    Not bad, bro. There are a few things I would've done different but its still decent work. Hopefully those pins hold, as soft as they are...I understand why you didnt give it a full sharpening too.

    Excellent work. That is an impressive weapon... I guess the designers wanted French soldiers to be prepared in case they needed to fight elephants!..😚

    I acquired two of those with butchered hilts. Since the collector value had been destroyed, I re-hilted them as short swords, properly sharpened. They look wicked.

    J'adore ! Quand j'étais gamin il y avait des baïonnettes qui étaient ratées dans un grenier, dont une Chassepot, une Gras et une Rosalie et toutes avec leur fourreau. Tout a été mis à la poubelle (hélas). J'ai hate de voir la restauration de ce beau revolver (Liégeois?).

      @JSNRestoration  10 месяцев назад +2

      Quelle dommage, je n’ai malheureusement pas le fourreau.. C’est un revolver Français(Lefaucheux). :)

    Great job. I have a Gras bayonet and looking to learn how to restore it. For future videos maybe you can tell us what products ( like for polish ) you use. ( 6:36 / 11:49 / 12:07 )

      Thank you for your comment! I use regular polishing compound. The second step is ‘L’impeca,’ a much finer polishing compound.

    There are many Chassepot collectors, as there are lots of different types.
    I have an example made for an American Remington rifle, with a German made blade, that was issued by the Egyptian army, with the St.Etienne Armoury engraved on the blade spine.
    Madness.

      You are a beautiful bayonet! unfortunately on mine, the back is full of holes..

      Hi, I also have an Egyptian Remington rolling block Bayonet similar to this one,
      made in Germany, with no spine markings. It surprised me that these bayonets
      were mounted to the side of the Remington, - they are so heavy that mounted like that they couldn't have helped the accuracy of the gun.

    Очень не аккуратная работа. Такое ощущение, что ее выполняет новичек или человек далекий от таких дел.

    Elle a perdue une bonne partie de sa valeur. Était-il besoin de démonter la totalité? Les rivets d'origine ? Pour les remplacer par du métal neuf. En tant que collectionneur je n'approuve pas du tout😢

      Bayonets shouldn't be really sharp tho, the main purpose is to stab, not slash, sharpening a bayonet wouldn't be all that useful, it'd be more of a waste of time
