I unlocked the purifier, took out for a test in T3 mission, encountered a bot strider, shot it 5 times, it was still alive, quit the mission, unequip the purifier, never touch it again
@@Mogz-hd yea I was shocked, thought the gun is 100% bugged and not used it again. Plasma punisher is my favorite, such versatile weapon and can crowd control really well. Can lob rounds over cover too, with practice its just as accurate at long range as purifier
I like the concept of weapons like this with a lot of utility like stun locking. In practice tho, killing things quickly always seems like the best option.
Right, it’s great you can shoot that bug and make it be stunned, further away from you. But as soon as you stop shooting, it’s just coming right to you again 💀 And more of them keep coming. Pilestedt is correct. TTK is too long. Be that from Durable damage, armor, or from weapons themselves.
Honestly more impressed someone even LIKES this weapon lol Most of us used it on 3 bad guys and quit to toss out the airlock. Threw mine in the meridian black hole- hopefully the Illuminate bring it back with an upgrade lol
@@Copenboro I'm more impressed that someone likes it on bugs. I only like the weapon on bots, and that is only if the composition is mostly devastators with barely any chaff. The range and magazine size gives it a decent use case over the plasma punisher.
@@CopenboroThats because most people can't be bothered to learn about the game or why devs made certain weapons the way that they are. They just complain
TBH it's the highest-damage "AoE weapon" in the game now due to the ammo-load (and the 3 MASSIVE eruptor nerfs, AoE-falloff, ammo n shrapnel), it ONLY needs a RoF worth a damn, ideally via a recharge system rather than a charge-up one and from-hip sights that aren't terrible (it works for the arcgun only because that weapon auto-aims).
@@Soleprofit559 How the heck are you using up a whole clip to take out devastators? Even with just the splash damage off the chest armor, it is a 6 shot kill, more than enough to kill 2 devastators per mag, meanwhile the plasma punisher can only barely take out 2 devastators in 1 mag. If you hit the devastators in the gut, it is a 4 shot kill with the purifier. *The Purifier needs a Penetration buff to true medium pen, cause currently it has no more pen than the scorcher and plasma punisher; the projectile is light pen, only the explosion is medium pen* . It should also have its direct damage increased by around 50, so that it can 1 headshot devastators.
I play with the same 3 people for the most part and I love this gun. I think ypu have to know your team to maximize its use. I usually hang back a little and use it to cover my mates retreat or pesky patrols who tend to sneak up.
You could do that with the scorcher, the plasma shotgun, the JAR-5 the Diligence CS faster and better, that weapon is just hot thrash like 70% of the primaries so far... the issue is that why would you want to dig a hole with a spoon when you have a freaking excavator.
I've often thought that perhaps giving its AOE the ability to pull targets closer rather than push them away would be cool, and make it more unique when compared to the Punisher Plasma or the Scorcher. It would still need a slight damage boost, and a proper "medium armor pen.", but it could be used to set-up fire/gas stratagems a lot easier
I think the biggest problem was the trailer. They explained the weapon like it was a charge weapon that could infinitely charge. Instead we got a punisher plasma with better range and long charge up.
That’s nothing, they showed the crossbow being able to one shot striders AND fabricators without even hitting their vents, then the weapon comes out and it takes out striders in 2-3 shots and can’t even destroy fabs at all
If they had made this and the crossbow one handed weapons they would have given players more utility when used with the ballistic shield. A little more buffing doesn’t hurt, but utility goes a long way in this game
They hate us shield users evidently, shield is only good vs bots and the only primaries we have to use with it are trash vs bots. You need something that can kill the devastators quickly at range without getting 2 feet away and hitting their heads
@@BoneheadPlaysI can land the shots just fine with the defender (finally getting close to buying polar only at this moment so I don’t have the pummeler), I ain’t gonna tell you “lmao Skill Issue Kid, you’re shit” but the defender is pretty damn easy to hit shots with from range from my experience
@@bradychapman5645 Using the pummeler I stunlock the medium mechs before grenading them or using my support weapon to mow them down. Makes the chainsaws pretty wimpy. You can also stunlock devestators and then take out their eyes. The crossbow and purifier would just add more variety to the gameplay if they were one handed. They wouldn't be godlike, but it would certainly make their shortcomings feel less so
Damage buff, better scope (I.E. Diligence), and a quickfire option would make this a go to, its ment to be a marksman plasma, but the weak scope coupled with the low damage make this hard to pick over the other 2 plasma weapons.
@shilombaba Are you agreeing with me or not? Because my main complaints were that it sucks as a sniper. The Diligence or the Eruptor do scout sniper much better
@@givenchymamajama3859 There is also mag size. Purifier can kill 3 separate devastators per mag, while the pun plasma usually needs to reload to kill two separate devastators.
@@josephburchanowski4636 but the punisher plasma has better AOE dmg meaning you'll kill more unit in less ammo in most cases. (like a group of berserkers will be 10x easier to stun lock and kill with the punisher plasma)
I unlocked the purifier when it came out and never played it. Just picked it up a couple nights ago and I can't put it down. Super fun weapon that when used properly can really help a team out. I like the video.
