My Nannie made this growing up. Her recipe is different though. Hers is 2 cups of milk, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/3 cup flour, 2 tbsp unsweetened Hershey’s cocoa, and 1/2 cup evaporated milk. The evaporated milk makes the difference between most chocolate gravy’s. Takes about 10 minutes to thicken up, but like all gravy, you must continuously stir so it doesn’t scorch and the chocolate doesn’t create lumps.
Teresa Bown I would put it on medium heat high enough to make it bubble and boil just a little bit and stir, stir stir. Stirring will keep it from building up on the bottom of the pan and also keep lumps from forming. I like using a whisk with that rubber stuff on it when I make gravies so I can scrape bottom constantly too without scratching my pan. I hope this helps and I’m right. If not someone please correct me. I hope it turns out well for you.
My dad wanted this before he passed away. I called everyone I knew and looked on line trying to find a recipe. This was 19 yrs ago . Well I have the recipe now and I’m going to try this . My family's recipe starts with the milk and sugar in a pot, then the cocoa powder and then the thickener...boil until desired consistency and shut off the heat. Then add the vanilla extract and butter at the end just before serving over hot biscuits. Takes less time than starting with the roux.

My grandma use to make this for us when we would visit her in Kentucky! I loved it my husband thought we were all crazy until he tasted it!! BTW you still are and always will be beautiful ❤️
I'm from Kentucky and my Mom fixed chocolate gravy for us when I grew up. I made it for my children and grandchildren. Now I make it for my great grandchildren. We love it.
Yes Ms Paula, sometimes I do feel "un-pretty", especially since I'm not going anywhere due to this shelter in place. One day, I just got up and went to wash my face as normal and ended up doing a full facial treatment on myself, tweezed my brows, and then went to playing in my makeup. I had on a full face of makeup and got dressed. I went to Walmart. 😁😂😂😂
Well... that sounds just wonderful right about now! I could use a home spa day and I think I'm gonna do it today! I only have to go to Wagreens, but I might as well try to be the best lookin' gal in there! Thank you Ms. Cynthia!
Teresa johnston my grandma would make red eye gravy. Some call it striped gravy. After she cooked fresh porkchops or ham or side meat she'd save the grease or part of it with the drippings then add cup leftover coffee & let it just cook down little bit. Drizzle over your meat, potatoes, &sop biscuits in it!
Its super simple....brown a cut up hamsteak 🍖 really well on both sides...move them to a plate...add 1 cup or so of strong ☕ coffee...let it boil for a minute and add a dash of pepper. Its just the brown bits from the bottom of the pan really...mixed with coffee....but so delish. Enjoy
Soppin chocolate...!! HAHAHA..!! That's a good one . I'll have to remember this one . I love it !! I've heard soppin your biscuits in gravy before , but not soppin chocolate. Thank you for sharing that story MC W !! 😊😉
I love this gravy... I learned how to make it from my grandmother. It is so wonderful... love everyone on here. Have a beautiful Wednesday guys ❤👍. Love you bunches Paula 😘
i grew up on this and used to make it all the time. I'd suggest mix your dry ingredients together first and THEN add the butter and milk. It's a lot easier to mix that way.
My step-mom got me a square one for x-mas, but it is small - the size of a piece of Wonder bread - perfect for making a grilled cheese or for fried eggs. I haven't used it yet (shhh!) but will one day, it's cute! ✌&💞
@@TracieClaiborne they make great cornbread. I have 3 antique square cast iron skillets handed down through generations. One feels like it weighs 40 pounds..lol
My precious Mom made chocolate gravy throughout my childhood and now I make it. The only difference between then and now is using a microwave instead of on the stovetop. I use the same ingredients as you Miss Paula. I put all of the dry ingredients in a large microwave-safe bowl, whisk it to combine, pour in the milk, whisk again to make sure everything is incorporated then put it in the microwave for 5 minutes, take out and whisk, then back in the microwave for 3-4 minutes depending on your microwave. After that, be sure to use an oven mitt or potholder to remove (the mixture will be hot),add 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla, and 2-3 tablespoons of butter and whisk one last time. Another suggestion is to use a large glass bowl or pitcher with a handle. It makes it easier to grasp when taking it out. Serve over biscuits split open with pats of butter. Delicious! 😊
The first time my mother mentioned chocolate gravy I thought, "yuck!" Then she made it with fresh hot biscuits! Watch out! That's tasty stuff! So I taught my children how to make it. My son called me not too long ago and asked me for the recipe again so he could make it for his wife and kids. They're northerners, y'all know. They ain't never heard of chocolate gravy. Lol
I'm a northerner and have never heard of this!!! I grew up with a stepfather from the South so we did have some Southern foods. My mother did the cooking but he influenced some of the foods she made.
