This man is unlike a lot of dentists in my state of MD. He has integrity and a Health Care Orientation. He is not first driven by monetary gain. Wish I lived near him!
I'm glad you advocate about "saving more of our tooth structure". Most dentists just don't care that much about my request and concern. I didn't want to give them hard time either, just looking out for my well being. Once the damage is done, there's no way to get it back ever. Thanks for explanation and videos.
Most dentists don't care about your health they just want money and to keep their license, which if the recommend holistic approaches they can have their license taken away
As a Prosthodontist, I couldn't agree more....in fact, with the advances in material science, there are fewer posterior teeth that need crowns as well. That being said, nothing is better than a cast gold crown on a second molar if your tooth has fractured and you are a grinder. Dr. D
Wow! You are in my opinion a dentist worthy of your calling for doing the least invasive thing and trying to save as much natural tooth as possible. Kudos to you!! ❤
It really depends on how your teeth are. Crowns saved me 100x more money, more headache and more pain than getting veneers. Most dentists don’t talk you into what you need, they talk you into what will take longer and what will possibly keep you coming back and spending money and it’s a shame that people do that. Took me 4 dentist before one sat down, looked at the issue and gave me a solution instead of a temporary bandaid. AND....he did all the work for free so I can enlist in the military with no issues.
It would be irresponsible for a dentist to tell people "you know pick the option that is cheapest". Crowns are not a permanent fix, they last 10-15 years. If they cant be replaced then the only option is implant or some sort of denture. Sure a veneer might have you back in 15-20 years too, but they can usually very easily be replaced with more venners, and youre actually just replacing the failing venner material not the tooth. Worse case scenario you need a crown that will then last another 15 years. So by going veneer youre talking about something lasting worst case scenario 10 years, to something worst case scenario lasting 25, but maybe 35 years worst case. This is why they should reccomend this kind of approach to you.
We charge the same in our office for veneers and crowns. This allows us to always give our patients the very best for their particular situation. - Dr. O
I’m sorry, I completely understand. I was never taken when I was a kid and once I was finally able to afford to go on my own when I was 19, it was a lot. 7k later lol
You gotta look at it this way, at least you're taking care of it now! It's way better than not having teeth. It's worth taking care of from this point on 😊🙌
When I got married I started going to my Wife's dentist. It didn't take long before I realized he was more into selling unnessicary hi profit procedures than honest care. Constantly telling me I needed this or that, while ignoring 2 years of pain as "not flossing well enough". I got a second opinion from a DDS who found a severe abscess in my jaw. He also sold my then 79 year old father in law a mouth full of crowns that looked ridiculous. Like bright white chicklets for several thousand dollars. Lesson- do you research and find a reputable dentist and stick with him or her.
I was being sarcastic for effect. We charge the same for both so your statement about me trying to sell people is incorrect. I simply want people to get better care by not having so much of their tooth drilled away if they don’t have to. This was the point of the video.
@@InnovativeDentalofSpringfield I wasn't directing my comment at your honesty and genuine care. Your video was very helpful. I was describing bad experiences with one Dentist. There are many like him as others could likely attest to. Fortunately, Dentists like this are in the minority.
Not too sure there are any reputable dentist around anymore. I've noticed for at least 30 years dentist seem to always push the expensive fix even if it's not warranted.
I've had all three suggestions for my "chipped"/fractured front tooth. I did composite from the time I fractured my front tooth until I was 18-19 years old. I'd have to get it redone at least 3-4 times a year. Finally I got a veneer done and from then until I was 23 it would pop off at least once a year. My old dentist retired the year after I got the veneer done and the last time it popped off my new dentist and I agreed that enough was enough and I went ahead with doing a crown. Not only does the crown look and feel at a whole lot better, but it also feels so much more stronger than when I had the veneer. I think it's very dependent case by case on whether or not a veneer or crown would be best. In my case, the crown was the better option.
Glad it has worked for you. I would have first checked out your bite before I ground down your tooth more for a crown. Usually if a veneer or filling keeps coming off, it is due to a poor bite or misalignment on the lower arch.
My front tooth is completely chipped. More than half of it is missing. I'm worried what will happen when i have to get the composite replaced. I don't know if i need a crown or implant because it feels a little loose. :\
What you described is truly a reality. I have been practicing 25 plus years and veneers are not always the answer and in fact rarely are the answer. Additionally a veneer in my practice cost more than a crown.
I had chipped front tooth when i was 7 years old, never got a problem like pain or loosening conditions. When i was 18, went free dental camp there they said you need to go root canal, it may worse if you not, so they made a hole cleared everything and closed with cement or something, but it went of next day. Hole got opened never went doctor again because of no money. Now my age 28 So real problem started 4 years ago, tooth becoming black slowly, sometimes i feel embarrass so finally i visited doctor 1 week ago started treatment to get a crown...
I’ve worked in the healthcare sector for 25 years so I love to see healthcare professionals who are passionate and innovative. Thinking outside the box to improve life for your patients is really exciting. Wishing you continued success. Also I wish you would expand to Ireland we need improvement in our dental sector.
I like that you're a medical professional that has morals beyond your wallet. I used to work in a pharmacy as the lead tech and kept our store number one in the district and would still constantly get into trouble for letting people know that they didn't always have to buy those outrageously expensive medications that would do more harm than good in some situations..I left because I started realizing that I had different morals than that industry. It's funny how most medical and pharmaceutical professionals will almost always take care of their own wallet first and recommend the expensive treatment that isn't always 100% necessary rather than looking out for the patients best interests in all aspects. You, sir, deserve a slow clap.
This is so true. I just recently had an extraction on last Monday and on that same day. My dentist ofc and telling me that I need a root canal and crown and they schdeuled for 09/04. I dont know about that.
@@InnovativeDentalofSpringfield Speaking of shady. Quite a lot of places just immediately check if you have your wisdom teeth and mark them for removal even when there's nothing wrong with them. They get quite disappointed when you refuse after repeatedly being pushed to remove them.
Hello. I am a dentist and I have a question about veneer case you posted. Veneers don't bond well to the teeth that are missing enamel. In your example, it looks like most enamel was decayed and removed. Are you not worried about veneers bonded to core build up or dentin?
Ren G. Its not for being care for $$ its for doing a treatment that it’s proven that will last and work. Unfortunately the more cracked or decayed a tooth is the more difficult it’s to predict how it will respond the tooth nerve. The thing is you can do a treatment like this with a 40% of success ratio or make root canal treatment in the needed teeth and then go for crown and expect a 99% success ratio. At the end you could end paying 2 times. The patient is the one that takes the risk, not the dentist. That’s the reason that the majority of dentists go for something that it’s proven that will work. But hey if you want to ending paying 2 times... we’ll it’s your choice. Maybe works, maybe not.
6 years and going strong without root canals needed. If you have a con beam 3D, then check the endo, success is somewhere around 60% if you classify success as no radiolucient lesson.
@@InnovativeDentalofSpringfield Can an adult 30+ actually get braces or anything to fix a bite? I have a severe problem with an overbite where my bottom teeth have ground into my top ones, causing pain and tooth wear. I'm trying to figure out what my options would be. Can they extend my rear molars with a composite to add some height to my bite?
@@StreetWorksMedia I have never seen anyone that did not have an overbite or an underbite. It would be strange to see someone who, when they close their mouth, their front teel clamp together perfectly flush. Therefore, your problem may be hat you don't have enough of an overbite, not that you have an overbite.
@@kriswhite91What dentist conned you into thinking crowns are 99% successful? The less tooth structure you remove the longer your teeth will last . Drilling for crowns damages nerves often leading to nerve death, abscess and root canals. Crowned teeth usually get decayed underneath because you can't clean them and they can't be remineralized by saliva. If you get an onlay, ,filling or veneer, you're far less likely to have your tooth die which then requires root canals which get dangerous infections. The basic principle is that it's best to preserve as much tooth structure as possible. Dentists make far more money from crowns than fillings or onlays. They also make more money from crowns because crowning leads to needing future expensive work.
This guy looooves his job!!! I would be willing to drive to MO for him to do my teeth. I'm in Fayetteville NC. Hard to find someone who is honest enough and TALENTED enough like this guy.
LoL @ AlternativeSand YT , Dr. O explained what that was about on one of his vids, it's a TV room and the high speed video he's using makes the lights inside that room flicker behind the glass doors 😊
You should shop around! To tell you the truth, most dentists are transparent as there are usually charging the fee guide pricing. Some dentists also offer payment plans at little to no interest. Most dentists are pretty flexible 😊🙌
I hear you. 90% of dentists in the U.S. are just looking to make a fast buck. Drill, fill, and bill. Try starting a dental savings account and put a little in it each paycheck! Hope it helps.