Idk, don't want to be mean in any way, but it's either a good bait or a trolling attempt. If it's not - it's just some "I want to believe" type of video. Why do I even to comment on that? I just don't like even the slightest chance that this video may give devs some idea that they are doing good at balancing. Let's go by time stamps: 1:10 True thing, it's not a reliable weapon. Case closed 1:41 So apparently we are calling bad weapons niche now? Funny word? 1:54 It's plasma punisher with "charge up to shoot" mechanic. 2:50 Why do you need to "sustainably crowd control" when plasma punisher can just wipe this said crowd?? 3:47 Ammo? It litters every map. Aim? Absolutely not a problem for plasma punisher Distance? The only FAIR point here. 4:16 Scorcher can deal with crowds just because it deals enough damage. 4:35 comparison just send me into outer heaven, sorry. I'll bring you an analogy. Let's see... My weight is much lower than John Cena's! That means he's obese and absolutely fat!!! Also I can most likely overpower a cat! That means I'm hella strong😂😂🤣🤣 My take: Bad weapon. Design is good looking, but it must not be "pushed against all odds". It must be actively conveyed to devs that this gun is hot garbage. It's basically plasma punisher, but with charge up that does nothing except delaying the shots. If after charge up it's damage would become like 350 or 400 or higher - there would be a point in using it and talking about it. Right now it's, honestly, call it as you like, but it's just bad. Niche, not for all, not reliable, support... Nah. Just Bad. This simple. Sorry, didn't mean to offend you (but wanted to offend the gun)
I saw a guy taking out a Shrieker Nest from afar with the Purifier, about 200 meters. Basically, he aimed a bit upwards and fired the shots like it was a grenade launcher, and when the projectiles finally hit the Shrieker Nest, it made some big energy explosions that is apparently enough to destroy these nests like you were shooting an anti armor weapon. I remember it was about 3 shots as well. I know it was the Purifier based on the explosion I seen compared to this video, the Purifier has a much bigger energy explosion compared to the Scorcher.
This thing seems like it's supposed to have a similar role to eruptor but with more stun. If they roll back the shrapnel nerf on eruptor I'm not sure why' I'd want to run this.
It is my preferred weapon against bots. With how people claim it is the worst weapon in the game, I was honestly surprised that I liked the weapon and that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It still needs buffed (like having true medium pen, and having 30-50 more direct damage so it can one headshot devastators).
Why does it get you so annoyed he uses it and it works for him? Just curious. I have no skin in the game, I haven't even unlocked it. I think it looks like an interesting one that trades killing speed and power to whittling em down in groups while controlling them from not advancing. I can see how it's a pretty good thing in a few scenarios where so many enemies are coming right at you that you won't have time to kill em all before they reach you. Happens to me sometimes with the berserkers, as well as overall huge crowds. With this, you can just keep em grouped and at an arms length. Not sure if it'd be to my playstyle though.
I like this kind of video. You are giving the gun a try and master it. This weapon is very rewarding once you overcome the learning curve that it has. Most vids about weapons always measure them by how fast they can one-shot things and if you can solo with it. There is no consideration for combination and teamwork. In a team setting. If you run backline and position yourself well with your teammates and back them up with the crown control and snipe dangerous foes over head and from distance, your team will become untouchable. I sometimes run this weapon with spear, running up hills, cleaning fabricators, turrets, and stunlocking devastators for my team to do mission and / or clear other types of enemies. If I get overrun, I just smoke myself, cycle around my team for some extra shots from them if needed, and change hill to continue giving overhead control. You can be really creative with your load outs. Try things out, go wild, have fun!
I knew all this already. But let’s we be honest, that moment in your example when you used the air strike to finish the brood commanders and warriors. That is the moment you get every time you want to give this weapon a chance, every time you get that feeling of “I’m already wasting a lot of time here, let’s finish it” and proceed to use support or stratagems. That’s the main problem of this weapon, not quick enough doing it’s job.
when i saw that moment, ok he's coping so hard LMAO, watching the video not killing things fast enuf made me frustrated for some reason that's why i only play 2-3x missions a day to avoid getting stressed out
@@musclespy575 The weapon needs to not be false advertising. It says medium pen; but only the explosion is medium pen; the projectile is light pen. The damage profile is basically exactly the same as the plasma punisher. Give the weapon actually medium pen and 50 more direct damage and you'll 2 shot brood commander heads (compared to the current 5-6 shots it takes which is atrocious). 50 more damage would allow it to one shot headshot devastators which is what a marksman weapon should do.
yep, this weapon requires patience. It is not a high DPS weapon. not sure whats super hard to understand about that. Do all weapons need to be high DPS weapons? There is utility in a weapon outside of sheer DPS.
@@Mogz-hd What's super hard for them to understand is that DPS is the only thing they understand. And will outright *refuse* anything that's different.
I actually use a somewhat similar loadout now that the Purifier got buffed. Primary: Purifier Secondary: Senator (Revolver) Throwable: Thermite Grenade Armor: Medium, with Peak Phys perk Strategems: Orbital Precision Strike, Eagle Airstrike, Jump Pack, Quasar Cannon. Booster: Experimental Infusion This loadout works pretty well for me and I can hold off swarms of smaller enemies easily. Prefer fighting Terminids at 6 or higher but have had decent success against Automatons at difficulty 5-6 by substituting the Jump Pack with a Personal Shield. Lvl 65+ Viper Commando, might see me in random games dropping in to help get objectives done and make sure samples make it to extract.
Me wondering why he just doesn't use the explosive sniper to kill that pack in 2 shots, then realizing this is a space sci fi and we want to use unique weapons even if it makes us less effective. 😓
I like the feel of the weapon, but i deals too little dmg with a massive penalty in the form of low fire rate and charge time. I have played Warframe for a very long time and the Purifier reminds me of a really nice bow, that shoots explossive arrows that will definitely kill you, but compensates by having nice AoE and damge. Obviously WF is a very different game, where you get a lot of mobility, so the con of the bow is trivial, but in hd2 it needs to compensate. While you charge, the enemy can get in your face, enemies that take more than one shot, also get the chance to come too close to you. So the devs need to address the problem by either reducing massively the charge time or dramatically increase the dmg. I mean double dmg may soun crazy, but the weapon is counter balanced by its own mechanics already.