@@SB-000 My parents are both from the Columbus area of Ohio, but they moved to Texas in 1970. So I was raised here in Texas. Which, technically, isn't considered Southern. Good biscuits and chocolate gravy are so good if you hold the spoon over your head your tongue would beat a hole clean through to get to it!
First off I will be using a round pan. Then if your looking for ideas, I would like to see a fried tomato recipe. I always have trouble getting the bread crumbs to stay on while frying. Help.
I try and try to make fried chicken. Sometimes I can make okay fried chicken but it's never great. I've tried different recipes, different skillets and methods. I just cant get it right.
Omg! I love chocolate gravy and biscuits. I grew up in CA. When I married my hubby we traveled all over and lived many places. My hubby was in the Navy 24 years. I had chocolate gravy when we were stationed in South Carolina. WOW! So good! Thank you for sharing!!!!
I am one of 7 children, the oldest girl. My dad would make biscuits and chocolate gravy for us on winter mornings. Talk about good!!! My husband doesn't like it and our children are grown now so I don't make it anymore but I sure enjoyed watching you make it. And daddy made the best homemade biscuits
I have never in my old ky life, heard of this..oh it is on! I am starting a new tradition in this house of isolation..we will be feeling just fine after this one Miss Paula ..thank you! You're laughter should be bottled ..p.s. you look just fine! ..
@@cje7293 you should try it. My momma made it kind of thick & it smells incredible! She made big homemade biscuits to eat it on. Us kids called it "Chocolate Sop" cause we just put some on a plate & "sopped it up" with our biscuits. Lol
I was just telling my Dad about this the other day, we are quarantined together & he loves chocolate...he said he was leaving if I made s#!- like that! I laughed at how against it he was but neither of us have ever had it & he is almost 70, so I figure since I saw this, I am gonna try it anyway & he can go get himself a biscuit sandwich from a drive thru if he needs to, lol. We are in Indiana & I can't think of anyone I knew that grew up eating this. My mom said she & her siblings ate rice & raisins with a little milk on it {they were very poor} most mornings for breakfast. I've never heard of another soul who grew up eating that either.
@@stillstormie7222 oh yes we used to have rice with raisins! Especially if we had leftover rice. Love it! I'm 75. We'd add butter, cinnamon, vanilla, sugar,& little milk. Heat it up little if you like. And just little more milk & egg for rice pudding.
Oh that chocolate gravy looks so good on those homemade biscuits !! Miss Paula, I didn't even notice your black eye until you said something about it . Bless your heart, I hope it gets better soon . I'm so glad you and Teresa brought up the story about how you make vanilla . I never knew that you could make your own vanilla with vodka . I would love to try that !! I went in the kitchen and shared that with my husband . He thought that was very interesting too . I have a suggestion , can you fry some okra with some green tomatoes ? I love that !! I haven't fried okra with green tomatoes in a long time . You know what Miss Paula , when I was growing up my Granny always called okra ( okry ) and for years I thought that was how it was pronounced . HAHAHA...!! 😂 I still call it okry . 😉😊😁 Thank you Paula , Teresa , and Eddie for sharing another great video !! These videos always makes my day and I share them with my family and friends on Facebook everyday too . Love y'all !!! 😘❤😍
Bonnie Brown awe, my mammaw and pampaw were from Arkansas and I was raised calling okra “okri” And Missouri is “Missoura” I miss them so much, but keep them alive in my heart through cooking and memories ❤️
Those memories are the best! My Grandma Mickey would always say 'fity cent' instead of fifty cents - it drove me nuts when I was younger - now that she's gone, it makes me smile when I think about it. 😊,✌&💞
@@stillstormie7222 , hahaha , I think I've even said it that way a time or two myself . My Granny and her mama ( my Mawmaw ) used to always call me Bunny instead if Bonnie . My family and I still laugh about that . They would say all kinds of things different and we would get so tickled at them . They were so country and the sweetest things , but hard workers too !! I sure do miss them . 😉❤
My Moma made tomato gravy with meatloaf. Instead of ketchup she put tomato sauce over meatloaf (covered it with 2 cans of sauce). When meatloaf was done she lifted. It onto a platter then added a corn starch slurry to thicken gravy over medium heat. She served the gravy on mashed potatoes beside the meatloaf. Yummy for the tummy!! I've never had chocolate gravy on biscuits but we made it and let it get cold and served it on ice cream. Once we had it on waffles while it was piping hot and that was great.
