I just test drive both today. The seats in the CX-5 were much comfortable. I think, the CX-50 looks better, and I loved driving it, but I couldn’t get that comfortable in it.
Almost every single Toyota sold in the US today is manufactured in North America. So clearly the Japanese are able to run their NA plants to the same standards as the Japanese ones.
Everyone talks crap about Mexican made cars, but my 2021 CX-30 which was made in Mexico has been great. I had a 2018 mazda3 before that, also made in Mexico and it was excellent too.
I just purchased a 2024 CX-5 premium plus and love it. Panoramic sunroof, Bose sound system, leather interior, it looks fancy and beautiful inside. I’m very happy with it.
I just made that decision and went with a 2024 CX-5 Turbo Premium. I compared the CX-5 and CX-50 side by side in the showroom, sat in both. I just found the CX-5 more luxurious inside which was what I preferred. I liked the way the doors closed better on the CX-5. The CX-5 has painted wheel trims available which looks more upscale in my opinion vs plastic cladding. I actually prefer the regular size sunroof on the CX-5 over the panoramic. I like the extra headroom in the CX-5. We don't have passengers in the back seat very often so the extra legroom in the backseat that the CX-50 has over the CX-5 isn't a deciding factor. I would rather have the extra headroom in the front if I have to choose. The leather strip on the middle of the seats of the CX-50 bothered me and I don't know if it's something I could have gotten used to. I find the CX-5 seats more comfortable overall. Top it off that the CX-5 is a little less expensive and made in Japan although I wouldn't have a problem buying a car from the Mazda Toyota plant in Alabama. Our other car is a made in USA 2017 Toyota Camry probably from the same plant and it's been great.I never test drove the CX-50 so I can't speak to the driving experience between the two. I do love driving my CX-5 Turbo.
Well, I purchased the 2024 CX5 signature, and regret it. It has a constant whine that is annoying and the speaker in the a pillar rattles. I've taken in it twice, still same disappointing results..I'm waiting to hear back from Mazda. I just bought a cx 50 as needed a new car. Had a 2004 Acura MDX I bought new starting to have lots of issues. I tend to keep cars for as long as I can. The Mazda cx 50 size wise fits my needs now. Retired and a smaller suv better suits me. First Mazda for me and so far like it. Will see if this was the right choice as time will tell.
@@vladseva2327 no I do not find it to firm. It is firm but yet a comfortable ride. The longest trip I made in it so far was only 2 hours. But a very comfortable ride.
I just did the same, had a 2009 Nissan Murano that was starting to give me many problems, traded it in and got a CX-5. It’s a little smaller than my old Murano but not by much. But the CX-5 looks, handles and feels so much better and much better on gas too. So far Im impressed I see why it’s Mazdas best selling vehicle.
When my family rented a vehicle while on vacation, we got a Mazda3 sedan. My sister's boyfriend (who was the designated driver) hated it, because the infotainment screen wasn't touch enabled. I'm 10 years older than him, so I was used to using a separate dial for navigating screens (yay for early smartphones like the Nokia 3390 with the game "Snake"). Personally, if I had to get a small SUV, a Mazda CX-5 or CX-50 would be on my list, since I loved my Mazda3 hatchback.
I have a 21 CX-5, I absolutely love this vehicle. Naturally aspirated engine. Has enough pep in it. Turbos are ok, but could be an issue down the road. Mine is the touring CX-5. Loaded with Bose system with 11 speakers including a sub. I’ve pretty much done nothing to this vehicle except it’s maintenance services. 37k same brakes, tires.
Being a newer model vehicle for Mazda, the CX-50 has had more issues/problems that still need tweaking, & the fairly new Huntsville, AL plant still needs some tweaking also, as the CX-50 & Corolla Cross vehicles they churn out tend to have more build defects, so examine the vehicles you buy very carefully. The venerable CX-5 is close to its last production year before a new gen is released, so it tends to have fewer problems/issues currently (& it is also built in Japan still).
💯!! I don't think many of these car channels ever talk about things like that. The will rave about Kia', Hyundai's, and other American makers. I am like NOPE.