Need changes like: Infinite ammo like blitzer Auto fire. Just hold the button and weapon will charge and shoot non stop with same rate of fire. Maybe lower rate of fire a little to 200 to balance it. Energy weapon should be strong. Now it's and the bottom of warbond but in reality it's not worth the money.
given some thought the purifier would make for one hell of a support weapon quaso variant, i'd make it full-auto preferably duo/tri/quad-barrel (get med-pen on the projectile) and have a cooldown/overheat system. then simply swap in the GL in as a primary option, give the current primary purifier variant a semi-auto cooldown-trigger (shoot, wait for 0.5-1.5 second charge on next-shot, shoot again) instead of the current charge-up.
The GL does not belong anywhere near the primary weapon slot, anyone who says this is true is either on crack or applies overly reductive reasoning The PlasP is probably the closest replacement for the GL in the primary slot and even that has nowhere near the level of swarm clear that the GL has. Much smaller AoE damage (its like less than half) and slower fire rate means you can't sweep an entire infested area like you could with the GL.
Ive been trying the purifier also and i think i really like it. I did almost the same load out but i used the lazer guardian backback to take care of the little bugs that got too close. Eat and poison gas strike. Its been pretty fun on helldive difficulty.
Puni-scorch. More like Puny-scorch with that meager dps. Primary weapons may have different roles, but they should all be good at killing things. Purifier is bad at killing all types of targets. Stagger is nice, but its damage output is abysmal for a primary or a support weapon. It also just isn't fun to use. I love many sub-optimal weapons and strategems because they are fun. This one is simply aggravating.
I'm with you, This is an enjoying weapon! I agree with what you said about current stats, a decrease in charge time and a damage buff would be wonderful!
Thank you for the balanced perspective on this weapon. I much appreciate those who spend time with a weapon or even a set like the Plasma weapons to try and understand their differences and the individual purpose of each. 👍
and then he decided to use Eagle Stratagem cuz it taking way too long to kill brood commanders LMAO, don't want to be a b1tch but this video smells of a Cope than giving us info on how good the weapon is, watching his tests on the near end frustrates me even more on how slow the thing kills 5bugs, i could kill a charger with 1grenade stun + incendiary breaker on the butt whole magazine quickly, and that's the problem, they wanna balance things out instead pushed us to use META weapons cuz everything sux to use
@@whiteglint7694 duh, the problem is He's promoting it as "Not Bad" and i do want to be proven that its not bad cuz i really love the gun but just sux to use (for me) but he didn't gave any suggestion on where this gun is good at from the video, he insta used an eagle cuz it's taking too long to kill a fckin 1 patrol LOL
@@whiteglint7694He is kinda bitchy and narcissistic about it. "I master the purifier" like good job mate now you are almost half as useful as dude with scorcher who just unlocked it yesterday.
If you are looking for stagger game these guns do it better: Pummeler Blitz SG (totally annihilates medium armor also better crowd control) Punisher SG Slugger SG ARC gun stratagem
It's just the plasma punisher we have at home. It trades rate of fire for more ammo, less aggressive bullet drop, and a charge requirement that makes it a death sentence at close range. So use it against bots or not at all Personally I'm also good at range with it so it's literally just more ammo that 9/10 I simply don't need
I hope this weapon gets at the very least a better scope and its (missing) hitmarkers fixed, + hopefully a further stage of charge for extra damage like the original weapon description hinted at. I personally only use it for bots because I prefer the arc blitzer for bugs, and for bots I only use it cause unlike scorcher it stuns what I shoot and unlike punisher it doesn't run out of ammo very fast, + it's easier to use against them tiny flying ships than punisher
the purifier really could be great buuuuut... its in desperate need of some buffs. its 250 firerate (same as scorcher) feels more like 50(crossbows speed) due to the charge up time. i feel it either needs to have a much shorter charge time, or it should act like the sickle, charge for a moment and then a continuous(yet slower obviously) barrage of shots, kind of like a roman candle
I like the idea of the purifier as a weapon and as much as I would like to use it, it's just not viable in any high difficulty mission. And let me make it clear I don't use meta loadouts ever. This weapon needs a shorter charge and a buff that allows your charged shot to explode upon impact, the higher you charge the higher the damage. That would at least make it usable, the crowd control aspect you are talking about does not work when there are at least 2 other weapons that do the same thing but infinitely better such as the Blitzer and the Pummeler which was even released in the same warbond.
what would you classify as a high difficulty mission? i routinely use it on 7 and 8 difficulties. pummeler and blitzer are both short to medium range weapons. purifier has very good long range capability.
@@Mogz-hd Depends on the person really, for me hight difficulty is helldive. And the purifier is not good for that. The range of the purifier is only useful against bots because they are slow, and even there if you are looking for range the Diligence or the Scythe are vastly superior. Because both can headshot kill the bots quickly with the former requiring just one bullet and the later a 2-3 seconds constant fire. As for the bugs the purifier couldn't be more useless, you'll be lucky if you manage to kill 3 soldiers before they close the distance and swarm you, a problem you won't encounter with the Pummeler or Blitzer.
I've been using the purifier a lot and i've found that the vanquisher is a pretty good secondary to use. While the dps is not as high as the redeemer its 10 reserve mags means its always available as a reliable switch for smaller enemies like hunters and troopers.
Verdict is the real underrated weapon here. It's not a gun you take every time, but with some weapons it makes the perfect counterpart your kit is lacking. For a weapon like the Purifier, you need something that can whack a mole the stuff that gets too close, and has the ammo count to do it regularly, and it fits the bill.