Tomatoe gravy is so good !! I hope she makes it on here someday . I make mine just like I make milk gravy , except I add a little less milk and add a can of diced tomatoes . You can use a can of whole tomatoes , fresh tomatoes , a can of tomato sauce , or a can of tomato paste if that's all you have , but diced tomatoes are my favorite . 😉❤
forgot to say my grandmother and mother when taking the biscuits out of the pan always opened them up and put butter inside not margarine but real butter then when we put them on the plate and spooned on the gravy the butter wall all melted
I honestly believe that you were dreaming about something wrong with your eye, & yes, did that to yourself. As we age, we can become a very deep sleeper. I've always thought that you look SO lovely in the color you're in today, & pale to bright pinks, too. I'm wishing you a very beautiful day. God bless you, Paula. 🌷🌻 🌹 🌻 🌷 ♥️
My momma always mixed her dry ingredients together first sugar, flour and cocoa, dash of salt in her pan then added her milk and stirred until thoroughly mixed together then heated over med. Heat until thickened and then added her vanilla and butter on the end. And Grandpa always had to have chocolate gravy every Saturday morning with his biscuits. BEST MEMORIES EVER. 😊😪 Thank you Paula for sharing.
Paula all us older gals get days like that when you look in the mirror first thing in the morning and you say oh my Lord who is that... I didn't look that bad yesterday ha ha, you have natural beauty, it comes from within and shows on your lovely face. Now I remember you saying you got that awesome square cast iron skillet as a gift from a guy that owns an antique shop, lucky you, I love it cooking with cast iron, does he have any more cos I want one 😃 now where I come from your chocolate gravy is called chocolate sauce, same thing. I'm going to bake myself a chocolate tart seeing as its my birthday today. Love and best wishes. Your fav fan from the UK. 😃

Thank you for the memory! My mom and my nanny (who was born in 1889) both used to fix this for me as a child in the old dominion state. Dont ever say youre ugly. Youre a beautiful Southern lady and always will be! Your beautiful voice and accent takes this old lady back in time. Bless you!
Don’t let him fool you, men have these days and feelings, too! But don’t worry Paula, not only are you beautiful on the outside but so is your soul on the inside! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I honestly don’t have words. My Grammy past away this year and tried to teach me her Tennessee cooking when she could but we always were limited on time so you teaching her recipes are simply a joy. I'm 60. My granny used to make this for us grand kids and serve it over buttered (lots of) toast. My grand kids love their Granny's chocolate gravy. This takes me back to my little days. Paula you'll always be beautiful. Some women are timeless and I'm jealous.
I love chocolate gravy! My sweet grandmother used to make this all the time for us with home made biscuits and butter. My gramma did add vanilla after it came off the heat and her recipe did not call for flour. So good! Brings back memories!
At 80 I just think I have so much to bring me joy in my life plenty to eat, a roof over my head and reasonably good health. What more can one ask for. Our mates eyes grow weaker as ours do so figure he doesn't even notice deeper lines etc.
Hi Paula! When I went to the lady and sons with my family, we were IN LOVE with the Chicken Pot Pie on the menu. It would be amazing if you could show us how to make it! You have always been an inspiration to me and I started watching you on food network when I was 6 years old. Thank you for enriching my childhood and adulthood with your recipes. So happy you have a RUclips channel!
