@The Tech Chap Can we get another video of these two but this time testing the Galaxy store "Optimised for Samsung" versions of the games you tested 🤔 because I'm guessing you probably used the PlayStore versions and I'm curious to see if the performance gap gets bigger or closer?
Probably not but if your desperate for the Snapdragon versions, people could just buy their Tablets and Folds, because last I checked, they exclusively use Snapdragon in them. So it ain't like Samsung couldn't do a Snapdragon phone in the UK that works on our 5G networks, if they really wanted to 😅
@@typhoon_8086 I didn't think they overclocked this Exynos version, because the stats page has most the Arm cores at the same or lower clocks, than the Snapdragon version, well at least for the cpu anyway?
@@staffie85 well the stats that I always see have the Snapdragon being clocked at maximum 2.8 ghz while the Exynos is clocked at maximum 3 ghz So the Exynos seems to be running faster but also hotter if the numbers are correct
True, I'm surprised that the EU is pretty much the only market I know that has the Exynos Variant of the S22 Ultra. Even India got the Snapdragon Model of the S22 Ultra
Exynos hasn't been good since S6, and the way the 2200 was hyped I thought Exynos will finally be back in the game. At this rate, I feel like its more about optimisation. I mean they are all good chipsets to begin with, its just that many more stuff are just being optimised for the snapdragon
Actually the Galaxy S10 had their last good exynos, in the S9, S20 it was pretty big difference. In the S21 and S22 both are actually pretty similar in terms of efficiency
@WaldirBraz No no no, I'm not talking about graphic options. Its just that they run a lil bit better on the snapdragon, and that you can play longer on snapdragon before you start experiencing throttling
I think the distance unit in the camera app depends on the region of the device since my Indian 8Gen1 ultra uses metres in the app and we also get dual physical SIM support.
I just purchased two samsung S22 and S22+ today.. and both have dual sim with Snapdragon 888 gen1 plus it also have esim for third no, I'm from Malaysia
• Video was better on the Exynos, better dynamic range although SD had better stabilisation... • Photo was pretty much equal... • Performances Snapdragon... • Battery pretty much equal... Soooo Exynos is pretty good, the hate it receives isn't legitimate.
"The hate it recieves isn't legitmate", this isn't really an accurate assessment as previous Exynos chips have been awful compared to SD. That's why this is suprising *news*.
00:51 You are wrong, chap. I'm using the Note22 Ultra here in Asia, the first time Samsung put a SD SoC in its flagship release here in this territory, and it's using the metric system. I bet it is based on the system used in your region and if your device is organic in that region or imported from elsewhere. I'm a subscriber, nice vid.
I really love one thing about this S22 Ultra is, it's a mixture of the Galaxy S & Note series which I always wanted to have. But can't complain about my 14months old Note 20 Ultra.
Got mine from Wonda Mobile. I believe it's the HK version. Can confirm it's working fine with 5G in UK. Also even after a really heavy day of use my battery has never gone below 30%.
@@bradavon Unfortunately No. Samsung UK won't provide support to an imported model. Wonda mobile do add 12 months of warranty however that means the phone would have to be shipped back to Hong Kong. I imported the Samsung Note²⁰ Ultra SnapDragon from Wonda mobile and it was fine. I had both the SnapDragon and Exynos SoC variants. The SnapDragon was better optimised so battery lasted around an hour more. The rest felt the same.
Great info as usual! After the latest update, my Snapdragon is a beast now here in the States & compared to my Note 10+ hand in hand. The antennas are surprisingly superb! Where I only get 4g or a few bars of LTE on my 10+, I'm getting LTE Plus or 5g on my Ultra! I have a locked Vers. & I'm not able to make changes to Global or 5g or 4g only. It just auto switches when the signal is better. I bought mine because I mainly watch downloaded movies outdoors & the screen brightness does make a difference. Can't see it on my 10+ but I can see HDR movies easily on my S22 Ultra. Battery performance is lagging though. It gets almost the same Screen on time as my 3yr + old Note 10 Plus. Camera's are fantastic & I've put my DSLR away & just use my 22 Ultra for photos now. Especially Portrait Mode! 🤟
I have a note 10+ now and debating on taking advantage of the 800 trade in offer at the moment through ATT. Would you recommend me make the jump to the S22 Ultra? Also, does the S22 ultra in the States come with snapdragon?
Thanks for sharing your experience. US version is still an absolute beast in 2024. Exynos version is simply a shame. My cousin bought US variant. I bought exynos version. Absolutely not the same phone : GPS, wifi, data antenna, photography, battery, OS speed, absolutely all this is different! Euro version is just like a cheap phone except for visuals : it looks the same.
Yes you can change the virtual ram amount which only kicks in if the phone needs it, however you'd need to be pushing the phone very hard for the phone needing to use virtual ram.
In Pakistan it is going to be given people with 2 nano sims with snapdragon gen 1, It is a different matter that we have not received it yet as it was pre-ordered on March 1
I own the S21 Exynos and while it is pretty good for the most part I will probably go with a phone that has a Snapdragon next. It just gets more support and seems to have no downsides. Might switch from Samsung to another brand. But that is still 2+ years away.
If Huawei wasnt sanctioned by USA, Huawei would smash Samsung by mate 40 and P 50 with their new chips. However Samsung should thanks American to save their market .
So close. Only significant difference was the studio video where the Snapdragon really messed up the "tech chap" wall light . It was all over the place while the exynos was perfect. I don't game although both seemed great, so I'd take the exynos as 5g is 800mb where I live in Manchester. Added bonus is on most tests it's also slightly better on battery.
Hi, i live in europe, i wanted to buy a ss22 ultra, the problem is that i don't know what to choose. Hello with regards to Exynos game performance did you enable the alternative game performance mode in labs, and enable game boost? Thank you for the information, great video.
I have the Exynos version with 512GB and I don't care about games, I watch a lot of movies on my phone. But Samsung needs to step up their game with this chip for the gamers. It's unacceptable that this phone is still as pricey as the snapdragon version but is lagging like hell in games.
I'm only a few days into ownership of the s22 ultra (exynos version) and so far the only disappointment is the battery life. Right now with 4.5hrs screen on time today I'm at 27% remaining so I'm surprised and impressed with the figures Tom managed to achieve. Hopefully it will improve for me over time as the phone learns my usage patterns 🤞🏻. I have had the phone on charge for a couple of short bursts in the car in that time too 😬.
