In the song, Townshend sings about the delusions and drug use of the wealthy and hedonistic. The lyrics describe a party in which people hide from their problems behind a façade.

I remember as a kid first hearing this on a cheap clock radio in mono, I really thought they were saying "living with sluts" instead of "Eminence Front". My dad thought it was hilarious . My mom.... Not so much. Anyway, great reaction to another Pete Townshend masterpiece
"The Kids Are Alright' Tour 1989... Rich Stadium Buffalo N.Y. What a show they Put On. Roger ran in place during the entire "Who Are You" song like he was being chased looking back while singing. He was 42 years old. Legends.
One of the great rock bands in history, right up there with the Beatles, Stones, Led Zep, the Doors and Floyd, an one of my fave songs by them. As per yr usual standards, perfect breakdown of the song. You're the best! 💯
Cover art: 1982. The new video craze is in full swing. Post-punk, which targeted groups like the Who as dinosaurs. The young kid is clearly ignoring the group - and he is not playing pinball nor is he a "wizard." - The group looks to the camera, a post Keith Moon Who: "It's Hard" indeed. Spot on commentary!
Always liked this song. Such a good rocker. Your comments afterwards absolutely nailed it. You should check out Face The Face and Give Blood from Pete Townsend's White City album and Free Me from Roger Daltrey's McVicar soundtrack.
ruclips.net/video/5HTVMh7fur4/видео.html, JMBOY here's a live video of the Who in 1982 from Toronto Canada n they R playing Eminence Front. Check out Pete Townsend in his dance moves n his guitar playing. It's Awesome.

Pete Townsend was on the cutting edge of audio technology.
Of all the musicians people say don't get the respect or credit they deserve Pete is the one. He's brilliant.

Really good synopsis of this song.
Happy to say my The Who collection has every album/song they ever released, as it should be.

I met my wife at that stadium during the Frampton Comes Alive tour around 1976.

It seems like with most The Who fans I know this song kinda is a split opinion. I’m ok with it, I always liked the intro…it’s a good mood setter.
