4 years ago this video randomly showed up on my recommendation page back when I was still a high school kid. Fast forward to now, I have accepted my first M&A strategy consulting internship. I am truly grateful that I have saw your video and this video truly inspired me when I first entered university and thinking about what career I want to pursue. I look back and rewatch this video over and over again to continuously motivate myself. Now I can finally say that I have made it. Thank you!
I love people who are busy achieving their dreams, working from morning till evening to prove they are capable of doing anything, I enjoyed your video a lot, thank for sharing it :)
2 year update! I just got an entry level specialist position (step below consultant) at a Healthcare tech company and I'll be traveling a lot as part of the role, this vlog is will be my reality in a couple of months! This video is still relevant to me 2 years later as I plan on working my way up to the Consultant level within the company!
I have been in a consulting role for 20 years. Crazy. I have stayed overnight in 49 states and most of the Canadian provinces (at least the big ones). Travel is good when you are the mater of your schedule.
I don’t mean to ask personal questions, but having the role for so long, can you give me a ballpark of how much you make? I’m interested in going down that career path so I would like to know what to expect down the road. Thank you.
I just got a consultant intern for my end-of-year internship, that is so great to know more about life as a consultant. It seems that this job is not easy, but I have the confidence that I could do it well. And I think I'm adaptable to business travel life, as I have no problems dealing with jet lag issues.
I'm considering becoming a consultant post-grad. I've had so many jobs where I sit at a desk and practically stare at a computer all day and it is very dull and draining. I'm looking forward to every day being different along with working on challenging projects that will keep me on my toes! I don't have any consulting experience so watching these kinds of vlogs is very helpful for me!
This popped up in my explore feed and I LOVE it!! So glad you vlog the work week. It's not a lifestyle you see very often on RUclips! I'm working full-time in SF so I'm going to try a video like this :)
I avoided a career in consulting because of all the travelling that it required... but now in my current non-consulting position, because my clients are all over the world, I still ended up needing to travel a bit. I hate living out of my suitcase, but do enjoy the work I do. Your day looks so similar to mine! Back-to-back calls, rushing to client lunch, more calls in the car, webex when I get home. I enjoy being busy though, and it looks like you do too!
I actually enjoy traveling and I am currently looking for a job that can give me the opportunity to do just that :) Can you give me some advice on what you are doing?
I love walking. Walking is relaxing and clears my mind. I can see more things and people while walking. However, walking is a luxury in many places in the states.
This is basically the same as I have experienced as an IT consultant. Week in week out in Tokyo, Bangkok, and Singapore. Now that we have the coronavirus, I don't do any trip anymore and turned out into zoom calls. Even post coronavirus, I believe the consultant industry will have no more business trips as before.
I've always aspired to become a consultant. In fact, I did try to apply for consultant positions in big consulting firms without success. Could you share how you got this job and also, the challenges and what skills you need in this job? Thanks.
If you wanna become an associate for big consulting firms like McKinsey, you can either start as a junior analyst, study MBA or apply as an expert in a certain feild.
Target school, and any CV with less than 3.6GPA just gets tossed to the bin. The interview process is about 4 rounds with proper case study based interviews, which if you clear you might get an offer depending on how the other interviewees did.
As soon as I started playing this video, I realized how I missed Kristina’s vlog 😭 thank you very much for this K. Choi! You’re a very simple, a humble and a natural RUclipsr ever 💕 love the music and editing as always. Simple, but classy. Keep up the good work Kristina!! Hope you’ll upload more in the future 💕

consultants are usually experts in one field/topic, and travel around the country/world to clients who use the consultant's parents company service to educate/guide/monitor/fix things on a regular basis or per client request.
Usually they tell you the stuff you already know and let you do the slides that they sell you for more what you earn in a year. A consultant would charge you for that, I do it as a favor. That also explains why I'm not rich, and not a consultant.
Currently working as a consultant for one of the big 4. All I can say is that being a consultant requires you to be flexible when it comes to skillset, time and knowledge depending on the project you were assigned. You'll come across with different clients, some are difficult to work with and some are one of the best.
Great stuff! I'm a traveler as well and finally figured out what the "luggage rack thing" was used for. Now how about a new video on how a busy consultant spends the weekend. :)
Hei K, I just graduated last year and also kicked off as a consultant but in the Netherlands. Girl, it’s like a hectic life, I was really lost about the work life feeling like on the go all the time but not really working. Finally feeling some peace from ur blog, thansk!