To all future dentist out there , this Dr SHOULD be your model. Otherwise you still have the chance to shift to other courses many souls will thank you later. -just my2 cents
Agree. Most dentists become theves and are the main reason why teeth cant last through your entire life. Low morale standards in the entire profession due to the massive amount of money involved. It is a mystery to me why policy makers havent intervened yet.
One success story does not mean all cases are a success story. I would like to see dozens of patient, randomly chosen, before accepting his ideas about dental treatment. He may be a good dentist but he also seems like a better salesman
Thanks for explaining this. In July 2020 I broke one of my back teeth & we were in lockdown, so it took 8 months of going back & forth to my dentist getting filling etc. I got my crown fitted in March last year. Last week I was brushing my teeth & I used salty water as I had a sore mouth & had the dentist that day. My crown fell out my mouth & went down the sink. My tooth was drilled down to make way for the crown. He said just leave it or get it taken out. I'm so unhappy that it didn't even last a year. 😔😔
Your channel is brilliant! Thank you for your incredible information. My front are all crowned, with 2 implants, and a bridge. Teeth history I had massive erosion and decay throughout my mouth. Its been a rough couple of years. But officially I am now a regular patient with a beautiful healthy white smile 😃
I’m a semester away from starting medical school. I wasn’t really excited before but I love how you talked about dentistry like sculpting it’s really cool
Kinda pissed bc when I was 18 a dentist I went to see took advantage of my lack of knowledge and gave me a root canal for a tooth that could've been fixed with a filling bc of the "possibilites" now I'm trying to replace a missing tooth:-/ wish I seen this video years ago
Right before the Covid clusterpoop that claimed far too many lives, and disrupted ever more, I had a big box dentist tell me I needed 2 root canals. I had no pain, no sensitivity, no issues at all, but the x-rays revealed a very large and deep cavity in one tooth near the gum line, and another tooth with a significantly smaller spot at the gum line. I have had nothing but trouble with the tooth/fit of the crown that had the smaller cavity, and I now wonder if I even needed the root canal at all.
dentist just shaved off too much of my molar teeth now there’s sharp pain and it’s super hypersensitive every time I bite down on hard stuff... no problems before
Now here's a dentist that goes far and beyond to research, study and give his patients the best solution!...Should be more dentist like you...God bless and much prosperity!
Thank you for your professionalism and honesty. Unfortunately, I have had terrible experiences with dentists and can’t find an honest, knowledgeable one in New York. If I could, I would fly to your clinic!
a root canal is a $1000 in the US? that is really expensive, it is $50 to a $100 here in Jordan. now I know why you don't have universal health care in America lol 😂 we don't have universal health care either but at least health care is affordable here.
In Malaysia it cost only RM 1 = 0.25 cent US dollars in a public hosp (private hosp probably pretty much the same price as any other country) , the rest of the payment Subsidized by our government for the citizen.
Just watching it makes my eyes tear up.I dream about beautiful smile.I'm 46 but when I was a teen they pulled 3 of my teeth without even giving it any thought, now I need another tooth pulled because I found out from another dentist that the previous one butchered a root canal. Where were you when I was younger? I gave up on so many of my dreams because of being ashamed of my smile but trying to do any work now when dental covers maybe one crown a year, how do I fix my front teeth and make them all look white when I can only do one tooth a year? Your job must be so rewarding!
I love his enthusiasm (very exceptional), but root canals are a problem. Still, he's at the head of the pack. Very knowledgeable and thinks outside the box.
@@AtlantaBill I don't think it is outside the box. He just uses his brain and he has experience. His way of thinking is the right, save as much tooth structure as you can and help. I just hope that he keeps his positivity and way of work through the years.
This guy seems honest. Maybe I'm just unlucky because I had a dentist that was "crown happy". It got so bad when he wanted to do another one that I went to another dentist. He said a crown wasn't necessary. I sure wish I saw this video first. Thank you for posting it. I'm now a subscriber.

