In my opinion, Dominator is the best floorless coaster and the most underrated coaster period. I thought it was smooth, intense, well-paced, and full of great elements. It was just a blast to ride.
I've ridden it more as Batman Knight flight at SF World's of Fun, but it was my favorite ride at that park, even over X Flight. Yeah, I'm going way back in time. Volcano and Hypersonic XLC were my favorites at Kings Dominion back then too😂....but I go back and forth with Kraken. I just love Kraken so much and the setting and the way the loops go in trenches and the tunnel you go thru add to the ride. I will say Dominator is smoother as Kraken has some bump to it now, but it's really not that bad imo. I personally think Kraken has a little more intensity and that along with the setting put it over Dominator, but i LOVE Dominator. They are just great coasters and i feel are overlooked alot.
@@ThemeParkAvenue 😂....yeah man...i interchange the two alot as which one is better. I don't think the other floorless coasters are as good as Dominator and Kraken, but they are all personal preferences and I respect what others think. I loved SF Worlds of Fun. I went in 2001. I was in my last year of college and went home for summer break. Had my SF Darien Lake season pass, went with 2 friends because I heard all, about X Flight. Good day and good fun their. Glad you had a chance to go,as I'm still depressed what ultimately happened there. You would have never guessed the future of that park the day I was there.
I just went for the first time ever today and I can say it’s an amazing park. The crazy amount of trees really adds to the atmosphere. Though Intimidator is very overrated, Twisted is still amazing
Kings Dominion... wow what memories!! I was blessed to have been one of the 1st riders on Racer 75... aka The Rebel Yell. Yeah, I'm probably the oldest subscriber here. The last time at KD was 2011, we took our 2 year old grandson. Yup grandson. Im now a Mimi of 8. Maybe one day I'll take all 8 at one time ❤ love your videos!! Stay safe out there, much love from the coast of NC.
LOL, I was actually at Kings Dominion that same day! I got there kinda late, though -- around 4pm -- but, yeah, the short lines were GREAT! I visited the park primarily out of curiosity for I-305. I'm not the biggest fan of intensity and strong positive-G's, so I wasn't sure if I would like it. But, MAN, my curiosity was DEFINITELY rewarded! It's an easy top-10 coaster for me. I've ridden coasters that are as fast or faster, but I-305 uses its speed so, so well, and the layout uniquely gives you that sense that "woah, I'm ROCKETING through this layout!" You're going max-90-mph, and you definitely feel it! And those transitions!! 😍 The snappy twists, the sudden un-banking, the snap right before the break-run -- all are excellent! This coaster is indeed an Intamin MASTERPIECE!
@@CoasterDash I did! Flight of fear felt different to me. I don't know if i forgot what it was like because I have not been since halloween haunt 2019.
Great video and great Vlog! It's great you got to ride the coaster on your picture again. Backlot Stunt Coaster at Kings Island has 2 launches and is probably similar. I've ridden it many times so I know. I've ridden F.O.F. at KI before and it's probably similar to F.O.F. there. It's good you went to Carowinds to get the Fury 325 credit as much as people like that coaster if you haven't ridden it yet which I'm guessing you haven't.
Nooooo I wanted Apple Zapple to be my 100th coaster, but my 100th is probably going to be Leap The Dips 😭😭😭 (I'm at 97 now and going to Delgrossos and Lakemont next week)
@@CoasterDash It is rough, but for some reason it doesn't cause me pain or discomfort. I actually think the roughness makes it more fun, if that makes sense. Also, I think this thing legitimately has a good layout.
How come we didn't get to ride along with you guys? No fun if we're not experiencing the actual ride😕looks like an amazing park. A few ground level shots doesn't give a good picture of the ride.
I went to Kings Dominion for the first time two weeks ago. Honestly, I was a little disappointed. I thought I picked the perfect time to go, being the last weekend in March, but it wasn't. Many of the rides in the park were closed -- most notably and most disappointingly -- I 305. I 305 was the main coaster I was looking forward to riding -- this is one of my top bucket list coasters, and it sucked having traveled all the way up to the park to find it closed. From what I understood, there was no known opening date for it at the time. I think its closure added to the overall disappointment in my trip, since Pantheon was also closed at Busch Gardens the day before. So, the two major coasters that I traveled to these two parks to ride were both closed. Still, all in all, I had a much better time at Busch Gardens. Yes, Twisted Timbers was fun and my favorite coaster that I rode at Kings Dominion -- but, there are quite a few coasters that I've ridden that I like much better. I also enjoyed Dominator a lot. This was my second favorite coaster in the park. I only rode it a few times, but those rides were very good. Dominator had quite a few good elements, and it was more powerful than I expected it to be. Not one of my favorite B&M's, but still a good coaster. Flight of Fear ended up being my third favorite coaster that I rode. I rode it several times, after it having been closed for almost the entire day prior to these rides. I thought Flight of Fear was a lot of fun. I liked the launch and the inversions, especially the corkscrew - and I did appreciate how much of the coaster had an out of control feeling, much like the indoor part on Verbolten. Back Lot Stunt Coaster was my next favorite ride of the day. It was fun, not as good as Flight of Fear, but still fun. I was surprised at how powerful the helix was -- and the indoor part of the coaster was pretty good -- not as good as Flight of Fear and certainly not nearly as good as Verbolten. Racer 75 was okay, but not much to write home about. It felt like a smaller version of the defunct, Thunder Road, at Carowinds. Reptilian bored me -- only rode it once and that was enough. Actually, I didn't mind Anaconda so much. It did have some mildly rough parts, but nothing too rough -- like Carolina Cyclone. I liked the drop into the underwater tunnel and a few of the inversions. Not a great coaster, but definitely not terrible (but much better than Carolina Cyclone). Grizzly was one of the rides closed -- and I really wanted to ride it, since it has been refurbished. But nope -- closed. I skipped Apple Zapple, since I'm not a fan of wild mouse coasters of its style (like Richochet for example). While the park for the most part was nice in appearance, there was something off about it. Due to the ride and food establishment closures, it looked and felt like a park that was just getting by with being open -- that was even the attitude that emanated from some of the employees. For the most part though, most of the employees were friendly. I could understand the park feeling and looking like it was just getting by with being open if it was the dead of winter, but it was the last day of March -- springtime. On the plus side though, the park was dead -- so all the coasters were pretty much walk-ons all day, except Twisted Timbers and Back Lot Stunt Coaster -- and their longest waits were five to ten minutes all day. In the end, I wish I had waited to visit Kings Dominion in the summer, not when I did. I'm sure I would've had a much better experience -- especially since I 305 will likely be open again in the summer. Also, I wasn't extremely impressed with the coaster line up at the park. Without I 305 and Twisted Timbers, Kings Dominion doesn't have too much in the way of coasters. Carowinds has a much better line up of coasters, until you get down to their few weakest thrill coasters (Vortex, Carolina Cyclone, Hurler). The only reason that I will ever return to Kings Dominion in the future is for the sole purpose of riding I 305 (unless they get another outstanding coaster in the park other than I 305 and Twisted Timbers). Other than that, it's not a park that I would go out of my way to visit again. I'll certainly visit Busch Gardens Williamsburg again, even if Pantheon's closed again (which hopefully won't be the case on my next visit there).
you should definitely go to va next year cuz KD is opening a new huge launched b&m wing coaster and bgw is opening a family invert. plus i305 and pantheon as new coasters for you!
