Mark Lanegan told in his book, "Sing Backwards And Weep", about the time he was in town when met Anthony's Dad at a bar or party. The Dad invited Mark and two very young girls back to his house. As the one young girl was sitting on the Dads lap, Mark thought the dude was weird because he's making out with a 15 year old, and the other girl was for Mark. Of all people, Mark didn't want to make out with jail bait so he asked where the bathroom was. In the bathroom, there were pictures of his son Anthony plastered all over the bathroom walls. Mark thought that to be too weird for his liking and snuck out the back door.
Hi mark. Have a seat. I’m Chris
weird as
Wow, Anthony's dad needs to be in jail and someone's bitch...
Such a great book.

Marks book is one of the best books I've read. I'm not a big Dave Grohl fan and I never thought his book would be that good because he never did anything crazy so I thought it would be boring. But it was also one of the best books I've read. You can also get the audio free on RUclips, Dave narrates it too!
The 90 shirt is a skateboarding tshirt popularized by Chris Cornell
Hey, email me and we will get you a shirt.
@@AmericanSpyFox I want one too!!!
Just wanted to note there was a mixup, but I did end up getting it. Have worn it several times already. Thx

I will ALWAYS remember reading Anthony Kiedis' book 📖 Scar Tissue. I was just about to turn 18 and those hours, laying in bed, completely and utterly captivated, enthralled, and fascinated remains to this day, one of the best reading 📚 experiences of my Life. I am a VORACIOUS reader and have been since childhood. I have read innumerable titles and Scar Tissue is unforgettably one of the best. 🖤
I read half of it when it 1st came out. I haven't even finished it still.
i havent heard voracious reader for so long. i used to be. in a bit of a slump. but anthonys book was exciting and so real. peace
It's not a skinny book...I read it to funniest part is when him and flea jump off the roofs to the pools and missed !
You want a gnarly read? Check out Papa John by John Phillips of the Mommas and the Poppas. It will blow your mind how depraved that cat was.
Papa John is a sobering insight into how low human beings can go when heavy drugs are driving. I could not read Papa John again but still have my hardback copy. Scary stuff in that book!@@Rand_al_Thor372
All my friends loved Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, we fucking hated bush
Alice In Chains is still the best! 😁
I saw Bush when they were touring Razorblade Suitcase. Still to this day one of the best shows i have ever seen. They killed it.
I saw them too for ,£10 I'm from UK I saw them in leeds
I'm sorry, but BUSH SUCKS!!!!!!
Your duo is fantastic, guys!
Great episode! There’s a Nirvana subreddit that I look at sometimes and there’s always people who are asking how they can get their guitar to sound like Kurt’s for whatever song they wanna play and they also recently were talking about NirvanaGuitars. People may think Nirvana has simple sounding songs, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to have their sound.
I'm really into biographies, gonna check it out.
Marie gives "Serial Mom" vibes. (the movie)
Chris Cornell wore that shirt during the TOTD performance at the Moore.
and everywhere... but yes! ✌💜
Great chemistry between you two. Excited to watch the series evolve, and excellent visuals with the content ASF :)....And love the video opening with drums, equalizer visual and roll of patrons. Very creative.
No one ever notices the extra editing steps to try to make it more appealing. Thanks!
Knowing what happened to river, changed my outlook on r.h.c.p forever. They came on the radio the other morning and it opened the door to a conversation with my 12yr old about what had happened that night. We then listened to spyfox river Phoenix episode and she knew right away who's fault it was. So heartbreaking

Aaron rash is great cause he rebuilt the metal guitar that kurt borrowed from albini. Nirvanaguitar dude is awesome cause he did a deep dive on the fecal matter demos tone and background info. Both rock but those are the two differing distiction that impressed me.
Isn’t the 90 shirt from an old clothing line that’s geared towards skateboarders ..etc ?
Silver chair
The frog album was the best too!
Great news episode!
Thanks for sticking around through thick and thin. It's almost like a dramatic marriage lol.