@@Ethanrocks-mv2ol when u first get a samsung product they first learn ur usage pattern and it fking sucks the first few days... I know that because i own a samsung watch and during the learning phase it only lasted a day now it lasts 3 days
I have yet to break three hours SoT, and overnight the worst was 22% loss in 8 hours! I now close all apps before I go to bed and put in Flight Mode and lose about 10%. I feel that my next step is to turn it off as it has become ridiculous.
@@Funtime77x Yes, I have seen a few that say between 2-4% so I am wondering what is going on. Maybe my third factory reset is incoming as it improves a little bit every time (not standby drain but performance). Fingers crossed April update will fix it.
Honestly the best test with today's phones would be to give both of them to a random person without telling which is which and ask them in 30mins what they think as all SOCs are just amazing nowadays anyways.
Amazing might be overstating it just a bit mate , clearly both are lacking in some areas , but the Exynos is the weakest of the two despite Samsungs telling us how wonderful it was going to be. And 30 minutes isn’t nearly enough to evaluate a new phone.
@@mikldude9376 my point is most people won't know the difference between Exynos, Snapdragon, Mediatek etc. when using the phones daily as they're all just too powerful now.
Sometimes I think its much better for Samsung to add exynos as a supporting chip to the main SD version of the phone. Just like Iqoo implemends its intelligent display chip and oppo is using marisilicon x chip for boosting its camera performance. I am sure that will help reduce the discrepancy.
@@marioalexanderski9598lol why will they sell their yesrs kf research to another company?? Yes Snapdragon is better but Exynos is very close and still usable as a smartphone chip...
has anyone ever tested multiple phones of the same kind to see if hardware difference between exemplars can make a difference? Sure the processing like noise reduction is based on the processor but slight colour changes could be also due to just sensor difference... at least I could see that as a possibility. Would be funny if these differences could be really that big that you could spot them next to each other but no one ever tested that because the "obvious" mindset is that same chipdesign = same output
Omg I thought I was already subscribed! Can’t believe been missing vids of his, best tech reviewer I’ve seen so far hands down. It’s a shame, I’m an exynos owner and the snapdragon does seem better and I’m quite surprised with the photos as I could really tell the difference! I’m a lil gutted tbf, for the last 5 years I’ve had to care for my mum due to her bad health and being bedridden, so naturally I can’t work so having money to spend on this phone is very rare for me, like legit first thing I’ve bought in nearly 5 years for myself 😅 wish I held off buying now as I could have just just saved my money for a rainy day as I have a feeling this device is not as future proof as I thought it was going to be. 🤦🏻♂️
My personal experience with the Exynos is that games lagged as they aren't well optimised for the chip and the UI also has minor lags and stutters. Returned it as soon as possible as my Oneplus 8 genuinely gave me a better user experience
Stutters are present in Snapdragon variant , too. I think it’s an Android issue honestly. My iPhone 13 PM is buttery smooth with animations, opening/closing apps and gesture navigation feels just right
True, the S22 ultra has some stutters here and there, i hate that! Didn't buy because of that. I want butteryyyyyyyyyyyy smooth no lag or stutter whatsoever. So i bought the 13 Pro...
Very informative, and I saw heating was mentioned once or twice in the video, but Heating should really be its own testing category especially in a Snapdragon vs. Exynos comparison. As a matter of fact, Heating was the ONLY thing I, as a user, wanted to know about, as Exynos in the past has been known to operate hotter. I'm hoping that situation has improved. I'm sure I'm not the only one. 🙂
I've watched a lot of reviewers comparing these two chips and giving mixed results. Some say Exynos is better some says Snapdragon. For this reason i might go with Iphone this year this is just unacceptable two different chips on a same product with the same price and different outputs.
Finally someone said it. Two "same" phones with different hardware for the same price with different output of quality and mind you each is "saved/restricted" to a specific area. It feels like a gamble to the buyer and whichever you buy, based on your area, you will always feel like you got the short end of the stick.
Another person did a legit camera comparison between the 2 models on youtube too and got totally different results in almost every scenario than in this video, where exynos was just brilliant, I am really confused now 😂😂 Its like there is more camera variations or something inside of the models or something, its really weird that there are many different result on these models in other videos on youtube
I surprised the accent of CPU is very good in terms of multicore performance and actually I like the dynamic range in the picture quality better on the exynos
When I look at the photo results from the Exynos version, especially from the front camera, they are sometimes terribly bad. My S21 Ultra (Exynos) is worlds better. I think there is a point here that many do not have on their mind and that I have (unfortunately) experienced. We have two S20s (Exynos) in the family. One delivers very good results with all cameras, one has problems with the telephoto again and again and delivers downright pixel mud. I complained about this s20 to Samsung and got on their nerves until they said: Ok, we'll replace the camera unit under warranty. After that, the photo quality of the tele was a bit more stable, but still not on the same level as the other S20. Will say: There is a series dispersion. That's why I'm holding on to my perfect S21 Ultra, because I don't know if I'll get a perfectly working S22 (no matter which chip is installed).
totally agree with you. I initially bought an snapdragon when s21 ultra was released. The heating issue was insane. Very uncomfortable to use maybe because it was just released and an update for the heating problem is still in the works but when i switch the phone to the exynos version, wow. i never experience the heating and the battery is significantly better. that is for the s21 ultra i am talking not this newest s22 ultra.
I'm glad samsung launched snapdragon versions in India this time around. Anyways, do enable GOS patch through game labs which fixes the throttle, for best gaming performance.
Regarding the cameras, I didnt have one favorite. I liked the more detail on Exynos vs lesser noise on the Snapdragon. On one shot the Snapdragon looked better, the other one the Exynos. The only thing I didn't like was that it Exynos introduces some blues in the shadows which can look nice on a sunny day but looks odd when photographing a camera lens that obviously should have been black. As I am not going to game, they might as well be the same.

