Mine has lasted 29 years. It will be replaced in february and my dentist will also place a crown on another fronth tooth. The other tooth was also broken on the top when i fell but was still alive. The other tooth was repaired but is discolouring for a long time. Its darker than the other tooth. Now with the two crowns it finally will look better. If they last 28 years again i will be 72.

My new crowns keep getting loose after a couple of months. This is the 3rd time in a about 6 months. Dentist says it’s because of my teeth grinding. Even with teeth grinding, is it supposed to get loose that easily? Or was there some poor work done and he’s blaming it on something else?
I stopped trusting crowns when two different dentists placed two different crowns, and both failed within a year. Dentistry has become a rip off, and I no longer trust dentists. It was one thing when i was a kid, dentists were an honest medical profession. Dentists have become the used car salesmen of the medical field. Now I am just relegated to waiting for my teeth to fall out because there are no honest dentists in the metro Phoenix area.
The reason my teeth got so bad, was because I had so many bad dentists one after another and just finally quit going. I figured I will wait til they are beyond repair to see one. 12 years later and I finally had a tooth so bad I had to go to a dentist. I got really lucky with this one. I wish I had found them years ago, ended up needing 2 root canals and 4 crowns :( 12 years ago could have just gotten a filling or two. I hear you though.. it is super hard to find trustworthy dentists anymore. So far everything has been good with this one, hopefully these crowns last me a long time.
I'm sorry you've had the poor experiences. As you're close to Mexico and Latin America, you could consider having your work done there for MUCH less money. I'm having mine done by a top-rated dentist in Bogota. Of course, the other option is to keep looking in PHX. There are PLENTY of excellent dentists there, just as is the case in any major Metropolitan area.
It is expensive. Maybe insurance is the problem, not that materials, staff, schooling, property, etc are exorbitant. I don’t hear people complaining as much about medicine, where they charge $300 for a bandage in the ER. We are doing surgeries after all, and materials and laboratories are very expensive.
@@toothdoc6615 for sure insurance is a factor, but i still think the 1800 for the pulp extomy and filling rhe tooth with guta percha was worth that. 1st molar on upper left. Dentist told me my roots are 26mm long. 3 of em with 4 canals.
Sorry, but my dental problems nkw come after the dentist gets finish doing their medicore work. How about a fracture that the dentist cracked while doing a filling or removing one? They should be responsible for hurting other teeth so it will.make them.more careful

