Single vocalist, guy does both, clean and growl vocals.
This song is based on Kalevala, Finnish national book
And every fantasy nerd should know that Kalevala and Finnish language were source of inspiration for Tolkien.
Amongst Stars - Amorphis that has to be next🤘🤘
Old Skul Nerd reacting to a finnish metal band is always a must see moment. Thiese guys are legends. React next to their song Amongst Stars with the great Anneke Van Gierbergen
This album is unreasonably good. They toured with nightwish, which I can imagine was just a while night of epic
They're touring with them again - hopefully.
One of the best albums of 2018.
@@ChrisPage68 At least they are confirmed as special guest for Nightwish in Munich in december 2021.
Love those while nights
Great reaction again! Amorphis has massive balls for sure. Not many other bands have taken as much influence from Kalevala, our national book as they, And yeah, that album has been out for 3 years for now. And it is really worth to listen to.
THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING! NO FILLERS. EVERY SONG IS AWESOME! Great atmosphere on this one!
Message in the Amber, Golden Elk, Grain of Sand
there actually is a fantastic performance at Wakken 2018 (the long version with intro) of this song, and shows how good they are live
Phenomenal song!! Album is a banger as well.
You didn’t know Amorphis ? Lucky guy, some more to discover. They make the best bonus tracks ever. All their albums are just great.
They really do sometimes save their best songs as Bonus tracks. It's hilarious! :D
Amorphis ❤💯
Amorphis - Death Of A King. Another killer chorus. 🔥🤘👑⚰️💀
It took maybe 60 seconds in for me to order the album... :)
Their singer Tomi does both vocals and it’s awesome. Gets some deep emotional reaction going for me which nothing else really does. SO GOOD! Death of a King would be a cool one for you to do next for more!
So nice to see reactions on Amorphis, not many on RUclips. Been listing to these guys since the 90's I just love them, never a disappointment. I am so glad I got to see them live, was just perfect and hope to see them again in concert. Thank you for the reaction, and Thank you Joonas for the request, love this band.
I've known Amorphis since 1999. I got Tuonela on CD, loved it, and it's also a lyric in this song.
Love this band! Great melodies!
You should definitely check out more of their songs, like "Alone", "My Kantele", “Goddess (of the Sad Man)”, "Divinity"
Bee as about education. Knowlege goes beyond time and space. It makes you powerful. Epic story to make children to school to learn things....
I first heard Amorphis back with the song Alone, I think it I had it on repeat for 3 months.
Fun fact: the female voice in the beginning and and in different parts of the songs is Noa Gruman- the lead singer of Scardust, a band which you recently roasted. She conducts an accapella group choir called Hellscore which are featured in few songs in this Amorphis album.
you can check them out- Nightwish - A Cappella medley | by Hellscore
A couple great bands I listened to in '99 along with Amorphis were Blind Guardian and Iced Earth.
I'd love to see your reaction to "Blind Guardian - Lord of the Rings"
I literally got into Iced Earth because I saw some cool album art on their CD Something Wicked This Way Comes - done by Todd McFarlane (Spawn artist), check out "Iced Earth - Stand Alone".
One of the best songs on this planet!
I hate screaming and this song is beautiful!
Honestly it depends on the style of screaming. I like the lower growls and not really the higher ones that sound like it's hurting the throat. Like in Amorphis' Amongst Stars Tomi singing "rise" and the beginning of Perkele (The God of Fire) is just screaming.
@@AnqaOdyssey Perkele is definitely not for me. There's more than just the screaming that hurts my ears there :)
I guess I do also accept screaming as a contrast to clear vocals in moderation. Amaranthe does that quite well too (altho there's also a lot I don't like about them).
This band is immensely good. You need to hear "Death of a King"! 🤘❤
It's kinda easy being ballsy when you're Amorphis!
now there's a surprise! Joonas actually knows good music as well! :P Just Kidding.
I've been following this band for many many moons (from when they were straight up death metal in fact). And they are awesome. You can do any of their songs, don't think you'll miss with any song, But here's a few highlights Amongst Stars (feut Anneke van Giersbergen), Death of a king, My Kantele & House of sleep.
PS I thought the guy on the far right looked like Hawkeye from the Avengers aka Jeremy Renner
Good pick dude. Love the intro to this one.
