Thanks. I'm afraid I can't justify spending the considerable cost of Nodes 3 because it's not something I would ever use. But that said it's a fantastically useful thing for people who want to do that kind of work and I wholeheartedly recommend it. If Yanobox were to give me a free subscription however ....
This came at the most opportune time, as I was just last night trying to figure out how to get a bunch of different animated cells in a replicator to not be in the same frame through the whole animation. How did you know I was working on that, Simon?
Hi Simon. Do you know if it's possible to "transfer" the frame offset to Final Cut Pro in order to use it in a Generator with a drop zone? I've created a template with a video wall but the offset only work with the embedded video from Motion. When I replace it in FCP (the video is in a drop zone), it does not work. I tried publishing the offset parameter but it still does not work. Many thanks for your Motion tutorials!
It's a bit complicated but if you pay careful attention to what I say about using Clones in this tutorial you should be able to do what you want. Not enough space here to give you a detailed description, sorry.
For me, that's the tool for creating the "optical illusion" effect of the circles oscillating in a line that you also made a video on resulting from a discord discussion :D
Finally. So this is the full explanation of our exchange on your seamless looping tutorial 1 month ago. I wish I had this crystal-clear explanation months (years?) ago. But how did you find this out? The motion documentation is so light and doesn't really go into any depth, there's hardly a line on the subject. Still, you have to know how to read between the lines, it's more a question of exploring on your own.
I have this and Motion runs as smoothly as I would hope: Mac Studio with the following configuration: Apple M2 Max with 12‑core CPU, 30‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine, 32GB unified memory
@@SimonUbsdell I am asking because I am using the new Macbook Pro M3 Max 14CPU/30GPU with 36GB Ram and Motion is not always showing me the right amount of FPS, so it is often less/slowed down. I am using really big video files with ProRes and modify them. Maybe it is because of that
Thank you for this Motion example ,I have Ver5.7 and able to follow it But not perfectly as I could not find the Video used ,Pixel-allan-mass-5362370 has given some Problems . But I will keep persevering ,I have been following you since Door 9 "have you shown the procedure to output from Blender to Motion" ? Thank you BJ.
I think that clip is no longer available but really any video will do, it's not important what it is. As for the Blender to Motion question, I have covered it in several tutorials but you might like to start with this one: ruclips.net/video/XcB3k7h6ipg/видео.html
What if... What if you made a source video that changes shots every, say, 6 seconds, and set the Source Frame Offset to 6 seconds? Wouldn't that put a different shot in every 'cell'? That can make one shot animate into many shots, right? Nice!

You blow me away every time! Thank you for your videos.
This is amazing! What a great set of tips. Thanks Simon!
Oh wow! Never knew you could use video as a cell source. This is amazing Simon! Thank you so much for sharing!
Simon...I would really appreciate if you can do a tutorial on Nodes 3. Thank you so much for your amazing tutorials!

This is really amazing. I'm a part time user of Motion but this is eye opening. Thanks.
Thank you , Great will what I come up with !
Keep ‘em coming Simon! Love hearing your insights on the app itself (like the group vs pre-comp video)
Brilliant! I can see many interesting uses for these techniques. Very many thanks.
An amazing feature. Thanks for breaking it down, Simon!
Thank you Simon for spreading your knowledge 🙌
Brilliant. Very clear and another very useful tutorial, many thanks Simon.
As always - simple and powerful. Thanx for sharing!
Thanks, Simon! A clone also has a timing controls in object properties
Indeed. So much to be said about clones: ruclips.net/video/GAIja2JQ4fg/видео.html
Excellent tutorial. Thanks Simon.
You are truly the Motion God
Great tip Simon!
Thank you so much!
Awesome! have a project where this will come in handy. Thanks!
You are a master and a treasure. Thank you!!

Brilliant! I had no idea this would work. Thanks!

You are Very Amazing 👌👏👏👏👏👏💪💪💪💪💪😘
Nice
The best
very cool
One question: what hardware do you use for Motion? Does it run smoothly enough for you?