Mrs.Paula. I've been watching you since i can remember and i have ALWAYS went to your recipes when in need. Unfortunately due to me having some bad organs now i am on a strict low sodium diet. Do you have any good low sodium meals? I've just about burnt through all mine during this quarantine. I hope your staying safe and you are ALWAYS the prettiest in my eyes. Thank you for always being an inspiration! Brandy.
Paula I don’t think you will get many requests for this but none the less I believe others would love to try it. When you have left over pot roast my father would make roast beef hash. It’s such a great way to use that left over roast. He would use a lot of sage in his. Probably more than most but it was such a nice addition to your breakfast the next day. Especially if you have some of those potatoes left over from that roast. Please show us how to do that. I’ve tried but just can’t get it close. I am not the cook that my mothers and grandmothers were. What a wonderful way to make a delicious Sunday breakfast from your Saturday night roast beef dinner.
My mother in law (when she was well enough to cook) would make this for the kids. She said she made it for her own kids when they were younger. She called it Chocolate Biscuits. She never could remember the recipe to give to me so I am so thankful and glad you have done this video. I will write down the recipe and keep it. Next time we go see her, I will make it and take it to her house :) Thank you so very much!!!
My Mom, who grew up in Kentucky, made this for us kids all the time. After I got married I made chocolate gravy for my husband and kids, with some biscuits. My husband thought it was chocolate pudding and stuck it in the freezer to cool it down. I asked him why he did that, he said i don't like hot pudding! LOL...I said, it's not pudding, it's a gravy and you eat it with biscuits. He had never had it before, and even to this day he just can't wrap his little mind around that concept! 🤣 My kids loved it and would ask me to make it from time to time. Now that my kids are grown, I may have to make it again and see if my husband will change his mind on this idea! LOL..I won't get my hopes up! 🤪
My Mamaw was Native American...Cherokee. She made fry bread & chocolate gravy all the time. She was from Alabama, born in the late 1800's. I used to always ask her to make it for me, but she didn't put very much sugar in hers though, just a cpl or 3 heaping tbs. It was just slightly sweetened. And hers was darker brown... more chocolatey. But she would make like regular gravy with a roux of butter & flour...burn it off, then add the milk...get it almost thickened & then she added a pinch of salt, alot of cocoa powder & it was probably abt 3 tbs of sugar per I'd say 2 cups ratio of gravy. Sometimes she'd add a cpl pinches of cinnamon. I used to watch her make it back in the late 60's. I'd pull the step stool up by the stove. Lol.. She was pretty old then but she still cooked & rocked in her big wood rocking chair. They bought me a little red one to put right beside hers to rock with her. Man this brings back old memories! Thank you.❤️
It’s easier if you mix all your dry ingredients first to get lumps out then add milk a little at a time stirring constantly then add your butter. Cook till it thickens some add vanilla. Don’t get too thick cause you want to sop it up with the biscuits. Sooooo good!!! Been making this for years.
Paula, this may sound silly, but listening to you talk about how you feel about yourself and your eye bruise is what makes us all feel more connected to you. I would love it if you would make a video to talk about any health issues you have. Listening to you talk about that sort of thing makes us all feel like we're all just "normal." You have a way of talking about things that just makes us be able to relate to you, especially us older people. I'm 65 and just LOVE watching you. Love you Paula, take care and keep being safe.❤️
I would love to see a chicken and stuffing recipe or some kind of comfort casserole. I’ve just about got all my chickens processed and will need budget friendly ideas that can stretch a meal
One of my best friend's momma used to make chocolate gravy all the time. I loved going over for chocolate gravy over white bread or a biscuit. The only thing different is she used water instead of milk so you could let it sit on the stove covered and you could warm it up as much as you wanted. It was sooooo good.
Paula, you look so beautiful in that color of blue, with the white to highlight that pretty blue, try Pink & White too! & Yellow & White, & Purple & White, & Orange & White. Kathy Hartje she has several items with that saying on them in her store at PaulaDeen.com. she has so many cute items like that on her site and so much more.
Paula, I’m so happy to see you making chocolate gravy. I grew up on it and make it occasionally. Here’s a tip to keep the lumps from ever forming. I always put my sugar, flour, and cocoa powder in the pan before the butter. Mix all that up until it’s combine and then slowly pour your milk in and mix until it comes together. Put the butter in last and let it melt into the gravy.
