what is it about us fly fisherman that want/need to put or hands on the blank of the rod, right above the cork when fighting a fish? I sent in a rod for warranty that broke during a fight, the maker told me "if i want your hand that high up, i would have put cork there". lol I still do it. Great video.

Really great video Ainsley, you will have benefited from a masterclass with Tony, it all helps shortcut the learning and he is one of the best.

Great video mate, looks like there's another part coming up to this story. I shall look forward to that one. It doesn't get much better than 1 of the great kiwi Pioneers in Mr Entwistle. Such a good all round easy going bloke with a wealth of knowledge in the fly fishing arena.

How fortunate to be able to spend time on the water with Mr. Entwistle, one of the ‘Senior Hands’ of Kiwi flyfishing. (A few years ago I had a few days with Chappie Chapman, also in that league.) Their sheer wealth of experience is enough to make you marvel. Oh, nice fish too!

This is probably one of the most informative videos I've ever watched, and it's not even a tutorial! It's great to see that I have been doing some things correctly but I also learnt a lot. I'd love to go out with Tony for a day!

That's fly fishing paradise right there in that gorge. It's always extremely satisfying when a plan comes off with the cast, then what seems like an improbable task at hand to land the fish, ya find a way, and the rewards feel so much sweeter. Great job to pull a fish of that size back up and across that rampant current into the eddie and net him

Cold pies... it ain't a pie if its piping hot in my book! Nice opening day stroll on a very nice stream. Saw a Shining Cuckoo on the outskirts of Dunedin a couple of years back, wasn't sure what we were looking at with that iridescent back.

your comments on fish handling is timely, unfortunately at times its the wild west down there and its an indictment on CSIs management of the fishery, a world class fishery seen as a cash cow