@@chavonn8ify yea man just go to the dentist. I had a really bad cavity and cracked my tooth, and ignored it for 2 years until the pain was excruciating... Went to the dentist 2 weeks ago and she did a root canal on my tooth. I didn't feel a thing and it was honestly strangely relaxing lmao. I honestly could have fallen asleep if I was tired. And when I went back in to get the crown she said she wasn't going to use any anesthesia to make sure she got the infection and if I felt any pain at all she would give me anesthetic, well didn't feel a thing during the crowing procedure besides one part where they put like a blue string like looking thing around the base of my tooth, that was a little uncomfortable. But it was just like u flossed, little too rough. But I'm so glad to have gone. No more tooth pain is A HUGE RELIEF and a lot of stress gone. I was literally laughing at myself when I got home at how scared I was for no reason. Lmao. Edit : just wanted to add for the root canal the only thing I did feel was the 1st initial shot of the anesthetic. Which isn't too bad because they rub lidocaine on your gums beforehand but it still stings just a tad.
Spot on! A lot of interesting , worthwhile information, without unnecessary jibber-babber. His enthusiasm is infectious (no pun intended). Getting one soon and this information certainly helps. Thank you.
I am having pfm crowns in front and they feel totally artificial... Very thick...like something is against my tounge , my tounge keeps constantly touching the crowns and it is covering my gum line so i feel sensation in the gum line under the crown...having constant tooth ache..but my dentist says everything is fine and i am overthinking..what should i do?? I am very depressed and don't feel like living I want to throw them away and live with my natural teeth
Hi! I hope you are not still suffering. So what my dentist told me is that a crown must be thicker to protect the tooth inside. It also keeps it strong so when you bite, it won’t crack or break. My crown bothered me for a month. I had to have it adjusted 3 times. Go back to your dentist, and explain everything you feel. Have them do the carbon paper marking, multiple times and tilt your head left and right. Often times we bite straight down to test the bite, but when we chew it’s not just straight up and down. I hope this advice helps 💗
Hey can we get back to remove our crown nd just live with that half natural teeth bec I really wanna do that....I don't want to live with this crown for the rest of my lifee...😢
I chipped my tooth in high school and got a temporary cap. My dentist is getting me to finally crown it. I brush and floss like crazy, but I do grind my teeth, too. Over-the-counter guards are not helpful because I ground through. Maybe I should get a specialty one?
Maybe don't brush and floss your teeth like crazy and be gentle. And get a specialty guard! I just got mine and it fits my teeth shape and alignment perfectly. It's gotta be more comfortable and safe that OTC ones
I wasn't great at taking care of my teeth in Elhi and have tons of filled ngs. I've also had two root canals and had to get fillings for chipped teeth, but that's just because I have soft teeth.
I feel sorry for you. My brother had soft teeth. It almost sounds like a joke, but it isn't. It's a serious condition. Sorry you are going through all that.
When they grind your teeth to fit the new crown, does this grinding affect your tooth enamel? Because dentist indicated my crown needed to be replaced because it had a crack, I trusted him and it was replaced it, when it arrived it was very high, and now I am having issues bcs dentist keeps grinding my bottom and top teeth (top teeth is my original, no filling, etc) but dentist indicated they cannot grind the crown, to avoid breaking it, then, now they grinded, but then my left side where they replaced a filling (they said it needed to be replaced, when it was done I believe four years ago), now I am having headaches on both sides of my mouth , left and right top and on the right side, where the crown was replaced the pain extends from where the location of the crown to my neck, just below. I believe the right side was grinded too much that now my structure is uneven, so please advise, because I am really tired of dealing with this issue. It feels that the left side is higher than the right side. If dentist was notified that the crown was too high, why he did not send it back to be replaced for the right one? Please advise... I am tired of going back and then having issues. I had always taken care of my teeth, so all this grinding is worrying me. My former dentist retired and this new dentist took over, he was well recommended by my former dentist. I am very worried about all the grinding and all new problems, because I never had these issues before with my other crowns. My former dentist always told me, "if you have no pain or it is not bothering you, I do not need to do anything, but it is just decision". I was needed all this work done in my last visit with my dentist last year, before he retired.
You are probably having TMJ disorder.... which can be a disaster and will stay whole life if not cured early. Go to a different dentist.... check for occlusion to be correct and never hesitate to replace that poorly done crown
I had small cavity. Think dentist cut to much back of my tooth cuz he even said "Oh". Did my filling and a year later my filling has been given me issues. Now I need a crown 😑
After my root canal I am now waiting for the next steps to get the crown. Total cost here in California for me was 3500 for one tooth, one root canal. The cost just as painful as the root canal 😩😢
Dental plans that you have discussed from either this or your other videos are they through Employer? or sold directly to Consumer, I work in Healthcare and we have always chosen a more expensive plan to have a lower co pay but end up paying so much for a Porcelain Crown with a In Network Provider :( You have discussed the price of $750-$1500 is that the cost of the Porcelain Crown after insurance?
MetLife zirconia crown offer by my Denise is only 790 range, and I get 80% coverage however if you buy person dental plan you get 50% coverage, that means you only pay $395 out of pocket. Also MetLife monthly fee is $35-$45 so around $400-530 a year for insurance fee.
well done video. I just had a tooth extracted..not fun real bad as freezing didnt take nerve was weird it was a root canal tooth that cracked...ugh I put off a crown as here its 1500 dollars . no insurance ugh. .. now I chipped a tooth after the extraction and it needs a crown its all filling..ugh lost another tooth a few years ago because the tooth cracked under the crown . my teeth suck.
Hello sir , I got my silver temporary crown removed for a permanent crown . I had the silver crown since I was like a kid not sure age. But now with the porcelain my bite feels off. After multiple adjustments I'm now being told I will need braces . I'm noticing on the left side where crown is instead of a nice curve it goes in a straight line but not in a good way. My right side also feels slightly like it's hitting high. I got a tooth near the crown adjusted because it got a filling but was told they didn't want to go any lower and that I will need braces. But I never had this issue with the silver crown . Does this have to do with my crowded bottom teeth or is something wrong with the crown itself. I've been told the crown looks fine . So was wondering if braces is my last resort. When I line up my right side best I can I'm noticing a slight gap between top teeth and the crown . Please I'd like to hear your opinion. Thanks
