Becky, these are the type of videos that are really helpful … the more I work with all the elements (Embrilliance, SNC, SimplyA, canvas workspace) the more I understand your instructions! The part on using My Projects was helpful for organizing things. So glad you are so well organized! Joyce
Lordy girl, you is smart, and you is so kind for doing this video. I quit doing embroidery 22 years ago when my sister got me into quilting. The technology is wonderful, however complicated, it seems to me. It’s great that you get it and are willing to share. And I love your humor and your laugh. Great video!
Thank you so much. I was given a Scan and Cut from a neighbor who doesn't ever use it. Can't wait to try. Every time I go to My Girlfriends Quilt Shop, we talk about how wonderful your videos are. What an inspiration you are to so many on all levels. You make everyone feel like a friend.
I am so thankful that I purchased a Scan & Cut and Simply Applique. Now that I'm going to do this project, those two things will be invaluable! Thank you for your clear and concise videos, Becky!
This is an excellent instructional video, finally I understand the process. I don’t own a scan n cut yet because I could never follow a good video that explains what advantage it actually had. This video cleared up a lot of my questions. Thank you ❤❤
Hello, great video as always! I have to use the desktop version due to iffy internet (we’re in the country) when I use the marker to trace sometimes 2 lines appear, I can delete one, than I have my shape, was curious if this happens with the on line version 🤷♀️
Hello, while waiting for my ScanNCut to arrive, I scanned the shapes through my printer/scanner. And converted them to a SVG file type. Now when I try to import them into the Canvas Workspace, I get a message Error ErrS15 and also ErrS23. Is that because I didn't scan them using the SNC and so they are not associated with a mat from the SNC? Thanks for any insight. I at least have them all traced and ready to scan. Also I'm sorry I see this is for the Calico Garden and I'm working on the Chicken Salad
I'm not aware of any scanner that can convert to svg. Do you have a specialized printer/scanner for that? Usually, a scan has to be imported into a program like Adobe Illustrator, Gimp, or some other high-end program and then you'll have to use a wand tool to go around the outline of the shape and then save or convert to svg. Otherwise, I'm not sure what happened.
I love your tutorials and want to try this. I have a Cricut, though. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to scan a design ( usually as a pdf) and get it into and SVG file for my Cricut. So frustrating. And no videos to help. Thanks for your videos.
Yes, that's a tough one. You might look for an app for your phone that will create svgs from a photo (there's videos on RUclips for this). Then upload the photo to Brother Canvas from your phone. There's a button to upload an svg file into Brother Canvas, and then you can download the .fcm file to your laptop because the Canvas will convert the svg to .fcm.
Hello , thanks for all the great videos and help. I did purchase the Embrilliance software btw works great but I have a quick question will the simply appliqué software work on my MacBook? I would also like to purchase that one.
If you have Embrilliance Essentials and Stitch Artist 2, you don't need Simply Applique. Stitch Artist 2 is a superior program to Simply Applique but I have rarely recommended it because of the cost of the software. Simply Applique only runs on Windows so you'll need the Parallels utility and also have a Windows OS installed as well on a Mac. I'm talking about Stitch Artist 2 now because of how many Mac users are doing this along with me. I'll show how to do this on a Mac as well using SA2. If you need Stitch Artist 2, here's a link: bit.ly/3XDpS5R
How do I transfer a design in the scan n cut to canvas work space or simply applique. I picked our a bunny from the scan n cut and I want to applique. Thank you in advance. Yolanda
After you pull up the design on SNC, click Save and choose the Cloud. Then you can download from Canvas to your computer and import it into Simply Applique.
I taped two pieces of paper together with the tape on the back. Then I traced 48 with the point end over the overlapped sheets and ran it through the SNC. I thought I'd get the line running through it but I didn't. If you still get the line, double click right on the line in Canvas and you will see blue points appear. There's a tiny menu that pops up on the upper left corner that allows you to manipulate those points. There's one with a - (minus) sign. Click a point and hit the minus sign. Continue to do that until all points on the line are gone. Otherwise, a sheet of legal paper is in order.
@@PowerToolsWithThread Thank you, I tried multiple times but I could not remove the line artifacts. What I ended up doing is scanning just the template, outside only, adjusting the shading on the scan n cut and IT WORKED! I just name it 48.
Right. There's no SF101 or turning right side out in this method. The applique piece is ironed down with HeatNBond Lite inside the embroidery placement line. Then the embroidery machine does the blanket stitch.
Hi I love your tutorials, learned alot from you and because I only had a small embroidery 4x4 machine I got a bigger embroidery 5x5 & 6x10 for Christmas lol. Now you have been talking alot about scan &cut. I have a Cricut Maker would that work or it's best to get a Scan n cut?
@@PowerToolsWithThread ok that sounds good , I also got embrilliance because when watching your videos I found out you can do applique. Now it's to know how to do embroidery instead of stitching around each piece.
You trace the shapes to template plastic? I will be using this machine for wool appliqué. I hope I can figure this out. Do you have tutorial for installing canvas on my laptop? Thanks
Great questions! The shapes are plastic. I trace them onto printer paper. Then I scan the paper in the SNC. I don't use the downloaded version of Canvas on my laptop. I only use the online version. It's a website so there's no installing required. Thanks!
Yes ma'am! You can save the scan to a USB and then take the USB to your laptop to use in Simply Applique. However, there might be some extra things the scan found, like the line at the bottom of the paper, that will need to be removed or edited. No need to use Canvas at all, but it is just easier to edit the images and rename if you want in the Canvas.
I am a little confused. Sorry, I am sure I am just misunderstanding something. I have BES Blue Embroidery and Lettering software. Do I need to purchase Simply Applique?
I have the scan n cut SD 225, after I scan I only have 2 boxes to chose from, outline all or inside outside, you show 3 choices, I checked and I have the latest update, is it my machine model?
Not a stupid question at all! In this instance, I could not. Those shapes are the intellectual property of Lori Holt and Riley Blake. However if I was to get a design off the Internet that was free it would not be a problem. But since you have to pay for the simple shapes, and I am not an authorized reseller of those shapes, nor can I share them with anyone, even if they tell me they bought them. I appreciate you asking that so that anyone else who wonders has the answer.😊
Sounds like a real challenge. But a great learning opportunity.

Wonderful tutorial! Thank you. Have fun on your cruise.
Wow!! I love this video on how to use the scan and cut. I have one that I got several years ago and have never used it...😢

Great stuff! Question is what is the largest embroidery hoop I will need to do this quilt?
Does it matter what model of Scan n Cut you have or will this method word with both older and new models?
This method will work with older SNC machines too. :)
Can you add a quarter inch to the shape if you want to do needle turn appliqué?
Becky where did you find that ziplock bag dispenser or did Keith make it for you?
I can't find my exact one (I guess it's out of stock) but here's one just like it. amzn.to/3IX4ZP3