Why'd you delete your Gary Cobain videos and the stuff claiming the autopsy report was different than one just released?
I’ve witnessed a death by broken heart. Went to my great grandma and great grandpas double funeral. She passed the day after he did. He was an alcoholic and she was completely healthy. Also I live a county east of Indianapolis and went to a lot of shows at Bogarts. Got to hang out with Danzig after a few shows there. Also saw Pantera and white Zombie at Cindy Gardens. My brothers buddy was a high up stage and sound worker and got us back stage to meet them. I was 13 or 14 and Sean gave me a pic she used in that show as well as Dime game me one. It’s all black and one side says Cowboys from Hell and the other had Dimes signature. I’ve keeps them in a 1500# gun safe for a couple decades will never part from those possessions
I had Sublime Bassist ran my nightclub bar as a Bartender one night at Hendrix family bay party..
There is an excerpt from Danny Goldberg's book, where he suggests that Kurt was a little jealous of how Dave sang... I would like you to focus on Goldberg, draw a profile of him, because at various times he seems to be very manipulative and for Courtney, I don't doubt that the two had an affair and it may be that he covered up a lot about Kurt's death...
Interesting to say the least that Danny Goldberg had managed both Nirvana and Hole. He was also married to Rosemary Carroll. He has experience in PR, journalism, and as a record company exec and president spanning across Warner Bros., Mercury, Atlantic, Modern, Swan Song and Artemis Records.
Hole's last album was released on Mercury Records, owned by parent company Universal Music Group, which also bought DGC/Geffen.
Goldberg was the president of the ACLU of southern California that brought Courtney Love as a special guest at the awards dinner to present the torch of freedom award. (See Kurt and Courtney by Nick Broomfield)
Goldberg was present and helped to organize the intervention to force Kurt into rehab.
@@ctrlundo Sometimes the people we trust most are the ones who want to screw us...
In Come As You Are (before Kurt's death), he seems to not much care for Courtney. In everything after Kurt's death, he's very pro-Courtney. I think Goldberg's name suggests what he's all about. He follows the coin!
@@AmericanSpyFox Yes... I don't doubt that she could have seduced him too...