@@erichewitt890 I would recommend googling & visiting the 'cx50forums' website & reading through the General Discussion section & the Problem/Complaints section of that site. It's pretty active & plenty to read about the CX-50, both good & bad.
People want to see features. Why would a review channel leave OUT features? 😂😂😂 of course the fully loaded models are always featured! Use some common sense
The CX5 is made in Japan, has the better interior, better suspension, felt more agile (it’s close) and was my ultimate choice. Got a soul red signature, love it! The only thing I wish it had from the CX50 was the panoramic roof but it wasn’t a deal breaker.
At first it seems weird Mazda makes both cars, but it seems to make more sense if you think about it in these terms: The CX-50 is more a competitor to a Subaru Outback. It’s feels more like a lifted wagon while the CX-5 is a traditional SUV/CUV.
Looks to me like Mazda focus-grouped US customers, and they said the usual things: "The CX-5 would be perfect if it was just as it is, except with a more butch look and more rear-seat room, but don't charge more for it." So they added those things, cost-cut it to keep the price down, and expected it to replace the CX-5. Except the CX-5 keeps outselling it.
I don't like the black cladding on the CX-50, or that it's 3 inches wider than CX-5. And the lower roof makes the windows smaller than the CX-5. Plus I don't like the CX-50 cup holder position or the way the center armrest opens. Not sure about the CX-50 rear torsion beam suspension either. I just bought a CX-5. My third CX-5 in a row.
Mazda employs massive cost cutting in several areas on the CX-50 yet charges more...the hard plastics, the torsion beam rear suspension, the lower quality front seats, etc. And as noted, the CX-5 is made in Japan vs. Alabama. I would pick the CX-5 any day of the week. EDIT: not to mention the matte black cladding even on the top CX-50 trim, no thanks.
We already got the 2024 CX5 Select model and for us it is a great car even though it doesn't have a turbo like the higher models but it is fast, fun and easy to maneuver 😊
The infotainment system is nice because its comfortable to operate no leaning forward to touch the screen my screen stays clean and finger print free cant believe he said it was frustrating to use a day with the car doesn't make you a great reviewer. The cx5 rides higher the cx50 rides like a sedan which is weird just looking at it from the outside. I own the cx5 and did drive the cx50 for a while the cx50 feels a lot wider on the road as well.
I own a 2023 CX-5 Signature Turbo, and couldn't be happier! It is a pleasure to drive, and is luxurious inside and out! I, too, appreciate that it was made in Japan. Gave the CX-50 a look, but preferred the classy CX-5.
I would choose the CX-5. I LOVE my made in Japan 2021, CX-5 Grand touring AWD. If they won't sell it in the US anymore and switch to the CX-50... I will just buy a newer CX-5 and baby it lol.
I have a 2014 cx5 and absolutely don’t see a point to having cx50. The only thing keeping me from buying another newer mazda is availability of hybrid that’s at par with rav4 hybrid. And ofcourse will never ever pay for premium gas. I live in SoCal. Riddic gas prices.
We recently bought the Mazda CX-5, and while we love the comfort and handling I am perplexed at the rear seat access for USBs and seat heaters in the center back seat console. You have to have the center console down - which means that if I’m running my skis and board through the center or have a 3rd passenger in the back seat, there is no access to these features. Shortsighted design in my mind when it comes to occupant ops, not sure why these weren’t located on the front center console at (I assume) the rear vents as shown in this video in the CX-50. The loud persistent beeping for seat belts is also annoying, as is integration of Pandora in the infotainment menu.
Sounds like you should have done a bit more homework before you bought it. That’s on you. Either that or you knew all this and bought it anyway…still on you.
Probably happened because the car is the oldest design in its class, forcing them to match newer competitors by adding those rear-seat features as an afterthought.
This was pretty much my take as well. The 50 is slightly wider, but has less headroom and worse visibility. I only drove the base 2.5 in each and with the base engine they're indistinguishable in terms of engine performance. I like the 5 a little better, the fit and finish is just a smidge better, and the headroom and visibility are better. I would also add that most people would probably be pretty happy with the base engine, the well sorted transmission really makes it drive quite well despite having only 187hp, it's a lot peppier than the CVT equipped Forester and CR-V, and the transmission is better sorted than the non-Hybrid RAV4 (RAV4 hybrid is still the king of smooth power delivery on compact crossovers).
