Yeah, saying again, sitting at the spawn and using the radar might be "smart" but for the "challenge" it's 100% not fair fight ! If you're challenging the Abrams as vehicle to find out if it's 10 times better than the Tiger by doing a 10v1 challenge, at least set the fights better. This is like a duck hunt in one of the worst designed maps in the entire game, if not the worst... Try Mozdok, Karelia, Normandy, Hürtgen...
Of course it's not a fair fight, there's about 50 years of technological progress between these tanks. Artificially increasing the Tigers chance of winning by putting the Abrams in a bad spot to start with removes the whole point of the challenge. The only way to really show how big a difference is between the tanks is to let the players utilise the strengths of their tanks freely, and for the Abrams that happens to be sitting back and using it's reverse speed.
I'll add a couple of things, I watch Odd's videos, he can comment himself but I know more or less his playstyle, in similar situation you can just wait for a clear-shot or even spawn radar to take the shot safely and pull back behind a hill and take them out np. HOWEVER I feel like Odd's move was subconscious to move forward and leave the ridge that he killed himself, or felt like the situation would be unfair to sit back and wait for the radar to make the work. Yeah turns back to my point at the beginning...
My guy, if you really wanted this to be a truly “fair fight” you put them on f*cking Sinai. The major advantage of the M1 is its range and speed, the ERA only works from the front of the tank. Artificially giving the Tigers the advantage by putting them on the most optimal map possible and forcing the Abrams to brawl against them isn’t going to prove anything. You’re basically saying “it isn’t fair that the guys with shotguns aren’t given an unrealistic amount of cover against the sniper, we should force the sniper to fight them in CQC!” In fact, if this were a “fair” test we should remove the map boundaries entirely and let the Abrams run circles around these things taking pot shots from 2 km away the entire match. The fact that the Abrams can’t withdraw already is putting the Tigers at an unrealistic advantage. An Abrams vs a Tiger IS a duck hunt to the damn thing. This is how a realistic battle between the two would go. Deal with it.
It was never intended for the fight to be "fair". It's 10 old tanks vs 1 modern tank, all using the best abilities they have inside of War Thunder to see what will happen. You dont watch a video on an oldtimer dragracing a modern sportscar and then complain that it's unfair because the sportscar can accelerate faster. It's inherently unfair. It would also technically be unfair for the Tigers to be allowed to use their full abilities while severely crippling the Abrams in its potential. I think what you meant is that it is not very entertaining and I 100% agree with you on that. There's little to no stakes for the Abrams.
Honestly for the abrams to be taken out, the Tigers would have to gang up on it and the Abrams be low on ammunition. But the Sabot round that an Abrams fires is more than enough to go through a Tiger’s armor.
I mean if the tiger manages to hit the abrams barrel it’s only one that’s needed and if the tigers coordinate their push so they flank from two different sides at the same time then it’s two
@@ddarkon1223 Yeah by losing half a platoon trying to flank them, just like what is happening here. Only the Fireflys could really engage Tigers at the same range Tigers could kill a Sherman, unless they got the sides or rear.
@@gabriel.b9036 Yes when there's 6 of them for every Tiger on the field then eventually the Tiger dies. Nobody with a choice fought a Tiger with a Sherman 1 v 1, unless they were driving a Firefly.