Very informative video. Honestly I don't care about who "wins" this battle between these two processors. I couldn't care less about that. What I'm more interested in is the difference between the processors. And when it comes to photography I got my questions answered.
This. To be honest, most people aren't going to notice much of a difference when using these devices, and let's not forget that most people wont be holding an exynos and a snapdragon variant at the same time, doing comparisons. It just satisfies my nerdiness lol
I do as I live in the UK, the Exynos market. Samsung displays a bad precedence of selling an inferior model for the same price as the superior model, with very little mention of the clear differences.

I have Samsung Galaxy S10 Snapdragon and my wife have Samsung 20 ultra Snapdragon, and that was important to us to have a processor Snapdragon. Until that time, there were Samsung phones with an Exynos processor, and it was already like a dream to have a Samsung phone on a Snapdragon. We have been using them for more than a year and are very satisfied. We will also take the following new phones from Samsung and only on the Snapdragon processor.
The fact that the Exynos doesn't have all the fps and quality settings available shows that the chip has no app optimizations yet, and still almost keeping up, I'm genuinely currius what that RDNA GPU will be able to do in 5 months, when both chips do have propper support
Well, 6 months have passed after this comment was posted. So, PUBG is 30fps, numerous games that should easily run at 90-120fps run at unstable 60. Opening simple apps such as settings... SETTINGS!! Sometimes it hangs up for a second. Very dissapointed.

