Yeah this story broke my heart. I loved Jirald. He always came across as genuine and kind hearted. To learn that he took money for charity in his mom’s name and didn’t donate if was bad. His reaction was even worse.
Like, the dude just had to do the donation, instead he left the money to virtually rot away and lose its original value
I found him shady when they kicked off Jon from NormalBoots but kept defending Jared after his creepy behavior with his fans. Also de g4 fiasco and how he clearly was using his mother's passing to farm sympathy points.

@@NONE.Dragon The difference was Jon wouldn't stop being a jackass. Jared was innocent of what he was being accused of. Now him being on G4...Ya. That was a red flag, but even that could have been understandable. I mean, sure, it didn't have the same passion and wackiness the old channel had (and, let's be real here, the old G4 wasn't THAT great so that bar wasn't even that high) but I doubt anyone was expecting Frosk to nuke the whole thing practically singlehandedly. For all we know, Jirard was locked into a contract.
Not defending him, to be clear. Only saying he's only guilty of what he's guilty of. Let's not start painting him as some thinly veiled demon.
I always liked Jirad till all this happened, but he always came across as dramatic. Every few months there was a "We need to talk video" where he complained to his audience and things that we had no control over. That, and he was constantly playing with what "completionist" meant so that he could get reviews of bigger games in, without actually having to do all the work.
The people insisting Jirard did nothing wrong and then proceed to not show any evidence hurts my soul.

Every event he was actively saying they were funding partners for various charities which they never even gave a single thing to. His webpage lists various charity partners for open hand, also a lie since they never donated to any of them. So yes in a sense, the completionist committed an act of fraud by telling people he was donating when he never did until he was caught.
The fact that Jirard still has 1.5 million subs is wild. Dude commits charity fraud for 10 years and faces no consequences.
I mean to be fair I subscribe to a lot of channel but maybe just see two or 3 😂
As old as his RUclips account is most of his subs are likely abandoned accounts. He has 1.5 million subs and his vids were only pulling 200k views on average.

Jirard only lost about 140k subs since the scandal but after his response which has almost 1M views, his most recent videos don't go past 70k views (except a few mainstream titles getting 100k or 200k views) despite most of his videos doing 200k views easily beforehand, so its safe to say that unless people forgive and forget, his channel is over.
And a # of those views are just to read the comments and downvote the videos.
The like to dislike ratios have been insanely bad on all of his videos since his response too

I personally submitted complaints about the charity to the attorney general in California and got a response back that they're "aware of the situation" but could not elaborate. These things can take time but the gears should be in motion. California in particular was probably the worst state they could commit fraud in.

I haven’t watched a Completionist video ever since the situation. I have no interest in doing so either. Jirard broke trust with some many fellow RUclipsrs as well as fans. And honestly I don’t think him just continuing doing what he does best will help, because most of his fans can’t trust him anymore knowing that he scammed a lot of folks. And the fans who are still with him? I have a feeling they’re only staying because of boredom.

I think he just really messed up and Muta etc are just primed to assume it was malicious from past experiences with others. Doesn’t mean they were wrong about the technical facts unfortunately, and a lawsuit would already be filed by now
@@kazeryu4834 I don't believe Jirad acted with malicious intent either. When I did my own research regarding the situation, I learned about restricted donations, and I think that's what OHF was trying to save the money for, until Muta and Karl forced them to donate what they already had.
@@megamangman yeah I heard that, it definitely didn’t work out in his favor since inflation wrecked the value of the donation and the charity would have gotten more if he hadn’t tried that. From their explanation he didn’t need to worry about restrictions either if he picked the right charity. Basically he ran the organization like crap but I think it’s just massive incompetence since he never seemed to get anything. Still technically legal fraud but waaay different from like crypto nonsense.
You can’t even really say it was clout chasing because if he had given the money right away the only thing that would change is he wouldn’t be in trouble now.