A lady made this for me when I was a young girl. I didn’t know it was a true recipe. It Was delish. I Gotta make this Paula,,, you forgot to add the vanilla 🤣
I had two granny’s that made it two different ways, neither way this way! One was really sweet and the other was more of a gravy. Now I have a third recipe in my pocket! I would love to see that vanilla!
I have never heard of chocolate gravy but it sure sounds like I'm gonna love it! :D Thank you Paula. Oh and one time i woke up and my eye felt bruised. when i looked in the mirror the whole whites of my eyeball was the color of blood and it looked like the layer on top was filled with blood. It seems the older I get the more weird things I get with diabetes. Things that never ever happened to my body are happening and my husband says to me well honey we're getting old. Were only 60. I hope your eye feels better Paula. Omg that gravy sure looks good. I love chocolate. :D
Sabrina Aguilera Girlllll you are gonna love it with biscuits!! My grown kids and I love it. Yummy! Regarding the age thing - I can related. Lol. I hurt in places I never hurt before and get easily stiff whereas I never ever did before. Hey aging isn’t for the weak of heart Lol.
My family's recipe for chocolate gravy is different. We don't add the sugar until the end. Butter, AP flour, salt and cocoa powder. Add milk. Stir til thickened. Turn off heat, add sugar and vanilla. Stir. Sugar melts almost instant. So good. I love chocolate gravy. When I was a little girl and my momma made it for us, we thought she was giving us hot, chocolate pudding.
Paula, your hair is gorgeous! Gravy looks amazingly good and hope to make it one day. I have a request! Could you please please please do a video of Uncle Bubba's Fried Chicken? I absolutely love this recipe! 😄🤗
My momma always made “Cold bread pudding “. She would put cold leftover biscuits in chocolate pudding. Similar concept. My favorite treat as a child. When I was pregnant with my 3rd child I was craving that so much. Bless her, she made me a whole big bowl of it! ❤️
This brings back memories. My aunt made this for me and my sister when we were little. I haven't had it since! Suggestion as to what I'd like to see: Of all the cooking & baking I can do, I have yet to make a perfect quiche. Could you do two or three different types? They are perfect to take to my ladies group at church.
I just love you Paula Deen. I'm from Texas. My brothers told me about this chocolate gravy years ago. A friend of theirs mother would make this for them. We were in Branson Missouri with family at Thanksgiving bc my youngest daughter and she was 38 years old passed away in May from a very rare cancer so we decided to take her kids to do something different for the Holidays. We saw your restraunt but didn't get to go in bc there was so many cars and people waiting to get in. My husband doesn't like to wait too long. Lol..Stay safe and love listening to you.
stephani m sorry. I left out the sugar... no it’s mostly sugar. 1 to 1/2 cups sugar, half cup cocoa, maybe 1/2 cup milk, and then about a half stick of butter, stirred in to finish it. I put in a pinch of salt, but also lately, I’ve been sprinkling Himalayan salt on after I put it over the biscuits. I creates an amazing sweet/salty combo! This recipe (my Mama’s from KY) is basically chocolate syrup. You could put it over ice cream as well as you could biscuits, but we always called it Chocolate Gravy. 😊
Oh my goodness. My grandma's favorite ... she would always laught at me cause I would tell her I love chocolate but not in my gravy.😂🤣😂🤣 she was from Arkansas
My Mom is from Oklahoma and made that for me and my brother when we were in school. She often didn't have biscuits on the weekdays so we'd have it over buttered toast. I loved it! None of my friends here in California knew what it was. She just made it in a saucepan. What's nice was the leftovers placed in the fridge set up like chocolate pudding and I could have that when I came home from school for a snack!
I grew up on this stuff but we made it different.Mama always heated the milk first and mixed the cocoa, sugar and flour together before adding it to the milk.no lumps. Butter was added last before pouring over hot biscuits!
Paula, you are so amazing, I have to start my day with you now. Yes,,,, I feel old and wrinkly all the time, 55 years old and some days I just want to cry when I see my reflection. But you really are making a difference to I'm sure a lot of us out here.
