Thinking of making a slightly more Banting version of this. Maybe substituting Xylitol for the sugar? Will be the most expensive chutney in history though 😃
Hi Shaun -- you can get xylitol for a reasonable price from Health Connection in Cape Town -- and Dischem also carries the Health Connection range. I am not so sure you will be able to achieve the correct consistency using this.... give us some feedback if you go ahead!!!
I usually get from Dischem but it's very expensive. The last lot I bought was R130 a kilo. I normally substitute Xylitol for sugar and use only about 75% of the sugar measurement. So if a recipe calls for a cup of sugar, I'll use 3/4 of a cup of Xylitol. I make really nice sugar-free ice cream doing this, for example. But ja, the consistency might be a bit different in this recipe. I'll try it and let you know. Anyway, keep them coming chef Trevor, this is my favourite channel on RUclips 👍
