- The Parable of the Sower, or sometimes known as the Parable of the Four Soils, is the first major parable Jesus Christ taught during his ministry. Recorded in three of the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke, it has become a widely known story in the Bible. But for the modern-day reader who might not be familiar with ancient agriculture in Israel, some of the meanings might get lost. This video explains the Parable of the Sower against the backdrop of 1st-century Jewish farming practices.

I am all those types of soil every day, I wake up dry, thorny, grumpy, then I have to fight with all those hungry birds of my own will, laziness, comfort sicker, then I run fast to pray to Jesus to give me anew love for Him, reconnect with Him and soften my rebelios personality with His patience, love and care for every one, even for my mother in law. It's incredible what God can do!

Hi Cornelia, I think we all do this in our walk with Jesus. There's one thing I have figured out about myself... I am a frustratingly slow learner, but God is patient and faithful again and again in the times I fail Him. I am so thankful for His love and forgiveness! God bless you!
That's not what it means. The parable is about salvation. Being saved or lost. Some hear the gospel and reject it. Some hear the gospel and believe for a period then walk away from faith. Others hear the gospel and are born again and saved.
A most challenging question at the end. This producer knows how to combine stunning visuals, music, and carefully chosen words to bring nourishment and change to his audience unparalleled by any other RUclips I watch. As a subscriber to both this channel and the Savior that I humbly worship, when a new video is announced, I rejoice. And...rewatching is always joyous. Jeremiah 29:11. I just want to encourage anyone reading this with this scripture. It may seem that things are not working out and that everything is going downhill but trust the Lord. He has a plan for your future and a plan to prosper you and give you a hope. And at just the right time he will bring it to fruition. Trust our loving father. God bless you big!
That's not for everyone. How many people have trusted God and the next day they are in an accident and their kids and spouse killed ... doesn't sound like thoughts of peace to me and I know lots of believers who put stock in this bogus verse only to have their lives ripped up to shreds.

The true meaning of the parable of the sower is this: when anyone hears the message regarding the Kingdom and does not understand it - the evil one (the selfhood) snatches away what was sown in his heart; this is what was sown along the path.
As for what was sown on rocky ground - this is he who hears the message and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself - but endures for a while - and when tribulation or persecutions come on account of the message - immediately he falls away.
As for what was sown among thorns - this is he who hears the message - but the cares of the world and the delight in riches - choke the message and it bears no fruit.
As for what was sown on good soil - this is he who hears and receives the message and understands it; he indeed bears fruit - and yields - in one case a hundredfold - in another - sixty - and another thirty fold.

Matthew 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
Matthew 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
Matthew 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
Matthew 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
Matthew 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
_Jesus sown the good seed. Right after the enemy came and sown the tares among the good seed._
_Good seed = the four Gospels; Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John._
_The tares were sown then after._
_Everyone knows Jesus came and sown the good seed. And everyone knows who came right after Jesus and sown much seed intermingled with what Jesus had sown._
_Many people (instead of following what Jesus had sown) insist upon following that which was sown after Jesus._
_But Jesus said to follow him._
John 10:27 *My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:*
John 10:28 *And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.*

_It seems nearly everybody has been indoctrinated to overlook just who it is that did not continue with the disciples._

Acts 9:26 *And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples:* but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.
Acts 9:27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
Acts 9:28 And *he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.*
_Paul made two attempts to join himself with Jesus' disciples._
_First attempt in Acts 9:26 _*_And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple._*
_Then in Acts 9:27 Barnabas took Paul and brought him to the apostles for a second attempt._
_During the second attempt Paul was indeed with them he had traveled with them: _*_he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem._*
_But why was Paul traveling with them? Because of Acts 9:26 he was trying to join himself to the disciples._
_Yet even though everybody knows Paul (the 13th apostle) did not continue with Jesus' disciples, they're just indoctrinated to overlook it._
Such a great way of explaining it. I never heard anyone say how God helps us fight against the thorns and birds, which is him helping us fight our sin that can actually make us fall away. Thank you for that awesome word!
(Ephesians 2:2) This scripture revers to satan as the prince and power of the air…
It really does make sense that the birds of the air are symbolic of the evil one that devours the seed sown along the path.