Problem of purifier is the fact, that its designed around difficulty 6 or 7 at best, while players want weapons for diff 9, in which charge up is significant con for a relative weak weapon. It needs either a dmg buff, or complete rework
the dominator is not a.... primary? WHAT? lol i use it for everything, my support weapon is usually anti armor either EAT or quasar for bugs and either laser cannon or autocannon against bots. the dominator is 100% a primary lol
He means it as he uses his support like a "primary" and his primary like a "support". Like when people were using the Eruptor, and taking the Stalwart and using the Stalwart like its there primary weapon. Not in the literal sense
@@JacobKelley-vw1pw yeah I get that but the eruptor had a point to be used as a support, basically a autocannon but with slightly less penetration, and more splash damage. And it could close bug holes. The dominator can be used 100% as a primary once you get use to it
GL using the dominator against swarms of scavengers & hunters, and groups of troopers etc. I think thats a huge situation that most wana use their primaries for. and if you're rockin dominator, ul likely be pulling your pistol/grenades for those situations unless u got jackfrags level reactions & aim i guess, which uh.. i certainly do not! (for context: iv been a dominator main for most of my time in this game)
@@Mogz-hd I guess I'm one of those like jackfrags. But for bug breaches I call down an hmg emplacement. If it's not a bug breach then yeah I just rock the dominator
@@snap26neo so ur spending an entire round of the dominator on a single little scavenger? i always found that to be a massive waste of ammo with the dominator
I think a good way to "fix" this without making it the same as the eruptor or punisher plasma would be to give it a stun grenade effect instead of it's knockback. Much more utility while keeping its role in battle intact
I use the Blitzer for kind of a similar role of sustained group CC, but closer range. Often use the arc armor and stand under a Tesla tower for maximum horde stopping power
Wish they would've specialized each of the plasma weapons to different roles since they all have a mix of explosive and projectile damage. Would make each gun more unique and set up a theme for future plasma weapons. Punisher is unstable and the blobs it fires explode violently for a lot of dmg but the bulk of the dmg is the splash. Purifier is condensed so the projectile flies farther/faster and does a lot more direct dmg and pierces medium but has a small explosion. Scorcher is just a regular middle ground stable plasma weapon with neither strength or weakness of the others. Definitely too late to see a change like that but it just wouldve been cooler than just pick plasma gun 1, 2, or 3.
I did quite like it when I used it against bots. Stunning 4 devastators at the same time at up to 200m consistently is no joke. Personally I think the charge up time is what hurts it the most since the long charge up allows enemies to start to fire back before I get the stun on them. Definitely a weapon I only pick if I have atleast 1 premade mate.
This gun is the gun I bring when I don’t bring the arc thrower. I just have to remind myself I’m shooting plasmers and not lightning. I have fun and it does medium piercing without being powerful.
1:55 objection. it's not a sniper-rifle crossed with a grenade launcher, that was the eruptor at launch (diligence CS with a baby frag-grenade within). The Purifier is an upscaled Scorcher (100 damage plasma-ball light 2 pen) with the puni-plas (150 med1 pen AoE) explosion (rather than the 100 on the scorcher), with the sights & charge-mechanism of the arc-gun. it lacks the benefits off all 3 of those otherwise useful weapons. it lacks the snap-shot of the scorcher, the sustained AoE of the puni-plas and the auto-aim of the arcgun. hell it's not even a true med-pen weapon as only the xbow has less AoE pen than it (but the xbow does 270! med2 direct damage) So the xbow does in MORE a single direct hit BEFORE the (light2 150) AoE vs what the purifier does in total (and a 2/5 bias towards light2 pen). nothing will stop you liking things i'm guessing that maybe it's the the total ammo-load combined with the med-pen AoE potential that's drawn you in? 15*7*150 (15750) vs the puni-plas 8/9/150 (10800) is a LOT more overall boom and for context the GL SUPPORT weapon has 10500 total AoE damage in it's ammo (GL is a glorified primary that takes up a strat slot), eruptor sits down at 6650 now and scorcher 10500. Eruptor has well and truly been butchered beyond use. TBH it's not as "bad" as many make out (given enough time and but it does FEEL terrible to use.
I get what you’re saying but the eruptor explodes at a certain distance, not exactly a sniper. If it was it does a pretty shit job at the one thing a sniper is suppose to do: delivers a payload of a large caliber bullet across long distances. Mid range marksman rifle maybe.
My only slight pet peeve after watching 3/4 videos so far is that a lot of these builds are played on diff6/7. I wonder how well they would still hold in diff9 with spawn rates especially those of heavies being so different !
@@Mogz-hd no idea either it was not a jab i started about three weeks ago but im only playing on 9 most of the time and im wondering how well some of these build would hold !
I tend to play this weapon as overwatch, I've saved dozens of swarmed teammates by staggerlocking groups of threats. I pair it with the stationary heavy turret which can clear out bugbreaches alone if your a decent distance away.
Ya know this video is actually really good, i don't know if it will make me use it but like good points! I still think it needs a damage buff but the rest of the mechanics seem fine
It's interesting that you made this video before its buff. I still think it's underwhelming, but I think the buffs it got made it more practical for using the way you described: sustained CC. I will give it another shot, since I love the Plasma Punisher, but I don't think your argument that it has better effective range is right. I admit, this is a bit of a "skill issue" argument, but the arc of the Plasma Punisher can be used to your benefit, to hit enemies you can't see, from behind cover, etc. The ammo argument is a definite win, though: almost double the ammo of the Plasma Punisher for roughly similar stats at the cost of arc and fire rate? Gotta try it again.
@@Mogz-hd Well, it's a numbers thing my guy, numbers. When you have to shoot as much as you do to kill something, I can kill something more effectively with another weapon, faster. That is the objective truth. You want objective? Numbers. Numbers are objective. You had the same potential damage as the punisher, with a longer wind up time, with shittier splash. And damage. With better armor pen now. You can stick to your "gun" if you want but my guy if most everyone tells you something sucks MAYBE IT'S YOU TRYING TO BE SPECIAL.
There are guns that I really enjoy using, but when playing the game you usually want to play on higher difficulty to get more bang for buck and therefore want to use the higher tier weapons.
