While Avi was born and raised in California, he has lived outside of Nashville for years.
He bought a cabin and about 1000 acres of heavily forested mountainous land.
His dad raised him on the likes of Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor and John Denver.
Many have thought that he was referring to death being Otherside, but he was just longing to not be so mentally and emotionally torn.
It has taken him a long time, but his entire countenance tells us he is much better.

You’re not wrong at all, this song is about his longing to be in nature when he is not able to, especially, I think, when he was touring with Pentatonix for months at a time. You need to check out his "All Is Well" the 7 Layers Sessions version (there are 3 different versions, but I think that's the best) it's beautiful. Also, "I'm only Getting Started" it's another great motivation song like "Change On the Rise". Love your reactions!

This song embodies what many have said about Avi's music - you don't just hear it, you feel it. While Avi was born in California and grew up in Visalia, and is an ambassador for Sequoia National Park in California, this video was shot on and near his 1,000 acres in the woods west of Nashville, where he's lived for several years. And the scene for the "silver moonlight" verse - the filming was timed so that the scene was lighted only by the light of the full moon. As for his meaning in the song, let me have him tell you himself. On his first solo tour in 2019, he would preface each song with its backstory, which I love. In taping the concerts I went to, I made sure to capture those stories, including for "Otherside", And this will also show you how it was performed live, with his touring band at the time (made up mostly of members of the group Streetcorner Symphony).(By the way, the man playing keyboards a few feet from me is Daniel Ellsworth, who played piano both in "Healing" and in all 4 songs in Avi's Sunset Sound videos.) ruclips.net/video/hGoxWRvT7KA/видео.html

You are exactly right about the song. Avi said he wrote this because he lived in LA for 7 years with ptx and it was hard to get to nature. So when he did, this was what it felt like, going to the Otherside.
This song was my introduction to Avi. I was looking for xmas music, and i guess because of ptx, this came up. On a whim, I clicked on a beautiful man sitting in the forest. I was hooked instantly.

This song taught me what it means to meditate. I had tried before, unsuccessfully, and even thought the idea was a little silly. Then, I heard this song. Avi takes me over to that otherside! I get it now! I can tune out everything else, relax, and feel like I can breathe better. This song and Full Moon live both put me there -- every time.

Indeed, I thought the same. Avi is like Merlin, the magician. He put a spell on me with his wonderful voice, the beautiful lyrics and the just amazing video. And this spell brings me to rest, to take a deep breath and lead me to the otherside, where everything is okay.

Probably to late for a Xmas reaction, but Avi performed a folk style rendition of O Holy Night at a concert last year. 5gentexan has a great recording of the live performance. I think you would really enjoy it!