I make this. My Mom, her Mom so on and so on. They were from Missouri. We did it differently. We mixed flour, sugar, coco, dash of salt together and slowly added milk as we cooked it and when it starts to thicken we add the butter. Its a lot faster and yummy.
Thanks for posting that Logan. The evap milk is also a great substitute if you do it Paulas way and don’t have milk. I’m sure either way is fabulous.
Idont Care thanks for taking the time to comment. You’re right! It’ll be good either way! God bless you all! 😊

What do you put it on?
Teresa Bown I would put it on medium heat high enough to make it bubble and boil just a little bit and stir, stir stir. That’s....interesting lol. I’ve never heard of that.
The square skillet looks really hard to work with..🥴
Seems like she would know better--a round skillet would have been a lot easier for this job!
I would love to see you make a good old fashioned chicken and dumplings
Yes, I second that, sounds great!
YES! Please...
Woulduv to have you show us how to make Chicken and Dumplings
Definitely. Ten billion calories per serving, and worth each and every one.
My great grandma used to make this- She called it soppin’ chocolate.
Soppin chocolate...!! HAHAHA..!! That's a good one . I'll have to remember this one . I love it !! I've heard soppin your biscuits in gravy before , but not soppin chocolate. Thank you for sharing that story MC W !! 😊😉
Oh that is cute.lol.lol.
Not only can you cook...
You’re just the Sweetest and Cutest One!!!
God Bless!!!
❤️🦋☀️🌈
I love this gravy... I learned how to make it from my grandmother. It is so wonderful... love everyone on here. Have a beautiful Wednesday guys ❤👍. Love you bunches Paula 😘
What do you put chocolate gravy on? Pancakes? Waffles?
@@teresabown2724 Biscuits ...it is so good. But really waffles sound amazing to😋
I want an old fashioned Jam Cake with Caramel Icing, made the simple way. Made with cake mix or self-rising flour, easy way.
I LOVE blackberry jam cake!! Southeastern hills of Kentucky is where the recipe my mother used in the 70s.
👍👍👍
I am going to make this ... but l think l will use a round pan 😊🤗
I’ve never seen a square cast-iron pan skillet in all my life. 😂
i grew up on this and used to make it all the time.
@Kenneth Holland Yes! This square skillet would be PERFECT for cornbread and also a cake❣️ Wish I had one just like Paula’s🥰
I am from Tennessee and my momma said my daddy loved chocolate gravy and he loved it when she would make it for him. Southern cookin is the BEST!
Delicious! 😊
The first time my mother mentioned chocolate gravy I thought, "yuck!"
Then she made it with fresh hot biscuits!
I’m northern and never heard of it! And on biscuits??? Doesn’t sound or look good but since I’m adventurous I’ll give it a try!
@@clmierau You're gonna love it! Give it a try!
This is something new to me
First off I will be using a round pan. Then if your looking for ideas, I would like to see a fried tomato recipe. I always have trouble getting the bread crumbs to stay on while frying. Help.
I would like to see you make chicken and dumplings. I have enjoyed you sharing every morning with us.
She has a few recipes
yes to chicken and dumplings!
Ms. Paula, l am so glad that you are on you tube. I think that it is a good fit for you . Now we truly see the real good.
Hi, Paula! So glad you are accessible to us again. How about holding our hands through making some fried chicken? Thanks
I try and try to make fried chicken. Sometimes I can make okay fried chicken but it's never great. I've tried different recipes, different skillets and methods. I just cant get it right.
I agree!
She just made that. Look back in her videos and you will find it.
Susan Wilson she did already :) looks amazing. :)
Paula you are always Beautiful! Your Spirit makes you Radiate Beauty! I make Chocolate Gravy once every 2 years, it’s such a delight!
MY DAD MADE THIS GRAVY FOR US ALL THE TIME WHEN I WAS LITTLE. THIS IS GOOD STUFF.
TRY USING RUM INSTEAD OF VODKA. THATS GOOD TOO!!!!!
I love your little stories you tell as you cook,it just makes my day...lol...how bout some good ole country fried steak?
You’re just beautiful inside and out.
I grew up eating homemade biscuits & chocolate gravy. Thx for the memory, Paula.
Me too! My mom made the best. I made it for my children & now they are making it for their children! The tradition is carried on😊
I have never in my old ky life, heard of this..oh it is on!
