Honestly, for me is best in slot as a solo against bots. Dominator has trouble against waves of troopers (without peak physique) and more importantly striders. Scorcher is good, but it doesn't stagger. Plasma punisher does it all, even if a bit more slowly. And allows you to shoot from cover. And -more importantly- trivializes troopers on those MG and cannon emplacements that hit like trucks on steroids.

Basically a replacement for the Slugger for me, minus the emphasis on precision. It knocks bigger bots around like crazy with the added bonus of splashing Strider pilots and clearing clumped groups of enemies easily, hits enemies hidden behind cover too and can handle heavier units if you're desperate. Does high damage too but it doesn't have the sluggish ergonomics and lack of ad clear the Dominator has. Generally a good pick for bugs too, has everything you'd want.

I used to main arc thrower against the bugs in helldive difficulty. I had a lot of 0 death missions with this build. My build is as follows:
    Light scout armor
Eruptor, redeemer (specifically just for dealing with stalkers that get too close), stuns
500kg or precision strike, EATs or commando, laser rover, and the arc thrower.
When they added the behemoths, this build became less viable. However, your main strategy is to run and gun. Eruptor is your best friend as your main strategy is to take out all the bug holes WITHOUT GOING INTO THE NEST. Going into the nest activates the bug holes to start spawning enemies.
Hunters are your priority no matter what, because the other enemies that will inevitably end up behind the hunters will be taken out by the chain lightning effect anyways. Use your redeemer on any hunters that get within jumping range.
Also Bonus tip: bile titans are the perfect pylons for your arc thrower. (Also, if a bile titan looks to be at low health, then take a few shots with your arc thrower, it may be enough to finish it off.)

    • @Creshex8
      @Creshex8 5 месяцев назад +7

@@DoctorWhoBlue High ammo? It has the worst ammo pool in the game. Even this video pushes a supply pack. The Hulk eyeball kill isn’t impressive since the AMR, HMG, LC, and AC can all kill Hulks by shooting the eye as well (and the multiple shots it may take can actually be finished quicker than one safe Railgun shot). And all need to expend a smaller amount of their ammo pool than the railgun to kill a Hulk. All of these other weapons can also kill Devastators and Berserkers very well too… yet they can also easily kill gunships, something the Railgun is terrible at.
Edit: by the way, the Railgun can kill Hulks with a safe shot through the eye, not a fully charged unsafe shot.

I've been having a lot of fun using the spear against bugs recently. My favorite loadout is as follows :
    - Light armor with Engineering kit
    - Incendiary Breaker, Grenade pistol and stun grenades
    - Spear, gatling sentry, AC sentry and Eagle airstrike
Basically you can support your whole team to help them dealing with bug breaches more efficiently using your sentries. You can delete any charger or Bile titan from afar and if you miss slightly, the AC sentry is here to finish them off in seconds. The eagle airstrike can do that too as well as dealing with hords when your sentries are on cooldown, or clear bug nests with ease.
If you pair that with a flamethrower and grenade launcher users in your team, you can pretty much deal with any situation. I've regularly used this loadout in Helldive, and it's the most consistant one to get me perfect missions with zero death most of the time, one death at worst.

Arc thrower main here. The arc thrower is a top-tier weapon against both small and medium bugs, capable of holding entire bug breaches on its own. I definitively cannot understand why so many people say "choose blitzer instead". The arc thrower dominates the battlefield. The blitzer is a fun weapon, but easily overwhelmed.
The arc thrower is weak against behemoth chargers or bile titans. Build your loadout to compensate for this weakness.
My best arc thrower build was medium (or even heavy) armor with explosion resistance (to counter bile spewers), 500kg + OPS + laser drone + eruptor. Lots of fun, very strong, good all-rounder build.
It is quite easy to get lost near a bug breach and realizes that all other players have advanced, though. And it needs trigger discipline such that you hold fire when teammates are in the 120 degree cone in front of you.

The arc thrower build I typically run is air strike, 500 kg, and laser buddy. The guaranteed stagger/kill against all bugs smaller than chargers is VERY nice, and the slow against chargers is quite effective. Against acid spewers, the stagger will nearly entirely prevent them from attacking. It’s important to remember when using the arc thrower that the damage is still localized, and you need to hit the same place in order to use it effectively, and it can even break armor.
I haven’t settled on which grenade to bring, but I believe that something like the normal breaker and the nade pistol cover the weaknesses of the arc thrower and work well with how the arc thrower is basically a primary weapon due to its infinite ammo. If you do run the arc thrower, use it against chargers and save your strats for biles and particularly threatening swarms. If you get used to main-gunning the arc thrower, you’ll severely lessen your supply consumption, especially if you run medic armor.

AMR struggles with Chargers and has a higher skill ceiling than most but I find it to be one of the best for everything below that, especially when you get really good at no scope shots. Broods, Stalkers, Guards and Spewers can all die in one hit and it performs even better in group dives when the medium sized bugs are in super high number on hell dives. Lets my team focus down whatever their loadouts are best suited for.
Far more maneuverable than the auto-cannon while being faster to reload, doesn't require you to stop to reload or take up a backpack slot.
Bring the Incendiary Breaker for fluff, grenade pistol for bug holes and your choice of nade (impact for me ). After that you can bring an extra stratagem, backpack/shields or support weapon to complement your loadout for a given mission. Recently I've been running commandos that I can unload right away into an OBJs and Chargers/Titans whenever its needed.

