Awesome part of the country, its a fantastic place even if you don't catch a fish, which can be super hard. Those rock bivvies are fantastic, great bit of kiwiana. I find 20 foot leaders are a must, I use 7 foot floating poly leaders then build of that, when I was building my own all the way through I found 20 foot pretty hard to handle. But pleased you nailed it. Looking forward to Part 2,
Yes the rock bivvies' are so amazing - wanted to share that! Cheers for the tips on leaders! It works well unless wind gets up plus need to stick to single nymph or things get hard to manage
Enjoyed your video immensely. I was an avid fly fisher before I moved to Queensland. So nice to see the river and the bush. You had an excellent adventure. Thank you for sharing. Subscribed.
Glad you enjoyed it. A big part of wanting to share these videos is for people that can't get there themselves. I guess sharing it with you nailed that - I'm so pleased you enjoyed it 👍
Hi yes please put out part 2. I enjoyed this adventure. This an area I would like to explore when I visit. Has the low water and heat forced fish lower down the system or do you think fish numbers are always as low?
I think on reflection that spot gets a lot of action from heli anglers & guides. Even though its a huge walk it's just a day trip for someone with $$$. In terms of numbers - It's late in the season so gets harder but surprising you'd think it'd be loaded wouldn't you.
Well just catching fishing in this place is a bonus and catching big fish in low flows and calm pools is hard anywhere. I've always fancied this area popularised by the famous guide from there but it usually rained hard when Ive visited in November and I didn't know which rivers clear quickly. At least you will have more knowledge of the area if you visit again.
What an awesome bit of backcountry & good work getting a fish out of that piece of water, bring on part 2
I've made a part 2 but I will wait for feedback first - If you guys want me to release part 2 let me know in the comments below!
What a place! I love the rock shelters. Part 2 please

About 3.5kg of food ans in total just under 20kg to carry 👍🏼
