- The Kugelblitz in War Thunder is an absolute monster of an SPAA! This German Tank is basically a Panzer 4 with two MASCHINEKANONNES (yes, that's how it sounds when you say it's "NOT MACK") 30mm cannons strapped to it.
What's interesting about the Kugelblitz is that the turret is actually a sphere or a ball with the turret crew all sitting inside. That way no matter where the guns are facing, the crew are too! Kind of like a Simulator Rig!
This little tank can dish out some serious punishment to Light Tanks, other SPAA and even cause serious problems for Mediums too! But where it really shines of course... is swatting pesky planes right out of the sky!

hello OddBawZ, they nerfed/decreased the penatration value of 30mm MK103 Gun on all planes including DO-335, both planes and kugelblitz, had in the past and now the same penatration value on the AP ammunition
They nerfed basically every german autocannon. The Wirlbelwind for example used to penetrate 64mm at point blank range... Now it penetrates 48mm.

Finally some Kugel love. I see vid after vid of the 20mm and 37mm boys yet hardly in comparison of my favorite 30mm AA. Thanks for the content Odd, quality over quantity any day

Odd the pen was same for both the do and kugel at 95mm. It has been nerfed since to 77 on both. I think it was done quietly because i did not see this info on any articles or news from gaijin
Aerial 20mm (m3 cannons) buffed from 33mm to 38mm. Aerial 50. cals had also been buffed from 26mm to 30mm
And the Russian 23mm buff form 37 to 48 (Now cost spawn points to use API belts) and the Hispanos buff form 26 to 36
This is why I always check the datamines.
Winds of change did list in the patch notes that aircraft weapons will be using the AP calculators now.
I'm fine with this, an autocanon which can shred tanks which it shouldn't be able to hurt In the first place is now less good at shredding tanks. It's meant to kill planes so it should only get ammonfor that
Fast rotation, high elevation mounting. Hard-hitting medium-range caliber. The Kugel only lacked some sort of Radar guidance (which was still 6 years off) to be the perfect SPAA of WW2.

All German MK's got nerfed , 20mm and 30mm , even MK103 from airplanes like the Do335 . All got 77mmm now and the Whirly got 48mm .

All german 30MMs got their pen reduced from 95 to 77.
The 20s got hit by the nerf too, but the russian 23 on the Il2 got a buff

I’ve been using the falcon a lot recently and it seems to function like this but at a higher br. Shreds BMPs and all that as well as planes. Very fun. You definitely should give it a go.
The falcon is insane. I basically do better with it than any other British tank.

I was surprised that Kugel was omitted when talking about best german SPAA - to Wirbelwind - which is great one as well, but once I switched to Kugel, there was no coming back ;) I remember defending against 2 T-34 and T-32 with (almost) ease and falling in love with it. Plus the way it shreds planes is soooo satisfying :D

Yeah, if anything, the Ostwind 2 should be replaced by the coelian. At least there, the chassis was there, a mock up of the turret was build (so we know that the guns fitted into the turret) and the gun existed or were being worked on (55mm version).
@@13deadghosts funnily enough, the 5.5cm gun was actually produced... in small numbers at the end of the war. The weapon would serve as the basis for the Soviet S-60 57mm AAG system...
sadly the do335s 30mm also has been nerfed, it now only has 77mms of pen, compared to its older 95mm

Love playing the Kugel. The other really good spaa is the French AMX-13 DCA 40 at BR 4.7. Only a single cannon but it's 40mm totally annihilates planes when you connect plus very effective on tanks
Crusader AA mk 1 with 40 mil is cracked, even more so after being lowered to 3.3. And I have a fondness of the Ystervark too, the 20 on it is rly strong
agree on the Ystervark, can be a bit tricky getting it into position with the cabin roof in the way, but it is a deadly spaa. Feels a bit like the R3 on planes, very fast rounds and easy to aim

The tri-15 mils actually do great against light and medium tanks with thin side armor along with air, I love running APCR and it’s my second vehicle I play after the puma at 3.3.