The IPhone 13 Pro Max is the one to buy! Tech Reviewer MrWhoseTheBoss did a battery drain test and the 13 Pro beat the S22 Ultra by 1-2 hours if your looking for superior performance and battery life. The Photos and Videos on the IPhone 13 Pro Max are similar and sometimes better compared to the S22 Ultra if your looking for a flagship with similar Photo and Video quality

Hey Chap, I prefer the Exynos camera photos & video.. also exynos is catching up in terms of battery-life but they need to work on GPU & less throttling.. again great comparison video, keep it up, cheers
The exynos did pretty great in video, the highlights are so much better resolved and it was quicker at this too, I think this year is not a huge loss for anyone really
I think the diffrence between two of them is actually almost not perceptible but Exynos videos looked a lot better in my opinion. But the actual problem with S22 Ultra it's adaptive screen refresh rate, if you are watching some videos let's say in IG and you take your finger off tha screen in couple of seconds the software will understand that you are not active and drop the refresh rate under 60hz and because of that all the videos will look chopepd and laggy, hopefully they will fix it soon. Also one of the biggest issues was with the GPS where the phone couldn't connect to GPS and you had to restart the phone everytime you wanted to use Waze or Google maps and so on, but yesterday Samsung released new update, let's hope it fixed the problem.
Well... Have things improved? I'm currently waiting for my S22 Ultra to arrive, and it's Exynos as I'm in the UK, so now I'm starting to get a little disappointed, even though I think it won't be that noticeable :/

I don't know if Samsung should... If the SD always outperforms the exynos... Maybe Samsung should stick to what they do best instead of keep on trying to invent the wheel over and over... As the Dutch have a saying: Schoenmaker blijf bij je leest. What I see is that Samsung upped their game by providing better and longer software support then Google itself does with the Pixel. That's where the investments must be put, such as better face unlock. (don't recall which YT film it was, but apparently you can still unlock the S22 with a photo...)
Hello from the US. My experience with the Snapdragon variant was awful. There was an excesive amount of lag and freeze on even the most minor daily use. In fact many early adopters of the S22 Ultra have had the same experience-based on comments in Samsung Community posts. I really love Samsung and I was one of the first to buy the original iphone killer way back when. I certainly hope they do a major fix. I am not at all opposed to repurchasing. All the best!
I bought galaxy s21 Ultra, but UI felt half baked, laggy, and battery sucker, and sold it to o some1 in a month. All youtubers are silent on these issues. Now thinking to buy a pixel.
I'm into the black color more. The s22 ultra snapdragon might be my next phone if and only if, google pixel doesn't release good phones in the next 3 or 4 yrs.
The two most important things for me are battery life and the camera performance and Exynos is not that great in either. Maybe it will be addressed in software although I doubt it.
Sorry exynos is better for battery life this year. He didn't show battery life comparison in his video but I watched exynos vs snapdragon and exynos win by one hour or more so. They are not similar in battery life.
Battery life exynos has been better since last year (after update) the only downside to exynos is that not a lot of apps are optimized for it unlike the Snapdragon version

