Hello people there is an update: Mesh to Brep no more (Realized after 2.0.10440 update). Just go to Mesh -> Modify -> Convert Mesh and you should be done
Thank you Gareth, for sharing your knowledge and preparing such an excellent tutorial video. It helped me as well. Wish you lots of success,. Greetings from Vancouver, Canada.
Thanks dude, i came across the "too many facets" Though i did find that you can reduce this under the mesh tab. Thanks for the video it did help otherwise!
Thanks for sharing your expertise on how to import STL files into Fusion 360. Outstanding! Question: can you recommend one of the apps in the Google Play Store that allows the user to "3D scan" an object using their phone (e.g. a Galaxy S8) to create an STL file? The STL file would then be imported into Fusion 360 as you described in this video. Like your teaching style and will likely sign up for your course. Really nice work!!!
Is this any good for the "free" version of Fusion 360? I don't see any of the options I see in the video and workarounds for the latest version in the comments? I see the video is using the "educational" version.
brillant presentation ! i have to use this to work on stl file . it means to draw spline and to create a template that i can plug or unplug to the process of assembly . How to do that? thanks
Thanks for the video. I'm new to Fusion and I 3d print as well as use a cnc router. I'm really considering the course you offer but I have to ask..... Is there things in the course you can't find on RUclips? Is so I'll gladly try it. I like your videos. I just don't want to blow money if I can learn the same thing for free.
I just watched a video on how to fix that! you have to bring down the polygon count in Fusion 360 before you convert it, this is the vid ruclips.net/video/Q1ZLe04X1-4/видео.html
for those interested in getting rid of those weird triangles: after I splited my part, all those weird triangles magiacally disappeared. you're welcome
@@roberte8466 Wow I haven't seen this. Long time passed but I'll answer anyway: Firstly, create a plane (e.g. construct -> offset plane)(choose a plane from one of part's faces) then select split body (modify -> split body). It will require you to pick the body to split, and plane through which the split will occur. Then combine the newly created solids into one (modify -> combine) and you should be done
@@thehardwareguy though there is no way of actually making changes on measurements of existing bodies or components from a mesh file. To me it is slightly useless function. Unless you want to mod the specific part by simply adding holes, etc. I find it easier to just remodel completely. Thanx for the well explained video though.
I ran into an issue as it stated that my mesh can not be converted. Warning: This mesh contains a large number of facets. Conversion has been aborted :O
@@AcerRacer123 I also found it :D But mine had still too high number of surfaces. I had to go to like 1% but than it was barely the same object. After some trial and error I found that it just does not work with all objects if they are too complicated... It was a voronoi object that I wanted to manipulate but was unable to do so :(

I’m not seeing anything new so I can’t get past the 2 minute mark in the video
Thanks for that. Almost hit the dislike button to your video
@@aduckofsomesort same here
2.0.10813 Doesn't seem to be allowing me either
THANK YOU! All the videos I watched and things that I read were the outdate method and it was driving me friggin crazy.
Thank you for the video! Incredible that neither Solidworks not Inventor can do this kind of STL editing and the Fusion does.
Amazing video. You’re a great teacher!
Thank you I have been looking for this for hours
Thanks for providing clear and waffle-free instructions. Subscribed!

Very helpful, clear, focussed and to the point! Thumbs up!!
Thank you!
Helpful video. Thanks a lot
Well done mate. Damn well done. Subscribed.
Thanks for subscribing!
Awesome man thank you. Very easy to follow and understand. Subscribed!
Thank you!
Ia am new to fusion 360, and this answered exactly the question I was struggling with, thank you
I really really like the way to talk, nice video! regards
Very useful!!!
Thanks dude, i came across the "too many facets" Though i did find that you can reduce this under the mesh tab. Thanks for the video it did help otherwise!
thats what happened to mine. I tried reducing the Brep but itcame out deformed.
Mine has 89,000+ facets is there a way to fix this?

Thank you. You saved my life. Now I can modify old .stl file.
Very well done👍
Very concise. Many thanks 🙏
Very well explained video, found it very useful. Thanks!
fantastic video, just what I needed and I appreciate you getting straight to the point.
Very well done video!! I'm looking forward to seeing more on your channel!
Thank you
This was great, What if you want to scale the imported file?
Thanks for the tutorial.

mine said it contains to many facets any way around that ? it would not let me brep it ?
Cant figure it out in 2.0.10813 version...No mesh to Brep in convert...
How do you remove the triangles?
Brilliant! Thank you
how do you scale the stl file? they always seem to be 10x bigger
thanks
Woww nice tutorial bro,by the way my trial version fusion 360 cannot save stl bro, what to do ?it say cloud translation something
Cheers. This is very helpful!!!

Hi man. This is a great video. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do if the .STL has too many faces and then can not go into a BREP?

I’m interested in the Prusa mod but when you say “click here” there’s nothing appearing ☹️ Great videos though, thanks.
Thank u bro
It says my file has too many facets what do I do
I do not see anywhere in my fusion Mesh to Brep, any help, even tho following all the instruction
They updated, it has changed.
@@thehardwareguy that's why, coz I was used to use it, however, thanks coz I managed to find the new location now
@@flavianojose8423 where is the new location
Already 5mm hole in STL file I will change to 6mm . how to edit.
now how do I move this body to another Design?
Same way as usual! I have another video about this called ‘Importing Models’. Have a look through my Fusion 360 playlist👍🏻

Split and recombine, all normal.

Is it possible to edit diameters and other dimensions in this way?
Yes.. kind of! You can use the push/pull tool to make modifications

that dunt work under the meshbody i dont have that option at all
Check out the updated version of this video. Link is in the video description
None of this works with importing an STL file into the current version of F360. None of the conversion options appear.
Autodesk recently updated their software. I will make a new video soon.
if only i saw this before i searched for two hours for a cad file that wasn't an .stl
thanks for the tutorial!
"hen manufacturing, he does not find the edges right. Do you have a solution for that too?
Everything goes to hell at 2:03. There is no mesh tab whereby I might find mesh to b-rep.
non of them options exist in my version of fusion

@@thehardwareguy thanks
editing does not works in my case
I ran into an issue as it stated that my mesh can not be converted. Warning: This mesh contains a large number of facets. Conversion has been aborted :O
had the same issue, just found out you can reduce the amount of surfaces at the mesh tab - reduce. Then conversion worked as in the video

wow this is outdated now and fusion won't let a hobbyist do this anymore ... sad that a once useful hobbyist software has become greedy
It's still possible, they just changed the UI. I'll be releasing an updated video next week!
WARNING: This is OBSOLETE. Find a newer explanation of how to do this.
Roger, check the DESCRIPTION and COMMENTS where I linked the updated video many years ago.