Hi, Beautiful Paula request: Homemade bread your way.
Bonnie Brown awe, my mammaw and pampaw were from Arkansas and I was raised calling okra “okri”
And Missouri is “Missoura”
I miss them so much, but keep them alive in my heart through cooking and memories ❤️

Does Ms Paula have a recipe for tomato gravy? I hear of it but never had it. Thx
Italians call tomato sauce "gravy".
I've never heard of it...my mom however did make.tomato dumplings! They were delicious!
Now you’re talking!! Southern tomato gravy and biscuits. Truly wonderful!!
OH Paula I grew up with this on the weekends so glad someone else is telling the world
forgot to say my grandmother and mother when taking the biscuits out of the pan always opened them up and put butter inside not margarine but real butter then when we put them on the plate and spooned on the gravy the butter wall all melted
Oh my gosh my ex husband's Nana always made him "cocoa" and biscuits for breakfast in the morning.
I think Paula should make her creamy chicken rollups next or enchiladas
My momma always mixed her dry ingredients together first sugar, flour and cocoa, dash of salt in her pan then added her milk and stirred until thoroughly mixed together then heated over med. Heat until thickened and then added her vanilla and butter on the end. And Grandpa always had to have chocolate gravy every Saturday morning with his biscuits. BEST MEMORIES EVER. 😊😪 Thank you Paula for sharing.

Ill date her... Any time
That gravy is way thinner than how my grandparents made it when I was a kid and it's lighter too. Their chocolate gravy wasn't watery in the least.
Oh my goodness I remember this when I was a little girl living in Tennessee my mom made this it's delicious

Teresa- 'Oh, Lord'. 😄😄
At 80 I just think I have so much to bring me joy in my life plenty to eat, a roof over my head and reasonably good health. What more can one ask for. Our mates eyes grow weaker as ours do so figure he doesn't even notice deeper lines etc.
Chocolate gravy!! Yum-o!! Love it Paula!!! Love your quarantine shows!! Love from the Jersey Shore
Brandy.
My grandmother made this. Memories ❤️Born and raised in Kentucky.
Good Morning Paula. Those days are pretty normal. Blessings to life ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Paula I don’t think you will get many requests for this but none the less I believe others would love to try it.
Hi just wanted to say my mom made this chocolate gravy
When we girl's didn't
Feel good your a beautiful person
Beautiful inside and out! ❤️
No matter what, ever, you’re just the best!!
Love seeing ya cooking, and my husband asked me why he's got so much gas,I told him I've been cooking homemade food again, lol
Thank you.❤️
"Shut up shut up!" 😂 You are so cute! We all have bad days Miss Paula, tomorrow will be better. ❤
I’ll make some this weekend! Thanks for sharing Paula...
I’ve just about got all my chickens processed and will need budget friendly ideas that can stretch a meal
ive been wanting this too!
My Mother mixed flour, cocoa, and sugar together first! And used boiling water instead of milk. Milk is more like a pie rather than gravy to me.
I’m really enjoying your channel stay safe your truly Blessed
One of my best friend's momma used to make chocolate gravy all the time. I loved going over for chocolate gravy over white bread or a biscuit. The only thing different is she used water instead of milk so you could let it sit on the stove covered and you could warm it up as much as you wanted. It was sooooo good.

You are so beautiful in and out!! Always!!!! Can't wait to try this and all your other recipes!!
I Gotta make this
Paula,,, you forgot to add the vanilla 🤣

Paula: You ever wake up and feel like you’ll never look pretty again? Do you ever wake up and feel like that Teresa? Teresa: yes, every day
My family's recipe for chocolate gravy is different.
Omg Paula I Love You so much! So adorable 🤗
This brings back memories. My aunt made this for me and my sister when we were little. I haven't had it since!

Your beautiful Paula inside and out side .
We need some chicken and dumplings!!
My chocolate gravy does not have flour in it, and it has a whole lot more cocoa than that. Butter, cocoa, sugar,
milk and a pinch of salt. That’s it.
So it's not sweet??🤔
stephani m sorry.
Paula, you are one of the most stunning women I've ever seen and I've thought that for years! Love ya!!
