Look, the gun sucks for what it's supposed to be (or whatever its trying to be). The balance devs don't know how to properly balance the majority of the weapons, and at the moment we have flame weapons dominating right now when they were complete garbage in the beginning, while Assault rifles are fighting for scraps on getting used (aside from the Sickle) because their damage is so pitiful and lack any punch or usability aside from trash mob clears when you have Incinerator breaker for that. Just because you have a different opinion on the Purifier compared to the masses doesn't mean your opinion is right on this gun. There are guns (plas-punisher, scorcher) that fill the roles of what this gun is trying to be and in less hassle. Cheers, man.
dude you can like the gun, no one is stopping you from using it. if for some reason you want a punisher plasma without bullet drop then go nuts. but calling it a "hidden gem" and "underrated" is disingenuous at best and yea, clickbait at worst. its at best a niche pick if you want a aoe plasma gun that excels at range, does a bit of everything but is kinda mediocre at all of it too

I would agree if it had more damage per second or shot but it takes too long to kill so many different enemies but I will agree that it's being slept on for mid tier games
I want to love this gun… but it has nothing special that other weapons can’t do better and faster. I’ll use it more when they give it a proper identity.

Needs a scope and bullet velocity and the regular uncharge shot added back and add the damage to the actual charge shot.. weapon mods and attachments are needed so much.. at least add more firing modes until optics and thermals come to the game
Because it is the plasma punisher in damage profile and numbers. It uses the same weapon and damage ids as the plasma punisher. Someone made an error when making this weapon.
Purifier has to be from a prior build before the punisher plasma was buffed, just like tenderizer and liberator. Once they balance these weapons based on the last balance patch they should be good
Biggest thing this gun needs is damage and increased projectile speed. For a gun that charges up you’d expect it to atleast 1 shot most chaff and 2-3 shot medium enemies, but sometimes it can’t even reliably kill hunters and the small bots which sucks for such a slow firing weapon.
agreed. There's nothing fundamentally wrong about the purifier. It feels nice to shoot, reload isn't long, range is quite nice. It just doesn't hit hard enough. If it could one shot scout striders in their leg and just one shot hunters with the splash, I could see a good niche for it to fit in. Its certainly a lot simpler of a solution than whatever they they're gonna do to the tenderizer. I still don't know what that gun is supposed to do compared to every other AR which is saying something because they're all kinda bad.
Plasma Purifier is the reason that Plasma Punisher gets rediscovered as a hidden gem. Purifier is basically a combination of Punisher, Scorcher and Arc Thrower. With all of its downsides but excels in none.
Diligence counter sniper is my new absolute favorite against bots. Absolute beast mode. Jar dominator and scorcher are still other great choices for bots

@@Jhunta I’m happy that it works for you. For bugs I value time to kill because things can easily spiral out of control so things need to be neutralized quickly (and move on to doing objectives).
@Jhunta it may be good for bugs on lvl 4 difficulty. You are getting destroyed on 7+. The Purifier was likely made as a counter-bot weapon. Of course, there are much better long range options for that.
It is underrated. If there was no punisher plasma, it would be my top pick against bots. Actually is my top pick right now since range and mag size gives it some uses over the pun plas; but I am a weird person. Stagger AoE is extremely nice. That said, the weapon is underpowered, and also misleading. It says medium armor pen, but it has the same armor pen as the plas punisher, projectile has pen 2 (light pen) 100 damage and the explosion has pen 3 (medium pen) 150 damage. At the very least, it should do 150 direct damage at pen 3, with the 150 pen 3 splash. This would allow it to one shot devastator heads and warrior heads. It reduce the shots to kill against most armored targets, and give it more damage against tank heat sinks.
For real honestly, this should just be an alternate firing mode for the scorcher, and this purifier should be a sniper instead. With a rework. The color of the charge up isn't even right.. it's supposed to be blue and they copy pasted the quasar cannon fx
The thing that turns me off the most about this weapon is that they outright sold it as a weapon that deals more damage the longer it's charged, but by all accounts I've seen, that's only barely true. I would have expected that marketing to translate to a weapon that can do acceptable damage at various levels of charge but taking the time to charge it all the way does massive damage - a risk vs reward calculation similar to the Railgun in unsafe mode. Instead it's like the Arc Thrower and Punisher Plasma had a baby. Which is also fine by me, but it's not what that language suggested.
Its like the Tenderizer, by itself is not a bad AR, a smooth handling version of the Liberator, but the description calling it a high caliber option is just totally off, and made it not live up to those expectations
My fear is that arrowhead balanced this weapon against this initial version of the punisher plasma, i.e. before the last big balance patch. The pre-balance punisher had a very short effective range and was almost impossible to aim at anything beyond that. The purifier might have been arrowheads answer to this shortcoming, at the expense of a long charge-up time. Now that the punisher plasma has been buffed by getting a bigger muzzle velocity, it is easy to use at low to medium range (and has thus become an extraordinarily great weapon against bots). The purifier was obsolete at the time it was released because it did not receive a similar buff. It is good to hear that it used to have a use-case. But frankly put: encounters against bugs are at

@@PalmonSweat tiers can be a rough guide, but doesn't work very well cuz Helldivers2 is much more nuanced than what it seems at a 1st glance. Enemy types (faction differences) and loadout synergies matter quite a lot. A weapon might be 'f tier' against bots but be really 'a tier' against bugs, for a simple example. If complexity gets to a certain level just to accommodate the many possibilities, it defeats the purpose of ranking weapons in tiers for sake of simplicity.
Glad you found a weapon you enjoy. I personally think it doesn’t feel very good at all in terms of feel and with it’s fire rate. As well as with the bugs people are saying about it’s armor pen not working it probably does feel right at the moment anyway. With that in mind if it still doesn’t feel great a variable scope and a slight dmg buff would probably put it in line with some of the other decent weapons in my opinion.
The plasma shotgun's limitation for me is that it's really bad vs flying targets like gunship and shriekers. But then you have your support weapons for that like the laser, ac or amr vs bots, and your sidearm for bugs. For range, you can do skill shots with it - be the mortar. It's one of the few weapons that can do shots over cover. While maybe the Purifier is good in range, I find almost little to no need to shoot in farther ranges. This is why I have trouble fitting the Purifier in my builds as there are, in my opinion, better choices. Perhaps AH can come up with something better for it.
Not really being able to hit Shriekers definitely hurts the PPunisher in some situations, but I don't think there are any primary weapons that can take out Gunships? Other than that, though, I pretty much agree- I love plasma and explosive weapons, but the Purifier doesn't really feel like it measures up. It's not _unuseably_ bad like some people are claiming, but much like the Tenderizer it lacks any real role compared to other weapons.