I own a new CX-5. You can turn the settings off to make it touch screen all the time. I don't hate the dial, but touch works better when using android auto. I personally don't love the plastic cladding....the cx50 would look so much better with body color!
I will be looking at getting a used CX5 Turbo S or Signature depending on rates, since the CX5 has been out longer used ones with the 2.5T are easier to find and cheaper. Also the CX5 shares its platform with the Mazda 6 I currently own which has outstanding ride and handling balance (especially with really good shoes) and I still prefer the design and interior of the CX5. Both are good though.
My wife owns a CX-5 and I suggested she look at the CX-50 and she commented, as you did in your review, that she thought the seats in the CX-5 were more comfortable than the seats in the CX-50, as was the ride. So she most likely will buy another CX-5 rather than the CX-50 although I tried to convince her to buy the CX-70.
I rewarded myself with a CX-50 Turbo Premium in Zircon Sand/Terracotta. This Mazda checks all the right boxes if you need utility but are a driving enthusiast. Always look forward to my next drive.
I would love a CX-50 in my garage this year but I live in Australia and unfortunately it’s not coming here, no matter how much I want it. Currently I drive a CX-30 which I love but I would like a little more space for when I go camping. The CX-50 fits the bill and I love the look of it much more than the CX-5. I believe there’s a new CX-5 coming, so I’ll wait to see how that looks.
My sister lives in the Melbourne area and she has a CX-50, bought it a couple of years ago. It replaced a Qashquai and she absolutely loves it, a much better vehicle than the Nissan. I've seen a number of them on the road in her area, so they are available.
Always pick Japanese made cars. The level of attention to detail, work ethic, and culture is way better than Americans can ever dream of putting out. CX-5.
After 15 years and two Ford Edges, we bought our first Mazda, the CX-50. Wow! I'd forgotten what a sporty car feels like. I didn't realize how much I missed a car that was actually fun to drive.
The CX60 would have fit nicely between the CX50 and the CX90. Mazda should have just offered the CX90 with or without a third seat. Why is the CX70 necessary?
Just bought the CX50 signature edition (Mexico so different to US). Im moving over from Hyundai as the Santa Fe here is $15k more expensive than the CX50 and the Tucson is about the same price as it but with alot less space. Im sad to leave Hyundai as had them in 3 continents and always reliable but Mazda has products at a better value for money price point and so Im making a change.
My first Mazda was a 6 and I LOVED it. Then I got a 2015 cx5 and fell in love with the car. I bought a 2020 cx5 and I will drive it til it dies. Cx5 forever
Can’t understand where he is coming from with comments on the infotainment system. There is absolutely nothing frustrating about it. Rotary dial and surrounding buttons are easy and intuitive to use. I find I can use without taking my eyes off of the road. It is touchscreen with apple carplay and android auto. Again…very simple. Not sure what he wants out of a system.
Kindly tell me how the radio is completely turned off. Not simply muted only to come back on when the car is re-started. Can't figure it out. Thank you!
Agreed. I own a CX-50 and I didn’t realize this until I had the car for 6 months. I just happened to touch the top of the door panel and was surprised by this. I guess this was a cost cutting move.
would you have rather suede its meant to be a off road adventure vehicle oh maybe you didn't know that as its competing with the likes of Subaru in that segment. and besides this reviewer isn't very good at descriptions or comparisons Do your own research.
I have a 2012 mazda 3. The mazda cx5 has the same lengh and the cargo space is about the same which is disapointing for a vehicule that cost more and didn't change since 2014. Plus the space for the rear seats are about the same. I don't know for the awd system on the CX-50, but the one on the CX 5 is not on par with subaru and Mitsubishi.
How do you turn the radio completely OFF in the CX-5 Signature? The last-played station comes on when the car is re-started no matter what I do. And why does the Mazda Connect screen turn of when the volume knob is pressed for 3 seconds? Thanks.
