    A new Biography about the life of Kristen Pfaff has been written by, Guy Mankowski. Will it reach for the truth and help to bring justice to Kristen's family or will it be another story according to what Courtney Love & her attorney's will allow to be told? I am excited but proceeding with caution.
    However, I haven't even had a chance to read the book yet & have already learned a couple amazing things about Kristen Pfaff I'd like to share with you in this video.

      @@bruiseviolet777 that's awesome you were a punk cheerleader. I feel a connection with Kristen from our hometown but also because I admire her studying and playing music it's something I always wanted to learn professionally, I self taught in my 20s but stopped playing, need to start again. I was 9 when SLTS came out , the other girls were crushing on NKOTB, they were "cute" but my crush was Kurt. I never really had crushes on celebrities tbh Kurt was really my only true celebrity crush until this day. I thought others were cute but my 9 yo self wanted to marry Kurt LOL. I've been thinking of contacting ASF and seeing if the community wants to write messages to Kristen and I can leave them with a flower, I can record myself doing it so you all can see the grave site but I don't want any credit for it, I'd rather remain anonymous because 15 min of clout off anyone especially a celebrity I love and respect who's passed away, isn't my thing. ❤️🙏☺️

I totally think us here in the ASF community would be up for it, and it's really punk rock of you to remain anonymous and not take advantage of Kristen like Courtney and her leeches did. We are left to ponder what could have been, had Kristen and Kurt been able to make good their escape from Courtney. Would they have collaborated? Would they have become a couple? Would they have taken a new musical direction, perhaps a happier one, once they had made a new start?
    Rock & roll has always been about expressing angst. It is beautiful to think that Kurt and Kristen could have gotten past their own angst in a new city, and done something wonderful. Given her musical education and background, and pairing it with his fame and notoriety (and her beauty; we know what sells, and she did resemble Kate Bush), it might have led to a mainstream rebirth of prog.

    • @scottcharney1091
      @scottcharney1091 Год назад +3

      @@jadeariellevaughn4695 That interview is with the Canadian channel MuchMusic. That clip is right at the beginning of ASF's video #15, and indeed it is a painful moment. The interviewer goes quiet, along with everyone else, even the people (Eric Erlandson & Patty Schemel) who have essentially stood by Courtney. Melissa Auf Der Maur just seems awkward, as she of course was not involved with the band at that time and wouldn't have much of a perspective.
      Patty is interesting; she was very close to Kristen (they were roommates during the tumultuous recording of Live Through This); apparently Kristen even had a bisexual experiment with her! Sadly, they were using drugs together, and yet, to the amazement of the production crew, they were nailing their parts, at times in a single take. Patty had a front-row seat to Courtney's abuse of Kristen, and it seems safe to assume that she knew how close Kristen & Kurt were. Patty was also close with Kurt; there's a cute picture of the two of them lying/laying on either side of Frances.
      Through it all, Patty takes great offense at anything other than the "official story" around Kurt's death. Courtney did save her from homelessness by paying her to drum on Courtney's flop of a solo album, and that's no small thing. Even so, it all makes me wonder.

      @@scottcharney1091 No bisexuaI experiment at all... Kristen dated Jenni Olson from the late '80s to the early 90s and was brokenhearted when Jenni dumped her. Kristen was into females way earlier than Seattle. Before Kurt's deth, the rumor was that Kristen was with Patty and Eric and that she had tried to have something with CL too (Kristen knew CL had slept with many women in the past). KP was thought of as being promiscuous, which honestly I don't know if was the case, but if she was, good for her! Nothing wrong with sleeping around when you're in your late 20s.

    Sorry, but if Kristen self administered the heroin to herself with a needle, then that's her fault not Courtney. She was a heroin addict and she relapsed. Most heroin fatalities are when users have been clean from drugs for weeks or months.

      @scottcharney1091 Год назад +5

      Nobody made her inject, but if Erlandson brought heroin to her, and it appears that he did, he knew damn well what would likely happen. It gets worse if Kristen didn't request it (bringing heroin to someone in recovery will trigger a ferocious relapse, and he knew this), and worse still if the dose was especially pure, or even tainted. This is where the unseen toxicology report becomes very interesting, especially considering who performed the autopsy.