@@tobiasrex8052 serves a different function from the Scorcher and Plasma Punisher, not everything has to be good at everything, most people are bad at the game and don’t do any testing and immediately scream something sucks after hardly using it. @@tobiasrex8052 long/mid range consistent extremely high stagger and kills, it shreds through bots, can one shot striders when aiming properly and perma stuns devestators, can kill tanks and turrets since it can penetrate medium armor and does alright against bugs until you get swarmed, but the Scorcher/Plasma Punisher suffer from the same issues when you get swarmed by bugs. Why do you need another primary to close holes? Most support weapons and grenades can do that, you’re yet again falling to the mentality of “this one gun has to be a universal multi tool or else it sucks hurrrrr” mentality. Also the plasma punisher can’t close holes or anything like that either so idk why you’re using that as a point when it’s flat out wrong lol I haven’t seen anyone that criticizes the gun actually dismantle it in a logical and convincing way that doesn’t resort to “b-b-but this other gun has some of the same effects so it’s worthless” argument that holds no water
I personally found this weapon to be trash. What I'd hoped for was something akin to the Plasma rifle from Warhammer 40k. What we got was a marshmellow tosser. Considering the frantic rate of combat at the higher difficulties the slower rate of fire just doesn't work well. The damage on direct shots doesn't feel significant enough when engaging most medium enemy types.
Finally, someone else that appreciates this gun lol I'll admit though, it does need a bit more "oomph" in the damage department. At least 300 damage in my opinion would be good to get it a more stable place in common Helldiver's loadouts.
I like this weapon. The only sad point.. this is just a weaker scorcher. 3~4 shots for a walker, 4~5 shots for a devastator.. Scorcher needs like 1 more hit to kill, but there is not 1 seconde more between each shot
These “high dmg” guns in the game really need a buff. They don’t do near enough dmg to justify their shortcomings. They should be able to kill devasators in 1-2 shots because that’s about how long it takes in seconds to kill them with the scorcher.
Updated 2024/06/13: Now the explosion can deal damage to armor enemy making it less punishing. What’s even this gun? Long range - no 2-4x scope so good luck Explosive - small aoe control Charge - low damage for wasting my time I tried to be both railgun and plasma shotgun but not good as either
I believe the reason why everybody hates the Purifier is because there's better options for Primaries. People WOULD run the Purifier, but considering that there are better options available that outdo the purifier in numerous categories, nobody runs it for good reason. The Punisher-P has a higher fire-rate and splash radius, but has a drop-off and a slower projectile speed compared to the Purifier. This would be great but considering that a majority of the game revolves around retreating because you can easily get swarmed, you'll find yourself more into close encounters than trying to play sniper. Even if you attempt to play sniper, you'll eventually get that one Patrol who'll force you into a close encounter battle unless you go full metal gear solid, but at that point why even run the Purifier? If you plan to be far ranged, run the Diligence-CS. It has Medium AP, it can one shot devastators to the head and often one shot's troopers to the body. It doesn't have a stagger but you're not going to be up-close anyway, so why bother. Even then the Punisher-P's projectile isn't as slow as it was before, and once you get used to the arc it can become really good. The Scorcher is instant, It has roughly the same splash radius, has the same magazine & capacity count, 50 less damage, no stagger and lower AP. The Purifier should technically outclass this weapon but it doesn't. What makes the Scorcher good is that it practically ignores medium armor unless it's heavy. The explosion from the Scorcher allows you to do pretty much everything the Purifier does but faster. The Scorcher also allows room for error, so even if you don't directly shoot the head, the explosion damage would cover a little bit of that damage; you can mess up shots but won't be heavily punished for it since hitting the head and body have roughly the same TTK (Time To Kill). For the Purifier, you miss once? Got to charge that baby up to kill one devastator/hive guard 4 times. This can also go back to the Punisher-P. Unlike the Purifier, Both of these guns can keep up with the enemy spawn rates with their explosion radius alone and ability to quickly take out enemies as they come in. They can't stand alone in terms of actually holding a line, but it can clear a crowd significantly faster than the purifier. I heard you mentioned crowd control and dealing with lighter enemies, but there's a SIGNIFICANTLY better option in that category as well. The Breaker Incendiary has been a favorite because of it's crowd control ability. You can shoot 3 shells into a patrol and light them all on fire, dealing more damage than the Purifier with 3 shots and then some. The fire affect allows for constant damage to not only soften up enemies, but also kill them. Not only that, even if you miss all pellets, the enemies will most likely catch fire and will now do Damage Over Time since it's fixed. The biggest issue with the Purifier is the fact that not only does messing up your shots punish you heavily, but it just takes WAY too long to kill enemies with this thing even if you land your shots. I was kind of hoping for this gun to be similar to the Eruptor, in which the gun is really good against medium to heavy units, but sucks at clearing light enemies. I hope that's the direction it would head towards in the near future, it would make machine guns a viable tool to run. But in general, what makes the Purifier horrible is the time it takes to kill enemies. Sure it can clear crowds, but other guns do that faster with ease; Sure it can stagger, but other guns can do that too while not having a charge up; Sure it has Medium AP, but once again the Scorcher pretty much has Medium AP with it's explosions. I really hope they buff up the damage and turn it into another Eruptor (a long charge but powerful blast to hurt medium to heavy units). However as it is right now, it can't keep up with other guns. If you want to run the Purifier, the Scorcher with a 1 second trigger discipline is pretty much the same thing.
I feel like any of the jobs you listed for it I can do better and more efficiently with other options. Ex: tank and turret towers- grenade launcher takes out in 3ish shots without a charge up and still leaves me open for a better primary
it doesnt have medium pen like advertised. problem is its explosive so its hard to see this easily. but even then, the gun needs a BIG damage buff. upwards of at least 350 if not more.

I love the Punisher Plasma, dont wait to shoot, also good at range, i aim above enemies and throw the plasm right inn the middle of a bunch of bots...almost every time a hit, reaches most time to the viewing range.... only issue 8 shots.I also like to hot over obsticles and kill those mech bastards without sight 😀 always fun to see the red crosshair after hitting a hidden enemy 😀
You know what would be a fun buff to the Purifier? Leveling damage and the ability to hold a charge. Let me explain. Imagine after the 1 second charge-up, the gun went through a couple of levels. Hold for 1 second = 250 damage Hold for 2 seconds = 500 damage Hold for 3 seconds = 750 damage (Each level also uses another round from the magazine, for balance) Sounds kinda pointless to begin with. But then you pair it with the ability to hold a charge. Charge up a shot out of combat, store it, then when you need it, initiate combat with a 750 damage explosion with no wind up. Think of it like Charge Shot from Samus. You have a charge ready to go, but you can still move freely. You could either have to hold the fire button (like Super Metroid) or have it store the shot with a blinking light (like Smash Bros) Nothing game breaking, but an extra level of fun. (Hint, hint, balancing team)
Most of that “stagger” at 0:54 is not stagger, it’s the bugs auto-dodge from being hit by an AoE weapon, it’s why it only happens once per 3-4 seconds despite the weapon hitting every 2-3 seconds. They do the same from almost every other AoE in the game, hunters do it for all weapons which is why so many people hate shooting at them. You can see it again at 3:04 with the prawn. Bugs side-hop when hit with certain attacks it’s also why they ragdoll oddly sometimes because the physics takes effect on the corpse which is “lighter” than the live unit.
It is a punisher plasma with less drop but a fraction of the fire rate. There is no reason to use it. At range there are better options and close in the punisher would be a better option in every case. Even that weapon is poor over all.

