    Great video! Thanks! I've had TSA Precheck for 4 years now-WHEN it's open it's definitely a good thing (as in several times when traveling with a group, those of us with it got thru security and actually sat an had a drink waiting for the rest of them). I applied for Global Entry and will be doing the interview at the airport upon return from an international trip this May.

    Best thing is that Global Entry isn't just for US citizens, like TSA Precheck, but also can be applied for by citizens from a certain number of other countries. Since I'm Dutch, Global Entry was the only way to go for me after The Netherlands became one of those countries in late June 2022. I was fully approved on March 14 of this year and able to use it on my trip last June.
    The only thing that's really different is that non-US citizens do not get the Global Entry card.

    This was an incredibly easy experience. I applied for Global Entry on 5/1/24 at 3:35am. I was conditionally approved on 5/2/24. I immediately looked for an appointment to have the interview and there was an appointment on 5/3/24 at the Global Entry center at Orlando International Airport. But since the walk from the garage was very long, I checked Sanford Airport and they had an appointment on 5/10/24. I arrived early and they took me a few minutes early. My “interview” took 7 minutes. Just confirmed my name, address, place of work and my countries of visit since 2019. My fingerprints were taken and the officer gave me my KTN. By the time I got back my car I got an email and was approved. I was shocked at how easy and fast the entire experience was from beginning to end.

    Hi Amanda, I am currently enrolled in TSA Pre-check, with an expiration of May, 2024. I applied for Global entry once my new passport arrived, but was declined for something that happened 36 years ago. I am now in the process of "appeal", but have been told that this process will take several months. Currently, I only have 1 international trip scheduled this year. (a cruise in November) In the interim, I will use my existing TSA Pre-check and keep my fingers crossed. When I went to the interview, all of the questions are worded "have you ever". To be honest, I didn't think of the event that had occurred, as it was so long ago, but they found it and declined me for it nonetheless. Most background checks only go back 7-10 years, but CBP going back to your birth date. It's good to know, but also frustrating at the same time. There wasn't even a blip for the last 36 years, which is why the agent suggested the appeal process to me. He stated that I probably had a better than 50% chance of being approved, but it would still take months before someone hears my case. Even then, it will only be handled via e-mail, so I can't even go in front of anyone to tell my side. For now, I will stand in line for customs unfortunately.

    • @IamCrystalAmanda
      @IamCrystalAmanda  Год назад +2

      Hi LeeAnn, wow! 😧 That’s unfortunate. 😔 I’m surprised they went back to the birth date because the last I read, the application states that the background check goes back 7 years. Good to know and good thing you at least still have TSA PreCheck in the meantime. It’s better than nothing, right? 🙂 Thanks for sharing and good luck with your appeal.

It did take over a year, but I will take the win! Hope things are well with you? 😊😊

      Yes, close! 🙂 It’s called the Mobile Passport Control (MPC). You would download the app, submit any travel documents, answer some CBP related questions (from the customs declaration form) and take a self-photo. Once submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation and electric QR code, which you’ll need to present with your physical passport to the Customs officer for inspection.
      There should be MPC signs to direct you on where to wait for the Customs officer to process your re-entry.

    • @IamCrystalAmanda
      @IamCrystalAmanda  Год назад

      Wow! 😧 That’s super frustrating and inconvenient. 😒
      It worked out for me because I already had an international trip booked (a month later), so I waited to return from that trip to use the Enrollment on Arrival interview option because like you, there were no available appts near me.
      That’s very inconvenient for those who don’t have any trips booked because 1. not everyone has the time to travel and 2. not expecting to spend way more money just to complete the process.
      Sorry this is happening to you. 😔 What will you end up doing?
