Thanks Shirley, glad you enjoyed it. Was a bit tongue in cheek when I was saying I was scared 😀 But it is some height, area and surroundings. I can’t wait to get back. Liam
Here is a tip for drivers who have never been there, so of course on one track roads use the passing places to allow cars coming towards you to pass, most people understand that, but the passing places should also be used to allow traffic behind you to get passed you if you are slow moving. So for example if you are a campervan and you are labouring up the steep incline with a large queue of traffic crawling behind you, the etiquette is that you should just pull into a passing place for 45 seconds and let the traffic get passed you. Even if you have one car behind you who is looking to get passed, just pull in and let them get passed. Many visitors are either not aware that this is expected or are unwilling....there is no room for any competitiveness or thoughtless driving on these roads, it causes frustration, especially for local drivers. Drive safe and be thoughtful towards your fellow road users.
Once met a 6 wheeler fuel truck on the hairpins but I was on a motorcycle so it was OK. Some times there is a star attraction. The waters across from Applecross exceed 1000ft deep and is a sheltered body of water with a defendable entries. This allows the Navy to test its submarines, including opening of missile hatches 'on the quiet' and under water. A test not acceptable in open waters as you do not know who is listening and could start a war. The road back to the north is also worth the trip and can make it a round route back to Kishorn.
Thanks Brian that is fascinating . Yes I also believe Raasay is used in military training for the marines. It’s a wild, exposed area, and must test people to their limit. I wanted to have a look at the Kishorn Port but was short on time. I do love the Song Kishorn Commandos 😀
Enjoyed your video, thank you. We did chicken out in June, we were having enough trouble on single track roads in Skye as first time American drivers, but would love to have seen this area. Scotland is magnificent, I'll remember it forever.❤
@@pattymoore8351 Thanks Patty. I can imagine it could be daunting especially considering some of the wide roads you have in the states. If you can pluck up the courage next time the scenery is fabulous. Thanks, Liam
Can't wait to do this next year. Attempted it this year at the end of May but the weather was bad going up so I bottled it😮.
lovely wee drive up to Applecross , i used to deliver garden sheds to the locals in my 18 tonner up the cattle pass road
Doesn’t sound like a bad place to be delivering Tom :)
Another great video and lots of memories for me. I drove it in the same direction on a clearer day and had lunch at the inn :)
Thanks John, unfortunately that’s what I missed out on..will get to the Inn next time 🤞🏻
Great video best I've seen of that road, drove it before and it's not as bad as its made out I enjoyed the drive

The beer delivery artic from Lochcarron gets over. It's protected by Armco barriers so not that dangerous?
Not too bad. Just a bit tongue in cheek 😀

Great tips Chris 👍
It's not dangerous at all. It's a lovely scenic road. We did it on a motorbike last year.

Most risky thing is letting your tyres drop off the tarmac: those sharp edges will shred the inner wall 😬
Also there is an alternative route for those who may have larger vehicles or less experienced drivers
Absolutely, if I’d had more time on this day I would have driven back that. Apparently a beautiful road round the coast😀
Done that in a motorhome its not that bad
Spectacular place to take a motor home Geoff 👍
@coasttocoast23 trick is keep your eyes closed let the wife drive

It’s even worse when you’re following a campervan and another campervan comes in the other direction..
And I thought we were over the worst of it being November John!

@@coasttocoast23 We'll see! I so hope to return. For now we'll tour vicariously through RUclips ❤
Stop being a drama queen nothing wrong with the road
The road is daunting but it's not particularly dangerous - the M8 is another matter...
It’s a bit tongue in cheek Andrew. Don’t be alarmed 😀
@andrewthornhill4229 no need to be rude though and to many it is daunting
