this song tell's a story from Kalevala "Finnish epic", one of the main character's is dead and his mother travels to the river of the dead to rake limbs of his son to sew him together and pray, then the bee comes and summons other to make honey flow once more.
Amorphis has a huge catalog of great music. My personal favorite is Sampo, but there's also Silver Bride, Amongst Stars, The Smoke, Wrong Direction, The Way, Sacrifice, Silent Waters, Black Winter Day...well, too many to list :). There's lots more to explore from this band.
Interesting that you picked all the single tracks that I would personally pretty much sack from the setlist and put more the heavier stuff there :P While said that The Bee is one of my absolute favorites and that song really got me into Amorphis. I had known that band a long time and a few songs here and there but it didn't quite make it to me. The whole Queen of Time is a masterpiece. Daughter of Hate, Heart of a Giant, We Accursed... Then I got more known to Under the Red Cloud and damn that is a great album too.
@@mikkolaine4883 I picked the singles and most melodic because this is a reaction channel, and songs like that tend to be better received. Then they can deep dive into the rest of the albums. I've been a fan of Amorphis since Privilege Of Evil and have watched them grow and evolve over the years. Seen them in concert twice and met the band. They are a super nice bunch of guys. Sampo is still my favorite, though. It was on their setlist at the first concert I saw. I was surprised a bit, as it isn't really one of their more popular tracks.
@@hershadowdomain5603 I'm totally opposite and I really don't appreciate the single culture but rather full album point of view. Like I don't like to hear "easy digest" stuff even I like simple songs too but I want them to be real. Very often the single picks are not that discribing what music really is. I like to show what the bands really are. On the reaction point of you that gives usually better resctions too 😁
@@mikkolaine4883 I agree with you regarding listening to albums as a whole. It does give you a better insight into who the band actually is. I never said I prefer the singles. I just suggested them for reactions :). Honestly, though, Amorphis doesn't really have simple songs. I'm speaking of lyrical content, not necessarily musical composition. I like finding the sections of the Kalevala that the song is about (when applicable) and reading it to better understand the song. I don't know where you're from, but I'm from the US and didn't even know about the Kalevala until Amorphis and Tales from the Thousand Lakes, :)
@@hershadowdomain5603 I'm always glad when European metal finds US people 🤘 I have the priviledge to be a Finn with all these great bands besides all the other perks like nature and space here. By the way the phrase "Land of the thousand lakes" is quite missleading: there are 187888 of them 😁 Kalevala is pretty interesting and I just learned maybe two years ago visiting a viking museum in Rosala island that Kalevala folklore has many same characters and things as the Scandinavian mythology. I noticed the English discription of the target speakind Odin etc and then looking at the Finnish version speaking the familiar names for me. I didn't know they are connected. Well it makes sense afterall. Kalevala has huge meaning in Finnish language coz that is the first ever written text in actual Finnish so we can say that Kalevala and the author Elias Lönnrot created literal Finnish language.
Funny enough, today i saw my mother wearing an amorphis t shirt while at home, from when i was a teen . it is a t shirt that has more than 25 years, from elegy, so you can imagine how she looked.
In finnish folklore bee is lifebringer. And river Tuoni (Tuonela) is place where people are after death. I really hope you could react to Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars live rehearsal at Sonic Pump Studios remastered. Please and peace 🙏🏼😎✌🏼
Finland has most metal bands per capita in the world, so the bar is set very high. For quite some time pretty much every teenage boy who picked a guitar started with metal classics.
Great song from a very melodic band. Have you reacted to Wintersun yet? Best band out of Finland. Check out Wintersun - Sons Of Winter And Stars (TIME I Live Rehearsals At Sonic Pump Studios)
While I'm quite confident that being compared to Max Cavalera would make the lead singer Tomi Joutsen very happy, in my honest opinion Joutsen is a better singer. He can do the most brutal growls but sing very well clean also. A beast. This is a great piece from a great band. Good choice. (edit) want some more of the finnish metal? Try Finntroll. The classic choice would be Trollhammaren but I'm gonna suggest something a little fresher, song called Mask.
If you like this check out another finish band called Insomnium and the album Heart likea grave or the album Shadows of a dying sun. Also you could check out swedish band In Mourning and the album The weight of oceans :D
Excellent song. For some similar European melodiousness, Teitanblood's 'Sleeping Throats of the Antichrist'. Spanish band, and Spanish metal don't get a huge amount of exposure. Nice and relaxing. Good god Spanish metal does not fuck about... Or some Proclamation. Another great Spanish band Greetings from the UK! Ooh, for some intense Finnish metal :Concrete Winds. Absolutely savage. Track 5 off their album features the hardest disco beat ever pressed to wax.
Awesome! I often check for new Amorphis reactions and boom, one of my favorite songs of theirs by one of my favorite music reactors! Win/win!
I also watch every reaction of Amorphis 👍 love them! Too bad not many reactors are listening them..
It's their best song in a long while. Although they are consistently good
Amorphis is so insane. Queen of time is very catchy album.
Black winter day is a must hear classic by them, cob covered it on 'I worship chaos'.