I'm getting a porcelain crown and it is going to cost me about $1,614. I have another tooth that would be a root canal AND a crown (which I definitely can't afford!) so I'm just having that one extracted. The one getting extracted is all the way in the back anyway, and my dentist said that I won't miss it.
My temporary crown fell out a week ago and it happened twice. My dentist charges so far are $3,507 and I haven't even received the crown. Now, my dental insurance is refusing to pay because they said the procedure wasn't necessary. It says the plan pays for 50% and they are refusing to pay anything so I'm stuck in this financial situation with no help. The dentist is not even investigating it further. I'll probably file an appeal. They charged me also when the temporary crown fell out. Any advice?
I have a gold crown on my lower back molar next to my (missing) wisdom tooth that was done by a Navy dentist 34 years ago. Never had issues with it and it's still in place!
I have ceramic crown after RCT. It feels very irritating (artificial sense). Sometimes I feel a bit pain on that crowned tooth whenever I chew something (semi hard food). I had a terrible headache, the next day after I put on the crown on one of my tooth. After that day onwards, i feel dizziness all the time till this day. What could be wrong with my health ? Is this crown causing health issues, side effects on my health ?
I broke one of my molars last year, at first I thought a filling fell out because the tooth has a hole. After looking at it the people at the dentist office were actually concerned for me, it don't hurt but guess it looks painful. The options they gave me to fix it let's just say the crown was the least painful and least expensive option
Just curious on how long did you hold before getting your crown? I got a root canal on my front side tooth and debating rather or not I should go spending money on a crown especially since I dont eat on that side
I have been interested in getting porcelain veneers for a long time. My dentist first told me I could just get 6 veneers. I read somewhere that if a dentist tells you to just get 6, they were just trying to get your money because you really need at least 8 to look right. Now, the same dentist is telling me that I should get 8 crowns to give them more support. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my teeth and I have never had any cavities on those front teeth. I feel like he is just trying to get more money. Do you think I should get crowns if nothing is wrong with my teeth?
No don’t do that. It’s a pretty bad idea to get veneers for no reason. The crowns could fail in time or they could just look like shit. If it fails the dentist will have to reprep your teeth to put on new crowns, by doing that they’ll remove more of you teeth. It will also cost more. And yeah there are a lot of dentists out there just getting money. Keep ya naturals they look fine. If anyone is giving you grief about them, they’re a piece of garbage. If you do get the veneers, don’t get zirconia. It’s cheaper, but if the crown is improperly made it could grind your opposing teeth as it’s a harder material than tooth enamel. Get porcelain fused to lithium disilicate or porcelain fused to metal. Take care.
Thank you so much for replying. When I said nothing was wrong with my teeth, I meant I have never had any cavities or other problems with my front teeth that I feel like would justify crowns. My teeth are spaced out though and I have been considering veneers for a long time. I think I will go to a dentist who specializes in cosmetic dentistry. Again, thank you so much for answering my question.
Ah I see. Definitely ask around. One more thing, more of a personal gripe of mine. Ask them to see what lab they are using. Do a little digging. Look up the lab that they are using. And I know better crowns are more expensive, but you’re going to have these things in your mouth for everyone to see for a long time. Not everyone is a sheister, but there’s a lot of funny business goin on in the industry. Stay safe, be sneaky, and please be kind. You don’t want to make an enemy out of a potential friend. God bless
I live in Switzerland & the dentist said 3000$ for a crown. Lol... so it has been 8 months & I'm still trying to find a cheaper option. I might just travel to Asia 😂 next year & get it done
Hi I’m in so much trouble after crowns, can you please help me my front 3 teeth’s is moving actually crowns get loose. What should I do now, I can not get dentist appointment
A life saving advice: do not have a teeth crown when a tooth feeling can do a work. I have two teeth crown and I regret it. The crown has caused gap between my teeth causing food to stick every time I eat.
Also if you're getting significant fillngs on visible spots your dentist matters. Some dentists are really good at color-matching some dentists are not
@@hotbrown6351 solid still - and very recently just been to the dentist , don’t have to go back for a check up for a year . Also it’s a front tooth crown, I had to get due to an accident .
I am getting my first crown tomorrow at the age of 44, the reason I need it is because my tooth chipped real bad. I actually need another tooth crowned because it chipped but I got it filled eight years ago and it’s been hanging in there, so I still have to get a crown on 2nd tooth just because the filling isn’t all that strong. my third crown that I need is on a tooth that needs a root canal, but the endodontist says there is bone loss, and I need to see a periodontist first before he does the root canal. I mean he did give me a choice whether to go along with the $1700 root canal procedure, but then he said I could feel some pain six months down the road or five years down the road so go have the periodontist sprinkle some bow and dust on there and then will do the root canal and then I’ll do the crown. Kids take care of your teeth because all this out-of-pocket dental care is super expensive. But, I refuse to have any of my teeth polled. Even if they are a molar which nobody will see. Think about it if you have a molar missing on your bottom, what is that molar above it gonna do, so yeah do you need all your teeth, so take care of them, and if you like to do drugs like I do and drink alcohol, just make sure you’re brushing your teeth twice a day and I floss after every time I eat but that’s just me. I cannot handle having food. Stuck in my teeth. Hope this helps I remember kids, don’t skip out on dental hygiene. Here’s another note that I have: dental procedures are a gamble, just like with anything in life. Some people can go decades without any bad things happening, but others have it all happen at once. So it’s better to be safe than sorry so if you can afford it get your stuff squared away because nobody wants to look at somebody with an ugly disgusting smile. I wonder how much dentures cost I’m gonna look that up right now.