I haven't traveled since March! Some of my co-workers have had some local (driving, not flying) in-person meetings with very small groups, wearing masks, etc. But I haven't had to do anything in-person for my projects so far.
OMG shocked to find another RUclipsr from Detroit! I have no idea how this video popped up in my recommendations but so happy I did because my dream is to go into consulting
kchoi Where do you get your background music from for your videos? I’m trying to find great places to get background music from and I’m lovin’ the vibes of the music you use.
My friend recommended you to me because she knows that I’m interested in change management. Your vlogs are great! Willing to hear more about your thoughts on change management ❤️
I just found your channel because of your Korean food videos and I can’t believe that I found you. I need to decided what to study and what I want to do and consulting it’s one of my biggest options so totally watching your videos and subscribing!

I want to be a IT-consultant when I grow up. I just started college so I still have some years in front of me. I’m really into electronics and I love helping people out with it when they don’t know the basics. I always help my dad. He’s not the smartest in the tech industry hehe :)

Hi. I really like this video and have seen it so many times now. What is the soundtrack around 5:20-5:30? It doesnt seem to be one of the listed ones. Pls do share if possible.
So glad this randomly popped up in my recommended! I work as a software consultant and watching your travel for the week somehow makes me feel less stressed about all of mine ... 2 flights in one day sounds killer 😥 I also love the flexibility though. I’m currently working on my Saturday evening since I took it easy yesterday afternoon, I really enjoy having that trust from my boss. Just thought I’d mention one of the pros since there’s a lot of consultancy hate in the comments 😂
I am going to be a cybersecurity consultant intern this summer for EY! Although it will be remote due to COVID I wonder if cybersecurity consulting will be similar to this.
I have a question, do you have to pay for your flight to travel, and hotel reservations? just wondering because i’m interested on the travel carrer industry
Hi kchoi, I am a presentation designer and I work with consultants everyday on their presentations. It's nice the see things from the other end. Hats off to you guys!!! Hope you have a wonderful week 😊✌️
was wondering about consultant work since an offer was brought to me and I got curious as to how it would seem to go, sadly I am unable to travel and be away from home for any extended time unless its like a regular job. if I was to be single and not having to be at home to care for others, it seems like a very enjoyable work/life style.
Your hair has gotten so long! Also so happy and proud that you're doing something you look like you enjoy. Who knows maybe one of the next places to meet a client will be in London
Thank you for the vlog, I am currently work as an analyst and soon to be a consultant. I don't know if i can fit with the role since I just work behind the desk for long time. But watching your vlog it looks like a fun
Very nice vlog! Really great rhythm/pacing to it. I don't know if you mentioned this elsewhere, but did you get this gig immediately after college or was it something different? Asking cause I'm also an English/Comparative Literature major!
I got this after working in PR for a few years + getting my master’s in management, but people have all different kinds of educational/career backgrounds - it’s more about the type of experience you get during/right out of college
Catching up on some of your older week in the life videos, since I just posted my first 'Consultant Work Week In My Life' too - it's interesting to see what others look like, too! ✨
Very interesting vlog. I work in a productive environment, rooted to the spot everyday, but at home every night. I don’t envy your traveling and endless phone calls, but you seem to enjoy the busyness. Keep happy...love your accent btw
I think the real reason the luggage rack is there is because you shouldn't put your bags on a hotel bed. If there are any bed bugs in that bed, you open yourself up to bringing them back to your house with you!
loved the video! I'm planning on studying finance and marketing next year, and I was wondering if you had any laptop recs or if you know any popular laptop types that consultants/bankers/etc tend to use?
I don't know all that much about those fields but I imagine the key is software not specific laptop models. So the biggest issue would be if there's something on iOS that's not on Windows and vice versa.
This video totally reminds me of why I never wanted to become a consultant. I knew I would not be happy lugging around the baggage and hotel-hopping all the time. NOT saying it's a bad thing tho; it just doesn't suit my life style. Glad to see you're doing great! All the best.
I enjoyed the video, a few good spots for me: at 2:42, the heresy of using a mouse when you have a thinkpad's track point :) at 3:30, first thing to do at 7am check facebook as per your screen, yet the script said "I just did a little bit of work" at 6:05, swaping the "glamorous" consultant travel bag, for a recycle cloth bag to put your thinkpad.
hahaha glad you enjoyed!! 1. i can't figure out how to use the track point well! 2. i believe that was Micosoft Teams, not facebook, but i wouldn't be surprised if it did turn out to be facebook! :P 3. i use my travel bag for just that... travel :) otherwise i use a regular tote!
I'll watch anything you put out TBH, it feels like catching up with a friend. Please upload more often. I'm also starting a new role so am glad that I can follow along your journey as it keeps my nerves down. 🙂
Kristina, perhaps could you share some of the basic excercises, or activities in excel, powerpoint, and strategy development that a consultant apply on a daily basis?