The only viable option to use this is to be carried by someone that's doing real damage and you stagger things for them, being a good npc, although by the time you try to stagger anything It will probably be dead by that other person's weapon
The main problems are miscommunication (we expected a Scorcher with Unsafe Mode, not this), Scope options (I mean it's supposed to be a Rifle) and, personally, I want a way to cancel a shot. When playing stealthily, there's not much worse than having to waste a shot into the environment and possibly alerting the enemy with it ... Do you know if there is an option to cancel a charged up shot I've missed? I've tried switching weapons and Strategems menu and that doesn't work...
Given that devs admitted they were behind and things were dropping on a schedule. I'm assuming the purifier was meant to be exactly like the scorcher in semi auto. Light penetrating 200 damage per single shot BUT you have the option to charge the weapon and have a 250 damage medium penetration shot. Not confirmed but I can imagine that's how this will get buffed in the future.
@@Mogz-hd I was being sarcastic to get across a certain point, but let me be more clear. It's 100% alright for you to like this weapon. I'm glad you do, because at least someone is. But this weapon has no reason to ever be taken over any other weapon, as it combines the drawbacks of the plasma punisher and scorcher without the strengths either has. It being able to kill chargers in ten shots underneath them is a nominal feature; you would be wasting your time doing that, and the only reason to ever do so is if you literally had no other means of killing it. Being able to destroy spore spewers is a gimmick that you would put on the packaging of a worthless product to pad out feature lists, like an MP3 player advertising its pause button as a feature. If you were to ever want to take the purifier, just take the scorcher and enjoy having literally over 4x the fire rate for the same performance.
I must be bad at the game then since I'm struggling at killing things with this thing.... I choose to support team by killing things outright, than simply providing crowd control and doing little damage, because more bad guys will keep spawning / approach the fight, stopping the team from completing objectives. Weapons like the Purifier doesn't provide me that, more power to those with the skill that can make it work though.
1:50 from the looks of it, it might be my new nain for atomatons. The Punisher Plasma was good as a grenade launcher with both aoe and staggering edfects, but ive always been somewhat of a support/sniper. I always take my time to aim shot dor most damage so the charge raight isnt a problem for me.
I personally love this weapon, but most of what everyone says about it is true. Why use this when we have the Puni-Plasma, which essentially does a better job and no charge time? It says it's both explosive and "medium armor pen." but it certainly doesn't feel like it at all. Meanwhile, the Puni-plasma is simply explosive, but hits like a truck. The only true advantage the Purifier has is that it shoots completely straight, much like a sniper rifle. It's almost like The Purifier was made by someone who didn't know the Punisher Plasma already existed. Also, what's with all those energy bolts coming from the sky at 3:09 ?

the correct take, enjoy something for what it is, not pretending its something better. i love using LC, but its so bad, and it feels weaker since the last patch even tho its damage was supposed to be buffed so i don't get it. i don't tell people its amazing i say i like using it and think it sucks, same with prenerf crossbow.

Why would you use this weapon? It’s literally just the scorcher but worse. You have to charge it up and even then, a basic terminid unit takes two headshots to kill. Devastators tank 6 shots, which is just laughable. Sure, the scorcher does less damage, but it does everything the purifier does, except its faster. As the final weapon of a paid warbond, absolute garbage
you charging it up for +50 damage and a bigger radius. Im going to keep spaming that this should of been an ALt fire for the Scorcher. *Charging up shots* for stronger damage when its lock at a dmg rate shows this gun is fundamentally broken according to its own description

Thanks for the analysis bruv Honestly, i want to like it, but I don't think the stagger nor the damage on this weapon are good enough for D7+. Its cool that it takes ~4 shots to kill medium armor, but its actual TTK is just way too slow due to the charge time. Also, something about this weapon just feels broken. The explosion vfx gets bigger the farther the away the projectile is (like the Plasma Pun), and it doesnt feel like the weapon has med pen at all. If you took the damage profile of the current Eruptor and gave it to this weapon, then we'd be cooking.
Just started using the Purifier right after i unlocked it. It has been underwhelming in most aspects but some of its traits like the stagger have kept it a foot above the grave. From what ive experienced, the Purifier is a weapon that relies heavily on the support strategems you choose, due to its lack of ability to dish out damage values like the scorcher and sickle. Personally, i think that its a good thing that this weapin was released in an unintended state. Yes i still hate Alexus for advertising these weapons as S tier when theyre a C or B at best. But for those of us who have and are using the Purifier at its worst will get to know the weapon, and when the buff comes around, will be able to use it to ots maxiumum potential right out of the hellpod. If the buff comes around, and if it does indeed deliever the Purifier to its indended state, maybe we'll see the helldivers whove used this at its worst run around like they all have semi-automatic pocket railguns.

i think what people fail to realize is that the devs are probably actively balancing these guns with an enemy faction we haven’t seen yet (illuminate) which would explain why some of these guns just feel like straight ass when using against bots or bugs, their niches are incomplete until we can test them against the 3rd enemy faction and then we can truly come to a formal conclusion on balancing, until then, it’s all speculation.
@tobiasrex8052 have you played HD1? There are some weapons that are way better than others for certain factions. That said, you could be right...maybe I'm just optimistic

lol u mean the "it doesnt 1 shot striders" thing that everyone seems intent on repeating? i think ppl suddenly forgot that trailers are very often dramatizations of the product.. most/all movie/tvshow trailers are.. weapon trailers in hd2 are no different. Just cos the trailer showed a 2 second slowmo clip of a strider dying in 1 hit.. uh, it didnt show the lead up to that battle so you cannot infer ANYTHING from that clip.