Just got my temp crown this morning (to replace a broken 20 yr old crown; the full one is being fitted in a few weeks). Mine have lasted me quite some time (but in the month or so I waited for my appointment (I'm in the UK), a half crown I had done in 2015 fell off whole....so my dentist just cleaned it (it hadn't taken any of the tooth with it) and re-cemented it. (the NHS in the UK don't "really" cover dentistry like the other elements....they have like a 3-tier structure a - £20 b £70 and c £300...obviously a crown is c but if you needed 1 - 12, they'd still just be the £300...so it's clearly subsidized).
Okay so I really hope you see this so that I can get your opinion on if it’s a scam or not. The other day, i had x rays done since I started going to this new dentist. They showed me the xray, and they found a cavity between teeth #3 & #4 and the cavity is actually on both of those teeth. From what I remember, the dentist said that it seems pretty small so he’ll just continue to monitor it and I just need to be better at flossing and brushing. If the cavity gets bigger, he said one option (or only option, i don’t remember) would be to get a crown on one of those teeth, and get a large filling on the other one to prevent any other root canals needing to be done. Is that a thing? Would just fillings be enough or would that cause further issues? I started going to this office because the crown I had gotten initially at a different office was done so poorly I went to this office for a second opinion (this replacement crown fits so much better)
Definitely don't allow any root canals done in your mouth. They end up leading to health problems in the years to come. Check into the subject from holistic dentists.
Root canal doesn't last forever, at max around 20 years and for hard chewers it's likely around 10 years. Wasting money on root canal is not worthwhile just go and get implant and be done with that tooth.
Nope my temporary crown which was made by my father 9 years ago still is good . But I take very good care of it . Allways flass under. However looks like I need to replace it now cause I need a little bigger size with time but if not I think she would be with me 10 years more .
As a dental assisting student, we are taught that composites are your first go to than a root canal .a root canal is much more invasive taking away the nerve , you should only get a root canal if that is the only choice. Think about people with dentures, they cannot feel what they are checking it actually is a weird feeling compared to what it feels like when we chew. We have nerves we can feel everything we do with our teeth.if you get root canal you remove your nerve it changes more than you would think , that’s the easy way out which is why a root canal is cheaper .
@@kinte1870 I didn’t mean to say crown .I meant composites (fillings/resin) .and yes crown goes on after a root canal .it’s not something everyone gets afterwards but something they should get or they will be right back for another root canal. I apologize lol
Since I was 12 when I got mine which was for one of my 2 front teeth because I ran and bit a coffee table in my room cuz I got mad at my younger sister and yes I did get into a lot of trouble but I still got lucky that I got a crown and not a false tooth that can be taken out, I’m 16 and got the crown some time near the end of October probably in the middle and I was told to be careful which I try my best to but I don’t go crazy and chomping it down trying to break it so I’m semi careful but probably should be more careful considering that if something happens to it and I’m 18 then I obviously would be paying for it cuz I would be an adult
Just as an example Delta Dental covers something ridiculous like one crown per yr at half of 1500 so if you are over 65 u will be needing some crowns for sure as well as my having had NYC crowns that were done from my job but alas insurance does not cover good dental work at all and never has...especially for an older senior on social so get ready I need 5 crowns right now but im 74 it will be at least 1500 per also you need complicated dental like an implant its 4-5 thous. per tooth and my Dads dentures 10 yrs back were 5 thousand
I dont want to get crowns, but I had an accident when i was 8 years old that resulted the complete fracture of my front teeth, and i my dentist said ill have to get crowns eventually...
Sometimes...they want you to have a crown...to make money. Because fillings are cheaper..and sometimes....they want you..to have extra work done you dont need have done..!!..teeth are such a pain...and all my money has gone on teeth work...feel depressed about it..
It can be depressing yes.. Just like medicine, they don't teach the cause of cavities and how to fix it.. Because they don't learn it themselves.. You need to look into your overall mouth and saliva health.. And ofc your diet. Oil pulling helps oral health
Just had my first root canal….. shit is expensive. But yeah they charge so much because they know you have no choice to come to them. Once you get a dental disease and it is untreated it can risk your life, they know this and take advantage of you