Since when do we treat based off of what someone behind a desk thinks. Health is far more important. Grinding away tooth structure because insurance pays more does not make sense to me and I wouldn't do that to myself.
My front teeth filling got discolor, could you please give me a solution! I'm 25 and unmarried.. I often cry because i can't laugh in from of people and always try to avoid people and try to stay at home....
My dentist did crowns when I went for veneers. Now I’m needed to get implants one by one because he took so much of my tooth structure. Nightmare There were 100% healthy teeth. I was trusting my dentist to be inging the veneers. When I saw what he did, I dried. He took my six front teeth to nubs. I have had problems since then w crowns falling off.. then breaking and now I need implants.
@@THEISAAC1593 no they were not bad at all! I had one tooth that was a tad askew that bothered my mom. My dad was in the hospital and ended up passing a couple weeks later. The dentist said he could do veneers but did crowns. Last time I was in his office, he got out of the room fast. How could a dentist grind anyone teeth down. I remember that moment seeing what he did. Each time a crown is changed it takes a little more structure. Each dentist wants to shape it to suit their taste. Eventually there is not much and the tooth breaks.. even though still completely healthy underneath. My six front teeth were good. It was a bad decision. All these young people getting veneers will regret it in 20 30 years when they have to keep replacing the veneers or crowns. Why and how can dentists even grind teet down like that. Is it all greed?
Thank you so much for doing this video. I recently had a composite with an existing tooth fragment which was an angular frontal Chip 0 to 2 mm front left to center that failed. The original composite lasted thirty years without decay, root failure or discoloration. Every single dentist I have visited wanted to cap my front tooth. (Central Florida) finally found a reputable composite dentist ,and voilà they were able to transform a very healthy tooth back to a condition that was indeed “cosmetic” ,but returned all the benefits of not grinding down a normal tooth without side effects. Yes, I won’t be ripping any potato chip bags open with this tooth. But I am left with a healthy frontal tooth structure that in the future I can change if needed instead of something that is irreversible.
Yes this video helped so much! Lots of dentist want to cut straight to crowns or root canal especially if you don’t have that much money. But thanks for the honesty!
Greetings from Belgrade, Serbia. I am watching your videos, and I just want to thank you a lot for posting them ! Can you please explain, were you talking here about composite filling veneers, or ceramic veneers? I am asking because my dentist is suggesting that I should make crowns on my front teeth, ( because during the years, and a lot of my front teeth repairment, I have lost of lot of tooth enamel... There is almost more composite fillings from the back side of my front teeth , than tooth enamel ), but as a " cheeper " variant, my dentist says , that solution would be - composite filling veneers. My biggest fear about putting crowns in my front teeth is - that in a period of 10 years or so, I would lose my front teeth ... Thank you in advance !
I’m 23 dealing with horrible teeth because my dentist crowned all my teeth at a young age and I haven’t been again since I was 15 due to family issues growing up mainly but now I’m terrified of what my consultation would look like honestly I wish I could find someone as knowledgeable as you in my area.
Eat high quality organic and grass fed foods to remineralize your teeth and a Megahome water distiller and a timer helps and make your own remineralization powder
I wish I would’ve known this along time ago and done more research before I went to the dentist I went to. I had of chipped front tooth and immediately they suggested a crown shaved it down and crowned it as they were examining my mouth I had a fractured tooth in the back they shaved that one down and put a crown they also drilled out silver filling and replaced it with a white to match the rest of my teeth and doing all this they nicked me a few times and I didn’t feel the pain but did after the numbness wore off. I’m still very young and so sad that I don’t have my two valuable teeth anymore they are both super sensitive to even just air it angers me and I am disappointed… your information is good to know thank you.
Thanks so much for this video. It's so refreshing to hear your perspective. I came up during an awful time in dentistry in New York City I think, where dentists usually took the worst case scenario approach. I'm paying for it now in big bucks to correct my teeth and structure. I have so much tooth and gun damage, and shifting, from excessive fillings, extractions, root canals, etc. over the years. Soon we will be addressing a tiny chip I've been carrying in my front chopper tooth (this tooth is the sister of my favorite 2 front teeth). I refused any dentist who tried to touch it. It's barely visible, however, I know I have to get to it. Now I'm working with a dentist I trust and when we get to that tooth I'll be sure to bring this up. Great info here.
