2:28 tbh most of those images could be attributed to different exposures. When one has more shadow detail, it also blows out highlights. It's prevalent when having black objects as a point of focus - the exposure can vary quite a bit depending on how much of the black is used as an exposure metering point

Even using an expensive digital camera DSLR you can achieve bad results. PQ mainly depends from fotographer skills and postprocessing skills. S21 makes better 64MP photos than S22 Ultra's 108MP ones (Exynos). What a shame. Also, S21's regular 12MP photos are more detailed than the 12MP photos of S22 Ultra (Exinos). The funny thing is that 12MP main camera of my S10e (same camera as in S10, S10 Plus, Note 10 and Note 10 Plus) makes better photos AND 4K/60 videos than both S21 and S22 Ultra (Exynos). The S10 and Note 10 series are so much better, I can't believe it. Not sure why "Samsung" is applying so much oversharpening in their new phones that make them perform worse than their older flagships...
5:19 / 5:20 Could you please zoom in a bit more (magnification). The difference is difficult to see on a smartphone display even at 1,440p or more. Thanks! 😃
So that's why I found out that s21fe has a much better white balance than the s20fe5g. Exynos vs Snapdragon. I loved the comparison. I really liked exynos colors better, but chopping ears, glasses, and other details are inexcusable. lol
2:24 the exynos didnt failed on HDR! You use tap to focus on the cannon, that is why is brighter! I hate this comparisons, they are never in the same condition.
While it is true that the focus is different he has explained a million times he never taps to focus, he leaves everything to be as automated as possible. So the conditions are essentially the same, the software just took two different approaches.
@@michaliskossyfas5862 what makes these comparisons pointless, there is always a small variation in the lenses and in the sensors, but even so, a real comparison would be to have the same settings on both devices, same shutter speed and same iso to make these claims of which one looks better. Mowdays taking a photo even from a slightly different angle of the same scene can completely change the image.
@@ES-qy2ju I partially agree, but differences like colour science, HDR approach, noise handling etc are also revealed in these comparisons and that can very useful/informative for potential buyers.
@@ES-qy2ju "real comparison would be to have the same settings on both devices, same shutter speed and same iso to make these claims of which one looks better." However, I don't agree on setting the same iso and shutter speed. Why do you think that is necessary? But taking photos with a very bright sun facing the camera, as done many times in video, can be sensitive to the reference camera not having the same position and angle. It has to be said that Xiaomi and Huawei are more sensitive/inconsistent than iPhone and Samsung. And yes, small variations in lenses and sensors could play a role.
If the model with exynos processor would cost 200 dollars less or something similar, there would be no complaints... But in Europe and other parts of the world we are paying the same for a more than obvious worse camera quality. Also noticeable is the heating and a more unstable phone signal coverage in the Exynos version, which produces more heat and battery loss.
They make the perfect conditions for the one they want to make it better... As an example at 9:55, in Exynos he takes the photo with all the light visible behind the kid's head, in SD he almost covers the light... of course the photo in SD will come out better
"in Exynos he takes the photo with all the light visible behind the kid's head, in SD he almost covers the light…" Exactly. A camera should always react to the intensity of the light source. This is not the only example. Taking photos with a sharp sun facing the camera, as done many times in video, can be sensitive to the reference camera not having the same position and angle. If he did a Exynos vs Exynos or Snapdragon vs Snapdragon and all photos looked the same, then I would believe this comparison.
