my favorite metallica album. masterpiece...just so intensely produced. its a non-stop no holds barred kickass album. just perfection at it's best,in my opinion.
I think the reason this album is so good is because it's come from a really personal, raw place for James, and you can feel himself putting everything into it.
Just because its completely different from their original style. People didnt really like Load or Reload that much either. If this was a debut album for some random band, I bet I would have been a hit.
The hate especially came from cunty and whinny metal heads. Close-minded fuckers who can’t get over the sound of a drum snare. I enjoyed it when it came out, and I still do. It has some flaws (some tracks are way too long for instance) but I admire the daring/in your face aspect of it.
I am still trying to figure out how Lars has enough stamina to even survive playing this song so hard for so long?!! 7 minutes of drumming punishment. Still one of the greatest metal songs of all time! Well done boys.
I don´t care what you think, this song is the best production since "Black album". One more thing, Lars Ulrick proved his ability as one of the greatest drummers ever!! And hey, they are not getting any younger...
I wouldn't say he's the worst drummer ever. His style fits the Metallica sound in my opinion. He's no Tomas Haake or Danny Carey, but I think his style fits the sound well. Metallica doesn't need a completely insane drummer to be good.
This is before they fucked it up. On the actual record it seems like they layered a detuned snare with the snares off over this. This recording sounds fine
Damn, 2006? This went live on here when RUclips was still brand new, when the St. Anger controversy was still fresh in people's minds and up for debate in the Middle Schools and Hot Topic stores that existed at the time. I feel that the gap between what the album was hyped to be and how highly the press and the band themselves spoke of it at the time VS. what it actually is has lessened over time. We're not kids anymore expecting Justice Part 2 so we can take it for the flawed piece of work it is and appreciate that there even WAS a Metallica to record these songs. Yes, shorter song structures and more robust production would've done this material wonders and probably would've been better liked by the Thrash purists and even the MTV crowd of the time, but after 15 years this LP still stands out and stands alone in Metallica's repertoire as something unique. These days I see mostly love in these comments, St. Anger may never get respect but I proudly wear that medallion noose to this very day.
I fockin' love the drums here. Well, I like the drums in the album too. But here just sound so powerful and brutal. Oh, dude, I just fucking love the entire album. Fuck off all the Lars/St. Anger haters. HAIL METALLICA! lml
I'm a hiphop head but If you don't respect this performance from all band members you can't appreciate good music. Lars was a beast and this performance cemented his legacy as a drummer God. When the future asks who is the GOAT. Lars Ulrich's name will be in that conversation.
I´m not that much of a real Metallica fan but the "St. Anger" Album is absolutely pure and rock the shit out. As I´ve bought and watched "Some kind of monster" I was totally fascinated by the portrait of the band and the origin of this album. You can hear the emotional chaos they had in every note. But they did it - and this means respect for the whole band. Cheers mates.
people dont like metallica because they compare him with better musicians like tool and other stuff but you dont need to compare i think they got their own stuff thumbs up for this
Do you want any solos? Then listen to others albums :) .. Do you want to hear heavy devastation and listen to destroying the world? then listen to ST.ANGER!! /,,/ ... love this album!!
THANK YOU! About time someone gets my point/s. Im just sick of people, who have no clue about drums worshipping Lars. The guy just gets too much credit for what hes worth.
You know everyone complains about lars but honestly they got older and they cant play like they used to there still pretty good but not as good as they used to be, look at Dave Lombardo hes one of my all time favorites but he cant play like he used but hes still pretty good, age will do that to you everyones just too ignorant to realize that
Metallica (to me) is more about the songs rather than the individuals' talent levels anyway. They have the right blend of attitude to produce the sound so many people (including me) love.
I wont describe this album as heavy. It's raw. It's uncut. It's the raw emotion of Metallica following all of their individual dramas (save for Rob, I suppose). After you listen to it with that mindset, you'll appreciate it more.