I agree with this, after I learned a very expensive lesson! In 2002, I had my 10 front teeth crowned. Otherwise healthy teeth, but severe tetracycline staining (dull grey, lifeless looking teeth). I initially wanted veneers, my dentist told me it's too hard to cover that dark of staining without porcelain crowns. I ended up choosing the Captek, a gold crown with porcelain bonded to the front. In just 3 short years, my Canine #11 just broke off at the gumline like a piece of wet chalk. A root canal was attempted, and it was so decayed that the only solution was am implant. Since I was already paying for a total of 14 crowns...on an installment loan, I had to decline. A flipper was the temporary solution. Then, every single year until 2015, one by one, even after 6 month check ups and x-rays, they kept breaking off, they had all become brittle and decayed "under" the crown. So, new partial denture in 2007, another new partial in 2008 due to more missing teeth, and the cycle went on until I eventually lost every single crown ever put on. And the real tooth underneath was lost as well, including two that had root canals and were murder to get all the root fragments out. My partial dentures still look 100% better than my real teeth did back then with all the tetracycline, but I surely went the long and expensive way around. Implants financially were out of the question. Bridges? I have way too many missing teeth now for that. Maybe someday, an all-on-four type implant denture. In talking about my problem, I found out that about 6 people that I know well...also ended up losing their teeth completely after aggressive crowning that was initially sought out as a cosmetic fix for unsightly teeth. I never had any dental insurance at all, so this was all out of pocket, my MasterCard was my dental insurance. Great videos here!
Mann these so called dentists r fd up. All they care about is getting paid as much as possible & getting u out of their office as quick as possible. I been in pain and supposed to have gotten an extraction for over a year now and My insurance keeps referring me to places that either claim they recently stopped doing extractions for ppl over 21 years old or they tryna over charge me WHEN my insurance says they cover it. I been getting this feeling like all these places r tryna get money out of the customers pocket of the insurance is not paying the price that they demanding & I got a feeling they r trying to overcharge the insurance companies. 1 dentist tried to charge me 185 for an extraction and at the same time told me they were not taking my insurance anymore because they were being audited by my insurance company. Trust was a red flag and made me not trust them especially since my insurance said they were not supposed to charge me out of pocket. I be asking myself: why does a person go thru what all the things they have to go thru to become a dentist, teacher, firefighter, etc.., if they don’t even have a passion for that career. If all u wanted to do was have a get rich quick scheme u should choose a field that doesn’t jeopardize ppls livelihoods & well-being
I had one of my canine teeth crowned until it was extracted because my teeth is crowded due to wisdom tooth growing behind and it was the weakest link. It was still strong and no problem at all when it was extracted and I never regret it. I was a nut eater and I don’t think that veneer would last that long if I keep on eating nuts. It was a zirconium crown and I really picked the strongest one because I’m scared to loose my tooth again. I will never pick veneer because I don’t think that it’s strong enough. Just sharing because there are also horror stories behind veneers.
hi. I had root canal treatment. Just curious why do my side of gum still feel very sensitive to touch after doing the treatment? Is it something to worry about? Should I consult another dentist?
I was in the same spot as you. I had a root canal on my #14 molar and still experienced sensitivity. The issue was a small crack on the corner of the cusp. It was extremely difficult to locate. When the cracked part-of the tooth would move, it would cause irritation of the gum and periodontal tissue.
This is definitely making me rethink things. My dentist wants to do crowns on my four front teeth and the two canines. The reason for the front is because I’ve had the fillings redone a number of times and he says there is not much tooth to work with and the existing fillings are leaking. There is absolutely no reason to crown the canine teeth. The dentist prior to him suggested a bridge on the front. I’ve been in and out of dentist chairs since the age of 17 when I saved money and took myself to the dentist. I’d like to keep as many of my teeth as possible. I’m concerned.
I recently went to the dentist and they had suggested getting a crown on my front tooth. I didn't think anything of it as well I trusted the dentist. I had a small chip in my front tooth from when I chipped it in the third grade ( 10 years ago) and it was fixed with a filling. They had said that there were cracks on my front tooth and the best option would be a crown. I was wondering if I choose the wrong choice. If I did is there anything I can do about it? Thanks in advance. EDIT: Mind you the chip was on the edge of my front tooth
This is really similar to my situation, I also had a small chip in my two front teeth and was encouraged to get a crown. I currently have the temporary crowns in today, and watching videos like this is making me feel like I may have made the wrong choice... how did your crowns turn out?