Honestly I found it terribly irritating when an ally has it. The push shove enemies so far and so suddenly I kept having to sharply adjust my aim whenever my Purifier ally tried to help.
This is the problem with the balence to IMO They're too lazy to give new weapons personality and they find it OP Let's take the PLAS-101 and Eruptor for this case The Eruptor wasn't a fan favorite just because it was good, it was because it was unique with its shrapnel and forced players to play TO the gun instead of the gun playing to THEM. Then the devs, instead of balancing out the shrapnel so it can't one-shot chargers, completely removed it. Ruining what it was. not only making it unnecessarily weaker but also removing its identity and just turning it into another gun with an “explosive” passive. The devs just outright fucking lied saying it was a good decision and saying these weapons shouldn't have so much collateral (despite the existence of the fucking Arc weapons) Now for the PLAS-101 Purifier, this is like the Deagle secondary that came in the same Warbond and tried to do everything, playing TO the player, yes it's okay at just about everything, but it excels at nothing. Nothing that's not already done with the other plasma weapons Slow and clunky crowd clearer? Nope, that's the Punisher Plasma. Quick and sharp response CQC? Nope, that's the PLAS-1 Scorcher Heavy and slow, elite unit destroyer/vehicle and building dismantled? Maybe, but the devs didn't want to go full-on. Scared it would make it OP, so they made it have an identity crisis.
I don't really like the charge up weapons in the game. I feel like a good alternative to this than charge up is if it acts like a single fire breach load energy weapon, where you change the plasma cartridge after each shot like the rail gun. Also this can kill a shredder tank shooting at the front plate armor of the turret, pretty surprised when I did it. This would've been a good weapon if the punisher plasma or the pummeler didn't exist. Both weapons can fire faster than the purifier and both weapons has the same if not superior stagger because they can fire faster and sustain that stagger and can keep enemies away longer. This would be used more if it can 1 shot medium enemies with direct hit and a stagger that last longer with how slow it fires.
Only thing this weapon is good for is wasting hard earned medals. Stick with the scorcher or punisher plasma, they have better dps, aoe and general ease of use.
Purifier is just a higher skill floor weapon that has great potential when you meet those requirements. Scorcher was/is similar in that respect. I actually love that they aren't brainless pewpew, and actually encourage the use of your secondary at times.
There is no reason to choose this over the Scorcher. It is absolutely useless. Like 70% of the weapons in this game. They need to rework a lot of their weapons
The thing how balance USUALLY work in games is a system of pros and cons when we compare two similar weapons Lets compare it with Scorcher. + Splash is wider. Scorcher's splash deals max damage of 100 in 1 meter radius and falls off until it only deals stagger without damage at radius of 2 meters. Purifier deals full explosive damage of 150 in 2 meter radius. Fall off is at 3 meters radius. + Explosive damage is 150. Scorcher only deals 100. And here we go - Charge up mechanic not only makes rate of fire SIGNIFICANTLY worse than Scorcher's but also makes you press and hold button every shot possibly annoying player and making him miss shots - Charge up strangely doesn't give you more damage or explosion radius. It's just a mandatory thing to make a shot - Medium penetration is only explosion's trait. Projectile still can only penetrate light armor Judging by that there are some solutions that can make Purifier good: 1) Charging increases damage/armor pen/splash radius but weapon can now be shot without charging (slightly slower than punisher plasma) 2) Charging is passive now. You shoot and weapon recharges by itself. Still needs increase in some of the stats 3) Make more charge levels that will consume more ammo and result in huge explosion area (something like what good old Eruptor could do on release, maybe even more powerful)
Ppl complaining about this gun clearly aren’t using it correctly. This isn’t an in your face pew pew shoot and kill instantly gun you need distance and space awareness when using it. The gun is decent. Like mentioned in this video, paired with jet pack and get that elevation. I also use light armor and scout perk. It’s a sniper build weapon that’s more like a support weapon. I use it to support my homies when they going in.
It's essentially that using it made me unable to use my primary weapon during a match. It was so bad at killing things that I had to pick up other hell-divers weapons to do anything. It is borderline worse than anything primary currently.
Hands down one of my favorite weapon designs, unfortunately it doesn’t do as well as its predecessors at hardly anything. The niche it fills is too specific imho. I don’t think the charge up time was necessary either, and was just AH being concerned it would be broken if it had a high fire rate due to its AoE on top of medium armor pen. AH could fix it easy by giving it new firing modes. Standard charge up mode that provides large AoE and a regular old pew pew mode that drops the AoE (or reduces it) and/or does less damage in exchange for a higher fire rate. This would put the weapon in a nice versatility over power niche. You exchange the raw power of other weapons for the ability to be more versatile in combat, able to go from crowd clearing to single target dps when necessary, instead of having to rely on sidearms and startagem weapons to fill those roles.
It's just a scorcher with a CHARGE UP TIME. Removing the charge up time just makes it a scorcher. I say keep the chargeup but give it either unlimited ammo or more of a punch.
It seems like this weapon just like the Tenderizer have been released in an early testing version and they will get buffed very soon. The devs even acknowledged that the Tenderizer's stats are not what they indented, in the patch notes known issues list. Since the community has managed to fill every social media of the game with a ton of negativity, I assume the devs will buff things to appease them and they will buff the Purifier even it they didn't official acknowledge that it is lacking as a weapon.
The Punisher Plasma is also a little Mortar. In large areas you can kill Enemys in far by shoot in the sky and selfadjust the angle. Its not even trigger the enemys most of the time. But ist not precise loike the Purifier on long range, and there has to be much more lead in because ofe the feet per second the plasmaball got. Punisher is higher in shots per second i think. Punisher is able to shoot behind mates without killing them, but the enemys behind the mates.
I really want to love this weapon. I'm glad you're enjoying it but I can't seem to get a feel for it. I think it's on the verge on greatness but is being held short by the restrictive rate of fire. One change would make this S-tier. Allow it to be fired in Semi-Auto at reduced damage, and/or radius, and/or penetration. It would be incredible.
Purifyer breakpoints and punisher plasma are too similar in a sense, there's less reward in using purifier due to lack damage burst necessary to eliminate enemies quickly which the punisher plasma can dish out in a single mag in quick succession. The issue with the gun is the speed of killing elite enemies is way slower than what the punisher plasma can do... Though it has an advantage of having higher ammo per mag... the punisher can easily compensate with its quick paced shots and reload that doesn't gimp you into switching to a side arm to practically use it at close-mid range proximity. [While sure it can't murder flying gun ships, but let's be honest... if your gonna bring a CC weapon, you want a gun that can fire continuously and still capable of delaying big threats that is already locked on to you.] The purifier is most likely going get staggered or already too late to fire, with its aoe already in your face. The clunkiness alone made it less popular with very good reason. Little reward with each charged shot. It's not like Arc thrower that guarantee's a kill behind the enemy. Hell, I'd use the nerfed eruptor and that thing staggers the same way it can and the reload per shot is almost similar to it. [It can also destroy objectives to boot, who cares about ammo anymore.]
Huh, a positive video on this weapon. Honestly I think the main issues is the charge up time, which lets enemies get in close if you're not careful, and the lack of power compared to what was shown in the trailer. Granted, what was shown was it one shotting Scout Striders, which could easily have actually been two shots but cut to look like one, but before the War Bond came out they did buff the Strider's explosion resistance. It was in the big balance patch where the Liberator got buffed, which ended up making it as strong at the Tenderizer so when the Tenderizer came out it was "just a side grade."
haha i dont understand people watching trailers n thinking they represent the capability of the weapon in every clip. Trailers for movies are always a bunch of clips taken out of context for dramatic effect.. same goes for hd2 weapon trailers
@@Mogz-hd Yeah, same thing happened with the Thermite grenades. Was shown thrown at a Charger so people just assumed it would be good to use against them. Even after the DoT bug was fixed it ended up just okay. That said, it does raise the question of if the Striders used in the trailer had the explosion resistance buff from the patch or if they were weakened versions just for the trailer to make the weapon look better.