Another great fun loadout that i might give a try. Just for bugs The loadout i was running for just pure fun is light armor, pummeler, grenade pistol, stun grenades, flamethrower, shield generator pack, eagle airstrike and 500kg. The pummeler is to stun a bunch qickly(this stuns and kiills some of the weak enemies) and then i switch to my flamethrower and take out all the stunned enemies and others around. Stun grenades are to mostly stun charges because with yhe flamethrower if you focus the tight stream on one of his legs, preferably the front, it will literally die before the stun wears off. Eagle Air Strike is for more crowd control and 500kg is for Bile Titans. The only bad thing about this build is if you dont land your 500kgs perfectly on the bile titan you will have no way to kill the bile titan until you rearm and get another shot with the 500kg. Stun grenades are also greatly paired with the flamethrower to stun a group and take them out fast with the flamethrower. Last thing is the pummeler can take out charges fairly easy also . Just stun it and run behind him, shoot him in the butt and the pummeler will stun lock him as long as you continue to focus fire on the squishy butt part. Also this was all on Helldiver difficulty, so im sure its even better on the lower difficulties. It was a long comment but i figured i would share one of my fun loadouts i was running for a little bit.
8:23 that was painful to watch. A small group of light armor enemies pushed you to the edge of the map with this gun. I think these videos are silly because once they get buffed you'll love it and then this video will just prove that the weapon was indeed underpowered and unfun for most players. They give the purifier a good buff it'll probably be in the top 3 loadouts players bring at least until the next war bond
Not gonna give you hate, brother, you make it work for you and that's actually pretty great. One of the things I love about HD2 is that there IS so much variety to try. But man, I gotta tell ya, I've given the purifier a couple of runs and I just can't make it work. It needs a damage buff to make the charge time tolerable. It's basically a plasma marksman rifle, and should be one shotting mediums for the time it takes. But I like trying different load-outs to keep things fresh, so I'm now probably gonna give it yet another chance after watching you promote it, LOL. Good vid, maybe just turn the music volume down during the main body. Liked. For democracy, brother.
Well they did just now increase its armor pen and reduced the explosion fall off in the last patch. I didn’t try it since the buff but they said it should help with medium enemies so maybe its worth another test run. Anyway totally agree with you otherwise here 👍
to use the purifier effectively you simply equip the punisher plasma instead as that provides with you more support weapon options rather than a mob clearing support weapon instead making you a much more reliable support for your team instead of a mob clearer only.....if you're using the purifier in close to mid ranges anyways why not just bring the punisher instead
In your own "why is it good?" clips you would do better with the Plasma pun... And in your comparison the plasma pun also does more aoe damage at the edges of the explosion. The video quality is good. Calling the Eruptor a "support" weapon made sense before the nerf, not the Purifier, its clunky, low dps, weak burst compared to other burst weapons and it has a pretty model. Why not say you use it because its pretty? cos that it is.
Purifier is not that bad. When it came out I didn't really understand why people hate it so much. I mean I know why they don't like it but it's not that terrible at all. The damage output is not so much but the stagger it can cause with that range and mag capacity is massive. Maybe if they would keep the fire rate but remove the charging mechanism then this weapon was a great alternative of the scorcher. I use it often btw.
I love this game because the weapons work only when players use them properly. And I also believe that weapon doesn't need to be powerful to be fun. People always forget that you can use back pack, armor, secondary... to compensate the cons of the certain weapon. For and example: the flame thrower should go with medic armor, HMG could always benefit more from supply back pack, etc... Good video!
Purifier feels like straight downgrade from Plasma Punisher and doesnt bring anything valueable in exchange for dramatically lower ROF. By taking Purifier you are just make youself weaker by default.Maybe on lower difficulties it may pass unnoticed, but on helldive you'll just gona wish you'd take basic Liberator instead.
may i recommand the grenade pistol as a sideweapon ? Since you can use the laser cannon for the little mobs, the gp can give your the destruction potential you may need against some obstacle.
I tried it out quite a bit, and it's still okish against bots at diff7 and below when you are with a team. However, it's a big commitment to get it to work. More often than not, you are harming your overall effectiveness, taking equipment just to enable the weapon. It's a toxic relationship: she expects half your wage for a date and doesn't reciprocate. I agree that it has its own identity separate from the scorcher; however, it's a shame that the niche is already filled by the plasma punisher. Both have similar crowd control capacity, the same damage, so in the time that the purifier is done stunning the enemies, the punisher has stunned them and killed them in one go. The punisher's "lob" aiming also becomes accurate at long ranges with a little practice. Whereas, the purifier is left with a humble reflex scope, not very ideal for long range. If they just gave it a 50/100/200m scope with larger AoE, even with the same damage, I think it could eke out a niche of its own.
You just summed up the eruptor if it shot plasma rounds instead, charge up, and bolt action are pretty similar in duration. The difference is that eruptor can close fabricators and bug holes, and it's currently nerfed into a horrible state
Its weird weapon thx to the slow fire rate... if you want crowd control on terminids, you can take blitzer which have much more ammo than purifier... if you want to go that way, in case of punisher, less ammo yet it actually looks like punisher plasma have slightly bigger aoe and much faster fire rate (slightly larger aoe coz in case of killings bugs, most of the times you get more kills in mostly same groups of bugs per shot, could be my feeling and nothing else) . Problem is that it dont close bugholes which actually means you need as you said strategem for trash and problem is flamethrower as probably best weapon for trash needs something for hunters and this weapon with its slow firerate isnt it so its stal or mg43 and both of those are worse than flame... in this case i actually think purifier needs something else to add, like either a strategem or the ability to half charge shots or something. less dmg and aoe with much faster fire rate for faster enemy elimination. I tried to like the purifier, i really did, yet i only wanted to like it coz old times (reminds me of the railgun) and sadly with punisher and scorcher, this weapon is like sniper, yet lets be honest, if the eruptor get its shrapnel back, then we have eruptor which will be better than purifier thx to the almost same fire rate, much less ammo yet explosives (if it can oneshot the stalker at least and take care of spewers)...