While I’ve actively soaked up as much about Kurt as I’ve been able to, while it doesn’t happen a lot, I do still come across information I wasn’t aware of previously. I’m sure there is plenty that Michael Azarad wasn’t aware of and he had HOURS alone with Kurt and I’m sure had conversations that were just small talk that he hasn’t previously mentioned. Unless someone has been with you non stop and is totally open with you, it’s difficult for any human to know absolutely EVERYTHING about another person, especially with someone who is only marginally famous that had many interactions with others that haven’t been largely discussed.

    What I've found, from my friends death, that the only time the people get charged (at least in MD) is if they sold the drugs under false pretenses • if they stated the drug was heroin but was actually fentanyl, they will be charged • if they stated the drug was dope, and it indeed was clean dope, they wouldn't be charged.
    The only reason the two went to prison for my friends death was because the dope was sold under false pretenses • if you just decided to hit the drug as hard as you normally do, after you've stopped for a while, unfortunately, that's all on you (which I've also seen w a handful of friends,)

      That's very interesting about drug charges, I'm not sure if that would have been in place in the 90s tbh if drugs are found, with a dead body then it makes for lousy police work IMHO. Whilst possible she could have relapsed, if Courtney or Eric did visit the night kp died it warrants further investigation. However we know that Courtney used to rat out dealers she fell out with. She would probably have been outside of suspicion so not to lose her in a big drug bust.

    Thanks for uploading this video and can't wait for the next one! I too wonder whether or not this book will be detailed or more of a way to make money. If you're gonna write an autobiography, you need to know practically everything, even what you don't include in the book. You shouldn't suddenly not know things that other people know about when those other people aren't writing the book. Sometimes you might miss a fact or two, but I feel like it's more than they just missed a couple things during the research period. Hopefully the book being made for money is not the case, but we'll have to see. Also, you make a great point that even if Kristen took the drugs, someone gave them to her and she was not looking to die. She was looking to leave. Her life was taken if she herself took the substance.

      @@natalie_rose2861 I agree. and Kurt made Courtney sign a pre-nup before they married in 1992. She saw that Kristen and Kurt were potentially becoming smitten. She was a jealous person, very narcissistic, smart, and Machiavellian. She could not live with Kurt falling for her bassist of all people, who happened to be much more talented musically and had much more creative interests in common with Kurt. She could not deny that Kurt would be drawn to her, and that Kristen would easily reciprocate interest as well. Courtney had every motivation to prevent that from happening. She could not live with getting divorced, being left with barely a fraction of Kurt's networth at that point which would've been child support for Frances. So she hired Allen Wrench, a psycho Satanist, to have Kurt killed, and then she had eric the hole guitar player purposely tempt Kristen to use heroin again even though she'd been sober for several months, and ended up Od'ing her. Thats why Eric was a blabbering mess at her funeral that he wasn't invited to, because of the guilt. Courtney was notoriously known for having more drugs connections than a CIA drug trafficker. She's known to use drugs with other famous musicians, Scott Wieland etc.

      Kurt and Kristens deaths were also right before and during the time Holes popularity was really taking off. If there's one thing Courtney knows its the press, which she used to her advantage all the time. Having her new, hot, musically talented bassist quit her band and get with her husband and involve a messy divorce, where revelations about her might surface, right before or as Live Through This is coming out would have made for some interesting headlines and painted Courtney in a pretty bad light and probably would have turned Kurts fans against her. Instead she gets the grieving widow to the voice of a generation narrative and in a sense gets to pick up where Kurts "martyrdom" left off. I think his death definitely helped propel her career more, or at least in a different trajectory than it would have taken had he lived and they split up.

    Dude, I'm glad you bring up tolerance. I have never believed the claim that Cobain was "too high" to move, much less attempt suicide. This theory completely ignores tolerance, which a deep pocketed rock star is bound to have high levels of.
    Courtney may be a horrible human who's incapable of empathy but that is a far cry from being a criminal mastermind with two deaths under her belt. The only thing that ever held me from believing Cobain was murdered is the fact that none of his bandmates and band techs ever accused Courtney of anything despite half of them hating her guts and believing that her caustic personality is what led Cobain toward addiction, if not suicide.
    It's pretty easy to see that there is no love lost between Courtney and Dave + Krist. I can't imagine Krist covering for Courtney if he truly believed he was murdered. After all, he disapproved of their marriage so much that he didn't even attend the wedding and this is a guy who knew Cobain from high school. The fact that he never accused Love of anything despite the constant conflict between them after Kurt's death speaks volumes.
    Not to forget the testimonials given by people who were in Cobain's circle of drug friends. Mark Lanegan never bought the murder theory either and he used to cop drugs for Cobain when he became too popular.