Oh Rob was probably dying inside the whole time. Imagine being in one of the biggest metal bands in the world during that era, but everyone else is in their absolute worst moods lol. The atmosphere must've been heavy (a lot heavier than the album).
James must be a modern day musical genius! I did the math he had just turned 18 when the band was formed. He was writing song and already dominating the scene. He had only been playing the guitar for about four years. By the time he was the "ripe" ol' age of 22, his music was already seriously on the map. Furthermore, he's super handsome and looks DAMN good for being 45. James Alan Hetfield, you are fucking awesome!!
I don't know why people are hating on this album so much... This is when they finally went back to their thrash metal roots! After the black album they slowed down to radio style which was cool, but its like come on really?.... I think St.Anger is one of their best thrash metal albums and plus Lars was a drumming beast!! I had only one dislike about this album though there were no solos.. And I was pissed about that, but other than that... METALLICA IS FUCKING LEGIT!!!!!!
this album expresses perfectly what it means to express: ANGER. this doesnt include 2 minute solos and stuff. and the snare has to be like this. they knew what they were doing
I always tried to stay away from St Anger because of the bad press and didn't want it to ruin MetallicA for me. But recently bought it and It is brilliant! No idea why people hate it so much
Can someone help me find the name of a song? The chorus goes: I'll go with you somewhere I'll go with you no where I'll go with you someday, yeah The song is about 3:53 minutes long or something around that. This studio version is awesome by the way.
Because if you choke with the pedal, it depresses the entire cymbal, but if you choke with your hand, it still allows the back end of the cymbals to hit together, giving a shorter sizzle.
I don't understand why Metallica doesn't play more stuff from St. Anger. This album is amazing!
my favorite metallica album. masterpiece...just so intensely produced. its a non-stop no holds barred kickass album. just perfection at it's best,in my opinion.
I think the reason this album is so good is because it's come from a really personal, raw place for James, and you can feel himself putting everything into it.
00:36 that fun and joy in james face : best moment off all
lars god mode activated 0:46
dudleypunch101 God mode re-activated 2:43
dudleypunch101 rip ride cymbal
I wish he did that more
James Hetfield God mode activated 5:54
St. Anger album is really good no idea why the hate
aggre but at the time it came out we all understood the hate it's there elder lol
I’ll say it’s because the drum snare I personally like it
Just because its completely different from their original style.
Kelly .Ricciardi it’s the producing that is absolute bullshit. The Producing is horrible the actual musicality of the album is good.
I am still trying to figure out how Lars has enough stamina to even survive playing this song so hard for so long?!! 7 minutes of drumming punishment. Still one of the greatest metal songs of all time! Well done boys.
NPeart Rush Cocaine
Right? This song is so slept on and it's just plain nasty
Exist - A7X
15 minutes of pure technical beats and double bass
Nah isn't anything special. Listen to Bleed of Meshuggah or just some Decapitated (I mean the old formation with Vitec)
it's an average song at best. cringey lyrics.. sounds better than the album on this recording, ill give it that..
"Madly in Anger with you" the brilliance of these lyrics is obvious.
mY LiFe StYLe dEteRMiNeS mY dEAtH sTyLe
Not nearly as good of a lyric 😭
no solos, no mistakes :D
Every damn song on st.anger kicks ass!!! Its a great album!
I don't give a fuck what people say about Lars Ulrich. That guy is a fucking beast.
What ever other people think, i think this is a awesome song. And Lars has some great stamina!
I don´t care what you think, this song is the best production since "Black album". One more thing, Lars Ulrick proved his ability as one of the greatest drummers ever!! And hey, they are not getting any younger...
Man, this video brings me so many memories from my adolescence. It's insane how the years go by.
How does anyone honestly think lars is a bad drummer?
39120c half asses songs in concerts
I wouldn't say he's the worst drummer ever. His style fits the Metallica sound in my opinion. He's no Tomas Haake or Danny Carey, but I think his style fits the sound well. Metallica doesn't need a completely insane drummer to be good.
@@vapordreams983 Well said 👍
Napster and bandwagoning
184 people need to set there anger free
Love the snare tbh prob one of the best sounding ones and The Drum God has came
This is before they fucked it up. On the actual record it seems like they layered a detuned snare with the snares off over this. This recording sounds fine

