I don't know if this is something you would be interested in looking into, but on that switch 2 video from beatemups. It says that it has 12,000 comments somehow...all positive... using the same type of vocabulary for most of them. If that isn't Wood using bots or other methods to pat himself on the back and hide criticism, I don't know what is.

I think people should be called out for lies and hypocrisy. yes bring gamers together but people should know what kind of people they support with views and ad money. I dont say cancel these people, but you should educate everyone of what is happening and let them decide if they want to keep supporting or not. same as you, just stop watching him after you've been educated on his style. but to just ignore the wrong of others, does not make you better.

Does this guy ever actually review tech?? I stumble upon this channel from time to time expecting gaming related news but lately all I see is episodes like this.
A few years ago, tech reviews was regular content on this channel. But you know, those don't bring in the $$$. I couldn't stand it. I stopped watching him a long time ago because litterally every single video the thumbnail and title were negative. I'd click on a video and be thinking "how could x have been bad?" and sometimes, the video wouldn't even be about something being bad, but he'd just title and thumbnail it like it was anyway! I cannot deal with that kind of energy. If I was mad or dissapointed by every single thing I would MISERABLE. I don't know how he does it.

Videos that come from guys like this are societies most miserable and cynical jakbags. His content isnt really all that original, he just copies everyone else's and the production quality is minimal and wants to ride off of everyone else's success. We call them: FAT AND LAZY. He leeched off the Boogie2988 incident, which was in poor taste, and copied James Rolfes (AVGN) Genesis vs SNES and even at the beginning said "I'm buddies with James Rolfe" essentially and then pulled the "they both win" stunt to be a tool leaving Rolfe the only one with the sack to be a man. Yeah, these are the sad, pathetic, miserable people of the world who make their lives miserable, blame everyone else, want free handouts, and bring down society.
Sadly, people don't make use of those thumbs down icons but if you're cutting into other content creators, like this, NOT CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, but just being a jagoff, then yeah, people need to utilize them and get the toxic content creators out of there

Both Karl and Muta received so much backlash from the first video from the The Completionist stans that they had to defend themselves with a second video each. Then there was The Completionist's response video where he threatened to sue, and Muta and Jobst's responses in kind.

People are overblowing how successful he is, he was successful in old youtube, but when greg left he failed to continue his growth because his videos became boring. In the last 2 months he got 1 million views on his new videos, that's nothing, the amount of views don't even match the amount of subscribers he has. (I didn't count his newest video, because that is out of the ordinary, it went viral because of the controversy, I did count the views on his video before that even though that practically was the video to comment on about the controversy, so the 1 million views he has would have been less should he not have been exposed) His channel is 11 years old, the majority of those subscribers are from dead accounts. I would argue less than 1/4 of his subs are still active accounts.

If you think the completionist channel is wholesome you should check the completionist subreddit and look at one of the admins, I think it's jirards brother jkkahlif or something and see how that person talks to the fanbase, it's absolutely toxic, and he was insulting the fans well before this controversy happened. I remember a small nitpick someone had about the show and he responded with an essay insulting the person.

A professional youtuber has an engaging persona for videos and wants to make money? It's almost like that's exactly what every successful youtuber does because most people can understand that scripted videos are not the same as a person's entire personality. Also I want to watch good videos and youtubers can't make/release them consistently if it's not supporting them as a job so...can't exactly complain that they do that. (in general, obviously not about fraud or promoting harmful things. but having a patreon or PO box is. Fine.)

Wood has openly admitted that he’s suffers from depression and anxiety, and is actually a quiet person in real life. He says his RUclips persona is just that. A persona. He puts out fake positive energy because he knows that’s what people want to see. With that said, I don’t know if that makes him a narcissist, but he definitely admits, and is open about, the fact that his RUclips persona is not real. He’s acting.
ETA: After reading through more comments, I have also noticed that Wood cycles through “friends” quickly. It does make me wonder about the kind of person he really is.
I suffer from depression, anxiety and have ADHD but I still put on a "happy face" for people so they don't call the psych ward on me.

Rich I like your channel but it’s kind of a weird thing to make a video about not liking someone’s viewpoint on the completionist. You can’t really back that up by saying you don’t like wood’s content. Sure the title doesn’t always show the product seen in the video accurately, but it’s not like throughout the whole video wood pretends that it’s a new Nintendo switch. He’s targeting an audience that would be a fan of that product and showing it to them. Yeah it’s clickbait, but you can’t use that to say he’s a bad person to compare a handheld to a switch since most other channels do the exact same thing. In what way is he narcissistic? Exactly. Wood also told him that using his photo at a vulnerable state was the issue. Depression is no joke. I don't watch Wood's content as much anymore because the positivity of his old videos I was drawn to isn't as present in his recent videos anymore, but this is just really tasteless.

He knows who he is. He's a person that uses other people and companies to propel his career and life. I've watched him from his start, with his game hunts in Australia, where he excluded his friends and always came out on top with their game hunts. He came to America and found a way to go on a couple of game hunts with The Game Chasers. Then he became a game ambassador for Nintendo, only to get rejected by them, when he showed a video about how to crack the Switch, to play ROMs on the console. He's somehow found a way to get back into their circle and continues to push Nintendo Switch game for them. And then there is his wife, which I get the feeling that he married her for US citizenship.

I used to love Wood Hawker reviews.... until he declared Xenoblade chronicles 2 bad WITHOUT even finishing the opening level, regardless of how you think a game is it's very unprofessional to not play it until the end before declaring it a bad or good game, he later did say that he considered it (at the time) in the top 10 of switch games stating that while not his cup of tea, he say the impact it had in the gaming community so that was nice, still, after that I saw him in a more critical light and realized he was not that good at reviewing or making content.

Rich i think your going a little too far, while disagree with him defensing Jirard but calling him a fraud because he has some clickbait videos that are obviously not real, feel like your getting back at the guy.
He is, because other youtubers took Wood's side when Rich created drama on Twitter when Wood didn't even mention him and thanked spawnwave.
Thinking the same thing. I’m pretty sure Wood’s tweet was referring more to the tax information that Jirard disproved rather than the money itself. Still it just feels like Rich is looking for an excuse to drag Wood into this rather responding to an actual comment. Wood never mentioned click baiting in his tweet and yet rich makes a whole video about that, which is kind of ironic
He defended Jirard because they were friends instead of just staying quiet or throwing him under the bus. How that is "fake"?
And yeah he was wrong to defend him, that was right when the news broke, so the waters were muddier and it wasn't clear what had happened. Since more info has come out Wood has changed his stance. 🤷

Compare Wood on his podcast to how he acts on his channel. Two different people - On his channel, he's soyfaced, goes with the general opinion and is shameless with his clickbait.