My dentist talked me into getting several crowns for cosmetic reasons and the grinding process to prepare for the crowns triggered a permanent inflammatory condition that has ruined my health.
I had 6 on my upper front teeth. My teeth had fillings that were in between that were breaking. One crown failed and I’m getting an implant on Monday. Maybe look into getting implants if you need that many.

Had a filling put in 4 months ago, now that same tooth cracked and dentist wants to do a crown. I can't help but think she caused the tooth to crack. Had I left it alone, I could have probably gone years on that old tooth.

Please never listen to these people saying it’s bad and I recommend going to a local dental school way cheaper and they are really good at what they do!
How about the front tooth?? Would you suggest that for front tooth??
I’ll be getting a second root canal in a few weeks next month 😢 ugh

I am having pfm crowns in front and they feel totally artificial... Very thick...like something is against my tounge , my tounge keeps constantly touching the crowns and it is covering my gum line so i feel sensation in the gum line under the crown...having constant tooth ache..but my dentist says everything is fine and i am overthinking..what should i do?? I am very depressed and don't feel like living
I want to throw them away and live with my natural teeth
I am also facing this only feeling very depressed 😖😔

I had an accident 11 years ago it makes me shy most times can I get it done despite how long it's happened
How you get the solution
You are probably having TMJ disorder.... which can be a disaster and will stay whole life if not cured early.
Go to a different dentist.... check for occlusion to be correct and never hesitate to replace that poorly done crown
why crown still has possibility for decay??? what about implant??? can implant get decay????

Dentists who put in porcelain crowns without understanding bite strengths and orthodondics are the problem; stop blaming the patients.
I got a chipped tooth my dentist want me to get it removed I see if I can get a permanent crown instead
$1000 for a crown is with insurance so if your insurance is good you may only pay $200-300 but each insurance is different.

Hello sir ,
I got my silver temporary crown removed for a permanent crown .
Any advice?

@@bossent.9575 I had one of my front teeth on the front side get a root canal. It took me ten years to get my crown.
Take care.
Felt like I didn’t answer your question. 6 veneers can match your natural teeth but you’ll need a good dentist with a good laboratory.
God bless
If there’s nothing wrong then don’t do it.

So im confused🤔 whats the reasons not to get a crown? As ur title says
It's a click bait title, plain and simple....
Dentist at my place never fill the tooth and rather straight away go for root canal jus to make extra buck and once you ok with it ,half way treatment they tell you ll need a post (jus to make some more bucks ) jus tierd of these dentist ,you dont find true ppl

Doesn't seem that odd but of course it would depend on xrays etc.

Don't you get a crown after a root canal?

Can you please reveal the name of the insurance company, and do you live in USA?
Thank you!