been rocking it for a while, and much like the puni-plasma I do enjoy playing w/... both bound to be less popular due to the steep learning curve and not so obvious use cases... still, from the get-go the purifier is kinda weak... it should 2-tap brood commanders and the crazy chain saw bots, needs a scope, and better full charge cue cuz is hard to tell when in 1st person (I know there's a sound cue, but occasionally is hard to hear it, specially during chaotic moments where you need the gun not to choke) this is another gun on my "I like even tho is not very good" list cheers homie... oh and where are my parody commercial style weapon vids? lol maybe we could use one for the airburst rocket!!! I like the idea of a charge up weapon. But it needs a little more damage. My idea would be to make it a multi stage charge up... like the railgun. Let me click it for fast low damage shots and charge up for a damage boost maybe 1-2 seconds for extra damage, so it can be used like the eruptor.
Don't you just love charge up primary weapons with relatively limited ammo that will kill you if you fire it in close range when you have 2 patrols of bugs that jump into melee range ? Look, the gun sucks for what it's supposed to be (or whatever its trying to be).
The balance devs don't know how to properly balance the majority of the weapons, and at the moment we have flame weapons dominating right now when they were complete garbage in the beginning, while Assault rifles are fighting for scraps on getting used (aside from the Sickle) because their damage is so pitiful and lack any punch or usability aside from trash mob clears when you have Incinerator breaker for that.
Just because you have a different opinion on the Purifier compared to the masses doesn't mean your opinion is right on this gun. There are guns (plas-punisher, scorcher) that fill the roles of what this gun is trying to be and in less hassle.

Because it is the plasma punisher in damage profile and numbers. It uses the same weapon and damage ids as the plasma punisher. Someone made an error when making this weapon.
Purifier has to be from a prior build before the punisher plasma was buffed, just like tenderizer and liberator. Once they balance these weapons based on the last balance patch they should be good
Biggest thing this gun needs is damage and increased projectile speed. For a gun that charges up you’d expect it to atleast 1 shot most chaff and 2-3 shot medium enemies, but sometimes it can’t even reliably kill hunters and the small bots which sucks for such a slow firing weapon.
agreed. There's nothing fundamentally wrong about the purifier. It feels nice to shoot, reload isn't long, range is quite nice. It just doesn't hit hard enough. If it could one shot scout striders in their leg and just one shot hunters with the splash, I could see a good niche for it to fit in. Its certainly a lot simpler of a solution than whatever they they're gonna do to the tenderizer. I still don't know what that gun is supposed to do compared to every other AR which is saying something because they're all kinda bad.

Plasma Purifier is the reason that Plasma Punisher gets rediscovered as a hidden gem.
Purifier is basically a combination of Punisher, Scorcher and Arc Thrower. With all of its downsides but excels in none.
"2 shots for warriors" was all i needed to hear. That is way to little damage for a charge up weapon
Diligence counter sniper is my new absolute favorite against bots. Absolute beast mode. Jar dominator and scorcher are still other great choices for bots

@Jhunta it may be good for bugs on lvl 4 difficulty. You are getting destroyed on 7+. The Purifier was likely made as a counter-bot weapon. Of course, there are much better long range options for that.

It is underrated. If there was no punisher plasma, it would be my top pick against bots. Actually is my top pick right now since range and mag size gives it some uses over the pun plas; but I am a weird person.
Stagger AoE is extremely nice. That said, the weapon is underpowered, and also misleading. It says medium armor pen, but it has the same armor pen as the plas punisher, projectile has pen 2 (light pen) 100 damage and the explosion has pen 3 (medium pen) 150 damage.
At the very least, it should do 150 direct damage at pen 3, with the 150 pen 3 splash. This would allow it to one shot devastator heads and warrior heads. It reduce the shots to kill against most armored targets, and give it more damage against tank heat sinks.

The thing that turns me off the most about this weapon is that they outright sold it as a weapon that deals more damage the longer it's charged, but by all accounts I've seen, that's only barely true. I would have expected that marketing to translate to a weapon that can do acceptable damage at various levels of charge but taking the time to charge it all the way does massive damage - a risk vs reward calculation similar to the Railgun in unsafe mode. Instead it's like the Arc Thrower and Punisher Plasma had a baby. Which is also fine by me, but it's not what that language suggested.

Its like the Tenderizer, by itself is not a bad AR, a smooth handling version of the Liberator, but the description calling it a high caliber option is just totally off, and made it not live up to those expectations
My fear is that arrowhead balanced this weapon against this initial version of the punisher plasma, i.e. before the last big balance patch. The pre-balance punisher had a very short effective range and was almost impossible to aim at anything beyond that. The purifier might have been arrowheads answer to this shortcoming, at the expense of a long charge-up time.
Now that the punisher plasma has been buffed by getting a bigger muzzle velocity, it is easy to use at low to medium range (and has thus become an extraordinarily great weapon against bots). The purifier was obsolete at the time it was released because it did not receive a similar buff.

@@Mogz-hd I know you don’t agree with me but tiers do work in hellsivers. Why? Because it helps give the gun a place. And the plas purifier really is not that good of a gun. It is a downgraded plas punisher. Like if a gun is garbage nobody will use it, therefore it is f tier.
@@PalmonSweat tiers can be a rough guide, but doesn't work very well cuz Helldivers2 is much more nuanced than what it seems at a 1st glance. Enemy types (faction differences) and loadout synergies matter quite a lot. A weapon might be 'f tier' against bots but be really 'a tier' against bugs, for a simple example. If complexity gets to a certain level just to accommodate the many possibilities, it defeats the purpose of ranking weapons in tiers for sake of simplicity.
Glad you found a weapon you enjoy. I personally think it doesn’t feel very good at all in terms of feel and with it’s fire rate. As well as with the bugs people are saying about it’s armor pen not working it probably does feel right at the moment anyway. With that in mind if it still doesn’t feel great a variable scope and a slight dmg buff would probably put it in line with some of the other decent weapons in my opinion.

The plasma shotgun's limitation for me is that it's really bad vs flying targets like gunship and shriekers. But then you have your support weapons for that like the laser, ac or amr vs bots, and your sidearm for bugs. For range, you can do skill shots with it - be the mortar. It's one of the few weapons that can do shots over cover.
While maybe the Purifier is good in range, I find almost little to no need to shoot in farther ranges. This is why I have trouble fitting the Purifier in my builds as there are, in my opinion, better choices. Perhaps AH can come up with something better for it.
Not really being able to hit Shriekers definitely hurts the PPunisher in some situations, but I don't think there are any primary weapons that can take out Gunships? Other than that, though, I pretty much agree- I love plasma and explosive weapons, but the Purifier doesn't really feel like it measures up. It's not _unuseably_ bad like some people are claiming, but much like the Tenderizer it lacks any real role compared to other weapons.
This is the level of thinking that rivals the AH balance team's weapon balancing skill.