@@pmcpfr People might think that this is just theoretical speculation, but it is very easy to prove. I just took some photos with the s22u of some flowers with clouds in the sky as background. I moved the camera about ⅓ inch and the sky changed color to a more saturated blue. Then I moved again about ⅓ inch and the sky became white and the clouds were not visible anymore. If your object is in the shadow on a sunny day this phenomena appears quite often.
@@TechMikkel Even with the hand-held tripe, which you can use with several mobile phones, the angles are different and modify the photos, or because they capture more vegetation for example, or even more sky.
You guys are taking this too far. It’s just a comparison. This isn’t a comparison where I just took 10-20 pictures and said how I feel. There are hundreds of pictures here. I don’t care which camera is better. I am just trying to help others who are curious or are trying to make a buying decision. It’s not that damn serious.
I have to say on many photos the difference between one and the other felt like the the Exynos had OIS Off... :S Is really this big of a difference even after the updates?
Another excellent comparison, my friend... just yourself to bring a quality content and so complete, not to mention the beautiful place chosen... congratulations! I would like to leave my feedback... On Exynos, I found the HDR and the colors better in general, especially in people, I found the lack of sharpness and details bad, sometimes it seemed like I had lost focus... On Snapdragon, I found the details and sharpness, but the HDR, the oversharpening, and a magenta tone sometimes affecting the faces and the sky mainly bothered me, but also elsewhere in the photo, which I believe is some kind of problem with the 8Gen1 chipset, and not necessarily the S22u Snap, but that bothers me a lot. In both devices, the inconsistency scares me, which would make me this year not recommend such devices as flagships at the camera level. Another important aspect about the cameras, more particularly about the photos, the S21 Ultra after the last update to ONE UI 4.1 was ahead of the S22 Ultra, according to comparisons between the two that I saw in some channels, as well as the photo samples on specialized websites. ... I'll try to explain why both on a hardware and software level. This year I was very angry with the result of the flagships launched so far in terms of camera, especially with Samsung, because I have a S21 Ultra, I think it was the best in terms of photography last year, and after seeing dozens of comparisons this year, I decided to stick to comparing it with the S22 Ultra itself, and such was my disappointment to be able to prove the DOWNGRADE (the CAPADA) that Samsung made in the S22 camera in several aspects, mainly in terms of details of the photos and blurs sides, and because of that I took advantage of my channel to leave a comparison showing the INFERIORITY of the Ultra, S22 in relation to the S21, with overwhelming EVIDENCE... there and opining if you agree with what I show there in the photos or if you have a different opinion. The cover was general from the manufacturers in their flags, and with that Samsung also made me keep quiet waiting for the S23 Ultra. Finally, I don't know if it's asking too much and if you would be able to do that, I would like to ask if you could make an updated comparison of the S22 Ultra with the S21 Ultra in terms of photography mainly... I believe it would be very successful if you with the two devices I could verify the things that I showed there on my channel. A big hug and congratulations again!
This softening is annoying but I wouldn't say it is because of Exynos but rather because of software. I was shocked that Gcam Port app make selfies with better quality than samsung camera app on the same phone.
As long as Samsung does not end this shameful practice of providing a lesser processor in Europe for the same price, I refuse to buy a Samsung device. For now I am at Apple, maybe a Pixel might interest me depending on the performance photos and videos of the next ones. It’s just shameful to have such a difference just because of the processor.
Im from Ireland and it annoys me so much that we only get exynos over here, one thing I notice with having my s21 ultra exynos version it's good the first year it comes out but then the next year it's like the phone goes to shit with the camera quality and then the software. I wish samsung would just get rid of exynos and give us the snapdragon version....

