In "fatal device hardware error" there will be no drive letter assigned, these methods don't apply. The video is misleading and does not solve the problem. Avoid the video and save your time.
I think you first need to "create and format hard drive partitions" or just name one that already exists but not easy to find there is a youtube video on this.
when disk is unknown / not intialized not showing in disk management all what you are telling here is useless as you cant even see hard disk changing letter or chkdsk is impossible as cmd doesnt show hard disk... i dont understand what you are talking about...!!
I was just having and issue where the SO was not able to detect the drive ever. If you are using an adapter and you didn´t make sure that it is compatible with the right kind of M2 ssd, between SATA or NVMe, you will never be able to get the drive working. If you are installing into the Motherboard, same thing, make sure your SSD is of the right type.
@@oscargalindo6512 I do using an adapter that came with WD My Passport External Drive. I cant using HDD Enclosure's because the hdd board is soldered into disc drive.
These videos have no idea what they’re talking about… they have a healthy working hard drive and just right click their own drive and it pops up clearly. If they were having problems like we are having we might actually have a solution
I needed to update my usb port(external hardware) then I could see the drive letter, Yet nothing was there in my files so I did #4 changed drive letter and AMAZING. I did restart and physically removed the drive and reattached it and everything works! thank you.
I’ve been watching your tutorials for quite some time. However, my problem seems to be a little bit worse than the above mentioned it. I received the fatal hardware error, but I cannot see my drive and file Explorer. And when I go to initialize it, I get an error once again. For some reason, my windows 10 pro machine I can’t seem to get this drive to be read by anything. If anyone has any helpful tips, I will gladly take them.
If you cannot access the disk through FE and you cannot initialize in Disk Management, run hardware diagnostics in BIOS. Also you can try to get into Windows Recovery to run disk repair. I could not initialize a computer’s C drive and I fixed it by running diagnostics in BIOS.
Nope, because it does not work on 2 computers, it is a new WD drive. I can see it in the Device manager, the driver is from 2006. WD does not provide driver updates
all the fixes you listed involve selecting the drive but the drive isn't visible because it's not initialized and attempting to initialize the drive is when the device fatal error message pops up. I tried running the wmic tool and I keep getting a "no alias" message
This worked for me(win10): Go to device manager, under disk drives right click the one you can't access, click properties go to "Volumes" click the button "Populate" this will initialize disk and allow you to go to Disk Management and give the drive a letter so you can access it.
Doesn`t work because the drive is not showing up in the file manager, I can see it in the Device manager. It is a new drive. And WD does not provide any driver update. What is installed is from 2006.
I can't see my external hard drive on my windows computer i checked device manager it shows up there is only when I go to disk manager it prompts me to initialize disk and when i try to do that that when i get the error

hi, i need some more help with my hard disk. all these steps are not working out. i cannot see the hard drive folder in MY PC. it shows 'not initialised' when i go to do that it shows fatal device error pls help.
my drive isn't showing up in the this PC section. I tried to clean it and that worked but making partition it fails. and in the create and format hard disk partitions it says unknown not initialized when I try to initialize it says Request Failed Due to a Fatal Device Hardware Error. what do I do
If you have A ps4 or xbox. Connect the HDD and let the system format it. You'll be able to see it on your pc afterwards. Sounds crazy, I know. It DEFINITELY WORKS. None of this on the video if you can't see it.
Another copy/paste youtube vid 🤣🤣 a drive with fatal hardware error isn't recognized to begin with to do the other crap, ie: drive letter not shown. More sales clickbait
I found a real solution on how to fix this, I discovered it myself. This won’t be for everybody because I know everybody doesn’t own one of these but if you have a gaming console, just plug up the hard drive to it and format the drive as “extended storage”. Once you do that unplug it, plug it back to PC, go to disk management, on the left click “initialise” on your hard drive, assign a letter & you’re good to go! Unfortunately it will delete all your data but it’s the only solution I found to fix the hard drive than needing a new one or watching videos that don’t help. Anyone wondering this is my steps I did once I got the error message: Step 1: Unplug the hard drive. Step 2: Plug it into PS4 Step 3: Format it as “extended storage”. Step 4: Unplug & plug back into PC. Step 5: Go to “Disk management”. Step 6: On the bottom, click your hard drive, right click it & push “initialise”. Step 7: Assign a new letter to it. There ya go! Also, I’m sure this works with other devices as well not just gaming consoles. Anything that will ask you a prompt to format your drive on whatever you’re using, just accept format and put it back in pc and it should work that way too.
@xxninjastarz4508 Yup but if it’s this damaged I think it’s better to lose it than have the storage unusable. I thought I would have to buy a whole new one but I didn’t thankfully. Losing data sucks but it’s better than having to waste money on a new one
