The place is huge! Imagine one day bring back to life full of self catering apartments like a proper Villa! Would be amazing and such a beautiful place to be ❤
My name is Mark, an Irishman living with my wife in Mississippi. We just found your channel and have watched the first three videos. You guys are incredible. Thank for letting us share in your adventures
Came here from 9gag. First of all congratulations on the beautiful property and living the dream life !! Obviously as a 9gagger I have to give you some armchair expert suggestions : 1) The bamboo grows fast and aggressively and even if you cut it, new ones will come from the roots. You need to remove the roots to truly get rid of it. Bamboo is also a great building material so use it where you can for making supports during construction and so on. 2) The drone is great for looking over your property. 3) Its important to sort out the water holding areas on both hills. With the crazy weather nowadays you cant say what will happen to the stream. Better to plan in advance to harvest and store water all over. 4) Plant mixed varieties of mosquito repellent plants all over your property. It will really help reduce the problem later. Catnip, Citronella and Ageratum floss flower are best. 5) Figure out the ideal pathways through the property and keep them in use during the restoration process 6) A Suzuki Jimny will be a great investment for internal transport. Its a small, nimble, capable and reliable 4*4 and not expensive. There is a slightly longer version that can have better cargo capacity. 7) Some sort of large mulching machine similar to a lawnmower will help clear the weeds and branches in open areas easily. For the other tight areas you might need to use a weed killer if its far from growing areas and is legal. 8) You can buy and spread earthworms in the growing areas to improve the soil quality and keep it aerated. 9) Lastly for the back wall of the Mill that has water seepage, You could dig around the foundation and cover it in waterproof cement. For the upper areas you get transparent waterproof coatings to seal it without spoiling the look of the stonework
Wow! I don’t know what to say.. Thank you so much for your support and advices. Actually our plan was to get rid of the roots. We found a good worker (well I think it is time to say „a friend“) that will do this. And we already built a pergola roof with it 🙂 We actually need to get to know the land better to fully understand what is necessary, it will take time for sure 😅🌿🫶🏼
Congrats for the amazing project. I'm sure you can make the best of it and take care of the surroundings ❤ I'm amazed at the amount of ruins to uncover. Lots of work waiting to get done, but the reward will be huge. Thanks for sharing and for the great production and edition 🎉
Wow! What an opportunity, if a lot of work. Keep going and your channel will be one of the biggest of the Portugal ones, I think. You have such amazing land. And a special mention for the grape-eating dad, and for also looking like a hard worker in this video.
It looks so beautiful, but it is also so invasive.. yes, for sure we want to dig out the roots as well! This will give us so much for space for a garden and easy access to the stream 🙂⛰️
Well that was fascinating to watch the old walls reappear from the brambles. Your plans for the site sound really good though it will obviously be an enormous amount of work. I will certainly be watching your videos.
Yes, for sure it will be a lot of work, but much less than renovating the house. The village will be a project for later, but we just had to habe a look of what is underneath the brambles 🌿
It looks like you need to invite two hundred of your best friends to clear the foliage. Just kidding! Maybe just ten. It must be fun discovering something unexpected. Best to all! Stay safe.
You are sooo right! 😅 sometimes it feels like that this project is endless, but it makes us so much joy. At some point we will habe volunteer and friends here for sure 🌿
@@Montinho_Monchique Wish I could be there to help but no passport and I'm old. I'm looking forward to watching your labor of love. Best from the desert southwest, Arizona.
you know that there are a lot of people here willing to help, providing they can get some free shelter, most of them wouldn't even mind chipping in a bit just to help you and enjoy themselves!
We are so overwhelmed because of all the kind feedback and support. He didn’t think at all, that so many people like what we are doing! Our plan is to have volunteers and workaways at our place, to share these adventures with. We just need a little bit of time to create the necessary infrastructure! 🫶🏼
You should buy some goats and just fence off the ruin. They will eat almost everything and leave the buildings clear. To mow brambles, you need a blade that isn't flat it curves down at both ends so it looks like a cup shape when it spins.
Lilians mum already took a couple of goat curses in Germany 😅 she will for sure get some goats in spring. Yes, Luis told us about the blade. We immediately bought one of these and it was much better! Thank you for your advice! ☀️😬
20 pigs will clear 22 acres easily, whilst you work renovating,no cost for fuel hire etc etc,and completely otganic, regenerative permaculture, dont waste money,it soon goes❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great idea! We will keep it in mind. Actually my mum wants to keep goats. So maybe she’s motivated to expand her plans :D let’s see! Thanks for your comment!
Just to clear things up, no pun intended, did you buy 22 hectare or 22 acres? The title from your first video says 22 hectare, but at the top from your yt page you write, and I quote, "renovation and recultivation of 22 acres abadoned land". I do not want to sound negative, but you also misspelled the word abandoned because it is missing the N. But 22 acre is 8,9 hectare or roughly 89000 square meter. However 22 hectare is 220 000 square meter, which is a huge difference. Another way to compare it is that 22 hectare is roughly 2,5 times larger as 22 acres. Hectares and acres are different units. It is still an impressive project, regardless what the actual size is, don't get me wrong. But it would help to get a better sense of what the actual scale from the project is. 👍
@@insAneTunA Hello and thank you for your comment! Very attentive !:D Indeed, we simply made a mistake in the translation. English is not our native language, so we made mistakes in the first recordings and will certainly make some in the future. Following your advice, we have now adjusted everything to avoid this mistake in the future. It is 22 hectares. So it’s huuuuuge. Regarding this mistake we already got gently dissed from several 9gaggers 🥲(appreciate it haha) Thanks again and have a nice day 🌞🫶🏽
@@Montinho_Monchique My parents started with two goats, and now I believe they have more than 10. Just in case they take too much of your time, always consider giving them away to neighbors or something, since maintaining numbers might be important! Also, when building roads, there are levels to consider. Vegetation and trees can absorb water. If you remove that, consider reinforcing the area so water won’t wash away your roads. Water drainage and other additional measures might be important over time. Good luck with your project!

Respekt, ein ganzes Dorf restaurieren.😊
Es soll ja eher ein Glampingplatz in den Ruinen werden.. Eine komplette Renovierung wäre wohl zu viel des Guten 😅☀️
