I've got a very large assortment of balsa wood that I've picked up over the years cause I used to do a lot of scratch building from plans that I got! Your videos make me want to do it again! I've just recently started flying again from a 20 year break and I used to just fly glow powered planes but I've started back with a few foamies that are electric and have converted some glow planes to electric stuff but I've still got a huge selection of gas and glow engines!
I am mesmerized by watching you work. I am a retired A&P and Inspector. I do intend on making a couple very detailed planes, but thanks for sharing some different medium of construction. I am a sponge. 🙂
Very good job, and nice movie. It's a good lesson for the pilots, who only knows to by and flight and ....crash. I have only two planes RTF all the others where made with plans.
I really enjoy the old days of building up my models, planking is and was very relaxing. I have several kits and plans for my retirement. My dream is to build an Avro Lancaster bomber 110 inch wingspan. But have to finish my P-40 first.
Man, nice work on everything... I use DAP fast n final skimmed over everything, and don't worry about the pin holes. It dries light as dust and sands smooth as glass before you cover. Just wonder if you've ever used the windex method of bending balsa sheets.
What do all of those little tacks do for you when you poke them into a strip of balsa? Is it helping to hold the shape of the strips against the formers?
Simply love the alternating use of CA and acrylic adhesive.
Cheers 👍

Very nice shaping and planking job on that fuselage. I love watching someone else do it LOL Nice job. Thanks for sharing it.
No problem glad you liked it!

They're holding the sides of the strips together while the glue dries.
Cool!!
Where can you find the pins you are using on your build?
Did you use 1/16” or 1/8” thick planking?
Where did you get the pins
Canopy came out really nice.
What did you use to cut your shapes? Guessing laser but which one.
Thanks. Yes a laser cutter, my friend cut it out for me with his cutter
Can this wood be used to make a full sized man sized ultralight aircraft
Yeh sure give it a try.
Sabih hafna il milled it tajeb u sena tajba min Ghawdex.
Merry Xmas
Can I ask, which kit is this? And where did you purchase it?
Hi there. It's my own design. If it flies well I may potentially sell a short kit for it
@@DanwRC83 I wouldn't mind having a smaller version, maybe 50% size kit to build as a static model. Keep me informed and I'll be watching.
If you are CA glue then why so many pins??
For the strips, I use aliphatic down the length. I only use ca to tack it in places