@@tobiasrex8052 long/mid range consistent extremely high stagger and kills, it shreds through bots, can one shot striders when aiming properly and perma stuns devestators, can kill tanks and turrets since it can penetrate medium armor and does alright against bugs until you get swarmed, but the Scorcher/Plasma Punisher suffer from the same issues when you get swarmed by bugs. Why do you need another primary to close holes? Most support weapons and grenades can do that, you’re yet again falling to the mentality of “this one gun has to be a universal multi tool or else it sucks hurrrrr” mentality. Also the plasma punisher can’t close holes or anything like that either so idk why you’re using that as a point when it’s flat out wrong lol I haven’t seen anyone that criticizes the gun actually dismantle it in a logical and convincing way that doesn’t resort to “b-b-but this other gun has some of the same effects so it’s worthless” argument that holds no water
I personally found this weapon to be trash. What I'd hoped for was something akin to the Plasma rifle from Warhammer 40k. What we got was a marshmellow tosser. Considering the frantic rate of combat at the higher difficulties the slower rate of fire just doesn't work well. The damage on direct shots doesn't feel significant enough when engaging most medium enemy types.

These “high dmg” guns in the game really need a buff. They don’t do near enough dmg to justify their shortcomings. They should be able to kill devasators in 1-2 shots because that’s about how long it takes in seconds to kill them with the scorcher.
Updated 2024/06/13: Now the explosion can deal damage to armor enemy making it less punishing.

I believe the reason why everybody hates the Purifier is because there's better options for Primaries. People WOULD run the Purifier, but considering that there are better options available that outdo the purifier in numerous categories, nobody runs it for good reason.
The Punisher-P has a higher fire-rate and splash radius, but has a drop-off and a slower projectile speed compared to the Purifier. This would be great but considering that a majority of the game revolves around retreating because you can easily get swarmed, you'll find yourself more into close encounters than trying to play sniper. Even if you attempt to play sniper, you'll eventually get that one Patrol who'll force you into a close encounter battle unless you go full metal gear solid, but at that point why even run the Purifier? If you plan to be far ranged, run the Diligence-CS. It has Medium AP, it can one shot devastators to the head and often one shot's troopers to the body. It doesn't have a stagger but you're not going to be up-close anyway, so why bother. Even then the Punisher-P's projectile isn't as slow as it was before, and once you get used to the arc it can become really good.
The Scorcher is instant, It has roughly the same splash radius, has the same magazine & capacity count, 50 less damage, no stagger and lower AP. The Purifier should technically outclass this weapon but it doesn't. What makes the Scorcher good is that it practically ignores medium armor unless it's heavy. The explosion from the Scorcher allows you to do pretty much everything the Purifier does but faster. The Scorcher also allows room for error, so even if you don't directly shoot the head, the explosion damage would cover a little bit of that damage; you can mess up shots but won't be heavily punished for it since hitting the head and body have roughly the same TTK (Time To Kill). For the Purifier, you miss once? Got to charge that baby up to kill one devastator/hive guard 4 times. This can also go back to the Punisher-P. Unlike the Purifier, Both of these guns can keep up with the enemy spawn rates with their explosion radius alone and ability to quickly take out enemies as they come in. They can't stand alone in terms of actually holding a line, but it can clear a crowd significantly faster than the purifier.
I heard you mentioned crowd control and dealing with lighter enemies, but there's a SIGNIFICANTLY better option in that category as well. The Breaker Incendiary has been a favorite because of it's crowd control ability. You can shoot 3 shells into a patrol and light them all on fire, dealing more damage than the Purifier with 3 shots and then some. The fire affect allows for constant damage to not only soften up enemies, but also kill them. Not only that, even if you miss all pellets, the enemies will most likely catch fire and will now do Damage Over Time since it's fixed.
The biggest issue with the Purifier is the fact that not only does messing up your shots punish you heavily, but it just takes WAY too long to kill enemies with this thing even if you land your shots. I was kind of hoping for this gun to be similar to the Eruptor, in which the gun is really good against medium to heavy units, but sucks at clearing light enemies. I hope that's the direction it would head towards in the near future, it would make machine guns a viable tool to run. But in general, what makes the Purifier horrible is the time it takes to kill enemies. Sure it can clear crowds, but other guns do that faster with ease; Sure it can stagger, but other guns can do that too while not having a charge up; Sure it has Medium AP, but once again the Scorcher pretty much has Medium AP with it's explosions. I really hope they buff up the damage and turn it into another Eruptor (a long charge but powerful blast to hurt medium to heavy units). However as it is right now, it can't keep up with other guns. If you want to run the Purifier, the Scorcher with a 1 second trigger discipline is pretty much the same thing.
I feel like any of the jobs you listed for it I can do better and more efficiently with other options. Ex: tank and turret towers- grenade launcher takes out in 3ish shots without a charge up and still leaves me open for a better primary

I love the Punisher Plasma, dont wait to shoot, also good at range, i aim above enemies and throw the plasm right inn the middle of a bunch of bots...almost every time a hit, reaches most time to the viewing range.... only issue 8 shots.I also like to hot over obsticles and kill those mech bastards without sight 😀 always fun to see the red crosshair after hitting a hidden enemy 😀
You know what would be a fun buff to the Purifier? Leveling damage and the ability to hold a charge. Let me explain.
Imagine after the 1 second charge-up, the gun went through a couple of levels.
Hold for 1 second = 250 damage
Hold for 2 seconds = 500 damage
Hold for 3 seconds = 750 damage
(Each level also uses another round from the magazine, for balance)
Sounds kinda pointless to begin with. But then you pair it with the ability to hold a charge. Charge up a shot out of combat, store it, then when you need it, initiate combat with a 750 damage explosion with no wind up.
Think of it like Charge Shot from Samus. You have a charge ready to go, but you can still move freely. You could either have to hold the fire button (like Super Metroid) or have it store the shot with a blinking light (like Smash Bros)
Nothing game breaking, but an extra level of fun. (Hint, hint, balancing team)
Most of that “stagger” at 0:54 is not stagger, it’s the bugs auto-dodge from being hit by an AoE weapon, it’s why it only happens once per 3-4 seconds despite the weapon hitting every 2-3 seconds. They do the same from almost every other AoE in the game, hunters do it for all weapons which is why so many people hate shooting at them.
You can see it again at 3:04 with the prawn. Bugs side-hop when hit with certain attacks it’s also why they ragdoll oddly sometimes because the physics takes effect on the corpse which is “lighter” than the live unit.
It is a punisher plasma with less drop but a fraction of the fire rate. There is no reason to use it. At range there are better options and close in the punisher would be a better option in every case. Even that weapon is poor over all.