Oh idk...I've watched a few videos where DG is in the background and he can't get his eyes off of CL. One is a video in their trailer at a concert, his eyes follow her every move adoringly...the other footage is at the MTV awards where he is doing the same, but not as blatant, as Rosemary was with him.
Where have all the recent Kurt Cobain videos been taken down? (Autopsy / Uncle Gary etc)
He took them down as RUclips said he had breached their rules/guidelines. ASF also had a tanturm and said he was done posting anything about Kurt Cobain because of the comments ie people were questioning his inconsistancies etc and said the only people worth bothering about were the ones who paid him on Patreon, that they were the important ones. In other words, it's all about the money! ( and always has been with him!)
RUclips channel Nirvana Guitars! Thanks for mentioning him, Charles! He’s the best at breaking down Cobain sound on literally every guitars. He played Skystang 1, Kurt’s Fender Mustang
Nirvana Guitars is a great resource for people wanting to recreate their sound with gear you can buy off the shelf for the most part.
Aaron Rash does more of a deep dive tonal investigation. Like why this specific piece of vintage gear like an unobtainium celestion speaker from this year/month, is exactly why kurt's tone was so hard to get spot on. Both have their place and their content is excellent.
Aaron Rash is wayyyy better. NirvanaGuitars hardly ever gets it right IMO.
Hey yeah I saw Bush in 1995 with veruca salt
Me too! Awesome show in Nashville! Where did you see them?
I saw No Doubt when they were touring with Bush in 96. Gavin and Gwen where walking around campus together before the show and he tried to bum a cig from a friend who wouldn't give up his last. We were all like 13/14 then and told Gavin to buy his own, being a rich rockstar and all.
@CrazyLazyDave Nice, it was in Cleveland. It was during the razorblade suitcase tour so I must be wrong about it being 95. Maybe 97.
@ctrlundo Hah funny. Respect not giving up his last smoke no matter who's asking
@@thehello2916 also, being 14, it seemed like it was hard to buy smokes. It wasn't, it was the 90s, you could buy them pretty much everywhere. Nobody cared
But Gavin was all snooty about it, that was the best part. Ha
Charles and Marie,
I really appreciate the updates! I can’t wait to see the movie about Anthony Kiedis, and to go and see Bush and Jerry Cantrell in concert!
I was also happy to hear that Sinéad O’Connor passed of natural causes.
I loved the discussion that you two had about Kurt Cobain‘s guitar sound, I’m going to research out the RUclipsr’s you were talking about.
And I didn’t know Dave Grohl was involved in writing five songs!
Thank you so much it was another great episode! 🎶🎶🎶🦊🎶🎶🎶
You should check out Idlewild, which is a grunge/punk band from Scotland. They have a great album called Hope Is Important from 1998.
Bush are English, not American. And Grunge was a SCENE in Seattle, not a music genre. So Bush, being Brits, could not-by definition-be Grunge.
By that reasoning the Sex Pistols, the Damned, the Clash and the Slits weren't Punk. A scene can become a genre.
I'm so happy to hear that. There's another human out there that appreciates that alien song as much as I do
It’s pronounced curr mudge un
Easily one of my favorite b-sides
Dude i used to pan handle outside of bogarts! You guys are just in my back yard. I messaged you a little while ago on Instagram. I grew up with these bands. I got 7 years clean and sober. I'm specing the perfect grunge guitar build, man... Who dey am I right?
I noticed a lot of videos of kurts autopsy were deleted. The gart cobain video and the diagram video?
Doesn't seem an appropriate time to talk about it after what happened with Grant's daughter. Too many of his followers were saying very disturbing, inappropriate things and I won't be apart of that. I've spoken with Gary more and there'll be more on that in a few weeks when the freaks have found something else to gossip about.
Yep. Eric at Nirvanaguitars is THE best. He met Pat Smear, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic after spending the day with Ernie Bailey and Chad Cobain before before the auction of Skystang I. The video shows all of this, including Eric playing Skystang I with the original strings. He is fantastic and a really lovely, humble man.
I saw Bush 4 times.
Ready for the next episode!
Scar tissue book was epic, read it years ago and it still stays with me.
Just out of curiosity is Marie's shirt referring to George Michael's Freedom song in 1990?
I remember buying bush first album, pretty dope for some bougie britts😅👍

Ok I'm wondering if anyone besides myself feels that River Phoenix was murdered by John Furshante of the RHCP , because of the drink he handed River and an hour or so later River Phoenix was dead 💔
@@fogpumasit’s pretty common knowledge now Frusciante gave him that drink unfortunately.
He's may have killed him... but it's not murder, murder implies intent. I don't think John meant to kill him.
@@chriskucholtz6967 absolutely but he went along with the cruel and fatal trick unfortunately. Apparently that’s what added to his down years.
That’s what you’re supposed to hear
We"ll never know hat his intent was. John was so fucked up on drugs at the time that he was suspectable to all sorts of darkness, no excuse, but still... who knows