IV J 2x Panther D 1x Panther A 2x Tiger H1 1x Tiger E 1x Pz. IV H 1x Stug III G 1x Panzer IV/70(V) 1x Jagdpanzer IV Does this seem fair, if you end up doing it in a video, feel free to edit it to make it more fair. Thanks!
When deciding how to best fight this battle, the Abrams commander should of course maximize the strengths of his tank over the opponent. The Abrams has superior firepower and mobility, and while the M1 frontal arc is impervious to the Tiger, nevertheless the Tigers firepower has to be respected as flank hits could penetrate and any hit could be a mobility kill. As fought, the Abrams commanders acted stupidly. Going up into a hull down, firing once, backing down and the going up to essentialy the same hull down in effect presents a stationary target to the attacking Tigers. If the Abrams commander wants to play the armor card and is banking on the frontal arc being impervious to the Tigers, then just stay in the one hull down spot and pump out the rounds. If the engagement started when the sides were at 2000m apart, in two minutes the Abrams will have sent 14-16 rounds downrange, while the Tigers could only have closed the gap by 750m (assuming a speed of 20kph). So after two minutes there would have been at least a dozen dead Tigers and the remaining handful would still have 400-500 to travel before they were even within engagement range of the Abrams. If the Abrams commander wanted to play the mobility card, traverse across the battlefield more or less hull down, creating a quicky moving target for the Tigers to try to hit. Abrams incredible fire control and shoot on the move capability means its accuracy is only slightly diminished while forcing Tiger gunners to track and hit a target moving across their front. The changing range, deflection angles and applying lead will put the Tiger accuracy in the toilet. Tiger commanders will want to stay still longer to provide a stable base for their gunners, making them sitting ducks for the M1. M1 commanders could be running the engine smoke generators most of the time obscuring their precise location from the Tigers.
I’m just starting the video but the answer is about 40, because that’s about the number of rounds the m1 can carry, and that’s only if it has time to stop in a jibe because it would have to manually reload the ammo rack from the rack behind the tc.
These videos are cool. I *think* a good way to "simulate" WW2 tech vs more modern technology would be for the Abrams to have access to 3rd person (simulates sensors for more awareness) and the WW2 tanks stuck in first person view
@@rodrigofilho1996 lol no they certainly did not. One of the main critiques of Fury from from WW2 tankers was how much Brad Pitt's head was poking out of the tank. Looks cool in the movie but a great way to get your head blown off.
@@Trisket to today's tankists and critics maybe, but on WW2 the commander keeping the head out was a rule unless under active heavy engagement, actually, even drivers would leave their hatch open during light engagement, that's why was part of the anti tank doctrine found in most manuals dating to WW2 to take MG shots at the tank from the range of 1 thousand meters in order to force the enemy tank to close all his hatches and become less aware of his surroundings as even long range spotting wasn't done by the gunner and his optics but by the commander with binoculars.
All the Abrams has to do is keep moving during the engagement. It’s ability to target and shoot on the go is what made Desert Storm such a turkey shoot. That and the Chobham armor that bounced T shells off.
@@curlyfries2956drones can kill tanks amazingly well now. Guy sitting in the US can fly a drone half way round the world and murder tanks. The ai bit im not so sure though. Im sure they could program the drone to auto target tank like vehicles to engage. But im thinking the rules of war and doctrine will require an officer to allow the shot.
With a good Abrams player, the result is determined by how much the player is willing to wait after finding a position (or perhaps after re-positioning). If they get impatient, they get slapped. If they hold their ground, eventually, their opponents will have to come to them and expose themselves. Honestly, the best tactic once the Abrams player is found would be for a couple people to keep throwing smoke in their face so that they either have to re-position, or push out of the smoke to prevent people from closing the distance. At that point, two people who would have flanked prior would be waiting to take a side shot.
The biggest problem with this fight is that you would have to transfer from the semi-ready and hull racks at some point. Luckily, modern .50 cal rounds could at least disable the Tiger. Not being a WT player, why does the Abrams reticle look so different than the real thing? And why does it not use it's thermal sight? Why not mod it to be more realistic?
As someone who commanded one of these, the only thing the Tigers could do is a mobility kill to the powerpack from behind, as the M1 has no armor from behind, the powerpack is the armor from behind. Also, any of the kinetic energy penatrators, would sprall kill the crew of the tiger, so over pen is not a factor. The 88mm on the Tiger even with the apcr ammo type does not have the ability to penetrate the M-1's armor from any angle, you might as well be throwing rocks at the M-1. You might get a lucky hit to either or both of the gunners or commanders sights, , or even knock off a track, but you can't actually kill the M-1 with a Tiger.
The abrams would simply retreat out of reasonable range for the tiger and pick them off one by one, the speed and range advantage would allow the abrams to choose the battlefield
Considering one of the big advantages of the Abrams is its ability to fire accurately while on the move, not a very realistic scenario have it sit in the same place. Also, with its better range and sights, it should have been able to take out most if not all the Tigers before they could even get within range.
Exactly, the tiger was not able to perform a fire while moving or its turret would be seriously damaged. And it would take 60 seconds for the tiger to turn the turret 360 degrees.
You should do the Tiger 1 H vs T-34(1940) thing where a lone Tiger 1 held off a whole tank battalion of 50 or so T-34s. Basically, the T-34s retreated and the Tiger 1 claimed 17 kills with 5 knock outs. But the Tiger 1 actually ran out of AP ammo and had to resort to using HE ammo. Took 67 hits from Russian F-34 76mm, none of which penetrated.
Not if they can flank it. I know it would be extremely difficult in real life, but it is possible. A Tiger could kill any modern tank from the sides or back. You'd be surprised by how many people think otherwise.
@@kanash8851 that's very funny because atm the US is refusing to send Ukraine any Abrams because of all the maintenance they need. So the real battle would be everyone broken down on random positions trying to snipe each other.
Practically no tank of the 2nd World War can do anything against a modern tank of the 3rd, 4th generation. Abrams alone would have destroyed as many Tigers as he has armor-piercing shells in his ammunition. Our SU-152 (KV-14) and ISU-152 self-propelled guns would have some very weak chances to defeat him. The rest have no chance at all.
Interesting that you have the armor on the Abrams so thin. I thought it was equivalent to 40+ inches of steel. Same with pen on its rounds. The Abrams would do well to use its speed and relocate to better positions.
And in an open map, they should chose a different map that's smaller because he obviously chose this map in favour for thr Abrams. If it was an urban map, it'd be the absolute opposite.
Yeah in future vids I’ve thought about mixing it up a bit or having at least one round where the main tank has to move around and not sit in spawn if they choose to do so in the first round
The number of Tigers killed by 1 Abrams tank would be limited to the number of HEAT/SABOT rounds the Abrams can hold. The number of Abrams tanks killed would be virtually based upon the Abrams fuel and ammo capacity.
I feel what would be more interesting to do next time is have the vehicles being hunted move from spot to spot. It'd be more dynamic and a little more fair seeing as the defenders tactic was just sit in a corner of the map.
Him how many tanks will it take to kill me :me yes I drive and drift around enemies and I aim for the top but I play around with them I actually once had one guy that was a absolute legend he was a ps5 player to and he found my Xbox account so I got a call on Xbox or something and he said gg that was fun
Both tank types can easily fire at each other at several 1000 meters and even if the hit probability and hit effect of the 8.8 cm gun is significantly lower, the sheer quantity of the Tiger 1 should win the battle. I won't go into tactical detail here, of course, because it's not clear who will win the next US election, but the Tigers would fight from cover and the engagement would be more like an artillery attack than direct tank combat. After all, 33 Tiger 1 could theoretically fire 2840 shells!
Love watching the dying specimen known as the Wheraboo crying and pouting in the comments. And this is still kind of unrealistic! Roughly quoting Lazerpig, you have a better chance of "waking up to find out that you've won the lottery six times, getting struck by lightning, and then winning the lottery a seventh time" than you do killing an Abrams in a Tiger tank.
Mind blown, I didnt think the tigers would do any damage to the Abrams. The Abrams is gifted the perfect defensive position, while the tigers have to advance without that much cover. The open ground they have to cover is absurd. The playing field is uneven and that makes it very hard for the tigers to get a shot in effective range, with inferior optics. A tiger 2, with the same defensive position as the Abrams would also have done a lot of damage to the Tiger 1's. Total joke.

