Suggestion for that, use closed PE foam from Siless to actually get a way more significant result, and also for engine noise I highly suggest trying to sound deaden inside firewall, and the engine's hood. (I reduced the engine noise from the outside hood by 8 db and in translation that 8db is between 2.5x-3x quieter.
@@hummerguy For the hood I used butyl from siless, and the closed pe foam I also used it from siless but also ONLY because I had the engine hood heat insulation panel, if I were you I'd only use butyl layer for the hood though, the foam made it almost a little to thick for my hood's heat insulation panel to fit back in but the clips still hold in fortunately, but for the firewall I didn't get to use any or try to since its too much labor and time for me to do it since it already have MLV from the manufacturer. (Also if siless' butyl can't hold up with that heat, try to find another brand that can then but only if your vehicle doesn't have a heat insulation cover.)
WE ALL REALLY MISS THE CRV. Bcause we can all get a crv n blend in. But now the van the one u have sadly we all can’t relate bcause rarely no one drives it. Good luck on the videos. Hopefully ure safe in ure future trips. 🙏🏼
Good stuff Riley!! When we added sound deadening and insulation to our van I wasn't so sure about the change in noise levels, but this confirms that it actually did help haha. Excited to see this build out! Keep it up dude!
Interesting. I think where you start off makes a big difference. Mine went from almost no deadening to it being everywhere so that made a big difference. It definitely helps though, especially the thicker stuff that I used in this video. Glad you enjoyed!
I'm also doing a syncro conversion and just removed that factory sound deadening. Ran the engine for a while to heat up underneath then took a heat gun to the top and peeled right up!
Thanx Riley. What a superb van! I subscribed to your channel and am definitively following this project. Thinking of buying one myself. May I ask, how much you paid for it? CU grom The Netherlands Peter
Thank you! Paid a little over 30k for it. Definitely think it’s worth the extra money to get a well taken care of vanagon. Good luck with your buying experience!
too late probably but you have no tinstalled noise cancelling the right way... it is barely working at all. you should have used a roller or some sort of pressing device (phard plastic spatula) to properly adhere the sheets to the metal or there will berust under them. the pattern on the foi part shouldnot be seen
Nice demo in the intro! Also really good you got rid of the rust because a lot of people tend to just spray over it. The van looks a lot more specious then what I thought they were. Can’t wait to see the final result.🚐
I grew up with a syncro, my grandpa would take us deer hunting in Oregon. Making me laugh, Riley. Funny guy. Happy for you, it’s well worth tue effort
That's awesome! Great vehicle for that. Thanks man hope you're liking the videos!

What did you use for the hood and firewall? The siless said to not use under the hood because it can only take 220 Degrees

I know the CR-V was great. Think this thing will be awesome for what I’m doing though.

Nice! That's an easy way to do it. This made such a big difference once the build was done. Wayyy quieter than other vans I've been in.
Nice work !!!
Thank you!
Thanks for the video!