The main problems are miscommunication (we expected a Scorcher with Unsafe Mode, not this), Scope options (I mean it's supposed to be a Rifle) and, personally, I want a way to cancel a shot. When playing stealthily, there's not much worse than having to waste a shot into the environment and possibly alerting the enemy with it ...
Do you know if there is an option to cancel a charged up shot I've missed? I've tried switching weapons and Strategems menu and that doesn't work...

Given that devs admitted they were behind and things were dropping on a schedule. I'm assuming the purifier was meant to be exactly like the scorcher in semi auto. Light penetrating 200 damage per single shot BUT you have the option to charge the weapon and have a 250 damage medium penetration shot. Not confirmed but I can imagine that's how this will get buffed in the future.
I feel like the gun would be in a good place if it had better head shot damage and a variable scope, giving it an identity as the plasma sniper.
Don't worry guys, it can destroy spore spewers in 2.5 magazines (not shrieker nests tho). Truly, a hidden gem.

@@Mogz-hd I was being sarcastic to get across a certain point, but let me be more clear. It's 100% alright for you to like this weapon. I'm glad you do, because at least someone is. But this weapon has no reason to ever be taken over any other weapon, as it combines the drawbacks of the plasma punisher and scorcher without the strengths either has. It being able to kill chargers in ten shots underneath them is a nominal feature; you would be wasting your time doing that, and the only reason to ever do so is if you literally had no other means of killing it. Being able to destroy spore spewers is a gimmick that you would put on the packaging of a worthless product to pad out feature lists, like an MP3 player advertising its pause button as a feature.
If you were to ever want to take the purifier, just take the scorcher and enjoy having literally over 4x the fire rate for the same performance.

Unfortunately this a common issue in this game, many of the weapons just have the wrong sights for what is "supposed" to be used for...
I must be bad at the game then since I'm struggling at killing things with this thing.... I choose to support team by killing things outright, than simply providing crowd control and doing little damage, because more bad guys will keep spawning / approach the fight, stopping the team from completing objectives. Weapons like the Purifier doesn't provide me that, more power to those with the skill that can make it work though.
I see potential in it, i wanna love it but it needs some serious buffs first

1:50 from the looks of it, it might be my new nain for atomatons. The Punisher Plasma was good as a grenade launcher with both aoe and staggering edfects, but ive always been somewhat of a support/sniper. I always take my time to aim shot dor most damage so the charge raight isnt a problem for me.

I personally love this weapon, but most of what everyone says about it is true. Why use this when we have the Puni-Plasma, which essentially does a better job and no charge time? It says it's both explosive and "medium armor pen." but it certainly doesn't feel like it at all. Meanwhile, the Puni-plasma is simply explosive, but hits like a truck. The only true advantage the Purifier has is that it shoots completely straight, much like a sniper rifle. It's almost like The Purifier was made by someone who didn't know the Punisher Plasma already existed.

Why would you use this weapon? It’s literally just the scorcher but worse. You have to charge it up and even then, a basic terminid unit takes two headshots to kill. Devastators tank 6 shots, which is just laughable. Sure, the scorcher does less damage, but it does everything the purifier does, except its faster. As the final weapon of a paid warbond, absolute garbage

Honestly, i want to like it, but I don't think the stagger nor the damage on this weapon are good enough for D7+. Its cool that it takes ~4 shots to kill medium armor, but its actual TTK is just way too slow due to the charge time.
Also, something about this weapon just feels broken. The explosion vfx gets bigger the farther the away the projectile is (like the Plasma Pun), and it doesnt feel like the weapon has med pen at all. If you took the damage profile of the current Eruptor and gave it to this weapon, then we'd be cooking.

Just started using the Purifier right after i unlocked it. It has been underwhelming in most aspects but some of its traits like the stagger have kept it a foot above the grave. From what ive experienced, the Purifier is a weapon that relies heavily on the support strategems you choose, due to its lack of ability to dish out damage values like the scorcher and sickle.
Personally, i think that its a good thing that this weapin was released in an unintended state. Yes i still hate Alexus for advertising these weapons as S tier when theyre a C or B at best. But for those of us who have and are using the Purifier at its worst will get to know the weapon, and when the buff comes around, will be able to use it to ots maxiumum potential right out of the hellpod.
If the buff comes around, and if it does indeed deliever the Purifier to its indended state, maybe we'll see the helldivers whove used this at its worst run around like they all have semi-automatic pocket railguns.

i think what people fail to realize is that the devs are probably actively balancing these guns with an enemy faction we haven’t seen yet (illuminate) which would explain why some of these guns just feel like straight ass when using against bots or bugs, their niches are incomplete until we can test them against the 3rd enemy faction and then we can truly come to a formal conclusion on balancing, until then, it’s all speculation.

i think ppl suddenly forgot that trailers are very often dramatizations of the product.. most/all movie/tvshow trailers are.. weapon trailers in hd2 are no different. Just cos the trailer showed a 2 second slowmo clip of a strider dying in 1 hit.. uh, it didnt show the lead up to that battle so you cannot infer ANYTHING from that clip.

Honestly I found it terribly irritating when an ally has it. The push shove enemies so far and so suddenly I kept having to sharply adjust my aim whenever my Purifier ally tried to help.

Let's take the PLAS-101 and Eruptor for this case
The Eruptor wasn't a fan favorite just because it was good, it was because it was unique with its shrapnel and forced players to play TO the gun instead of the gun playing to THEM.
Then the devs, instead of balancing out the shrapnel so it can't one-shot chargers, completely removed it. Ruining what it was. not only making it unnecessarily weaker but also removing its identity and just turning it into another gun with an “explosive” passive.
The devs just outright fucking lied saying it was a good decision and saying these weapons shouldn't have so much collateral (despite the existence of the fucking Arc weapons)
Now for the PLAS-101 Purifier, this is like the Deagle secondary that came in the same Warbond and tried to do everything, playing TO the player, yes it's okay at just about everything, but it excels at nothing. Nothing that's not already done with the other plasma weapons
Slow and clunky crowd clearer? Nope, that's the Punisher Plasma.
Quick and sharp response CQC? Nope, that's the PLAS-1 Scorcher
Heavy and slow, elite unit destroyer/vehicle and building dismantled? Maybe, but the devs didn't want to go full-on. Scared it would make it OP, so they made it have an identity crisis.
I don't really like the charge up weapons in the game. I feel like a good alternative to this than charge up is if it acts like a single fire breach load energy weapon, where you change the plasma cartridge after each shot like the rail gun. Also this can kill a shredder tank shooting at the front plate armor of the turret, pretty surprised when I did it.
This would've been a good weapon if the punisher plasma or the pummeler didn't exist. Both weapons can fire faster than the purifier and both weapons has the same if not superior stagger because they can fire faster and sustain that stagger and can keep enemies away longer. This would be used more if it can 1 shot medium enemies with direct hit and a stagger that last longer with how slow it fires.