You’re basically saying “it isn’t fair that the guys with shotguns aren’t given an unrealistic amount of cover against the sniper, we should force the sniper to fight them in CQC!”
In fact, if this were a “fair” test we should remove the map boundaries entirely and let the Abrams run circles around these things taking pot shots from 2 km away the entire match.

If you get enough tigers then the Abrams will run out of ammo
Oddbawz is an exceptional player. I loved this video.
FURY: THE AMERICAN REVENGE
I’m just imagining the skill of the tank crew in a real scenario, like how good their coordination has to be to pull of movement and shots like these.
I’m just starting the video but the answer is about 40, because that’s about the number of rounds the m1 can carry, and that’s only if it has time to stop in a jibe because it would have to manually reload the ammo rack from the rack behind the tc.
I still can't believe how much this channel is growing well done Muffin!

These videos are cool. I *think* a good way to "simulate" WW2 tech vs more modern technology would be for the Abrams to have access to 3rd person (simulates sensors for more awareness) and the WW2 tanks stuck in first person view
In WW2 Comanders kept their heads outside of the tank in order to spot the enemy

The thermals can see through old style smoke though.
@@robertharris6092 TFW it's 0400 and you forget that not all smoke shells are coded the same. Room temperature IQ moment
Not realistic. Tiger I has very little chance of penetrating an Abrams. Sabot round would go through Tiger I like a hot knife through butter.
Of course it’s not realistic. It’s a “what-if” vid lol
The abrams would simply retreat out of reasonable range for the tiger and pick them off one by one, the speed and range advantage would allow the abrams to choose the battlefield
Why does the scope shaking in the abrams tank??
Considering one of the big advantages of the Abrams is its ability to fire accurately while on the move, not a very realistic scenario have it sit in the same place. Also, with its better range and sights, it should have been able to take out most if not all the Tigers before they could even get within range.
Exactly, the tiger was not able to perform a fire while moving or its turret would be seriously damaged. And it would take 60 seconds for the tiger to turn the turret 360 degrees.

I don't know why, but I'm always rooting for the ww2 vehicles in these videos
I feel what would be more interesting to do next time is have the vehicles being hunted move from spot to spot. It'd be more dynamic and a little more fair seeing as the defenders tactic was just sit in a corner of the map.

Total joke.

Yeah tiger survivability is a bit of a myth. When Germans recorded tank losses, the very rarely ever considered a tank truly lost typically even if a tank is knocked out of commission they would not report it. Hence why their survivability ratio is so "high" while the allies accurately accounted for their tanks
Since Abrams has the speed and range advantage. As many as the shell capacity. Plus Abrams doesn't have to stop for accurate fire.