It breaks my heart how I used to get top billing on the supporters list, but now....*fights back the tears* ...not even my screen name makes the cut! I donated money when I had some, even the emergency handicapped ramp fund waaaayyyyy BITD!! Hell i even designed a snazzy logo which i refused payment for because I support this cause; Kurdt was a good dude who did NOT DESERVE what was done to him. There's nothing anyone can say that could convince me that he would abandon his child to be raised by courtni luv in his absence, no fucking way. Suicidal folk dont book 2 flights to Atlamta and then try to upgrade the seats no less!!!
He was in love with Kirsten and it was mutual which just enraged eric The Ghoul erlandson juuuusst enough for cuortne to shame him into being the trigger man. That's my hypothesis on the matter and im solid on both of my points of contention with the official story.
ur right man. all those Kirsten stories blew my mind....bc courtney slept w everyone. she collected trophies and manhandled them. prob got kurdt done. look. polygraphs. not admissible in court. buuuut most people expose themselves. so someone like el duce passed 2! ur either a psychopath or been taught to beat the box. anyway im with u and kirsten.....so sad, u could picture him falling for her bc courtney was a terrorist so a gentle muso/artist like kirsten would be the greenest grass. peace man
the shirt is from Kevin Staab's clothing company
No Doubt not grunge
grunge isn't even really a genre or "sound", it was more so a period in time
@@capslock4959This! Aic and mother love bone or screaming trees didn't always have the same sound
Living it during the early days-never referred to as grunge. That was a marketing afterthought for those who arrived when the party was ending. Just like Singles was not considered a Hollywood sell-out…quite the opposite and an introduction of a great compilation of artists and music in 1991.
@@Erebus1111 Yeah I was there then before it had a name. When RHCP was funk.

Yep some spouses often die of a broken heart after the one they love passes on
Then there are other spouses who live high on the hog after they get rid of the famous old spouse.
2, possibly 3 come to mind.❤❤❤
"You can take a boy out of ol'Dixieland, but you'll never take ol'Dixie from a boy."
Dave, nor Krist helped write SLTS. Kurt just gave the writing credits since he was going to take the majority of writing credits and 100% lyrics. So he gave them credit on that song so they would always make money off of it. That’s been known for years.
CCR from NorCal..
Ok..i just have GOT to say..."bush" was really kinda sorta Grunge. And i thought that was the Stoopidest band name i Ever Heard. Having said thst, i also thought that about Tool❤😂❤ive since seen a different light😊

Correct...Gavin & Marilyn were together for quite some time
Sound comes from the soul, not from what amps, guitars and pedals you use
What the hell? None of these bands/singers were grunge!!!!! Man, i lived in Seattle and through this time and nobody even listened to these guys( except Sublime). I went to tons and tons of concerts. Some headlines like no doubt and Bush....people walked rt . outta the concert and left the place ...went hm.!!!! And maybe 5 would stay behind wanting to watch. Onetime when Bush came out to play, these guys started the side of the stage on fire before they left!!! LMAO!!!!

One thing else, I watched that guy and how he shows you how to make that Nirvanas sound. I already have the DS1 pedal and know about the tuning on a lot of the songs and how that helps. The hidden track was on the CD I had and not on my vinyl copy from back then and now I have the 30th anniversary nevermind Vinyl with a 7” single with Endless nameless and sliver and 2 more tracks. Got some cool Nirvana vinyl like 2 versions of Bleach, one with 10 tracks and one with 12 and an old 12” of come as you are and some other cool vinyl of that great band.
...L. Skynyrd has ZERO to do with Alabama...and WAY too much chat about Bush, a band your bffs Grohl and Novoselic LOATHE...
Aaron Rash has done some incredible research with Kurts sound, I’m glad its him and not me! The thing that fascinates me most is Kurt was just grabbing gear that worked for him, and it’s all so unique.
Marie is so fine is she single
Am right out of touch and being from the UK I’ve never heard of Bush.
Nirvana guitars does a good job of catching the general sound of each Nirvana album. Aaron Rash has done a much more intensive research driven job of catching every minute detail of In Utero. They both have done well, but Aaron Rash is the real deal, Nirvana Guitars is generic. And I don't say that to criticize Nirvana Guitars. It should be easy, right? It shouldn't cost thousands and thousands of dollars to get the Nirvana tone.
BS Kurt was never realy a friend with Kurt. Kurt did wane kick him out a few times. And would have left anyway in the end. Weird is that friends around Dave all die, and he is one of the riches artist out there . Not all is Courney . And Dave and Counrty are all in the for the money.