Thank you for this compare video, seeing that I’m happy I returned my s22 ultra with Exynos and replaced with iPhone 13 pro. Photos, videos and battery usage was simply not stable and you could not trust you will take a good quality video at all, s21+ was taking better pictures and videos by far.
Damian, how's your experience been so far? I've never used an iPhone and at the moment I have a s22u with exynos. It's been awful in battery, and the camera just doesn't have that enough level of detail. For instance, my Huawei mate 20 pro is capturing more details in pictures than the s22u. Highly considering to swap for a 13 pro Max.
@@minivenoninho Hi Vinicius, I will try to be as strict and short as possible :) I had same experience as you with S22U coming from S21+ which was in my opinion more solid phone in terms of photo/video quality when we talk about Exynos versions. Regarding iPhone, I'm still getting used to. First what I can highlight is, that this phone is really reliable, you can count on camera in every occasion, I take a lot of pictures of my children and it never disappointed me , and video quality is from different space :) there is no competition in this area. Battery in my normal Pro version is amazing, 7-8h SOT, and with easy usage 2.5 days is easy to reach. Things what I dont like: missing Hi-Res audio codec (LDAC). Samsung in terms of audio quality is a KING now when LG finished. iOS is restricted system, and there is almost no personalization options comparing to Android where you could adjust everything literally/. With iPhone you have issues to set up different messages sounds than original, it is complicated but from other hand how often are you changing it :). Many people complains about notch, for me is not a problem at all. It is rather RUclips talking...But this premium feeling in the hand is priceless :) specially in that Alpine Green. Also what I like is a FaceID, it is so easy and reliable. I personally recommend this phone, it will require some time to get used to but it is worth it.
I take more videos than pics on my smartphone and I actually found the video samples better from the Exynos version in this comparison; they were consistently less noisy and had a better dynamic range than the samples from the SD version. The latter has a slight advantage in pics, but its disadvantage in video is bigger imo. I'm in Canada so we get the SD version, but based on this comparison and since I mainly take vids with my smartphone as I mentioned, I would rather have had the Exynos version!
I saw Golden Receiver night time video and on that the SD was better than the Exynos Whitchurch suggests that the models are very inconsistent which is the overall view in Twitter-land and from the European reviewers.
@@andyH_England i saw android addicts and the exynos was better the sd was better at stabilisation, the models are inconsistent, sometimes one does better than the other and it's confusing.

The biggest reason you should import isn't about performance or battery it's about price. In the UK the 22+ with 256gb is £1,000. You can import that same phone from Hong Kong for £740 including shipping
In years gone past, the Exynos performance and battery hit has been so severe, they've been bad enough to rule out the Galaxy S range. This looks close enough for me. Not getting it anyway because of lack of headphone jack (yes, I'm one of *those* people!), but there's nothing so concerning here that would rule out a purchase.
The S22 Exynos is the most disappointing phone of 2022 yet. As a lifetime Samsung user who buys a new phone every year, I can say this. Never had a new phone with so many issues out of the box like stuttering UI and bad video recording. Tried every possible fix I could find on XDA without luck. Sold it and using my S21 Ultra instead and probably switch to iPhone 13 Pro. Thank you Samsung.
I have the Samsung Galaxy s21ultra but I am sick of tired with that snapdragon vs Exynos situation. I looking forward to the new iphone 14 pro max in October.

Got mine from Wonda Mobile. I believe it's the HK version. Can confirm it's working fine with 5G in UK. Also even after a really heavy day of use my battery has never gone below 30%.
Me too i like them very quick and easy
What about the warranty? You think Samsung UK would honour it?
Does it have dual sim? Thanks.
There are some good deals with Hong Kong. Dusl SIM is cool. Much cheaper than in US
I have been waiting for this, thank you so much!
Very sad battery doesn't get much improved but, yeah 2K 120hz used along is not very recommended
I have a note 10+ now and debating on taking advantage of the 800 trade in offer at the moment through ATT. Would you recommend me make the jump to the S22 Ultra? Also, does the S22 ultra in the States come with snapdragon?

Yes, but that's one of the reasons why people buy this phone, because of the beautiful 120hz display combined with the high resolution.

I noticed the video glitch on the qualcomm one too. I think there is a certain point where it comes down to buggy software.