Chose the cx50 over the 5. Not ubiquitous. Not a bit old in design. And after a year of driving, not a single issue or problem. The made in japan bit is tired and old and just an excuse.
As a previously owned mazda car they are fun driving car but not comfortable they more harsher feeling suspension.. If you like comfy driving should choose Rav 4 or other brands
Been wanting a CX-5 for a few years. However, if they don't offer a hybrid version, I won't buy. This or any vehicle. Makes no sense why Mazda is so far behind in this area. Understand that CX-50 is coming with a hybrid and hope the CX-5 gets the same.
I personally find it weird that they're still selling the two alongside each other when they replaced the CX-3 with the CX-30 and the CX-9 with the CX-90, I just kind of feel like the CX-50 should just be the fifth generation small crossover from Mazda, with that first being the Tribute, then CX-7, CX-5 1st gen, CX-5 2nd gen, and now the CX-50
That’s because the CX 5 is still the best selling vehicle Mazda manufactures. Look up the numbers. They would be throwing away the baby with the bathwater.😂
@@jimmy5634 Mazda probably noticed that even with sorry reliability the Jeep sells a lot of cars because of styling and off-roadiness. So the CX-50 is basically a stiffer more stylish thing while the CX-5 is a bit more frumpy not-so-stylish but very reliable and nice handling vehicle.
I don't have the cx50 option in my country but even if the option was available, I'd stlil go with the CX5 cause I like the interior better and prefer a more comfortable ride
Have a 2020 CX5 grand touring. It's small. My son is 6'3 (long legs) and not alot of headroom or legroom. It sounds like the 50 doesn't have comfortable second row seat for long trips? Not sure what I'd choose.
You guys, I wanted so badly to love the CX-5! I almost bought it sight unseen, but the driver’s seat was so cramped and uncomfortable! At 5’1”, bottom seat cushion is too long for my legs. The power seats don’t tilt forward to alleviate this. The driver’s leg space is also very narrow, adding to the cramped feeling. I just couldn’t get comfortable. I even test drove it 3 different times trying to convince myself I could get used to it😢. The CX-50 feels so much more comfortable and spacious even with the bottom “cushion” being hard and flat.

I was so satisfied with the Mazda 6 signature and very disappointed in the CX5, I'm wondering if it had a rough transfer here from Japan, they told me the clips in the4 a pillars were worn out and cracked, how could that be it's brand new?
Cx50 did more rugged plastics on purpose to be more utilitarian and rugged compared to softer leather and padded finishes in a more luxury model like cx5.
Thankyou, its a tough call for me i have the 2nd generation cx 5 that i like a lot but the cx 50 is nicely built. I first need to see the 2025 cx 5 before i make a final call 😮.
Based on the comments, it looks like many people prefer the C X-5. Maybe I missed it, but I don't think the review mentioned that the CX-5 has independent rear suspension while the 50 has a rear torsion bar.
I prefer cx5 over CX50, CRV and RAV4. Premium interior, quality, Sportier, just adequate and smarter in every aspect. CX50 compromises you when it comes to visibility that is a deal breaker and low mpg compared to CX5. Drove all the cars and nothing comes close like the cx5 to meet your car enthusiast. CX5 never turns a blinder in your journey.
The US audience has spoken. In 2023 Mazda sold almost 45,000 units of the CX-5. The CX-50? Just 15,867. So an important difference is one sells nearly twice as well as the other in the USA. And it is the older CX-5 that outsells the CX-50 and is why they have not discontinued the older model because the newer one has not sold as well.
I just cant get pass the cladding ( why so much cladding?), hard seats, rear torsion beam suspension and station wagon look of the CX 50. The CX 5 for me, but it too isn't perfect. I would prefer a car about 3 inches longer for more rear seat room and little more width (only would need an inch or two). However, I have a cx 5 signature and it is very good. I think they were heading in the right direction with the cx 50 but fell short based on the issues mentioned above. Infotainment is not a deal breaker for me on either of these cars.
