So often do we take without giving a thank you and it’s become almost a ‘norm’ to just ‘RUclips or Google it’ to find something and use it without a second’s thought. We forget the time and effort taken into putting something together and then placing it, free, for all to use as they wish. Same, and I had already learned this finger picking style previously so it was an easy transition. Spent hours today without noticing since the toon is soo soothing.
I remember this was the first song i learned to play in guitar when i was a kid and i was going to lessons in the church. I was like 9yo and this song took the whole summer along with music lessons for a single presentation.
Now i got a guitar again in my hands more than 20 years later and im getting back to it. Already got a couple songs and practicing this one.

One of the first things I learned on guitar was Travis picking, and honestly, 10 years later, I realize it's such a great way to learn. It immediately unlocks a ton of songs (that actually sound advanced), which is not just very cool but also adds a lot to morale when learning.

Learning this song is fundamental! learing that fingerpicking patter alone is usefull for any cord progression and its in a lot of songs.
This is a very useful tutorial ! I did find a small error. Where is says “All my dreams”. It should have a G/B over “my”. He plays it, and it’s on the chord graph, however it is missed on the tab. No big deal, it still the best tutorial I’ve seen, thanks.

Thank you for sharing this tutorial lesson, i really love this song...as i attended a cremation of the remained of a fellow OFW here in UAE. This song comes into my mind, as the cremator handed the ashes to the family...a great lesson in the Bible from ashes we came and to ashes we returned.

this channel makes my fingers trained, only 1 to 3 looks is enough for me to memorize the plucking.

Try to discover the notes acentuated

Try gently plucking 2 different open strings to get the feel, and the numbers represent the fret number from the neck, and where your fingers should go. Also the "o" means open string, meaning your fret hand not touching the string to be plucked, just pay attention which notes , strings these are. Been playing piano/keys for 40 years (singer/songwriter). Decided to try my hand at accoustic guitar. Signed up for lessons and a few months in realized I was being tought classical not contemporary (maybe I should have been a tad more specific regarding my goals to my instructor). I switched to contemporary style which also included picking. Currently (re)learning tablature, so this lesson is helpful. Nice voice and instruction. To others struggling out there, if possible: go with a dedicated instructor. The rigor and progressive repetition is something you cannot easily find in a RUclips video. This video's tabs are great, but unless you know how to plant corn, you will have a hard time farming. Just sayin'. Thanks.

Thanks for the video, I didn’t plan on learning to play guitar but since I have seen a video that explained Travis picking with this song it seemed so fun that I had to try. Starting from not playing at all, after a month of self finger flagellation whenever I had the time I was finally able to play the tune while singing, in no small part because I could come here to help me learn. I still find it incredible how the guitar sounds so beautiful and harmonious when you hear it without knowing how much of a technical tour de force this is until you’ve played it yourself…
