Subscribed!!!!! You and Dylan Bates really push Motion to the limits so we don’t have to cave and pay for Adobes Creative cloud. Thank you for all that you do and keep up the great work.
Great Video! I love the Motion lighting FX, but I always have a hard time controlling the timing, length and ability to draw one then have it freeze. Would love a tutorial about the next level of working with these.
Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to create these tutorials! I just discovered your channel and will be following. It’s great to learn various aspects of Motion by following along the creative process. Combing capabilities and creative execution. 😀
I’m learning how to do this stuff, but at the same time these videos are entertaining - it’s like you’re doing magic tricks. I’ve been making film and video for 40 years. Yikes, I still love it. Thanks for your great presentations.
I commented a year ago, loved it and just rewatched. Awesome, fun, educational lesson. Thank you again for taking the time and effort to show us the techniques and your creative process.
Great video Jenn! You inspire me with new ideas every time! So I've got a couple time-saver click eliminators for you. While drawing points with the Bezier tool, if you click and drag as you place each one, it will create a smooth point, so you don't have to go back and right click and make each one smooth. Also, when are using Keyframes, and I've watched you do it on other videos, you don't have to click the Create Keyframe button when creating subsequent new keyframes if you have already created one before hand on that same parameter; just adjusting the parameter will automatically create a new keyframe if you have already created a prior keyframe on that particular parameter. Thanks for all the work you do!
Ah, I always forget about the click and drag. I actually only learned that trick a few months ago and I never remember it. For the keyframes, I like the action of clicking the keyframe button because it helps me stay organized mentally. When I was new at editing, I would always lose track of my keyframes and forget to make hold keyframes and would completely screw up my projects. Clicking the button instead of just changing the values keeps me on track. If there's one thing to know about Motion (or editing in general) there's 1000 ways to skin a cat, right?
Thank you for this tutorial. It was very helpful in practice as I stepped through it move by move duplicating it and it really helped me get over the hump of becoming comfortable with the interface (and its differences from FCPX). I find many of your tutorials are great for such an approach to "guided do it yourself" learning projects.
These video tutorials are great! Inspires me to start using emotion after forgetting about it for so long. Question: would you recommend color correcting/grading your shots before doing motion VFX?
Jenn thank you for having the best picture quality screen capture and superb zooming-in-for-details Motion tutorials on the internet, or any tutorials for that matter! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🤩🤩
I like this tutorial and will definitely be putting this into practice soon! I am new to FCP and Motion. Look forward to all future videos! If I could make a request, I'd like to see more tuts on mask tracking/rotoscoping as well as importing and animating 3d objects with lights and cameras.
Hey Jenn! Thank you for your effort! I am currently testing the Bezier-feature with the light in a picture and I was wondering if it is possible to slow down the pace of the light. I'd like to animate a logo and don't want to have such a quick movement. Maybe you could tell me if it is possible or not. Thanks in advance and a Happy New Year 2023
This is excellent, thank you! BUT, how do you adjust the timing of the stroke effect? It seems there's a default speed it moves and I'd like it to move faster. Mine takes 2 seconds to go through something that isn't even that extensive. The only way I've found that works (but is EXTREMELY tedious) is by adjusting the Color Over Stroke gradient itself. But there must be a faster way?
@@JennJagerPro Crazy fast response! Wow :) I'm new to AM. Do you mean the little slider under the preview window that shows In, Out, Dur? If so, even when I shorten/lengthen that, it doesn't impact the speed. If I shorten it too much, the shape will disappear before the stroke animation has finished. I'll be sure to check out your video! Thank you
Great!!! I just think about how to draw a lighting in motion tonight , and I saw your video.... thank a lot!! Hey Jenn , I want to know can I do this just in FCP ?
Incredible. Thank you. Is there a way to do this with video and moving objects. I’m guessing key frames are the way to go. But I’m struggling to find tutorials on it and I can’t get it quite right when I do it myself. I can get it close. But Not perfect
You could key frame, but you could also Motion Track. The motion tracking in Apple Motion is a little meh for my taste. Here's an example of a third party tracker in FCP: ruclips.net/video/U51irvhp1l4/видео.html
I'm trying to do this I accidentally close the bezier and I cant add anymore points, Command + Z deletes the whole thing. Is there a way to add more points after closing the bezier?

Thanks for making this video. I just got Motion today and it looks like I’m gonna be running your views up! Thanks again for being a great teacher!
Thanks for this. It was very useful. Lots of techniques and ideas bundled in one tutorial!
I just smiled throughout being most all this made sense because I watched the your 40 tips video just yesterday!
That is some cool uses of the Bezier tools. Love to lights moving. Love to see something like this with sparkly particles.
Your tutorials are a little like Netflix.. I find myself bingeing way too much.
I won't deny.. I think I'm a little in love with you.
I'll let you know if my hubs and I split up.

Your Motion videos are fantastic! I’ve watched quite a few 🙂
Thank you for making tutorial videos. You are a great teacher!
You're very welcome!
great stuff. thanks for it
Ahh great tutorial. I’m seeing these effects on a lot of adverts on TV in the UK at the moment and it’s nice to know how they’re done, thanks
Apparently I'm on trend, lol! Thanks for watching.

you are a great teacher yeeaahh. give my regards from spain
Thank you very much, fabulous, I will be using it in an ongoing project for a client, thank you again
That was fun Jenn. I’ve worked in Motion since vrs 1 and I’ve never seen the shape styles before. Duh!
There's so much stuff hidden in here-- I still find new things!
Great tutorial! Really helpful. Thanks.
You make it look easy.

Hello Jenn, thank you so much for the tutorial, I wonder if is Posible to do the same effects around text or a logo?

Do you see the write on behavior in your timeline? I actually have a vid posting tomorrow that touches on writing on strokes

I like this very much but am searching for a way to control the speed of the light streaks. Can you help with this?
Did you change the length of the Write On behavior? You do this in the timeline.
How does this work with videos. I want to highlight objects in my videos

Прекрасно! Супер! Спасибо!!
How much cost Apple Motion?
And is there a Windows version?
I'm trying to do this I accidentally close the bezier and I cant add anymore points, Command + Z deletes the whole thing.
Is there a way to add more points after closing the bezier?
😍😍😍😍wow
Simply amazing! Is it your opinion to markup vids in motion rather than fcpx?
Absolutely.
👍👍👍😎
Super tutorial !