Sick song and I love the drumming, so relentless and fast :)
I fockin' love the drums here. Well, I like the drums in the album too. But here just sound so powerful and brutal. Oh, dude, I just fucking love the entire album. Fuck off all the Lars/St. Anger haters. HAIL METALLICA! lml
Metallica back to their roots. Fucking awesome
This video plus the other video tracks on the album came as a bonus DVD with certain copies of the St. Anger CD album
Yup I had them

LET'S FUCKING GO.
Makes me want to bash my head through a fucking wall
I'm a hiphop head but If you don't respect this performance from all band members you can't appreciate good music. Lars was a beast and this performance cemented his legacy as a drummer God. When the future asks who is the GOAT. Lars Ulrich's name will be in that conversation.
awesome.. I really appreciate this song and also album when I´m pissed off, no neccesary solos, just pure anger and aggression with raw sound
I´m not that much of a real Metallica fan but the "St. Anger" Album is absolutely pure and rock the shit out. these guys are one of my favorite band because the st anger got me through some of the tough times of my life when things where bad
some lady told me that the sounds of the forest is very relaxing , so i had to say that metallica music calms me down is that wierd
people dont like metallica because they compare him with better musicians like tool and other stuff but you dont need to compare i think they got their own stuff thumbs up for this
Do you want any solos? Then listen to others albums :) .. Do you want to hear heavy devastation and listen to destroying the world? then listen to ST.ANGER!! /,,/ ... love this album!!
I love how they always play it a little faster than it should be. METALLICA FOREVER!!!
this album's riffs are better than of Death Magnetic
This album has a lot of personality. But DM is a masterpiece! without comparison
Idk bout that bro St anger has grown on me but DM is a throwback to their old sound but I don’t wanna say better than DM riffs
Agreed. St. Anger is a better album
I don't compare them, they're very different
THANK YOU! About time someone gets my point/s. Im just sick of people, who have no clue about drums worshipping Lars. The guy just gets too much credit for what hes worth.

Awesome song one of the best songs off St.Anger. This song gets me pumped and hyped up. Love this song!!!!!!! METALLICA FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Linkin Park is a good band, and I enjoy their music. That being said, Metallica is way better and much more memorable.
Damn I love it everytime he kicks it to overdrive after the clean part at 4:35.
this is fucking awesome, this is fucking thrash metal, Lars killed it here(even though he looks like he's about to die at the end haha)
LOVE THIS SONG,,,, I LISTEN TO THIS SONG TO TAKE MY ANGER TOOO.
Is that Lars or Eminem?
i just love it no matter what anyone else say about it ..
The album St. Anger is all riff, all day
6:45 Just when you thought they were playing at level 10, they crank it to 11....I will forever love this band
They should re-record the album and make kirt shred out some solos
Thats a genius idea
My favorite Metallica song ever. So there.
I actually want to see Lars play this song this year
Here watch?v=GudYotg4dgI
I love that "Garage Band" sound they have here!
James Edward, you need profesional help bro.
Metallica (to me) is more about the songs rather than the individuals' talent levels anyway. They have the right blend of attitude to produce the sound so many people (including me) love.

I love this fucking song and album. I think eventually everyone realized it was fucking godly. The kings of metal
this sounds sooo good when played full blast
I wont describe this album as heavy. It's raw. It's uncut. It's the raw emotion of Metallica following all of their individual dramas (save for Rob, I suppose). After you listen to it with that mindset, you'll appreciate it more.

Literally some of the only footage I can find of Lars playing fast double bass.
i'm glad other people really do enjoy that album because i thought most peple didnt ....and i really like the raw energy of it!!
one of the best intros ever
i love the studio version ♥
can't say I like this song, but that intro is hell awesome!
yeah, anger is truly a gift
Darth Balrog was here. And he was overwhelmed by the cleverness and power of the Metallica. May their anger never fade.
These guys have incredible stamina to play song length averages of 5-10 minutes. No matter what style they play they still kick ass. Legends.
Daaaaamn this sounds amazing
St. Anger! Yeah! Love the anger...love the St Anger!!!!!
this is such a heavy song. love it.
I love how liberally Lars used the ride on this album; the 22 K dark has a beastly sound that just beats the shit out of my ears. So awesome.
I don't know why people are hating on this album so much... This is when they finally went back to their thrash metal roots! i love the snare sound
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

this album expresses perfectly what it means to express: ANGER. this doesnt include 2 minute solos and stuff. and the snare has to be like this. they knew what they were doing
I like this album:)
I love the drums on this album !
I always tried to stay away from St Anger because of the bad press and didn't want it to ruin MetallicA for me. But recently bought it and It is brilliant!
No idea why people hate it so much
starting from 0:36 till 0:58 : a moment of perfect sounding chaos :)
Can someone help me find the name of a song? The chorus goes:

I'll go with you no where
I'll go with you someday, yeah
The song is about 3:53 minutes long or something around that. This studio version is awesome by the way.