I pay with my corporate card but the client is then billed! (Unless I’m traveling for internal/non-client purposes. Then my company pays)
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for the vlog, I am currently work as an analyst and soon to be a consultant. I don't know if i can fit with the role since I just work behind the desk for long time. But watching your vlog it looks like a fun
Do you need me to solve your difficult problem? And to bring you clients
I love your yellow scarf! Where did you get it?
I’d love to see what’s in your work/travel bag. It looks so chic!
Hey Kchoi!!! I love your videos! Where is your bag from?
Lo & Sons!
I have seen hotel room, plane, people before in videos.
Thanks!
I think the real reason the luggage rack is there is because you shouldn't put your bags on a hotel bed. If there are any bed bugs in that bed, you open yourself up to bringing them back to your house with you!
Omg I never knew that thing in hotels is a luggage rack 🤣
Biron Clark was literally thinking the same thing haha
Wow!! Very busy!! I work with consultants all the time here in Belize. Great video!!
loved the video! I'm planning on studying finance and marketing next year, and I was wondering if you had any laptop recs or if you know any popular laptop types that consultants/bankers/etc tend to use?
Thanks! I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (which I think is pretty common) but I have a MacBook Pro for personal use/editing videos
I don't know all that much about those fields but I imagine the key is software not specific laptop models. So the biggest issue would be if there's something on iOS that's not on Windows and vice versa.
Awesome video... what company do you work with?
Can you go I to some more details about the actual work?
Can I ask how often do you have to stay up late working in the office? And what % do you work on-site and off-site? Thanks!!
Hi! Which firm do you work at?
This video totally reminds me of why I never wanted to become a consultant. I knew I would not be happy lugging around the baggage and hotel-hopping all the time. NOT saying it's a bad thing tho; it just doesn't suit my life style. Glad to see you're doing great! All the best.
First time watching you, just subscribed, love this style of vlog, i love the edits footage and music, its relaxing hahaha
Thank you!!
I enjoyed the video, a few good spots for me:
at 2:42, the heresy of using a mouse when you have a thinkpad's track point :)
at 3:30, first thing to do at 7am check facebook as per your screen, yet the script said "I just did a little bit of work"
at 6:05, swaping the "glamorous" consultant travel bag, for a recycle cloth bag to put your thinkpad.
hahaha glad you enjoyed!!
1. i can't figure out how to use the track point well!
2. i believe that was Micosoft Teams, not facebook, but i wouldn't be surprised if it did turn out to be facebook! :P
3. i use my travel bag for just that... travel :) otherwise i use a regular tote!
I'll watch anything you put out TBH, it feels like catching up with a friend. Please upload more often. I'm also starting a new role so am glad that I can follow along your journey as it keeps my nerves down. 🙂
Aw thanks for watching!
Please upload more often♡
Kristina, perhaps could you share some of the basic excercises, or activities in excel, powerpoint, and strategy development that a consultant apply on a daily basis?
Dear, that's confidential! How can she share it?!
Yasss vlogsss. More please.. 😍
Thanks!!
Where you got that black bag that you use? Look so nice
It's from Lo and Sons and it's called The O.G.!