I don't see the advantage of the purifier over the punisher plasma which does the same thing, with more splash damage and no charge up. Range I guess, but you could just use the AMR as your support weapon with the punisher plasma.
I also don't see the advantage especially playing on difficulty 8-9. But it's still very interesting, seeing the different play styles and keeping it fun
I think I shitted on your previous video about the purifier, but this video is making me see things differently. As a plasma shotgun user I find myself sometimes shooting slowly because of the movements of the enemies. Even though I think I mastered the arc when shooting, shooting straight like a scorcher wouldn't hurt.
thats exactly right - i think often we're reducing our shooting speed (cos tracking enemies) anyway, so the slow fire rate isnt a huge issue and np bruv.. most ppl shit on me for my prev purifier vid :D
I get what you are saying but i disagree on the conclusion. This gun was poorly designed. It achieve neither the dps required to deal with a swarm nor has the capabilities to lock in some important targets due to it's slow fire rate. It's slow fire rate also make it impractical to stun lock at long range due to the bullet travel time. You also don't really need to crowd control at long range anyway... The pummeler is leagues better at crowd control with much better dps and can easily be deployed and used at any range. The scorcher is better in term of dps in this category and can quickly deal with dangerous ennemies at long range. The punisher is actually the gun in between , having both the dps and crowd control where you actually need it. It also makes the the machinegun devastator completely helpless. The purifier loadout...if you have fun with it, good for you ! However , you need 3 stratagems to compensate the weaknesses of your primaries ? It's ridiculous ! Someone using a dominator +grenade pistol is ready to go and can face pretty much anything at medium range +spawner : you have a grenade and 4 stratagems free to build your loadout. Someone using a Counter sniper + Pistol+ stun grenade can easily play at long range and support their team and still have 4 stratagems. Your loadout forces you to have 1 laser canon (or machine gun) or else you can't deal with medium ennemies effectively + jetpack because you can't use your weapon otherwise. Which effectively leaves you only 2 stratagems ! It's too expensive compared to other primary weapons. It's no wonder nobody uses it , the weapon is simply not cost effective.
Rough sell for me. I recognize the utility of pushing enemies around and stunlocking them, but I hate it in the field. Takes like 4 direct hits to down a Devastator and you gotta chase them all over the place to get those hits, where a Dominator one taps to the head, or kills them in a quarter of the time just hammering the waist. The stagger on the dominator is actually useful, where the push on this thing is more of a nuisance. You can mag dump a tank or cannon vent and down it without having to carry a backup or worry about blowing yourself up close range. Purifier just has a lot of opportunity costs.
I love the purifier, but really cant find use cases for it when the plasma punisher just seems better in every situation but the longest of distances. And even then, once you get used to the arc you can hit some pretty long shots. Sure it doesn't have as much ammo, but with its larger effective blast radius, it doesn't really need it 😅
Bro coping with this gun so hard. In short, Purifier is the gun that super earth give to people who disable at the ability to aim properly with the Plasma Punisher.
i need to give it a go. I would propably change the laser cannon for a sentry and look for a support weapon in minor places of intrest. It seems everything except AMR would work well
The Punisher works like a mortar at open range. The range is quite long, although you have to learn to find the right angle. But then it is able to kill enemies. "Mortar mode" does not work well in rugged areas, and you need luck to lead shots right. Ingame i like take ammo backpack and stun greades to get time to kill inswarming bugs.
I consistently 2-shot striders and can easily clear fodder bots. The stun is fantastic when being rushed down by groups of those chainsaw bots. I will say, the purifier does feel incredibly weak against devastators and hulks though. However, when paired with the auto cannon, I find its not a bad primary.
@@DaaHela I'm a level 150, been playing this game 9 years, 600 hours IN mission... and I'm telling you it's good. Have you ever thought that if you don't like it, it might simply be that you're using it wrong ?
while I understand the idea for 'sustained' crowd control... the bigger problem I think is that the punisher plasma does a much better crowd control called KILLING them all dead. Sure, with the purifier you can keep a group or one enemy stunned... but with plasma punisher, they'd be either all dead or almost dead by the time the plasma punisher magazine is empty. And it'll kill them all in a fraction of the time a purifier would which is kinda important since since the enemies in the game don't exactly wait for you,
I *really* wanted to like this gun but the slow fire rate and god awful DPS felt so sluggish compared to anything else I had access to. I've enjoyed using the Blitzer in a crowd control role, but generally if I want to control a crowd I just... fire up the Scorcher, Stalwart, or even a Dominator and remove them from my line of sight. I don't know what this gun needs to truly feel good but it's just not in a great place right now.
So basically it's a Blitzer that mated with a Plasma punisher that sucks. Yup it's trash. I get why you're trying to defend it, being Devil's advocate and all but...yeah if it admittedly falls short as a primary then what's the point in bringing it along? I'd rather have the Punisher plasma or Blitzer than this hot mess of a Scorcher wannabe.
I really want to like the purifier because it's a super cool concept, but the correct way to use it is to use the plasma punisher instead and get good. The extra range isn't relevant when you shouldn't be alerting enemies that far away anyway and the punisher can hit behind cover.
first time coming back to HD2 content in months. i cannot BELIEVE that they nerfed the punisher plasma's ammo down to 64 from 96 lmao. is it really so strong now that it needed it's ammo cut by a third? when they released it everyone called it shit lol
This gun isn't underrated it's have you tried the punisher plasma? Purifier needs to have bigger splash and DMG to justify its existence you have to know that esp if you like it so much.