@@jessicam8671 I'm beginning to think that getting a crown is the go-to for a majority of dentists out there. My situation had a front tooth with decay in a small area and a small chip near the gumline. However, getting a crown was the first thing mentioned. Watching this is making me believe that I probably didn't need something so extreme like that. So when I go to my dentist again, I will have a chat with him about other options that don't take it so far. He wants to place crowns on all my front teeth, but I don't think that's necessary. I think he does it because a lot of people don't know what their other options are.
No you don't! Crowns cost upwards of $2,500.00 apiece in the U.S. and dental insurance only covers cleanings. That's why many Americans go to Mexico for their dental work. Dentistry is the most profitable of all of the medical professions. Their profits are UNBELIEVABLE. They are extremely greedy. It's morally reprehensible the amount of profit they make.
Yea honestly this dentist in my opinion has no dam clue what he is talking about saying don't ever crown teeth? I get that he's saying but yea I have 3 crowns and I have no issues. Omg!I love your honesty! My dentist crowned my 2 front teeth. One had bad decay and the other was perfectly fine. The dentist told me she'd had to crown both front teeth not just one! Now I'm in shock that that wasn't even necessary! For 2 crowned teeth I paid more than $1,000. What a thief that she STOLE! 😭
I totally agree. My mother was raised in Costa Rica in poverty and also has bad genetics when it comes to her teeth. When I was 5 we got into an accident and she lost a few teeth when they hit the steering wheel. She was only 40 years old and the genius she went to suggested pulling all her teeth pretty much said it was her only option. My mother had all her teeth pulled not knowing any better and has had dentures ever since. I am now 31 years of age and am suffering from her bad genetics and am broke being that I live in New York my whole life and come from nothing and have had some unfortunate events in my life that have always prevented me from having the extra money to fix my teeth. I wish there was something I could do to fix my smile b4 I end up like my mom. I'm only 31 and have held back from so many things in life, like getting married because I'm hoping to have my teeth fixed first, but like I said I just simply don't have the money.
In the meantime do whats best for your oral health ... switch to a fresh veggie diet - broccoli spinach kale moong sprouts and oats plus berries oranges bananas apples etc. and make sure to clean your mouth with a soft bristle brush after every meal or at least rinse with salt water and at night time use some herbs to clean your teeth - look up Patanjali toothpaste or you can just use a mixture of one teaspoon pure mustard oil + half teaspoon salt+ a pinch of turmeric at night before bedtime. Also use clove oil at the bad spots, exercise regularly, deep breathing and meditation. The current modern lifestyle has ruined people's health.
Listen... you can get your teeth done in Europe. And the whole thing with the flights and stay included will cost you so much less than just dental work in the US. Also try coconut oil pulling.
This sounds like a video for Dentists! In my experience, if I go into a Dentist and tell them I don’t want a crown they will tell me what they are going to do or I can go to another Dentist. I understand what you are explaining, but being the patient we don’t tell them what we want.
This man is honest. Twice two dentists lied to me. I got a second opinion from other dentists. There is not that much "innovation" in modern dentistry because dentists are too busy ripping people off. What is also common is when they do not drill out all the decay and then put on a filling. Years later the tooth rots from the inside. That also happened to me.
My dentist wants to crown four of my top teeth. Because the composite filling he’s using keeps coming out and that’s the back side. So I’m kind of confused. You’re saying to ask him about veneers first correct?
I just wish you would mention ur prices when talking about all of this I would really like to get my top teeth fixed but I know it’s gonna be expensive
Dr. Olson... thank you so much for educating us. I just found your channel and your mannerism and personality reminds me of my son who passed away 5 yrs ago. Im now a new subscriber.
I had an implant a couple weeks ago and they put an implant that doesn’t match. How can I darken an acrylic temporary tooth? Until the implant is ready for a crown
man seeing that mouth makes me question my dentist sugestion of root canal, i mean i have a spot on the flat part of a upper fang , he yanked it numerous times with the hoock thing and nothing , no pain, sudenly i felt something not pain per se, just unconfort, he took it like the pulp was infected, but i have no pain in the tooth, my guess is that the decay is near the nerve but not actaully reached it and my guess is that with a filling it should be fine for a few years, what do you guys think, should i go to second opinion?
Nothing wrong with getting a second opinion. When you have an intrusion into the nerve or pulp you will have pain the moment it happens and it won't go away. I know because I cracked a tooth. Even then my dentist tried a filling first, he said sometimes it works and sometime it doesn't. Unfortunately for me, it didn't work and I needed a root canal and crown.

