Nice job! I would of definitely painted the pop top dark brown or tan to color match the van but it looks OK bright white. I have those lift assist struts on my van definitely worth the money.
This thing looks SWEET!!! Well done🤙 Funny you mention @gotta_split, I know him well. Emilio's a good dude. Well have to meet up at some point and go cruise our VW's☀
Great job and video, doing mine now. Anybody understand what he said the name of the stainless hinges for the solar rig was called? He said it so quick. Thanks
Do you have a video of how you made the structure of the can on the roof of the car? How did you fix? I'm from Brazil and I want to do it in my Ford Explorer
Hell yeah bro, thanks for making this video. I feel more confident in restoring my top. I have never done anything to mine since I got the bus over 15 years ago. The canvas is toasted and the fiberglass top has mold and the fiberglass is worn out. You can see the fibers. Why did you choose that paint? Is it okay not to use a primer? Is it okay for fiberglass?
Depends what kind of condition the flocking is in. If there is decent flocking, Tilex or its generic equivalent, dabbing with paper towels (if its still mounted on the van - protect your eyes, the interior and lungs), or hose it off if it is off, and the flocking will actually hang in there. But if you want to paint it, just knock it off and paint away!!
I was told the flocking was to help with condensation when hot breathe contacts cold roof. IDK. I saw another video where they installed generic car headliner foam...it looked pretty good.
Bus Depot told me to put the seam for the skylight seal between the hinges (14:06). Yea, in the middle of this and since I have almost a gallon of artic white around, I am using that instead of interlux. I like the interlux, but the 100 dollars, I will spend on H4 headlight upgrade.

If you really think about it, it's WELL worth the money you spend on it, plus yours turned out awesome!
Hell yea dude. This gets me amped to overhaul my hightop this summer
Cool to see the other projects happening in the background too!

You guys both do top notch work
Great video, just needs some white racing strips to tie in the white top. We need to go "Camping".
Looks good man. I like the old RUclips style video. Fluff free.
Hey thanks

How much interlux do you think this takes? A gallon? 2 quarts?

I always love your content! Please post more! Like weekly. Anyways, nice job!
I agree I should post more, hopefully I can get on a better schedule soon
can you show a shot of the paint can of the paint you used and did you have to mix hardener? or dryer??
Do you know where you can buy that front roof top piece where you installed the solar panel on?
Nice job one question what can a solar panel you use
Nice!!!! I’m going to try too! Is there any reason why I wouldn’t be able to paint the underside?
You can paint it for sure just give it a little sand

Another sweet looking job. So what's next for this Westie?
Probably some spring pads in the rear and a power inverter
Where is your place in California located? Excellent job on the vans.
Can you paint the top without removing it from the the van?
I added that GoWesty boost supports. I am really glad I did it. So much easier to get the top up. Somehow it has gotten heavier over time…. 😮
Great work, wow
hey thanks!
Where are you located in California? I have a VW needing some rust work done
Two years later how has the paint held up?
Killer job 🔥❤️🔥