Those who been in manufacturing and design industry knows there are always variation in production batch. There are people who buy lots of CPU chips and only select the the one.
I am living in England. If I buy the snapdragon version (US), will this still work in terms of signal etc etc in the UK? Other than 5g not working, will it work as if it were a UK phone with an EE SIM in? I am not worried about the warranty side of things
Just when i thought i couldn't hate exynos more, this happens. Im really allergic to exynos i despise it. Samsung is like a an insane mental patient doing the same thing over and over and expecting diffrent results yea yea i know they tried with AMD gpu and still failed. They know people hate the exynos and they still dont care its like " IN YA FACE I KNOW YOU WILL STILL BUT IT" i dont care if its better this year, this shouldnt happen we paying for the same phone. If they have to use exynos i dont understand why not use it instedt in their FOLD AND FLIPP PHONES, people who buy flipp and fold phones would not care just as much as we who buy the top s flagship if the exynos performs worse. At least not as much, because you buy a fold because its a cool tech, its not because of camera and battery and performance. But you buy the s flagship to have the greatest samsung has to offer when it comes to camera ,battery , performance.

Can you please do the S20 Ultra Snapdragon vs the S22 Ultra Exynos? I'm very unhappy with the photo's from my S22 Ultra Exynos and want to know if an older Snapdragon Galaxy is better than the newest Exynos.
If you're using a side by side rig to shoot these photos, they are never taking the same exact shot. There will be differences in lighting and composition... although subtle in most cases. Look at your subject as you move your camera 6 inches to one side, simulating a second phone end to end. You'll see the lighting change while you move.

Thank you for this incredible comparison with superb photos and full of joy and happiness, but we can see clearly and I can confirm that the S22 Exynos has made a lot of progress in doing so. I see it every day with my S22 Ultra Exynos but there is still a gap with the Snapdragon here it is sad but I think Samsung continues to make efforts. Thank you for your work.
Never going to buy any samsung phone again as long as they still sell the exynos version here in europe. Just sold my S21. Now i have a 13 pro max, the photo's are very good.
Thx for the comparison. You did a lot of photos but I often noticed a difference in focus aim. As nowadays image optimization refer on what the cam app believes to see and what is important in a foto, I could imagine that this leads to different interpretations and thus image processing. I also really wonder about the quality spread across the same model. Have you ever done a comparison with two phones of the same model, I mean really the same model? I would bet that this will also differ, maybe almost like this. Would be interesting
I take so many photos I think this is a different argument on my side. I am looking at what an average consumer would be able to produce on their phones. As much as a person thinks camera talk is normalized the average person has ZERO idea what any of this means. They just want to know which one takes the better picture by hitting that shutter button. It’s up to the manufacturers to drive consistency across their lineups and ISPs. It’s not my fault.
@@dannywinget The problem is I can't see any difference. It is the same sensor and light variations on where was the focus point in the rendering process. ONLY A lab test could arrive to conclusions. Your test is not real. If I had the two phones I could have prove you are wrong.
@@SabrinaVideo If your phone is not old and suffers from the oldschool severe inconsistency, then why not do a test, where you move the phone slightly and do the usual test setup: indoor, outdoor, hdr, lowlight and so on? You don't need two phones, if you shot steady objects. Prove your point! The new flagsships are more consistent and the probleme has decreased, but there is still this review dilemma: A rewiever should always seek these tricky exposure and white balance conditions to show the full potential of phone instead of the easy shots, where even outdated phones can perform. Therefore a lot of samples is very important. Speaking about lab test: Xiaomi has just announced that the 12s ultra presented tomorrow will not go through the highly critized DxOMark. I know, it's more complicated than just being a lap test.
@@TechMikkel OMG I think you should study a bit about what autofocus points means. It is NOT INCONSISTENCY, it is how it works. Focus points. Flagship sensors are Phase Detection Focus (check it in a datasheet web about phones) so OBVIOUSLY, if you move a little, the SAME processor make different FOCUS AND APERTURE calculations but it doesn't mean better or different. It is incredible the unknowledge of the people about technology
I tested S22 Ultra against my old Xiaomi Mi Note 10 from 2019 today and was surprised to find out that in some of the scenarios the Mi Note 10 wasn't just better, it literally wiped the floor with the S22 Ultra. I'm super confused
No doubt Exynos version, photos and videos much more beautiful during the day, and at night almost ridiculous the SD in certain situations. Nobody cares about details when zooming in on photos. The colours on Exynos are more beautiful for social networks, people in photos look much better, in selfies Exynos is spectacular. More pleasing photos for the eyes. This youtuber (defender of the SD version) tried to deflect the truth of what most people want from a mobile phone camera. Recorded videos at night where none are taken advantage of, who makes videos like that with almost no light???? It's a real crap shoot, it doesn't give any advantage. But in brighter night videos the Exynos is more natural, the SD may have slightly more detail, but that yellow colour is horrible.
Thanks for the comparison! Those differences are unacceptable for a flagship phone that costs ~1200 new. It is deceiving for consumers to see reviews on the larger channels and decide to get the device on those merits and then get a different user experience because the cameras differ that much. With the Exynos you are getting so much worse video performance that one might think that they are from completely different phone models. Consistency is the name of the game for premium devices and Samsung has really missed it with this one. Hope they can fix that, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it.
Great video in general, but one problem. You do a handheld zoom test on a boat and therefore you have only proved that you're left-handed EDIT RIGHT-HANDED, if you had the exynos in the left hand. Anyone could test it by walking slow and holding a phone with one hand and do a 10x zoom recording and see the difference changing from the left hand to the right hand, which is even more visible, if you have to hold two phones at the same time as in the video. Please, do not do these tests handheld.
@@TechMikkel but beyond that it doesn’t return to centre, it’s super annoying if I try to point the video on something else and it simply won’t go there, so then I use more input and just end up overshooting what I was pointing at, I’d rather it would just smooth out bumps and vibrations
Please do a research video on how potentially bogus our camera moon shots are. To me it clearly loads a stock image once you zoom in to the proper position. The image is all blurry and all moonlight as you zoom in, then a white flash, and suddenly there's this crystal clear image. It will detect the shape of the moon and load the necessary image. All of my moon shots look exactly the same every time. Hope I'm wrong about this. Great work on this video. Thank you