All those enemies the AMR smokes the GL also kills easily while having significant explosive damage and radius, making it also excellent for destroying massive bug groups. The GL is also arguably much better against Chargers than the AMR due to much higher damage and the ability to bounce grenades under the Chargers.

Arc Thrower is definitely underrated. The biggest mistake the user can make is not knowing when to bail, reposition and rely on other tank busting stratagems when the chargers/titans come out to play. Arc Thrower just annihilates both trash mobs and medium enemies so effortlessly once you are positioned well.
In my opinion, it pairs best with the personal shield & stun grenades so you get a chance to bail out if you get ambushed while you were focused elsewhere. Laser rover and jump pack are not bad choices either but none of them give you as good of a chance to escape like the shield does (since it prevents ragdolling or slowing)

I get what you're saying, the arc thrower is a good weapon but I class it as more of a primary than a support. The blitzer not needing charge up to fire makes it better at running backwards.
Blitzer, flamethrower, any pack you want, grenade pistol and whatever grenade you prefer (stuns for this build for me), precision strike and strafing run. If I'm using the car thrower I'd maybe swap the primary out for a dominator, pummeler, sickle or incendiary breaker until that new flamethrower primary comes out.

Blitzer + flamethrower + laser drone + 500kg + Orbital precision strike kills everything the bugs throw at you. On a bug breach, shoot the flames on the ground and keep knocking them back into the fire with the blitzers knockback\stun effect. Then you have basically 3 bombs for titans with 500kg and OPS which reloads fairly quickly. Only struggles a bit with armored spewers. They will take a little longer to kill unless you hit with grenades or grenade pistol. Also I love the blitzer stops mobs from rushing you and giving you some breathing room to evade attacks.

Pair it witth the blitzer for an effective 'get the fuck off me' weapon that also never needs reloading and the jump pack for getting away fast, and it's a very useful hit and run playstyle. It can also effectively deal with goob spewers too if you know how to dance around them.

Armor and grenades are flexible but i find myself using medic and stun grenades, thks absolutely melts everything but bial titans so yeah, use this and you WILL have the highest kills by the end. Great survivability too.

Swap gas strike for precision strike or napalm for 500kg and you can deal with some bile titans at least. Obviously the double DOT from gas and napalm is badass but you don't really need that if you're running flamethrower and blitzer anyway

The build I am using vs Bugs for months unchanged is:
    Sickle, Nade Pistol, Stun
    Light Armor with 6 nades
    Flame Thrower + Shield Backpack
    500kg + Napalm
This one works very well in every mission type, even with bile spewers (the shield backpack makes it decent to tank the acid).
I like to split from the team a lot to finish the missions faster and this build kills every possible enemy fast.
The one and only downside is not having the comfort of killing Spore Spewers and Shrieker Nests from distance, but it does not bother me anymore. I just rush these objectives and 500kg/Hellbomb them.

For my primary, despite of it being nerfed, I still use the eruptor for the niche of destroying bug holes and fabricators. I just started playing the game again after the recent update, so I don't know if I would go back to running as many as 3 different supply stratagems just to pair with the arc thrower, but maybe it could be one of the few methods to make it work?

the pocket cluster is much better against bots. It is the top tier for bot drop denial, because only light bots can call them in. Shoot a patrol or a point of interest, or even a light base just right, and there are no light bots left to call in reinforcements. But if you leave a medium bug alive, it can call in reinforcements just fine. Plus, with the longer range of bot fights, you can fire the the thing with less risk. And bot weakpoints can be hit with the airburst, it can kill turrets, tanks, and hulks (it isn't great against them, but it is solid if you can get behind them), but chargers and bile titans just don't care as much. I've heard it is possible to get enough of the explosions to hit their soft parts to kill them, but I haven't been able to pull it off. The airburst is also one of the better weapons for taking out bot fabricators from odd angles. Obviously the commando is king there, followed by the spear, but the airburst can hit the vents on a fabricator from behind and reasonably reliably land a sub-munition close enough to the vents to blow up the building. But against bug holes, it is surprisingly bad at taking out multiples, so with its long reload it isn't good for it, and with bugs jumping you all the time, it isn't reliably usable.

airburst is a good alternative to the ac for bots. kills tanks, kills chaff, kills turrets, kills hulks, it can blow up fabricators and airships. the only thing it struggles against is the side objectives like mortars and AA. and since its so good for crowd control, it lets you bring more stratagems for base destruction and single target. definitely not the best for bugs.

The Sickle has a high dps, and if you are willing to run it dry, has one of the highest sustained DPS of the AR style weapons. The only draw back is, it's only got 3 spare mags.
But with the HMG or grenade launcher, you're always popping resupplies anyway, so spray away and don't fear the reload!
It has a lot of horde clear, and you can quickly swap to the HMG for armored targets like hive guards or Stalkers, or Spewers.

