  • Before you get Dental Veneers watch this! I'll go over the pros and cons and your alternatives to veneers. Veneers are not for everyone so the better informed you are the better your choice will be.
    WHAT ARE VENEERS?
Veneers are thin shell covering made from durable, long-lasting material covering the front part of your teeth. Your dentist will shave down the shape of your natural teeth to attach the veneers with dental cement.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR VENEERS?
You may be a good candidate if you have discoloration, and whitening hasn’t been effective. Some may want to close spaces between their front teeth.
    TYPES OF VENEERS
There are various types of veneers with various materials. The most common types are porcelain (or ceramic) and composite veneers.
THE PROS AND CONS OF DENTAL VENEERS
    THE PROS
    Veneers create beautiful esthetic smiles.
Veneers can dramatically change the appearance of teeth after trauma or chipping.
They are the best solution for a white smile if your teeth are discolored.
Veneers are extremely stain-resistant and durable.
    THE CONS
Your veneers won’t last long if you develop gum recession and gum disease as you age.
They’re expensive and aren’t covered by insurance.
Veneers need to be replaced every 10-15 years.
Prepping for veneers involves the removal of enamel. So the effects are permanent.
You can’t whiten veneers, so if your natural teeth change in shade, you will have to get a new set to match the shade.

Super helpful! I had double jaw surgery with a 3 segment lefort on top. My ortho team has done what they can, but I have a couple decent gaps they just can’t close without messing with my brand new bite. I was debating between bonding/composite veneers and porcelain, and you definitely helped me decide that porcelain is probably right for me.

I have had the same beautiful set of porcelain veneers for 26 years. This year, I have decided to replace them due to some gum recession. Being 63 years old, I hope this set will last as long as my current set has. Chances are, they will outlast me!

@@dianewebb3343 There is no reason that they will not last 20+ years if they are properly set. Mine would have lasted much longer had my gums not receeded. They had to really fight to get them off! I got the new set last Thursday and they look great. Also, my dentist basically has a "bumper to bumper" guarantee on them for the 1st 5 years as long as you are in every 6 months for cleanings. This is the same dentist office that set my first veneers...only now the son has taken over.

So, it sound like you haven't invested in a cad cam like Cerec which also is enhanced with cone beam 3 d imaging. Impression trays and outside labs are not an option for my dentistry. I like your explanation of candidates. I would agree that labs can do a great job and using high tech dental equipment isn't for every dentist. My dentist has 15+ years in using high tech equipment to treatment plan and mill his own lab materials, so that is my preferred option. Also, it is done with less visits.

Hey everyone. If you think of getting veneers, i just want to tell you that there is always a risk that it can go wrong. My dentist did a mistake and all my 4 front teeth died. I had extrem pain, nobody took me serious in the beginning, and now all 4 teeth are dead and i am in pain since 2 years. So really think about the risk even if it's not common. If you have a nice smile, but nothing you can smile about anymore because you are suffering all day long and pain killers don't work, than it isn't worth it! If you are young and really want to change the look of your teeth, look for non-prep veneers!

I have had one issue with one of the composites where it chipped and had to be built up again. With regular brushing, flossing, and cleanings, they haven't required any other work. My issue isn't with the composites themselves, but teeth next to them that have hairline cracks and need veneers. I'm going to replace the composites with the veneers to have a more cohesive smile.

I am absolutely terrified of shaving down my teeth for any cosmetic dentistry. There are pros & cons for all the options just gotta do extensive research, watch plenty vids * testimonials & choose what may work for you. Im looking towards composite bonding to build slightly on my teeth without any shaving. It looks nice & natural in many cases. Cons? it may be too bulky, unnatural looking, & yes i know it stains, fades, wear down over time ( lifespan about 5-10 years) but id prefer this over the risk of long lasting tooth pain and dead teeth. Also everyone's dental habits are different, im hoping with my diet and how i eat & care for my teeth; it will give me a good run with the bonding.

Don’t trust this dentist. The orthodontic treatment aligns and keeps your teeth alive and in good condition. The veneers is like a prostatic member. They shave and drill your teeth leaving a small teeth like a grain of rice and cover it. This needs to be fixed every 10 years ($$$) and there is no turning back to natural teeth once the teeth is shaved and drilled. Teeth don’t grow forever like hair.

@@jaaanifer7293 Thanks for this comment, I agree 100% with you. A person must be CRAZY or VERY IGNORANT to let somebody ---- (a $$$ hungry "dentist")--- DESTROY their natural teeth by shaving and drill your theeth. Veneers requires a PERMANENT DESTRUCTION OF YOUR TEETH! Don't do it!

@@jaaanifer7293 I think you are referring to crowns. Veneers do require taking off a very small layer of enamel but not the amount you are talking about. The filing down to chicklets thing is what you do to prep for crowns.

Get root canal first that’s included in the total Dental procedure cause it will be a need and then insurance will pay it

Do you have veneers? Your teeth are extremely white. What shade is usually recommended for 6 veneers? The bleaching shades are so popular but I wouldn't want it to be obvious they're not real.

Ive had my veneers for over a decade, as my 2 side teeth didnt grow in right. So had these 2 veneers at side with these black/silver plates stuck to back of 2 front teeth, making your 2 front teeth darker! So I got 2 veneers on my front teeth too! 10 yr later, I'm asking to get these replaced as I just dont like them and probably lost shape since. So i'm booked in to get new veneers, which dont have the black/silver plates sticking to back of front teeth, they'd be white so front teeth dont look as dark.I didn't know whether to have whitening aswell though, as obviously this'll cost even more. Would you sugest to get whitening too? I'm starting to think just go for it.

In my country the most expensive veneers, the porcelain ones, cost only about 400 USD per tooth. Other dental procedures are also much cheaper compared with prices in the US. People from the US actually come here for dental work.
