As a land rover specialist mechanic, I understand the love ol mate has for the old nuggets but the 80 is world's ahead of anything Landrover has ever made even in stock form. The l322 rangie in the shed is nice to drive but the 80 would own it off-road and over time too.
This is the best! Old mate is full dad spec, but I reckon pre kids he knew how to steer. His girls seen a side to their old boy they haven’t before. What a bloody legend!
I have a series 2a Landrover with a Holden Red under the hood. An absolute game changing mod!!
I can tell you're a bit nervous when the old blokes punching it! 🤣 to be fair if he was in the passenger seat and you were the one driving, I'm sure he'd be even more nervous than you ahahaha

The Holden 6 swap
I had a series 3 L/r very similar to that one but a 2 door
I put a 186 Holden in to replace a 2.25 litre diesel and drove it round Australia
Same with a 253, 308 into a cutdown Landcruiser!

That guy (ex-owner) is obviously a real Land Rover fan. Not only does he have a Range Rover in the garage and an army spec Defender in pieces, only a real LR fan will replace an 80 Series with a Defender. 😁

Glad he caught the land rover bug 😂 you actually cannot just buy one, they multiply magically. The old 2.25L 4 bangers are rather underwhelming but they literally run on anything, love a good landy 🙌🏼