Hopefully it will improve for me over time as the phone learns my usage patterns 🤞🏻. I have had the phone on charge for a couple of short bursts in the car in that time too 😬.

Amazing might be overstating it just a bit mate , clearly both are lacking in some areas , but the Exynos is the weakest of the two despite Samsungs telling us how wonderful it was going to be.

Sure the processing like noise reduction is based on the processor but slight colour changes could be also due to just sensor difference... at least I could see that as a possibility.

Don't assume that I'm sort of bot but u could've bought apple.....considering they have better resale value which could've been used at some point.
My personal experience with the Exynos is that games lagged as they aren't well optimised for the chip and the UI also has minor lags and stutters. Returned it as soon as possible as my Oneplus 8 genuinely gave me a better user experience
Same here and also the same problems.

Whenever he mentioned heating or battery usage when doing the benchmarks the exynos was on top but had a slightly lower score in the benchmark
I've watched a lot of reviewers comparing these two chips and giving mixed results. Some say Exynos is better some says Snapdragon. For this reason i might go with Iphone this year this is just unacceptable two different chips on a same product with the same price and different outputs.
This is exactly my feelings on it. samsung costing themselves customers. love to try one but i’ll go iphone again till they sort themselves out
Decided the same :) and happy with the decision
Finally someone said it. Two "same" phones with different hardware for the same price with different output of quality and mind you each is "saved/restricted" to a specific area. It feels like a gamble to the buyer and whichever you buy, based on your area, you will always feel like you got the short end of the stick.

Another person did a legit camera comparison between the 2 models on youtube too and got totally different results in almost every scenario than in this video, where exynos was just brilliant, I am really confused now 😂😂

Interesting!
Look up "sillicon lottery". It explains the disparity between to devices with identical hardware specs.
totally agree with you. I initially bought an snapdragon when s21 ultra was released. The heating issue was insane.

It is good for the industry for Samsung to keep working to improve Exynos for there to be more players and competition in this space.

If the person's request needs to be wrapped in the game, they will take Snapdragon Chipset
If the person’s are not so many requirements, they can straight away take Exynos Chipset’’
Both chipset is actually very good 😄
@@Mr.J_2003 you mean the Top Once ??
The biggest reason you should import isn't about performance or battery it's about price. In the UK the 22+ with 256gb is £1,000. You can import that same phone from Hong Kong for £740 including shipping
Thanks for the very good comparison video!
Is there a difference in the 10x zoom? i have the feeling, that the exynos is worse there.
Tx for the video
In years gone past, the Exynos performance and battery hit has been so severe, they've been bad enough to rule out the Galaxy S range. This looks close enough for me.
Not getting it anyway because of lack of headphone jack (yes, I'm one of *those* people!), but there's nothing so concerning here that would rule out a purchase.
How you check your s22 ultra is Snapdragon or Exynos? Please tell me the step how without app. On Box or Settings maybe?
The S22 Exynos is the most disappointing phone of 2022 yet. As a lifetime Samsung user who buys a new phone every year, I can say this. Never had a new phone with so many issues out of the box like stuttering UI and bad video recording. Tried every possible fix I could find on XDA without luck.
Sold it and using my S21 Ultra instead and probably switch to iPhone 13 Pro. Thank you Samsung.
I got 13Pro and the Exy S22U and I honestly prefer the S22U in every aspect except the performance in games.
I have the Samsung Galaxy s21ultra but I am sick of tired with that snapdragon vs Exynos situation. I looking forward to the new iphone 14 pro max in October.
Exynos just keeps closing the gap with Snapdragon, and I believe it will overhead it one day
I doubt it, cause Samsung keep overclocking their chipsets without having sufficient cooling. Unless Samsung actually instead a fan in their S Series like on Gaming Phones, the Exynos will always be lagging behind
Yeah that's been the dream of Samsung loseres since S6 (I'm one of them)!
I've given up and moved on...
@Paul Nope, S8 Exnos was better than S8 Qualcomm
@@AshrakAhmed Cry, A Bionic can't beat Exynos
@Paul Exunos chipsets are the best
I'll go with the exynos for the 4k video, I noticed the snapdragon dropping frames with the monitors.