@@ES-qy2ju
"real comparison would be to have the same settings on both devices, same shutter speed and same iso to make these claims of which one looks better."
However, I don't agree on setting the same iso and shutter speed.
I never use tap to focus. I took the picture with just snapping the shot. I don’t ever tap to focus when I do these tests unless I state it.
Sometimes that heavier contrast as shown in this video can be a good thing. I overall go with Snapdragon though..
They make the perfect conditions for the one they want to make it better...
As an example at 9:55, in Exynos he takes the photo with all the light visible behind the kid's head, in SD he almost covers the light... of course the photo in SD will come out better
"in Exynos he takes the photo with all the light visible behind the kid's head, in SD he almost covers the light…"
Exactly.
@@TechMikkel Exactly 👍
I remember requesting for this a couple of months back, u said u were waiting for updates
Thanks it came through at last.
I have to say on many photos the difference between one and the other felt like the the Exynos had OIS Off... :S Is really this big of a difference even after the updates?
I have the exynos version. I am from germany. And i can definitely tell either he forgot to usw the OIS or he has a defective unit.
2:14 how is the framing and the people in the exact same place on both shots?
Because I took them less than one second back to back. The people in the back ground were still.

@@androidoneiu5206 lol, good joke

I'm very unhappy with the photo's from my S22 Ultra Exynos and want to know if an older Snapdragon Galaxy is better than the newest Exynos.
even S20FE shoot better then S22 Ultra with exynos.

Comparing phones in AUTO mode, seriously? A simple difference in position make the white balance and exposure totally different. Did you know it?
Indeed, but all the reviewers do it that way and hopefully they produce 300 or more samples to eliminate it.
@@SabrinaVideo
If your phone is not old and suffers from the oldschool severe inconsistency, then why not do a test, where you move the phone slightly and do the usual test setup: indoor, outdoor, hdr, lowlight and so on?
Are both rootable?

@@theistnate yeah, but the camera can compete with Snapdragon
this test look like u mix some photo from snap to exynos and conversely

I am right handed
It's enough to scupper the comparison...
@@dannywinget You were recording with two phones at the same time and with what hand did you hold the exynos?