Mario Sances you‘re right for my point of view. But in the video he first restored the teeth with composite (said it himself and you can see a huge difference) after removing decay. After that he made the veneers and how did he bonded them to the teeth ?
The composite was used to build up the teeth after the decay removal. The margins were not composite but were enamel. These restorations have been on for more than 6 years now without any issues.
Hey there! I already have a crown done, but I would like to know your opinion... I broke off half of the bottom of my tooth located next to my main two front teeth. My dentist told me the reason I needed the crown wasn’t because of the break at the bottom, rather I also had a slight fracture towards the top of the tooth as well . Was he correct?
I've had a chipped tooth that took away about a quarter of my second molar on the bottom right of my mouth and I got a crown for it. you only mention that a crown is bad for front teeth but what about molars?
have NMO that causes gastroparesis. The frequent vomiting was destroying the back of my front teeth. My dentist and I decided that putting crowns on them was my best option as obviously my NMO isn’t going to just “go away” and there was no other way to protect my front teeth for. All the vomiting.
Honestly, I am traumatised and distraught, I feel so upset. My dentist has ruined my teeth. I am so vigorously upset about my tooth loss due to my dentists poor handiwork
I had the unfortunate to go to a dentist who ruined the beauty of my old teeth. First of all, my health insurance covered 7,000 and I will have to pay 5,000. Anyway, the dentist decided to crown my front teeth and make one root canal, so in total, she took care of 5 teeth. I liked the temporary teeth crown because they looked just like mine but the permanent crowns were a complete disaster. She cut shorter the wrong front tooth and I look so weird now and when I told her that she had made a huge mistake she walked away from me and I was left by myself. At first, I thought she had switched the front teeth, but the secretary explained to me that it is impossible because when the tooth impression is made there is no way to place a wrong tooth instead. I got the conclusion that if my two front teeth were not switched, then the dentist most likely shorted the left front tooth too much and now I look weird. I regretted the day I met this dentist. I hope you can say something about my unfortunate experience. Thank you so much. Show less
Dr. O. I enjoyed watching this video and your expertise. I slightly chipped my left front tooth. It is crooked and slightly overlaps my front right tooth. Braces from 9 yrs old to 18 and still crooked; 56yrs old now. Due to grinding my teeth and tmj, I caught my bottom teeth on that front left and now has a horizontal crack line below the nerve. The nerve is alive and well. Just got back from the endodontist, nice guy, recommending a pro active root canal and then back to my dentist to do a crown. Your thoughts? I appreciate your advice and expertise. Much gratitude. 🙏
Dr. D