Its not thors axe, its Ukon vasara. (Ukkos hammer) Ukko is overgod or supremegod of sky.
Due to COVID-19 the vocalist Tomi Joutsen works now as a social worker in a company that sells it's services to the municipalities. I just read his new interview about that today.
Amorphis lyrics often refer to Kalevala, the national epic of Finland. The mother of Lemminkäinen gathers the pieces of her deceased son from the river of Tuonela, puts him back together. And then the bee from heaven comes and brings life back to Lemminkäinen. I'm no expert on Kalevala but I think that's the story, one of many in Kalevala. There is a classic painting about that story, "Lemminkäisen äiti", The mother of Lemminkäinen, by Akseli Gallen-Kallela. I hope I remember the name of the painting right.
Esa Holopainen, the guitarist songwriter, just released his solo album. (No relation to Tuomas Holopainen.)
The Swedish band Therion released an album a few months ago. The second song "Tuonela" features Marko Hietala on vocals.
I saw all 3 Amorphis 30th Anniversary gigs in Helsinki, Tavastia Club, consecutive nights mid October 2020. Songs from one particular decade was covered each night. Two identical gigs each night. They are amazing live. The Bee ended the 1st concert. Before that was "Death of a King".
The album is from 18th May 2018😂
"Looks like Lars" with talent. Dude that comment almost made piss my pants! 😂😂😂❤
Liked before wathing! 🤘
Next time you see Tarja with hillbillies, do not worry. They have hivemind and they are in the multiverse savespace. It is the Bee thing.
The album came out almost 3 years ago so...
That was rather good. I like it.
OSN - Lovebites did the promotion of Awakening From Abyss in the video for Shadowmaker.
You haven’t done my request yet. And I was an early subscriber bro
Which one?
@@OldSkuleNerd Epica consign to oblivion live in Paris. You’ll dig it I promise
Soooo?
This entire album is absolutelly masterpiece! Not a single song come down the line wich is very high. I suggest the video they have made for the song Among Stars with Aneke Von Giersbergen wich is one of my fave.
12:00 soilwork does it in "Long Live the Misanthrope" and it's one of the best melo-death albums out there (fight me)
I love the diss at Lars at the end. He's like everyone's favorite dead horse, but not without reason.
If you liked this, give Black Crown Initiate - Trauma Bonds a try. Or something a little older like Belie the Machine, or The Great Mistake. All three show off Andy's clean / harmonized vocals, imo.
I love this guy's clean and harsh vocals equally. Also this song is honey🍯 sweet, but that was not supposed to bee🐝 a joke 😂!! By the way did you know that Tomi Joutsen (Amorphis) and Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast) have sung one song together on the Battle Beast album -> Battle Beast - Lost in Wars feat. Tomi Joutsen. I wonder who is doing that Mongolian throat singing 12:48 (it doesn't sound like synth sound or Australian ? By the way I posted a link to this video to Lars Ulrich and told him to check that end of this video. He didn't sound unnecessarily happy😂.
DESERTED FEAR - Forging Delusions (Festival Footage 2015) thow back Thursday
I'm sorry but Finland isn't scandinavian country,it is nordic country, sweden, norway,Denmark is scandik countrys.😍but whatever potato, poteito, truth is, we are all a one and live same planet.
Seems like you haven't heard of Opeth and the genius of Mikael Akerfeld. You can start with "Ghost of Perdition (live red rocks)".
Imangine - bees build their home to your skull, YIKES! Hope I'm totally gone then... 'cause they won't propably knock,LOL
If you could react amorphis, against widows and my kantele
Damn i dont remember seeing this reaction, to much wine or mjöd.
If you like this kind of thing, you need to check out other melodic death metal and folk metal bands.
It's may 2018
Ya know this band has only one vocalist
Please react to Avatar, Hail the apocalypse, Statue of the King, or A secret door. heck any Avatar song
Was it me or did this have a heavy Tool feel to them? Enjoyed this - nice one Joonas!
Tool may have Amorphis feel in them.
Can you react to “fuck with me” by Nick Nittoli next plz !!??
first time here, great reaction to a really realy great awesome song, some suggestions ,meshuggah, anathema, opeth, later lacuna coil, after forever, epica, this list can go on on , keep up the good work