I got the game right after the big railgun nerf and have been an arc thrower main ever since I got it. My most used build is 500KG, Eagle airstrike, arc thrower, and shield backpack. For weapons I use the sickle, grenade pistol, and stuns. This build is my go to bugs build. I play quick play a bunch and typically go by myself for side objectives and points of interest. Here's an arc-thrower loadout that I have slowly evolved since launch and frequently get top kills with.
Armor: FS-37 Ravager (light engineering kit/'grenadier' armor)
    Primary: Incen Breaker
    Secondary: Grenade Pistol
    Grenade: Stuns
    Stratagems:
    500kg
    Railcannon
    Shield Pack
    Arc-Thrower
You can do anything with this loadout. There is absolutely a barrier to entry with it, because as has been in the known issues section in all of the patch notes pretty much since launch, the bolts are inconsistent and misfire based on terrain, enemy corpses, your horoscope for that day, et cetera. If you can get a grasp on the insanity that goes into these misfires and develop and instinct to avoid them, you will shred.
The grenade armor makes it so I'm never wanting for stuns to use against behemoths. I employ the stun dive tech you talk about with the incen breaker. If things are ever too hectic for that, a good railcannon can kill the troublesome behemoth and lighten the load.
The only place where I don't take this loadout is the small map Eradicate missions. I take a flamethrower and B-08 armor to those. Everything else I keep the same. These loadouts are so good I get bored of the game using them. Looking forward to testing them on super helldive.

Personally, using Combos to kill BT's and other big enemies is a bad idea. The more steps to killing an enemy, the more parts where it can go wrong
Bug example: You get staggered by a hunter and miss your Recoilless/Quasar/Other AT weapon, meaning you either have to fall back on stratagems you were saving for something else or take the time to reload/wait for Quasar/get another EAT, overall taking more time to kill the Bile Titan
Bot example: You try to run under a Factory Strider to shoot the doors, but a Rocket Devastator snipes you from 150 meters away (complete BS). 2 things will either happen. 1. You live but the Strider is now alerted to you, and you have to take cover. 2. You can't get up in time to get to cover and you get shredded by the Gatlings.
On either front, time is key, and taking down a Heavy enemy with swiftness can mean life or death. One unlucky hunter could mean a bug breach with a hundred more hunters and even more Bile Titans. A stray rocket could mean the skies get covered in dropships and the only things you can see are lasers and metal.
Point is, combo'ing a Heavy enemy with multiple weapons/stratagems is more likely to fall apart and end in a worse situation.
If you can make it work and take down Bile Titans and Striders quickly, then by all means go for it. But I personally believe taking a single stratagem that can do hefty damage, if not outright one shot it is a much better decision than relying on a combo.
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

I'm definitely going to try that railgun build on bugs next time I'm there, but probably with the Sickle.
I've been using Medium padded armor a lot lately with non-machine guns on the bot front, and if you can get both the Stamina Booster San Vitality booster on the same team, it has both a ton of durability and a ton of mobility.
On the Quazar, one interesting build Is started running was what I call a 'force recon' build.
Medium Scout armor, Arc Blitzed, Grenade Pistol, Stun Grenades,
Quasar, 500kg bomb, Orbital Gatling, 380mm barrage.
You're role is more about finding things and taking care of problems like Shrieker or Stalker nest early. Mostly by using the scout passive to spot things on the mini map and dropping drive-by strats on them.
And here the Wisest works better than the other anti-armor because it is very mobile. You can go roam and take those snap-shots at Bile Titans without stopping to reload.
    It was fun.

Was pleasantly surprised at how effective and fun some of these weapons are that I haven’t used in ages. I respect the view on the airburst but personally, once you get the hang of being patient and picking your moments it’s great to just lob a rocket and delete 10-20 bugs, I run it with the eagle cluster often and run up huge kills. That being said, they absolutely need to give it a two stage reload you can cancel, there’s no reason for it not to and that reload time is blasphemous.

The only thing, that killing an arc thrower, is a bug with empty discharge. If AH fix this bug and make an arc to shoot reliably this will be enough.
Even right now I'm using an arc thrower against bugs almost in 100% of missions: unlimited ammo, deletion of 3-4 small bugs, reliable stun of medium bugs, 6 shots kill of simple charger. So to cover my weaknes against BT and beheemots I'm using 500 Kg, P-strike (if no scatter debuff) and commando. P-strike can be exchanged to Gatling barrage. As a primary I'm usualy taking crossbow or eraptor (for unlimited bughole deletion), senator and stun grenades or i-shotgun + grenade pistol. I'm experianced enough to not fry my teammates too often, so most of the time bugs are not a problem.
But no amount of expirience or skill can compensate 4-5 empty shots one after another. After such failure bugs simply overran you and this is gg.)

Bring orbital EMS, EMS sentry, stuns, 500 for titans (or OPS but 500kg gives 3) nade pistol and breaker incendiary. Toss ems on the breach take a step back and lob rockets as the bugs pile in one spot. Chargers die to the airburst very fast if you shoot near the bum too.