Thank you for that comment.
What did they do?
Bless his heart
- Dr. O

That would almost be true unless we charge the same amount for both. Huh.

I have a naturally small front tooth. My dentist made it look bigger by using filler. This was 20 years ago and still looks great!
Has the coloring changed of the filler?
It's still intact woww magic
Does it look natural and feel close to natural

Hello. I am a dentist and I have a question about veneer case you posted. Veneers don't bond well to the teeth that are missing enamel. In your example, it looks like most enamel was decayed and removed. Are you not worried about veneers bonded to core build up or dentin?
Yes,you are TRUE and professional stomatologist.People who are your clients are blessed to have you.
Greetings from Croatia🤗
Can you be my dentist?! Finally someone that actually cares about people not $$

I hope i get a dentist like you, not someone just trying to do unnecessary bs at the expense of my teeth

This is absolutely horrible! I’m sorry you hd to go through that
Mann these so called dentists r fd up. If all u wanted to do was have a get rich quick scheme u should choose a field that doesn’t jeopardize ppls livelihoods & well-being
The lesson is to not rush into things. Read some books by dentists and watch some videos before making a decision.
Just sharing because there are also horror stories behind veneers.
i love smart dentist!
Now your snart dentist
This was really GOOD information! So glad to know there are options to having crowns. Thank you!