      I'm an ex heroin user, tolerance does a play a big part, but the amount found in Kurt was more than the seattle police department had ever seen in an OD before, many forensic experts claim its an incredibly high amount and impossible to do that much and stay conscious. He probably wouldnt even die from it but he's gonna fall out almost immediately and just be breathing really slow and shallow.
      I had one known OD and I was out like a light before the needle was outta my arm. Luckily I was with people during that incidence cause I had one weekend where I was by myself and fell out probably 5 times in a row, every time I did a shot I was out almost immediately, then I'd wake up and do it again. I had problems hitting veins at the time so I was doing more than I knew I probably should but I wanted to make sure I got enough and didnt have to try and do more over and over. Plus I was just bad into my addiction at that time, but my tolerance was fairly high. I remember doing a shot while sitting in a chair, got my tie off and needle out and almost instantly nodded off, then at some point I fell face first onto the floor which woke me up for a second and hurt like hell, I tried to push myself up with my arms but they just kinda gave out and I fell right back down and went to sleep.
      In my opinion, it would be incredibly hard to do what Cobain did, take a hot hot hot shot, much more than he knows he can tolerate to get the job done, take his tourniquet off and the needle out of his arm, put the cap back onto the needle, put both items back in his box, then grab the long barrel shotgun and awkwardly get in some kind of position well enough to shoot himself. The clocks ticking as soon as he starts to push that plunger. I had literal seconds every time it happened to me.

      @@RxYouth Man, of course it's possible. You're mentioning the days that you got really out of it but you and I both know it's not always like that. When you're at the threshold of needing to increase your dose, you can barely taste the same hit that put you out a month ago.
      Someone like Kurt with near infinite disposable income would have been supplanting his H with various other stuff. I might be wrong but I believe Mark Lanegan once spoke about a whole box of suboxone that he gave him in his book. It is not inconceivable that Kurt would take oxy's or methadone to stay well when he's trying to stay off of the stuff. Nothing gets your tolerance up like taking on methadone imo. You end up taking absurd amounts just to get a faint taste of it in your breath.
      Semi-synthetic stuff like methadone last a really long time too. Once your tolerance is up, nothing except dosing down or quitting cold turkey brings it back down. This is why so many people end up mixing drugs in the end.
      Hope you're doing better nowadays brother, from one pained soul to another.

    • @RxYouth
      @RxYouth Год назад

      @@JM-ym8mm I understand what your saying, I'm on suboxone now, been on it for years and understand what it's like to relapse with long lasting stuff like that in your system. I'd usually wait til the withdrawal effects came on before doing any opiates and that first hit was never great altho I would feel it, but it's easy to quickly get back into the swing of things after that and have the H effect you just as it used to. It really doesn't take that long to switch back and that tolerance is mostly just while that stuff is in your system. Was Kurt for sure taking methadone before this? What did they give him at rehab? Either way that would only be a day or two of that before switching back which isn't that long.
      All I'm saying is if Kurt did as much as is perceived, more than Seattle Police department had ever seen in a user's body who'd ODd, and were talking one of the heroin capitals of the world at the time, they saw a lot of ODs, and enough for medical forensic experts to take note and say it's extremely high, then he must have been doing or did quite a lot, and I imagine a good amount of that came just before he allegedly shot himself. It's one thing to have a high tolerance that builds up over time it's another for most experts to say, wow I've never seen that much in somebody's system before. H has a pretty short half life so imo what was in his body was mostly from his last day maybe two. Another factor is he had benzos in his system, which give opiates a stronger or greater effect, possibly making what he did even harder to do.
      I guess it really just depends on how much he actually did before killing himself. I'd love to learn from someone like Dylan what his typical daily use was and compare that to what was found in his system. I still think IF he did a hot hot hot shot right before death, a high tolerance isn't going to matter if your doing an extreme amount like that, you're still going to lala-land pretty dang quickly and your motor functions are gonna be pretty impaired, add some benzos to the mix and it's probably even harder to function and stay awake (altho I'd say benzos would definitiy help make it easier to commit the deed mentally).
      It's not like he hadn't ODd multiple times before, I've heard he did a few times that last month or two, he was even left in the trunk or back of a car as those around him didn't want to get in trouble for having a dead rock star in their house. He wasn't superman or impervious to falling out due to his tolerance, if he took a lot, much more than normal, he's going night night before he even knows it. It all just depends how much he took at time of death, if multiple experts say it's high I'm gonna trust they understand what most heroin addicts toxicology reports look like and know what's normal and what's not, and Cobains was supposedly off the charts.