Only thing this weapon is good for is wasting hard earned medals. Stick with the scorcher or punisher plasma, they have better dps, aoe and general ease of use.
Purifier is just a higher skill floor weapon that has great potential when you meet those requirements. Scorcher was/is similar in that respect.
I actually love that they aren't brainless pewpew, and actually encourage the use of your secondary at times.

The thing how balance USUALLY work in games is a system of pros and cons when we compare two similar weapons
Lets compare it with Scorcher.
+ Splash is wider. Scorcher's splash deals max damage of 100 in 1 meter radius and falls off until it only deals stagger without damage at radius of 2 meters. Purifier deals full explosive damage of 150 in 2 meter radius. Fall off is at 3 meters radius.
+ Explosive damage is 150. Scorcher only deals 100.
And here we go
- Charge up mechanic not only makes rate of fire SIGNIFICANTLY worse than Scorcher's but also makes you press and hold button every shot possibly annoying player and making him miss shots
- Charge up strangely doesn't give you more damage or explosion radius. It's just a mandatory thing to make a shot
- Medium penetration is only explosion's trait. Projectile still can only penetrate light armor
Judging by that there are some solutions that can make Purifier good:
1) Charging increases damage/armor pen/splash radius but weapon can now be shot without charging (slightly slower than punisher plasma)
2) Charging is passive now. You shoot and weapon recharges by itself. Still needs increase in some of the stats
3) Make more charge levels that will consume more ammo and result in huge explosion area (something like what good old Eruptor could do on release, maybe even more powerful)

Ppl complaining about this gun clearly aren’t using it correctly. This isn’t an in your face pew pew shoot and kill instantly gun you need distance and space awareness when using it. The gun is decent. Like mentioned in this video, paired with jet pack and get that elevation. I also use light armor and scout perk. It’s a sniper build weapon that’s more like a support weapon. I use it to support my homies when they going in.
It's essentially that using it made me unable to use my primary weapon during a match. It was so bad at killing things that I had to pick up other hell-divers weapons to do anything. It is borderline worse than anything primary currently.

The purifier has no hit markers so I can’t tell when I’m doing damage
Hands down one of my favorite weapon designs, unfortunately it doesn’t do as well as its predecessors at hardly anything. The niche it fills is too specific imho. I don’t think the charge up time was necessary either, and was just AH being concerned it would be broken if it had a high fire rate due to its AoE on top of medium armor pen. AH could fix it easy by giving it new firing modes. Standard charge up mode that provides large AoE and a regular old pew pew mode that drops the AoE (or reduces it) and/or does less damage in exchange for a higher fire rate. This would put the weapon in a nice versatility over power niche. You exchange the raw power of other weapons for the ability to be more versatile in combat, able to go from crowd clearing to single target dps when necessary, instead of having to rely on sidearms and startagem weapons to fill those roles.
It's just a scorcher with a CHARGE UP TIME. Removing the charge up time just makes it a scorcher. I say keep the chargeup but give it either unlimited ammo or more of a punch.
It seems like this weapon just like the Tenderizer have been released in an early testing version and they will get buffed very soon. The devs even acknowledged that the Tenderizer's stats are not what they indented, in the patch notes known issues list.
Since the community has managed to fill every social media of the game with a ton of negativity, I assume the devs will buff things to appease them and they will buff the Purifier even it they didn't official acknowledge that it is lacking as a weapon.
Try the punisher plasma for a week. That thing shits all over this gun. Just learn to aim high and win.
The Punisher Plasma is also a little Mortar. In large areas you can kill Enemys in far by shoot in the sky and selfadjust the angle.
Its not even trigger the enemys most of the time. But ist not precise loike the Purifier on long range, and there has to be much more lead in because ofe the

I really want to love this weapon. I'm glad you're enjoying it but I can't seem to get a feel for it. I think it's on the verge on greatness but is being held short by the restrictive rate of fire. One change would make this S-tier. Allow it to be fired in Semi-Auto at reduced damage, and/or radius, and/or penetration. It would be incredible.
Purifyer breakpoints and punisher plasma are too similar in a sense, there's less reward in using purifier due to lack damage burst necessary to eliminate enemies quickly which the punisher plasma can dish out in a single mag in quick succession.
The issue with the gun is the speed of killing elite enemies is way slower than what the punisher plasma can do...
Though it has an advantage of having higher ammo per mag... the punisher can easily compensate with its quick paced shots and reload that doesn't gimp you into switching to a side arm to practically use it at close-mid range proximity.
[While sure it can't murder flying gun ships, but let's be honest... if your gonna bring a CC weapon, you want a gun that can fire continuously and still capable of delaying big threats that is already locked on to you.]
The purifier is most likely going get staggered or already too late to fire, with its aoe already in your face.

Huh, a positive video on this weapon. Honestly I think the main issues is the charge up time, which lets enemies get in close if you're not careful, and the lack of power compared to what was shown in the trailer. Granted, what was shown was it one shotting Scout Striders, which could easily have actually been two shots but cut to look like one, but before the War Bond came out they did buff the Strider's explosion resistance. It was in the big balance patch where the Liberator got buffed, which ended up making it as strong at the Tenderizer so when the Tenderizer came out it was "just a side grade."
haha i dont understand people watching trailers n thinking they represent the capability of the weapon in every clip. Trailers for movies are always a bunch of clips taken out of context for dramatic effect.. same goes for hd2 weapon trailers
@@Mogz-hd Yeah, same thing happened with the Thermite grenades. Was shown thrown at a Charger so people just assumed it would be good to use against them. Even after the DoT bug was fixed it ended up just okay. That said, it does raise the question of if the Striders used in the trailer had the explosion resistance buff from the patch or if they were weakened versions just for the trailer to make the weapon look better.

duno re: striders in trailer .. all i know is that i regularly two-shotted striders with the purifier. Its one of the best strider killers out there. Massive stagger. Only 2 shots. Sometimes 3. Ez mode.

been rocking it for a while, and much like the puni-plasma I do enjoy playing w/... both bound to be less popular due to the steep learning curve and not so obvious use cases...
still, from the get-go the purifier is kinda weak... it should 2-tap brood commanders and the crazy chain saw bots, needs a scope, and better full charge cue cuz is hard to tell when in 1st person (I know there's a sound cue, but occasionally is hard to hear it, specially during chaotic moments where you need the gun not to choke)

I like the idea of a charge up weapon. But it needs a little more damage. My idea would be to make it a multi stage charge up... like the railgun. Let me click it for fast low damage shots and charge up for a damage boost maybe 1-2 seconds for extra damage, so it can be used like the eruptor.
Don't you just love charge up primary weapons with relatively limited ammo that will kill you if you fire it in close range when you have 2 patrols of bugs that jump into melee range ?
Most weapons are useless due to the moron responsible for balance, treating it as a PvP and using the infamous "spread sheet" balance method , this is just a tad worse than most
You can snipe with the punisher plasma as well, you just have to get used to the parable of the bullet
