I'm restoring an antique and rusty lantern from 1880! - ASMR 4K DIY

Hi,
This lantern is full of history. In the 1860s a certain "CHAVAGNAT" settled in Paris. He opened a tinsmith factory (Boilermaker sheet metal worker) and recruited 150 people specializing in lighthouses and lanterns in 1972.
The factory is taken over by Alfred Boas in 1880, a twenty-eight-year-old central engineer. However in 1882 the premises were ravaged by fire. The factory is rebuilt the following year. The factory then gave way to the electrical factory between 1926 and 1929.
I practice the restoration of objects in poor condition. This is a passion, so it is not my profession. Just enjoy the video.

The electrolysis method of removing rust is just so very satisfying to watch. Despite all of the corrosion, the pieces were in remarkably good condition -- there were no holes rusted through, etc.
The brief segment on the history of the company was a nice bonus, thank-you.

You did a fantastic job on the restoration of this antique carriage lamp, beautiful period correct colours too. 👌I do early lighting restoration as well, the only thing that bothered me was that you used modern nuts and bolts to reassemble the piece. It would've been much for authentic to the period if you had riveted the sections back together. Great video mon ami! - Dave

Вмятины нужно выравнивать а нетолько шпатлевать взял и просто замазал огромную вмятины как будто трудно пару раз ударить молотком

Мой вам добрый совет: когда паяете такие железки, используйте паяльную кислоту или ортофосфорную в качестве флюса. И паять гораздо удобнее электрическим паяльником, такие вещи паяются паяльником не менее 100 ватт мощности и ОБЯЗАТЕЛЬНО с толстым массивным жалом из меди.
Хотя, можно паять и горелкой, но лучше все-таки горелку иметь с узким, направленным пламенем. Греть надо аккуратно, потому что у оловянно-свинцовых припоев ограниченный диапазон рабочих температур, для качества пайки вреден и перегрев, и, естественно, недогрев.
Главная проблема пайки в этом видео - отсутствие кислотного флюса. Вот попробуйте, и увидите, как по металлу под флюсом побежит припой, сам, под влиянием капиллярного эффекта!

That long spring, inside the tube, pushes the candell up into a Nozzle at the top of that tube , so that as the candle burns away, it is replenished from below . Presumably the Nozzle has been lost , and not yet renewed . . Ok.

You should really flip your vice jaws over to the smooth side, or get a set of soft jaws. I can't see that the bondo will last long with the heat if you use it for long enough. And I hope you used high temperature paint!!

Good job. You do need to get a set of plastic applicators for the body filler. The cardboard you are using is not rigid enough for proper application on flat surfaces and doesn't bend uniformly on curved surfaces.
