Very nice video and informative. I have the same exact lights and having issues using my old wiring, after watching this I feel confident changing the entire wiring for the boat trailer. Thank you.
@@addismultitasking3504thank you sir , I watched 4 before this one it was blah blah crap , guess they expected people to know, just cause it's simple to them it's not to others , going to do mine this week, not dreading it like before I learned alot I gave you a sub.. wish all who found it helpful would do the same, take care 🇺🇲🦅🌍⚓ USMC
@@bruce9648 Thanks for watching...Message me if you have problems... Tips: Start with a good brand new light and wire kit. Anywhere there is a screw make sure its touching BARE metal. Make sure the hitch/receiver on your vehicle has some paint rubbed off...must have bare metal contact for ground..good luck
Nice video thanks, one tip... every auto mechanic i have asked has told me those blue squeeze connectors are junk. They have a bad reputation of not providing a stable dependable connection. I was advised to use push-in connectors or the standard tube style connectors which both provide very dependable connections. It can be very stressfull to go through all that to change your wiring but cheap out on the connectors and then have to go back and trace where the problem is. Also be sure when ordering your wiring harness, you get the split-y (aka wishbone) style harness.
Nice video thanks. I kept saying to myself "I know this guy, where have I seen/heard him before?" It's Mr. Poker!! :) Much like your poker videos, excellent job explaining!!
The Tow Smart (item #1413) set I purchased says "4-way flat" and has 4 wires, 24ft long...a green, yellow, brown, and white ground. The colors on the old wires coming out of the vehicle connector are faded and not discernible. It has 5 wires including a ground wire. Question: Do I have the wrong harness? Should the new harness have 2 brown wires, one for each side?
So my boat trailer is 102 inches wide and am wanting to redo the trailer lights but with that width I believe I am required to have the 3 on the rear crossbar how do I wire that one in as well?
I'm looking at purchasing this exact trailer... would you happen to know the trailer's weight? Looking for the trailer's weight without the boat on it.
Your old wiring looked like each side had a long ground wire running from the bulbs to the front of the trailer (like my boat trailer does). How exactly did that work as far as where the other end went? Did you wire both ground wires together and connect them to the ground terminal on the wiring harness? I'm having hell getting my boat lights working, and about to redo all of it.
On the rear lights there will be a white ground wire that I put on to the bolt that grounds the light to the trailer I do not run a ground up to the front of the trailer you just ground your front wiring harness to the trailer and that makes the trailer ground so anything you screw to the trailer will be grounded
@@addismultitasking3504 Sorry, it looked like your old wiring was the same as mine. I might have been wrong. Here's my situation: I have ground wires (on both sides of the trailer) that run from the trailer taillight bulbs all the way to the front of the trailer. So far I haven't been able to find any type of wiring diagram that resembles this. I don't know what to do with two ground wires when I'm connecting them to the wiring harness. I just assume I would wire them together and connect them to the ground terminal on the plug. I had the lights working (somewhat) for a while, but actually think I may have blow a fuse on my pickup.
Man wish I saw this sooner I was trying to use coat hangers to feed the wire through and this whole time I could just use the old wire. I feel so stupid now
NEVER wire nuts on ANYTHING boat trailer, marine or automotive they are strictly for home use.. Crimped heat shrink is the proper way. That is the recipe for Corrosion / green gremlin!!!
To teach people like me that have never worked on trailer lights, you need to show every step, not do it, then just say what you did...As you did on the side lights. I have never connected wires or tried to troubleshoot wiring before, but am fixing to replace corroded ones. . Also, you would help people if you explain what color wire is for what function. I have learned that already. I have also been attacked by ants while laying under the trailer to see how the wires run. Lesson one..dont do that.
Those little in wire tap things are junk. Go to your hardware and find something that can be made water tight. Those things are what uhaul dealers use to wire you up and get you out the door. They will go bad somewhere between the time they are put on and when you really need them.
Best trailer wiring video on you tube. Many thanks!
Wow, thanks!
Great video, direct to the point no fluff. Many Thanks!
Thanks

great video because:
- no loud music
- not longer than it needed to be
- easy to follow steps and language
- good steps and procedure displayed
Thanks
Awesome, concise info, that is well documented. It was the only video I watched, and the new trailer wiring is working great. Thank you!
Glad it helped

