Helicopters above you and a sea of humans right in front you and you the front man of THE GREATEST BAND in the Planet....James must have felt like a God.
Sofaki Metall I was born in 96 what you talking about, Born the day pac died. The only Concerts I'm going to go to is the hologram 1s because all the Legends are pretty much dead.
One of the best live performances ever, no question. What I would give to have been there (but I was 6 years old)... I'm not even into heavy metal and I can recognize this as one of the most epic moments in musical history... Holy fuck.
where i live, when they teach you at schools the fall of the USSR, they take an example of the first Mc Donalds build in Moscow. But I believe that this video and more specifically at 1:27, when you see that soldier with no cap on and dancing to the music. Thinking that Metallica could bring so many people on the same place in Russia. That's a better example of the end of the Cold War, in my opinion (sorry for the potato english ).
1970DRT this was a monsters of rock tour. Although this was when metallica were the dominant band and in there prime. I wouldn't be surprised if 75% of the crowd were there for metallica
When I die this song is going to be played when my casket gets lowered down From the beginning to end , with a carving on the side that says fuck Justin Bieber 🙏🏻☺️
People put too much politics in the comments. It was just a concert of the most popular band in the biggest European city after decades of the iron curtain. Nobody won the cold war. Nobody invaded Russia.
Found Metallica 6 years ago and this song/video was the first song I ever heard! Still, love it today! And i was to my first Metallica concert 27th of March in Denmark! Love it !!
This was actually one of the first music clips I watched, in the early days of my RUclips viewing (so *very* long ago, now lol!) - the hair, man- the hair! And seeing that soldier swinging a shirt around, like he's not on duty or anything, that got me - it's a bit naive to say it now, perhaps, but it felt like a revelation- that people could share these amazing experiences & share stuff from ages ago, to be appreciated by a fresh audience; in '91 I was about 7/8 years old!
i don't know why but when the drums start beating @1:13 i have a vision of them working on some massive tank engine trying to get it to start - the guitars is like the engine turning over, the drums when they skip a beat like @1:26 is like when the engine is spluttering and mis-firing and the more they keep trying the more it sounds like it is going to start until suddenly @1:49 "BOOM" the engine fires into life with a huge fireball from the exhaust and @1:50 the swinging hair is the engines huge cooling fan at max revs, now they are ready for Battle
that is the same year that USSR fell apart and all of these people havent ever heard of metallica before and didnt even know the lyrics. They seem like they are having the time of their lives
Yes the russian people knew of Metallica and actually requested that they come play in Russia back in 1991 so Metallica did and the result was the largest concert crowd in history i have the whole concert on a video i bought back in the early 90's.Metallica toured Russia in 2012.The USSR fell apart in 1989.
greatriffishere Sorry, but not just russian people. You should remember that not russian and not even slavic nations were forced to join the union. :) No hard feelings
Did you think USSR was on Mars? Of coarse we knew of Metallica and other metal bands. Didnt know the lyrics? We were taught English in school and after time and dedication could transcribe and translate the lyrics. Even in the 70s my mom was able to get bootleg Beatles and Queen albums.
Dios mio!!!! concierto epico y inolvidable ; si hubiera una maquina del tiempo sin duda iria a este concierto y verlos de cerquita para decirles que los amooooo
facts BTS held 46 concerts in many countries and the total attendence was over 1.5 million "ALL together" Whereas Mettalica did 1 concert and the attendance was over 1.6 million people you need to know the difference between which is lame and which is real music
Hi there, I'm not here to fight or anything, I just wanted to say that as a fan of BTS and many rock classics that I dont really see the point in bashing others for the type of music they like, or saying how many people attended thier concerts, and if it's lame or not. My point is, just enjoy your music without the need to downplay what others enjoy, so anyways, I hope you have a great day, and just think about what I'm saying.
Iron Maiden, Judas priest, etc etc.. Not gone.. Metallica watch and learn a craft.. I Love Metallica great band but Maiden, priest way before, Metallica learn from them....
Jack Taylor This concert roster reached as high as 1.6 million people. The highest amount of people at any given time were 500,000. That’s almost the triple the amount of people living in the city I live in. In one air field. It’s fucking insane
Achmad: What a great world we could have if everybody in it listened to this kind of music! I'm a 68 year old man, born in Ohio, USA, and now living in Central Anerica because trump is such a fucking asshole I can't stand him. So I'm screaming with James! Were you from, Achmad?

***** watch Iron Maiden at rock in rio 2001.
+Sullen Demigod Yes. And many of those have been detonated. Just not used in war or to actually, you know, kill people.
Agree 100 %.
1.6 million people screaming, one of the largest concerts ever! Probably the greatest live performance in metal history.

1.- The hair of Lars
2.- The voice of James

Concert held at an airfield, that's how big the concert was. One of the largest concerts in history.
Holy shit
I can't process that...that's to much people
Only Metallica can have 70 millions views on a 240p video
with 221k likes and only almost 5k dislikes :D
bodynible and those 5k are accidental clicks ;)
Yep. That`s right ;)
bodynible when you get to be so popular people will hate you, its the nature of popularity.
correction, 83 millions and still counting..
History was made and thus the Soviet Union dissolved... Thank You Metallica...
Hey, do you follow the events in Crimea? round 2 is coming up :P
top lel I had a bad feeling about that. But Putin better make some decent choices with Crimea...
top lel Metallica is just going to play there and blow the Russians collective mind.

jason's windmill headbanging entrance always gives me goosebumps
I take off my hat for the intro of Morricone
Imagine how many years ago.. and people are still commenting till today.. holy shit.

Countrys may be on the borderline of war. But music can bring everyone together
this should be taught in schools history class
the entire school might go crazy for this really, its just toooooo impressive
You don't really get to see a gig like this now m, everything is so commercial and expensive, those times were different.
People are different too.
