Intro freaking me out.
In Wags We Trust, thanks for all the hard work on the videos sir
The picture on the desk 😆
Love that joystick-gloryhole
Love the through desk joystick setup! Always bothers me a little how far out from the desk you're pushed with a desk mount hanging off the end.
Agreed. This is one of reasons I still have my warthog stuck on top of desk, with my dodgy eyes sitting any further back is out question. Nice solution.
Yea seriously I can't believe this is the first time I've seen the joystick through desk idea, I might just try that (if my IKEA desk isn't just pure sawdust filler..)
Totally agree! I got my TM Joystick on a monstertech mount and I actually turned the mounting plate 90 degrees before mounting the TM Joystick so it can be closer to my desk, yet not hitting the desk at the right height.
Welcome back! Glad to see you’re well!
Thats a great looking setup Mav, amazing some of the kit you can get now.
Congratulations on the new HOTAS, mine arrived yesterday and enjoying it a lot already.
Been missing watching you fly :)
Congrats mate. Deserve the best. Always. Knock it outta the park and show us what it's about
That's great mate. Well done. What an awesome setup you have. All the best 👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Hi, Virpil CM3 is very cool. More buttons than you need for Hornet, which is very handy.
I use the red lèves on the base for:
- T1: refuelling probe
- T2: master arm
- T3: hook
- T4: landing gear
Momentary buttons
- T5: flap up/ down.
- T6: heading DEL
- T7: Course SEL
Rotary:
E1: COM1 channel +/- & pull
E2: COM2 channel +/- & pull
MODE: ECM rotary
😉
I also have the CM3 and have a similar setup to yours but in different spots :)
Thanks for listing your setup! 🙂 I’m just making the jump from War Thunder (on PS4) to DCS with a proper gaming pc and peripherals. With all this new gear there’s so much to learn and having a good key binding setup to start out with is a huge help. I’m going with the Virpil CM3 throttle and probably the Virpil Constellation stick. I was also thinking about the VKB Gunfighter Mk 3 Ultimate, which has got some good reviews. I’m not sure what you’d recommend for a pc setup. I have about 1300 to spend on a pc but only $700 if I get the CM3 & Constellation stick (which I can get a good deal on). Any recommendations for a good gaming pc in this range?
@@catsooeyHow’s it going for you in DCS nowadays? I usually ask when I see comments like this because I myself had a pretty damn hard time for the first 3-4 months almost two years ago. I wondered what the hell I had gotten myself into and thought I had just wasted all that money but today it’s one of my greatest hobbies!!😎🤙🏼🤙🏼
Great to hear from you, Mav.
As a fellow virpil Hornet main I'm very curious to see how you end up setting up your hotas. I hope you do a detail led look or maybe provide your key bind files. I also always wonder about your keyboard shortcuts. Love the content!
Thanks for the idea!
Hey mav congrats mate
Hope you’re killin’ it in life. And yes, you want to be the tanker pilot. Autopilot and coffee. Per diem pay and babes. Great places like St. Johns, Gander, Keflavik.
Thanks brother, hope you're well my friend!
New set up looks excellent and so clean Mr Maverick, its been a while since we spoke, hope your well brother 👍
Thanks big man and same to you mate! Hopefully catch you on a stream soon
Nice setup dude! All you need now is to map all the actual Hornet Hotas to your Hotas. No keyboard in the middle of a furball FFS lol!
Happy for you bro!
I'm not a purist brother that doesnt bother me, as long as he's dead and I'm alive I'm ok with using the keyboard :D But I hear you, I'm going to work more and more on just using the HOTAS.
Sweet setup, Mav!
Recommend to persistently try to handle the mouse with the left hand for a few weeks.
Learning to mouse with the left was a game changer for me, being able to keep the right hand on the stick and alternating between throttle and mouse with the left to manipulate cockpit switches is a blast.
Thanks for the tip!
I need to try that. Good tip
Could you do a setup tour of your system and how you did everything?
Sounds like my CH Pro Pedals that I got for Christmas of 1997, with that new USB plug. Opened it up and was like WTF is this. Had to wait two days to get a USB card. Bought the Thrustmaster TPR pedals last year.
Never seen a desk with a joystick gloryhole before, must admit it is a pretty neat idea 😁
This is the way.
I have two 3d pros. The first one I bought just out of high school in 2005. Bought a 2nd one after watching your videos a few years ago. When I moved a few months ago I found my first one. How do you like the new setup?
It’s a big change Ben but I love it, feels a lot more precise than the Logitech
Every time someone asked me if they needed a fancy HOTAS, I was like naaahhh the professional can do it with a 3D pro :). No need for fancy hardware to be good at DCS ;)
And I did it like a boss for 13 years with a 3D pro brother 😉
You finally changed your setup after 20 years? I guess hell just froze over... 🤣
last bastion had fallen
maybe I didn't pay attention if you mentioned it in the video but how do you turn the camera without the vr headset? I'm a complete newbie at this so take it easy on the judging lmao. I wanna build a setup but the vr headset prices are just out of my budget. At first I thought you were using keyboard buttons to move the camera but then I saw you moving it with your hands off the keyboard and I was like "hold up" hahahahah something on your headset maybe? feels hopeful to know that I can play this without paying 300 euros for a decent vr headset :S
I use TrackIR my friend, it’s headtracking software so when I move my head the view changes.
@@104thMaverick I appreciate you taking the time to answer brother! I’ll definitely search that up, thanks for the help.
You need more buttons!
Love your setup and channel brother!
The only "bad" thing I see with that set up is no wrist support. It appears he could get fatigued over a long play session. I keep my stick low and canted for comfort.
Drinking game: Take a shot every time Mav says, "My new virpil setup." by the end you'll be dead!
Jk man, happy for ya.
When can I move in?
😂. After I get a night in Typhoon Towers 😜
Such a shame Australia added a 35% additional import tax on imports from Belarus on anything without exemptions. That basically means you end up paying 50% in taxes if buying Virpil equipment. I wish the government had picked certain good types but no… :(