Excellent video. The information is presented in an easy way to understand and the visual are also excellent. Thank you
Thanks for watching and have a good weekend
nice video . short to the point and using the old wires as a fish for the new ones is a good idea .
Thanks
People try to make this complicated you made it easy for me guy Thx. 100
What about the small
Lights in the back on the bottom
Middle?
Holy Cow - great method. Takes the guess work out of pulling wires through! Thanks!
thanks for watching have a good night
Those wire nuts may work in freshwater but in saltwater I would HIGHLY recommend a butt connector with heat shrink tubing. Otherwise, nice job
If I go to all the trouble to rewire a trailer I'm sure as hell not gonna go cheap and use wire nuts for the connections. That's just being lazy.
Thank you! This was what I was looking for!
cool have a good night
Fantastic!!! Thank you so much... Best video on RUclips...
Glad you liked it!
I would advise against the locktite. Can make things beyond difficult if you ever have to take the brake light housing off again.
i'd like to advise against those twist lock connectors
Blue locktite isn’t a problem. It releases fairly easily.
Thanks for this video, it was extremely helpful to me.. 👍
glad it helped
Do you have any more videos involving this boat? I have the same one and there’s not a lot of info on Fishers out there
Nicely done sir , thank you for the tips .
No problem 👍
GREAT VIDEO‼️
Thanks
Does the wiring for the side marker lights come with the kit as well? I can't tell from the pictures on the amazon link. Thank you and great video!
Yes it does

The ones I install have 2 brown
And what about the center lights? How do you rewire those?
What if your trailer is alluminum, do we still ground to the frame?
Which light is the middle light bar connected to, or is it connected to a brown wire independently?
So my boat trailer is 102 inches wide and am wanting to redo the trailer lights but with that width I believe I am required to have the 3 on the rear crossbar how do I wire that one in as well?
Pretty much the same way as the side lights.
I'm looking at purchasing this exact trailer... would you happen to know the trailer's weight? Looking for the trailer's weight without the boat on it.
Also, is this an aluminum trailer?
steel trailer, and Im only guessing its around 400 pounds at the most. I have an aluminum trailer and I know its 325 pounds
Great video. Thanks!
Thanks
Will the waterproof connectors work for the running lights on the side or is the wiretap splice the better choice??
waterproof connectors are better, the wire tap has a pc of metal in it that will rust
All my lights works but it doesnt with parking lights. What is the cause?
If your vehicle has a tow package it will have a separate fuse for those lights... Or it's simply a dirty connector pin
Make sure the ground connection wire on the trailer is clean and rust free
I have a video that troubleshoots trailer wiring that will have a lot more info as well
Can you provide a link to the troubleshooting vid???
Does it matter with with wiring?
Thanks for the vid! So the brakes work as well? I tried to wire my kit and the turn signals work, but no brakes?? Any thoughts on what I did wrong?
make sure the tail light housings are grounded or you have the white wire off the tail lights on a good ground
or the brake filament is burned out
Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it
and the connection to the truck?

I do have a video on troubleshooting all problems on trailer wiring that may help you out as well I go through some other things
Most likely you have a rusty ground that's not making solid connection
@@addismultitasking3504 Sorry, it looked like your old wiring was the same as mine. I might have been wrong. Well that would work but I believe your trailer will have to be connected to the hitch on your vehicle to make them work..
Guy just restored faith to humanity lol
Thanks for watching, have a good weekend
Remember to pull excess wiring out and cut before installing lights....I forgot and had to do it all over again
why didnt you check your brake lights?
Since the turn signal uses the same wire as the brake, It’s not really needed.
Thank you.
You're welcome!

Common chassis grounds no good and blue Scotch Clips are no good