I dont get why some people are hating on you. Yes the gun is bad and likely bugged, but nothing wrong with explaining what it can do. That said, after seeing how the purifier WAS supposed to function (had different damage and penetration profile depending on charge time), i am more disappointed in AH for not having a proper QA team.

what? helldivers video?
Only thing the purifier needs is a damage buff, and a half second shorter charge time. It’s great right now for bots however.
Needs a longer scope buff
Agree with u all . Definitely needs damage buff . Take a whole clip to take out devastators which takes too long for 1 enemy

It would still need a slight damage boost, and a proper "medium armor pen.", but it could be used to set-up fire/gas stratagems a lot easier
i mean that's how it used to work on players, it would be neat if the plasma AoE's pulled things in while the chemical AoE's pushed things away.
Yea this is a pretty good idea but even so the AOE might be a bit small for that
I think the biggest problem was the trailer. They explained the weapon like it was a charge weapon that could infinitely charge. Instead we got a punisher plasma with better range and long charge up.
That’s nothing, they showed the crossbow being able to one shot striders AND fabricators without even hitting their vents, then the weapon comes out and it takes out striders in 2-3 shots and can’t even destroy fabs at all
@@BoneheadPlays where was that shown? I know that wasn’t in the trailer for the warbond.
@BoneheadPlays you idiot that was leaked gameplay
They wouldn't be godlike, but it would certainly make their shortcomings feel less so
Crossbow should be one handed, along with a lot of the energy weapons since they shouldn't really have any recoil at all.

Damage buff, better scope (I.E. Diligence), and a quickfire option would make this a go to, its ment to be a marksman plasma, but the weak scope coupled with the low damage make this hard to pick over the other 2 plasma weapons.
It fills a role, support sniper, period.
@shilombaba
Are you agreeing with me or not? Because my main complaints were that it sucks as a sniper. The Diligence or the Eruptor do scout sniper much better
so use it if you want the enemies to live longer? 🤣
Right‽ Dominator would have taken care of those bugs in less than half the time.
Yes, it needs to do its job quicker. More damage or quicker charge up. Bugs are dancing when getting shot with it
You use it if you want to suffer 😂
Punisher is better. In every way I can think off. The purifier seems like it was suppose to be an alt fire for the scorcher
If you use the purifier like a sniper it can outshine the pun plasma 👍🏽 that’s about it though

"Because I have a British accent and needs clicks."
aussie and i need clicks
Idk, don't want to be mean in any way, but it's either a good bait or a trolling attempt. If it's not - it's just some "I want to believe" type of video.
Why do I even to comment on that? I just don't like even the slightest chance that this video may give devs some idea that they are doing good at balancing.
Let's go by time stamps:
1:10 True thing, it's not a reliable weapon. Case closed
1:41 So apparently we are calling bad weapons niche now? Funny word?
1:54 It's plasma punisher with "charge up to shoot" mechanic.
2:50 Why do you need to "sustainably crowd control" when plasma punisher can just wipe this said crowd??
3:47 Ammo? It litters every map.
Aim? Absolutely not a problem for plasma punisher
Distance? The only FAIR point here.
4:16 Scorcher can deal with crowds just because it deals enough damage.
4:35 comparison just send me into outer heaven, sorry.
I'll bring you an analogy. Let's see... My weight is much lower than John Cena's! That means he's obese and absolutely fat!!! Also I can most likely overpower a cat! That means I'm hella strong😂😂🤣🤣
My take: Bad weapon.
It's amazing how much people need to bend over backwards to pretend Purifier is "good" and "has a niche".
Do use it with a stealth build ?
No bad guns, just bad helldivers
@@Coolness2001 nah there's definitely bad guns and D-riding helldivers fs
It needs a quicker charge up or a little bit more damage
when i saw that moment, ok he's coping so hard LMAO, watching the video not killing things fast enuf made me frustrated for some reason that's why i only play 2-3x missions a day to avoid getting stressed out
@@musclespy575 The weapon needs to not be false advertising.
Primary: Purifier
Secondary: Senator (Revolver)
Throwable: Thermite Grenade
Armor: Medium, with Peak Phys perk
Strategems: Orbital Precision Strike, Eagle Airstrike, Jump Pack, Quasar Cannon.
Booster: Experimental Infusion
This loadout works pretty well for me and I can hold off swarms of smaller enemies easily.
I need to unlock Polar Patriots. I have maximum medals and nothing to spend them on. I have everything in all the other war bounds
Might as well.
Takes about 16-20 hours to earn it back anyway.
Need changes like:
Infinite ammo like blitzer
Auto fire. Just hold the button and weapon will charge and shoot non stop with same rate of fire.
Maybe lower rate of fire a little to 200 to balance it.
Energy weapon should be strong.
Now it's and the bottom of warbond but in reality it's not worth the money.
if anything, i think that the chargeup could be a bit faster
given some thought the purifier would make for one hell of a support weapon quaso variant, i'd make it full-auto preferably duo/tri/quad-barrel (get med-pen on the projectile) and have a cooldown/overheat system.
then simply swap in the GL in as a primary option, give the current primary purifier variant a semi-auto cooldown-trigger (shoot, wait for 0.5-1.5 second charge on next-shot, shoot again) instead of the current charge-up.
The GL does not belong anywhere near the primary weapon slot, anyone who says this is true is either on crack or applies overly reductive reasoning
The PlasP is probably the closest replacement for the GL in the primary slot and even that has nowhere near the level of swarm clear that the GL has.
This one is simply aggravating.
yeh i enjoy using it so.. the fun part is subjective
and yeh as i said - its a crowd control weapon primarily. dps is moderate
I'm with you, This is an enjoying weapon! I agree with what you said about current stats, a decrease in charge time and a damage buff would be wonderful!

