I believe this is in regards to spreading and receiving the gospel, some hear and immediately dismiss it and so don't get saved by grace, some hear and are happy but don't understand what to do after and so their faith may die out but they will still be saved if they put faith in Jesus, some hear get saved and know what to do to strengthen their faith but end up choking up because of desires of the flesh, and some hear get saved and are able to make their faith flourish and inturn tell others about the gospel and as such bare fruit/crops and or works