The Sower of seeds the infite wisdom of divine blessings. I often think of those parables in times that make me appreciate life's challenges in this world and the next, are we not in awe that the story of Yashua survives over 2000 years thru out history, culture, a story that bears more fruit, more blessings and has fed the faith of hundreds of millions even billions of hungry souls thru the WORD of YAHUAH. Name any man in history in any field whose story and memory survive the same, the Sermon on the Hill has shared the same the baskets of spiritual understanding were not just loaves and bread to feed the appetite of those he taught, thru faith his teachings and examples, his life was full of divine messages, the Word of God.
I bind one not to give up to hold on to God and his promises for one's life in my life, the lives of my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances, opponents and the body of Christ while binding to hell every unbelief, prioritizing worldly things or giving up, binding to hell being unequally yoked and having any common share with those in unbelief, prioritizing worldly things or giving up, in accordnace with this word and luke 8:15, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!

I get it now! I had 2 fruitful years. I preserved and canned, but I didn’t fulfill his word or observe the sabbath! The 4th commandment says observe the sabbath and keep it holy. I I understand now.

Heard this at Bible study. Got me thinking about my life and who I want to be.
Word of God us our food of our spirit and life
This has always been a message of being fruitful in the salvation you are given. I have seen others teach this as someone that is not saved except the fruitful one. They miss the edifying and encouragement by doubting the gospel of Jesus. I will also add that we go through different seasons in life.. If you are rooted and grounded in love by the faith you have in Jesus, He will be fruitful in us, and we will always get back up.

Once received, the love of God must be shared. If indulged in only for oneself, it will nourish for a day but that is all. If shared, it will sprout and bear fruit in the lives of others, and the sharer will also partake of their spiritual fruit and be filled again and again. If you have partaken of the love of God, share it with others so you and they and all they share it with can feast together.

I'm living in a place where if you talk about the Gospels of God, people make fun of you, or even worse you will be shunned and criticized. You cannot even buy a decent bible from a "Religious Bookshelf" in any bookstore. It is just all the fake facade of respecting religious equality. So, I decided to make small changes one at a time. I was starting to read the Bible thoroughly and told some stories from the bible to my family. At first, they didn't listen to me. Luckily no criticisms at all, they thought I took God as a way to infuse my life with a little excitement though. I kept talking about God from sunup to sundown, praying God would enlighten my family to find him. I prayed to God to give some hints of his existence before my family. One night when I was sleeping, I had a dream about my older sister being pregnant with a baby boy. I told her about it and it became reality. Last week, her stomach was upset, she prayed to get better, then a voice said to her, which she quoted 'Remember, you have only one God to worship.' Then her pain got away, she became better. It's so incredible. From now on my family asked me to talk more about God as they wanna find him.
I realized no matter how challenging it would be, it's worth your life spreading Jesus's mercy. Jesus is for everyone, we deserve to know and find him. To people from anti-Jesus countries, you're not alone, don't lean on the world's rules, but hold on to God's words. To people from developed countries, you're so lucky to live in freedom to talk about God without getting criticism. Don't let any political-targeted theories grab you far away from God.

When Jesus says "the evil one", as you had mentioned here, is he referring specifically to Satan as an individual, or is it more of a metaphor, or third, referring to evil in a general sense, anti-christrian, literally ? Thanks.
Good question. I personally think it is a little of both. This speaks soil speaks of those who don't understand the word and I think sometimes it's a simple as the listener just does not care enough to learn, so more of the situation of the individual. While at other times I think Satan may lead them to give up on learning, even if they have started on the path. I saw this many times when I preached the word to others. So often the moment they started learning it just seemed like Satan was working his best to put obstacles in their path. Trials, doubts, financial problems, etc. would just show up once they started learning.

Satan has his own seeds and crops of unrighteousness. These can be seen in modern society with the undoing of God's laws, confusing the sexes, violence and etc.