If you are looking for stagger game these guns do it better:
Pummeler
Blitz SG (totally annihilates medium armor also better crowd control)
Punisher SG
Slugger SG
ARC gun stratagem
slugger nerf removed most of its stagger fyi
It's just the plasma punisher we have at home. It trades rate of fire for more ammo, less aggressive bullet drop, and a charge requirement that makes it a death sentence at close range. So use it against bots or not at all
Personally I'm also good at range with it so it's literally just more ammo that 9/10 I simply don't need
As a fellow laser cannon enjoyer I really like the synergy with stun grenades for bots, makes letter boxing the hulks alot easier.
@@Mogz-hd
Depends on the person really, for me hight difficulty is helldive.
This is more of a long range weapon and since I usually find myself in mid range combat, I prefer using the plasma punisher or any shotgun
I think thats a huge situation that most wana use their primaries for. and if you're rockin dominator, ul likely be pulling your pistol/grenades for those situations
unless u got jackfrags level reactions & aim i guess, which uh.. i certainly do not!
If it charged in-between shots then I might give it another chance. I'll stick to my blitzer and Jar5 dominator.
From what I see, Punisher plasma does the same stuff this thing does, and does it better and faster.
I wonder how well they would still hold in diff9 with spawn rates especially those of heavies being so different !
i regularly use it on lvl 8 if thats worth anything. in a squad tho
Man the purifier was such a good gun they had to do several buffs to it. Such a hidden gem. Rolls eyes.
"Man the purifier was such a good gun "
agree
was and is babeh!
Well it might actually be good now, it certainly wasn't before. Usable and good are not the same things.
@@Earthboundmike disagree lol
i find it odd how some in this community think one particular opinion is the objective truth. Very odd stuff
Great video! You should add how many shots it takes to take out each enemy, so we can compare it better with the other weapons
ty
i did that in my previous vid abt it :)
Another great fun loadout that i might give a try.
Just for bugs
The loadout i was running for just pure fun is light armor, pummeler, grenade pistol, stun grenades, flamethrower, shield generator pack, eagle airstrike and 500kg.
Anyway totally agree with you otherwise here 👍
to use the purifier effectively you simply equip the punisher plasma instead as that provides with you more support weapon options rather than a mob clearing support weapon instead
making you a much more reliable support for your team instead of a mob clearer only.....if you're using the purifier in close to mid ranges anyways why not just bring the punisher instead
but why do you want to stun enemies when you can just.. you know, kill them, with other weapons?
reasons n stuff n things
This gun always seemed cool but i never pick it over the plas punisher, after this weeks buff I’m hype to give it another shot
What's the purifier I was using that sniper rifle With the airbrush Take out the big guys with it and finish off the little guys with the airbrush
Good video!
totally agree! Thank you
Purifier feels like straight downgrade from Plasma Punisher and doesnt bring anything valueable in exchange for dramatically lower ROF. By taking Purifier you are just make youself weaker by default.Maybe on lower difficulties it may pass unnoticed, but on helldive you'll just gona wish you'd take basic Liberator instead.
Yeah it needs additional functionality such as incendiary or so
Against Bots I would absolutely swap out EATs for Precision Strike. LC can take out everything the EATs can and the PS has a lot of utility.
may i recommand the grenade pistol as a sideweapon ?
I’d love some commentary on how the buffs changed the weapons and what stratagems you’d use with it now
its comin!
@@Mogz-hd Hell Yeah
I think I shitted on your previous video about the purifier, but this video is making me see things differently. As a plasma shotgun user I find myself sometimes shooting slowly because of the movements of the enemies. Even though I think I mastered the arc when shooting, shooting straight like a scorcher wouldn't hurt.
thats exactly right - i think often we're reducing our shooting speed (cos tracking enemies) anyway, so the slow fire rate isnt a huge issue
and np bruv.. most ppl shit on me for my prev purifier vid :D
Sure it doesn't have as much ammo, but with its larger effective blast radius, it doesn't really need it 😅
I'll say that it stun locks everything short of a hulk, but landing the shot is a minor issue as the projectile is paper thin small
Saying the purifier is good is like saying the spear lock on is great 😂
Wdym it‘s great - the Automatons
saying Purifier isn't good is skill issue related.
@@shilombaba its really not good lol 😂
@@DaaHela I'm a level 150, been playing this game 9 years, 600 hours IN mission... and I'm telling you it's good. Have you ever thought that if you don't like it, it might simply be that you're using it wrong ?
@shilombaba thanks for your service diver
while I understand the idea for 'sustained' crowd control...
the bigger problem I think is that the punisher plasma does a much better crowd control called KILLING them all dead.
Sure, with the purifier you can keep a group or one enemy stunned... but with plasma punisher, they'd be either all dead or almost dead by the time the plasma punisher magazine is empty.
And it'll kill them all in a fraction of the time a purifier would which is kinda important since since the enemies in the game don't exactly wait for you,
sure at close/medium range i agree. long range - nah puni-plas is too difficult to use to the point of being irrelevant imo
Idk wtf Arrowhead is thinking with these weapons. They need to get it together. Its been months already. No excuses anymore.
I would definitely swap in heavy MG over laser cannon for that build.
first time coming back to HD2 content in months.
i cannot BELIEVE that they nerfed the punisher plasma's ammo down to 64 from 96 lmao. is it really so strong now that it needed it's ammo cut by a third? when they released it everyone called it shit lol
This gun isn't underrated it's have you tried the punisher plasma? Purifier needs to have bigger splash and DMG to justify its existence you have to know that esp if you like it so much.
watch the vid homie. i compare the two weapons
No laser, stalwart or med mg or flamer. stalwart on bugs if very effective, espeshally vs impailers.
