes full volume and becomes totally unresponsive again. Ugh
Very helpful. I tried to connect to a new WiFi router and couldn’t because the speakers needed to be reset.
Great to hear! Thanks for watching.
Good evening don't know if you could help me out but I have a old play 5 1st generation I'm trying to connect and I am not able to do so what do I need to do ?
Just got a second hand Sonos Play1, tried the reset as described here but the white light just stays on?
I followed your video and now all I have is the blinkin green light, how long will it blink before it stops?
Will this work for play:5?
Mine doesn’t turn green it turned orange but not green
Same
if you can’t reset it, what else can you do, can it be done in some other way
I love you. Thank you. You are a dove from above
What if the green light don’t appear
Tanks
Starting a war?
Prison Mike?
did it both ways (play+up and play only) and neither worked for me, it’s just a white flashing light.
Help. i've spent hours trying to get my speakers to work with the new app. i can't seem to factory reset...following all the videos and online support from sonos. the app also logs me in/out and i can't seem to stop that. any tips? thank you!
My Sonos Play 1 speaker must have blown out, as resetting does not eliminate the severe noise distortion (rumbling).
But could you show me how to fix sonostube error code 11 idk how to fix it everytime we wanna play something it come error code 11
Fyi you only need to hold the play/pause or mute button - not two at once.
Genius!
Mine is just blinking green and wont connect
I was only getting an Orange blinking light, never Green. And while it would go through the setup process, it would never play the chime sound (Audio pin).
After connecting an ethernet cable it worked for me like this:
1. Connect an ethernet cable to your Sonos Play 1, and to your internet enabled router or switch
2. Plug in power while holding Play/Pause (also holding Volume + wasn't necessary for me)
3. Wait for the light to blink Orange
4. Release the button and wait a few minutes. It will blink White for a bit and then will turn Green.
Once you have a green light it should connect properly when setting up, and play the chime audio pin.
Yes. Flashing orange but not green. Going to try your Ethernet method now. Hope it works!
@@gustavmergins2174 Hope it worked.
@@johncarr6073Yes! This worked… Hooked up with Ethernet cable and followed your instructions. Finally got green light. Was able to unplug and Now using wirelessly. Have you done a video. Could be helpful!
@@gustavmergins2174 Great. Yeah it took me 2 days to find that out after looking through community forums. Sonos doesn't not include it in their instructions.
Thank you so much!!! Was about to return the speaker bought second hand until this comment!!
I accidentally upgraded my Sonos 1 software. I can't get the 'old' software back. Now I have three sets of speakers reduced to scrap. I will never buy Sonos again.
I totally sympathize. Every few months or so, my Sonos system completely screws up and acts like it’s poccessed. I spend a bunch of time trying to reset everything - it never goes smoothly.
The good news is that eventually things get back on track but the bad news is, within a few months it’ll be messed up again.
Scrap?!
Me too. Just bought a business and scrap ssss sono 1. Take me 2 days to setting up and after 2 month I have to set it up again…what is the fff on the world sono sss
Of course my never turned green 🤣🤣🤣
Mine either
This didn't work for me. My light still keeps blinking orange.
Mine won’t reset just stays orange