You make these tanks look so easy to dominate with. I struggle to do my job as a SPAA in a ostwind 2 to kill planes unless they head on with me. I try to recreate what you do but it seems I get the opposite results. Still, seeing you dominate inspires me to keep playing to see I can get one of those moments too.
I dont main SPAA's but I think theyre good to have when the americans want to ruffle stomp my team with CAS.
Great video as always Odd and happy everything is okay. SO I have an idea for a challenge. So you know the 57mm Cromwell? And you know about the first 4x 20mm Typhoon? Ok here is the challenge, get between 5-10 kills in the Cromwell 57mm.with atleast 1 kill being with rockets or bombs from the Typhoon(either is your choice),AND 1 kill has to be in a AA of your choice around the same BR. The kills can range anywhere as long as it is more then 5. Also you can bring a choice of 1 light tank or heavy tank from that same BR if you so please to do so. Took a while to think this one through and would be cool to see it happen. ❣❣❣
I'm about too unlock it as my first Rank V after hundreds of hours (with only 4 more nations on Rank 2 and maybe 2 of them with a single Rank 3 vehicle unlocked) and Test drove it and HOLY SHIT! I for the first time swatted EVERY PLANE on the Test map from spawn. Thing is weirdly intuitive to aim. Insane.
Man Panzer 4 has a great body to use as a AA tank it has unlimited grip and is very easy to use.

Kugelblitz is good. But it was just nerfed bad.
The gun isnt modified and has less pen, all MK103 were nerfed for no apparent reason across the board.
Kugel had 95mm as well before Winds Of update.
Hurts the kugel way more than the planes tho.

You’re underselling the Pz.Gr.H on the Kugelblitz, I regularly kill everything but late Soviet heavies, in addition to decimating enemy CAS.
yes kugelblitz was amazing...total nightmare in top tire...silent and small enough with 95 mm of pen can kill anything from side and back and easily get 5k skill matters, until they fucked up its pen to 77 mm...same for most AA in game.
My favorite actually existing german SPAAG with the sdkfz 6/2 as 2nd

Hello Odd, nice video of the Anti- everything Kugelblitz... have a look at the british planes with 20mm cannons... they got buffed... instead of 26mm of pen now they have 36mm and some 38 mm of pen.... good fun for Britsh CAS. have a nice day @ all
my fav aa is the gepard/ type 87 its small adps belt is so effective but you have to think about how and when to use it due to how few rounds you have.

British AA and Italian AA would both be excellent places to explore, I'd suggest! Both have some excellent platforms, and are often underrated by the player base, IMO. (The SIDAM 25 is evil!)

This tank is like a swarm of insects. It can't kill heavy units, but it can debilitate them enough for teammates to make quick work of them.
The first nuke I ever got was in the Kugelblitz. it was my first spawn and I only got 1 plane kill. It can truly be a complete menace
whenever Odd plays some german vehicles you can see the german main in him slip out lmao
They didn't nerf German cannons and buff the other nations as some kind of stealth balancing measure, they just changed all the autocannons to the same penetration formula that the larger cannons use. The penetration changes are the result of that. The problem is that the formula doesn't take into account the material the projectile is made from, so things like tungsten only penetrate the same as steel would at that mass and velocity.
This video was so entertaining. Cool to see someone who has mastered the lead on this thing. I can’t seem to figure it out for some reason. I’m good at leading 20 mm, 37 mm, and even the bofors, but not this thing.
Did anyone notice that the pzgr40 ammo for the german 20mm got nerfed? It dropped from 64mm pen to 48mm now :(

Hey Odd, it’s not a lower pen version of the Do 335 belt. All 30mm+ cannons just got their penetration nerfed except Russia, which got buffed for some reason. Take a look at the ITP 37mm. It was 60mm btw

It is a paper tank that only can be played by those that own it so the newer players may not know it's capability or how to easily kill it.
Its not exactly a paper tank. The hull was taken from a Panther (obviously) but the turret was only a wooden mockup
@@Serkay64 it was removed due to it being a 'Paper Tank'. It only made it into a design mock up not to a usable tank. That is what I was referring to.

Maybe you should use the best AA in the game... The Bkan with HE-VT. It still shredds everything within 300 meters because of the activation delay and for planes you only need one shot to get close enough and it's curtains for them

I think it is called free look or something like that, and the standard key bind is to hold the C key down. You're going to use that alot.

Use the sdkfc half-track with the 37 mm gun that thing is absolutely glorious it literally shreds so many tanks too I think it get pierced 115 mm of armor at highest I need to check it again when I look at war thunder on my PS4 but yeee it did get a Nerf but it's still pretty f****** good lol :3

i like the flak systems in wartunder and i played pretty good flak tanks and destroyed a lot of airplanes
its insane how easily you can identify vehicles
the kugelblitz was better before the nerf. did they nerfe the penetration? 95mm was good for self defense. and in planes the 30mm was good for hunting tanks.

Not an AA, but you should totally try out the OF-40 at 7.7. Laser rangefinder, nice APDS and decent mobility make it a better Leopard 1, if you get it into a good position you can snipe half the team away before they know what's happening :)