Well yes maybe, but that puts the 50 in a box on it's own. I think they were originally thinking that the cx 50 was going to be like the cx 30 and the cx 90 which was designed to replace their older siblings. However, now because they made a vehicle for a very specific task they can't get their sales number close to the CX 5 so they can't have the CX 50 replace the cx 5 without a major drop in sales. What I think they should have done is make the CX 50 a better version of the CX 5 ( slightly bigger, same rear suspension and not like a station wagon) , phase out the cx 5 and then have a offroad version of the CX 50 similar to what Toyota did for the Rav 4. Just my thoughts.
I think they made the CX-50 for all the US focus group consumers who said exactly what you did ("Love it! Now make it wider with more rear seat legroom and a more macho look"). Except when you add size, you can't hold the line on price unless you cut costs somewhere, since this car was probably meant to replace the CX-5.
Just test drove this Mazda, and all who have found the steering to be heavily weighted to steer. I have found the perfect solution, turn off the Traction Control 🚙🏎. Using one finger you can now make tight turns with ease.
Also be advised that Mazda responded to the complaints that the CX-50's steering was too heavy by lightening its effort for 2024. So it could also be that the complaints you heard simply didn't apply to the car you drove.
For Mexico te price tags between CX-5 fully loaded and CX-50 only version make a considerable difference... About $6K. I see that's an artificial differentiation as if they belong to totally different segments.

Do you feel that cx50 is too firm?
@@vladseva2327 no I do not find it to firm. It is firm but yet a comfortable ride. The longest trip I made in it so far was only 2 hours. But a very comfortable ride.
@@gdayjbhi do you have 20" or 17" wheels?
@@vladseva2327 20”
I just did the same, had a 2009 Nissan Murano that was starting to give me many problems, traded it in and got a CX-5. It’s a little smaller than my old Murano but not by much. But the CX-5 looks, handles and feels so much better and much better on gas too. So far Im impressed I see why it’s Mazdas best selling vehicle.
Absolutely Mazda CX-5 is the best Japanese SUV ❤
I would pick the CX 5
We bought a used CX-5 cream puff, with 9000 miles. Phenomenal automobile. Road feel is amazing. I have to beg my wife to drive it.
There is no tweaking. It is garbage american quality with cheap plastic, crooked doors and panels that wont line up. Theres no way around it.
Can you elaborate on any specific issues the cx-50 has?
@@erichewitt890 I would recommend googling & visiting the 'cx50forums' website & reading through the General Discussion section & the Problem/Complaints section of that site. It's pretty active & plenty to read about the CX-50, both good & bad.
It absolutely drives me nuts when the car reviews have the top of the range model when most people buy the basic level. I just tune out.
You’re not most people brah
Most people buy 1 or 2 trims up.... Not base or top
Yes, and they could start with the base review and then discuss to add-on packages--which are worth it and why.
Agree that bc of price point alot won't buy turbo and it would be nice to have review of just a trim or two above base.
People want to see features. Why would a review channel leave OUT features? 😂😂😂 of course the fully loaded models are always featured! Use some common sense
Love, love, love my 2024 CX50! We have the preferred (non turbo) which comes in 17" wheels which rides much softer than thd 20" wheels
The bigger sidewalls make a big difference in ride comfort, especially since Mazdas are already on the stiff side.
The CX5 is made in Japan, has the better interior, better suspension, felt more agile (it’s close) and was my ultimate choice. Got a soul red signature, love it! The only thing I wish it had from the CX50 was the panoramic roof but it wasn’t a deal breaker.
I am currently leasing a CX5. I love it. It is a joy to drive, especially in the red paint.
I looked at a CX50, but I couldn’t get it with Tan or Brown interior unless I got it with a turbo and I don’t want a turbo
I got a cx 50 tpp! And I love it but thinking bout trading up for the all black cx70
Multi-link suspension is obviously better than torsion beam
The CX-5 rear suspension is far superior.
That infontainment system is least frustrating to use. If you own one then you would know.
that is very true when he owns one for at least a month he can come back to us with an apology
@@DuaneAnderson-ot1ri 😭
I agree. It’s simple….took me 20 minutes to learn it.