It's frustrating that they refuse to talk about it, even though I understand. To them Courtney seems literally above the law and beyond the reach of justice. Courtney may have access to the best lawyers money can buy, but the Pfaff family needs to understand that they're not alone and that hundreds of thousands of people, myself included, will chip in money to help fun their legal costs. Either Courtney ripped them out or Kristen did and she did that because she wanted to keep those entries in a special, secret place, or maybe even she did it because of how emotional everything that took place during that time was. Maybe she did it out of grief and decided to put them somewhere else. Don't how it works over in the U.S with detox especially residential if it's like going total cold turkey with a doctor on site helping with tranquillisers like valium or something similar,but in the U.K most drug dependence agencies will get you on a script as soon as possible as soon as you start withdrawals,either with Methadone or suboxone and this substitute system you'll go on for months or even years if need be until they ween you off gradually and this can take many months maybe a year even just to ween off substitute.ive been on heroin 24 years now on and off with multiple times under a detox treatment team, I still am as we speak.And the point of Methadone treatment is that if your taking Methadone you don't lose your tolerance to heroin and you can still use if you wanted.

    The album live threw this is a musical confession in a way to everything that she was about to cause to happen. The song asking for it was obviously written about Kristen.

    At your minute 7:44 we paused your video and listened to the Pfaff book author's Ted talk - you are mentioning ( is here on RUclips) - first. Comment to his Ted talk: Respect for complete work like this, the talk. About 10 years ago us around here would have felt like 9 points out of ten about it, now in 2022 we just agreed the 2nd half about himself does not make full sense to us. His closing words kind of tell a sense he is making, we agree with that. But the first half about the artist Kristen Pfaff has - to us - nothing to do with his story. That's 2 opposing points we tell here now. The - to us - weird flavour in his talk is: why is he telling this. Unsatisfied with his own life? Or really because he means there is a red-line showing a major mission that everybody is on - knowingly or unknowingly. Fair. Fine. We think he is unsatisfied with his own life. And framing it like this it all looks a bit more nice. That is - we think - why he is telling this. // ( now we carry on watching Spyfox's video) -

      or he is not very happy about the limitation by the legal context affecting his to-be-published book. He seems to mention this here in his talk. The legal context that does take effect on his work and the talk - any of his talk about it - forbids him to tell particular parts Kristen Pfaff journaled. ( so he tries to seek some depth otherwise. Which we think is flawed.)

    If someone wants to get high, and they're determined to, then they will.
    If a dealer sold dope that killed someone, it's still not the dealers fault (unless, see below). I'd be mortified if someone wanted to arrest my dealer if I OD'd! They sold it, I took it. If they hadn't I would've just gone elsewhere! Like any other junkie would do! Nobody's responsibility but your own.
    I do think that's crazy that you can be held responsible for somebody's death when they got the gear from you... 🤔
    I mean, if you've used the gear too, as well as others, and have been fine
    And yet your another acquaintance of yours dies because of their own low tolerance, though MAINLY through their own CHOICE to take it in the first place...? 🤔 That kinda blows my mind. If it can be proved that they unknowingly took a "hot shot" (a deliberately poisoned dose or hit of smack), then THAT'S a different story altogether. That doesn't happen often either, drug dealers generally like their customers to stay alive and continue buying... 🤔 🤦🏻‍♂️ 🤷🏻‍♂️ 😁 😉
    Because really, unless the stuff IS deliberately poisoned OR unnaturally/uncharacteristically strong, it's generally out of your hands. It's the users choice from beginning to end.
    Otherwise, let's arrest all the bartenders who gave drinks to people who died from alcohol poisoning!
    It just looks like somebody wants another to blame, somewhat unfairly.
    Someone ODs, it's nobody's fault but their own... 🤔

    Apparently her husband was not a nice person. I am in a fan group for her on Facebook, there are people who knew her well in that group and two of them said that.