If you can keep the teeth thar you were born with do just that.
So what happened?
@@Magestrix That's true and make sure, if you can, to get other opinions from other dentists

This is great information! Iay need to go in for a de talk treatment like this soon, and this helped! Thank you Dr O.
I wish I lived in the US I need to see you, you could solve all my teeth issues!
I got a front crown 15 years ago...the best thing i ever did
Yea honestly this dentist in my opinion has no dam clue what he is talking about saying don't ever crown teeth? I get that he's saying but yea I have 3 crowns and I have no issues. Some dentist have different opinions and that's fine. Can you image if there was no crowns in dentistry. We would all be fkd lol
Andrew Sanchez he did not say “don’t ever” crown teeth. He gave examples when he would.

That would be awesome. Looking forward to it.
How are your front teeth doing now?
How was it now?

WHERE are you personally located. I want u as my dentist. I've had bad experiences with dentist..really bad
The drum track creates the same mood that car salesmen use, when they want you to sign up for car payments.
This sounds like a video for Dentists! In my experience, if I go into a Dentist and tell them I don’t want a crown they will tell me what they are going to do or I can go to another Dentist. I understand what you are explaining, but being the patient we don’t tell them what we want.
I wish every dentist will be honest like this guy. I am sure I have been overcharged many times. Where is his practice located?
is there any update 2019 of this patient?
This man is honest. Twice two dentists lied to me. I got a second opinion from other dentists. There is not that much "innovation" in modern dentistry because dentists are too busy ripping people off. What is also common is when they do not drill out all the decay and then put on a filling. Years later the tooth rots from the inside. That also happened to me.
for me with cavities, my fillings were loose. they said I need a crown because the cavities were bad. what do you think?
My dentist wants to crown four of my top teeth. Because the composite filling he’s using keeps coming out and that’s the back side. So I’m kind of confused. You’re saying to ask him about veneers first correct?
I just wish you would mention ur prices when talking about all of this I would really like to get my top teeth fixed but I know it’s gonna be expensive
Great video by an honest Dentist. If only all Dentists were like this.

Great video! Any chance of video of composite filling vs amalgam? Thanks. I am thinking about replacing my old metal fillings with composites.
I had an implant a couple weeks ago and they put an implant that doesn’t match. How can I darken an acrylic temporary tooth? Until the implant is ready for a crown
My guess would be tea or coffee.

i crowned mine because i never took good care of my teeth and they were always yellow and i wanted a good smile.
How are they now?
man seeing that mouth makes me question my dentist sugestion of root canal, i mean i have a spot on the flat part of a upper fang , he yanked it numerous times with the hoock thing and nothing , no pain, sudenly i felt something not pain per se, just unconfort, he took it like the pulp was infected, but i have no pain in the tooth, my guess is that the decay is near the nerve but not actaully reached it and my guess is that with a filling it should be fine for a few years, what do you guys think, should i go to second opinion?
Nothing wrong with getting a second opinion. When you have an intrusion into the nerve or pulp you will have pain the moment it happens and it won't go away. I know because I cracked a tooth. Even then my dentist tried a filling first, he said sometimes it works and sometime it doesn't. Unfortunately for me, it didn't work and I needed a root canal and crown.
@@madmatt2024 thanks , yeah i already did look for 2nd , he told me something similar to what i tought, x ray , and evaluation, can be repaired but its close to the nerve, its a hit or miss, but it was not the "kill it " that the other "doctor "suggested" , god damm thieves
I would love to have this gentleman as my Dentist.

But how would you bond the Veneers to the composite which is on the teeth after the restoring ? So which product you are jusing?
You cant.... Veneers require enamel
This is the best information I've ever heard.
I've had a chipped tooth that took away about a quarter of my second molar on the bottom right of my mouth and I got a crown for it. you only mention that a crown is bad for front teeth but what about molars?
Crowns are usually recommended for molars
Hey man, thanks for the video. Is it safer to have an implant than a root canal ?
have NMO that causes gastroparesis. The frequent vomiting was destroying the back of my front teeth. My dentist and I decided that putting crowns on them was my best option as obviously my NMO isn’t going to just “go away” and there was no other way to protect my front teeth for. All the vomiting.
I feel traumatized by a dentist who has taken a lot of tooth bone. So now I am very picky about my dental work.

Dr. 🙏