I agree as well
All I can say is that my wife found it easy to use and she ain’t the epitome of techno-savvy.😂
We already got the 2024 CX5 Select model and for us it is a great car even though it doesn't have a turbo like the higher models but it is fast, fun and easy to maneuver 😊
Yep, it’s all that.
The acceleration is very quick from 0-50. It does lose a little oomph after that, but it’s still sufficient.
Better to have the base engine, IMO.
Keep the 2014. Cx50 has nothing on the original
Ive had a 2024 cx5 for 3 months now and love it. Went for the signature for the turbo and it’s honestly pretty quick for the class
Have 2020 CX-5. Gonna drive it 'til it dies. Great car. Haven't had to do anything but basic maintenance. 72K trouble free miles.
I have one of the last Mazda 6s produced. It’s the best car I’ve owned in the last 50 years.
CX-5 all day ❤
CX 5 all day long! I like the clean lines and lack of all the black plastic molding.
My choice, 2024 CX-5 Kuro with the 2,5L I4 SKYACTIV-G (not the turbo one) polymetal grey metallic & garnet red leather. (Canada) 😁
I have a 2017 cx5 and it has been outstanding. Looking to get a new cx5 but waiting for the hybrid. What is the delay?
I believe that will be the Mazda CX70 from what I have seen in RUclips land.
I can’t wait for the CX70 to come out 👍😊👍
I rewarded myself with a CX-50 Turbo Premium in Zircon Sand/Terracotta.
This guy isn't annoying. He did a great job.
Always pick Japanese made cars. The level of attention to detail, work ethic, and culture is way better than Americans can ever dream of putting out. CX-5.
I'm glad you are not MAGA
@@DPK5201 MAGA is the epitome of American decline. The hate, racism, misogyny, entitlement, and willful ignorance are staggering.

Love the cx 5. Just bought a 2025 turbo premium. Lovely!
After 15 years and two Ford Edges, we bought our first Mazda, the CX-50. Wow! I'd forgotten what a sporty car feels like. I didn't realize how much I missed a car that was actually fun to drive.
The Edge is still viewed as one of the better-handling midsize two-rows, so that's quite a statement. Thanks for sharing it.
Mazda should bring over the CX 60. The CX 70 debut was a dud just a CX 90 with 5 seats don't know why they did that.
The CX60 would have fit nicely between the CX50 and the CX90. Mazda should have just offered the CX90 with or without a third seat. Why is the CX70 necessary?
I got a CX-5 base on April 1st and I’m glad I did. Great value, good reliability and smooth handling. Mazda-zoom, zoom!!
His complaint about the infotainment center is over-stated. Neither my wife or I find it frustrating or difficult and she isn’t techno-savvy.
My first Mazda was a 6 and I LOVED it. Then I got a 2015 cx5 and fell in love with the car. I bought a 2020 cx5 and I will drive it til it dies. Cx5 forever
build quality of my 2021 CX 5 turbo signature is top notch.
Yes, I want a non plug in hybrid
waiting for the hybrid versions of both of these
Can’t understand where he is coming from with comments on the infotainment system. There is absolutely nothing frustrating about it. Rotary dial and surrounding buttons are easy and intuitive to use. I find I can use without taking my eyes off of the road. It is touchscreen with apple carplay and android auto. Again…very simple. Not sure what he wants out of a system.
Me either. It’s easy to use and does what we need.
Kindly tell me how the radio is completely turned off. Not simply muted only to come back on when the car is re-started. Can't figure it out. Thank you!
THAT HARD PLASTIC IN CX50'S BACK DOORS FOR $45K VEHICLE IS REDICLULS
Which one has more ground clearance and would therefore be a better option for snow.
How can I tell if a certain car has cylinder deactivation?
Bought CX-50 non Turbo Gt -Canadian.
Love it
CX-5 needs a few vents up front snd black out thr chrome
Nah…that’s what separates it from every other look-alike out there. I think the “clean” front makes the car look classy.
Preferred plus cx-50 *chef's kiss*
All I will say about wanting a hybrid, is check with your insurance company for rates before you buy one. I'm talking from personal experience.
The 0% APR is what made my decision to get the CX-50 also the panoramic moonroof is beautiful.
IMO, the CX50 competes with the RAV4 while the CX5 is for buyers looking for something more stylish. Amazing how the CX5 design has held up so well.
I don't have the cx50 option in my country but even if the option was available, I'd stlil go with the CX5 cause I like the interior better and prefer a more comfortable ride
Was liking the CX-50 right up until the hard plastics in the back row.
Have a 2020 CX5 grand touring. It's small. My son is 6'3 (long legs) and not alot of headroom or legroom. It sounds like the 50 doesn't have comfortable second row seat for long trips? Not sure what I'd choose.
cx 70 90
You guys, I wanted so badly to love the CX-5! I almost bought it sight unseen, but the driver’s seat was so cramped and uncomfortable! At 5’1”, bottom seat cushion is too long for my legs. The power seats don’t tilt forward to alleviate this. The driver’s leg space is also very narrow, adding to the cramped feeling. I just couldn’t get comfortable. I even test drove it 3 different times trying to convince myself I could get used to it😢.
The CX-50 feels so much more comfortable and spacious even with the bottom “cushion” being hard and flat.
I agree, the seats are a problem.. Hoping the seats will be rectified with the redesign next year along with Hybrid option.
so you are saying that you only needed a booster seat right ?
My wife is also 5’ and had the exact issue with the cx5 seat. Night and day difference in the 50
@@timhawbaker3793 thanks for the reply. I’ve researched the CX 5 extensively and never see this mentioned. Did your wife end up purchasing the CX50? I plan to test, drive it again. @@DuaneAnderson-ot1ri gosh, you’re so funny 🙄
Well, I purchased the 2024 CX5 signature, and regret it. It has a constant whine that is annoying and the speaker in the a pillar rattles. I've taken in it twice, still same disappointing results..I'm waiting to hear back from Mazda. I had a Mazda 6 signature the was much more quiet and was built better...I was very happy with it but needed an AWD. The 6 was a much better car in my opinion with better materials and I regret trading it for the CX5. I thought the 5 was more comfortable than the 50. My 6 had the same turbo engine....maybe a different vendor that is what I'm attempting to find out.
And, uh, to cut the cost.
you contradicted the wind noise in the cx 50s solo review
Thankyou, its a tough call for me i have the 2nd generation cx 5 that i like a lot but the cx 50 is nicely built. I first need to see the 2025 cx 5 before i make a final call 😮.
Based on the comments, it looks like many people prefer the C X-5. Maybe I missed it, but I don't think the review mentioned that the CX-5 has independent rear suspension while the 50 has a rear torsion bar.
If they didn't, some in the comments section did.
I like the front of the 50 more, but I don't care for the black over the wheels.
Mazda needs to drop the BLACK Plating …it fades over time looks cheap !
( why so much cladding?) = CX50 is for off road use mud dirt gravel adventure that what its marketed as CX5 is a road car
Just my thoughts.
same here.. .hate the cladding looks so cheap & heat it fades esp in hot TX sun…😗
I think they made the CX-50 for all the US focus group consumers who said exactly what you did ("Love it! Now make it wider with more rear seat legroom and a more macho look"). Except when you add size, you can't hold the line on price unless you cut costs somewhere, since this car was probably meant to replace the CX-5.
what do u mean by "optional engine"?
We bought the cx5 mainly because the cx50 has cylinder deactivation. Something I’m not in favour of. Cheers. Max
I chose the CX50 and love it.
I traded my Honda CRV sport 2023 to Mazda CX 50 2024

@@DuaneAnderson-ot1ri lol great idea.
I’ll try that just for fun, but personally, I like the way it steers. 😃
Also be advised that Mazda responded to the complaints that the CX-50's steering was too heavy by lightening its effort for 2024. So it could also be that the complaints you heard simply didn't apply to the car you drove.
Love both, but I gotta say that the camera doesn't do the 50 justice. Every time I see it on the road I gotta do a double take.
For Mexico te price tags between CX-5 fully loaded and CX-50 only version make a considerable difference... About $6K.
I see that's an artificial differentiation as if they belong to totally different segments.
What if you don't want a turboo which will cost you?
Then you don't buy a turbo?
