Hey, I'm considering getting the straight edge version of this knife but wanted to ask first: Have you had any issues with carbon fiber handles like these on EDC knives before? I've only ever used full titanium framelock and I'm a little worried about it possibly chipping or something, as I understand it can be brittle. Thank you!

I just got my QSP Rhino all black version on the 3rd this week. Paid $382 for it and had a similar feeling about if I had spent to much or not. But after carrying it for 5 days it still brings a smile to my face every time I use it! Love your content MC.

I like that the DLC version doesn’t have billboarding on the blade, but I agree that the price seems high for a blacked out variant.
Almost had a seizure when you said they had a black Anax for sale, but they were sold out. Suffered extreme disappointment but at least my bank account didn’t suffer.

The problem I have with finding a socom bravo is that the regular ones aren't very hard to find but microtech makes way to many of these knives with serrated edges or partially serrated edges and they are in stock literally everywhere bc obviously no one wants them like that lol. Why not make more socom bravos with a regular edge and only a few with serrated edges? Idk doesn't make sense to me. Why not give the people what they want and are willing to pay you for? That goes for akot of knife companies lol. It seems they never want to give their buyers what they actually want a lot of times and itll never make sense to me.
6:35 I don't know how it historically been with Microtech, but if you want a "Shadow" version where the small parts are Cerakoted, that's about $50 more while the full DLC line this guy seems to run the $150ish extra (at least this year).
Maybe the extra dlc cost has to do with the fact it’s not just the blade? I’m no expert just a thought

I just picked up the black Bravo. I own 2 originals, a tanto and a plain edge so I had to add it!! Absolutely love that knife!!
I work for a company that used to be a MT dealer. I thought the original version was such a cool knife but I could never get over the tip down carry. It was a turd in the punch bowl that I couldn't get over.

That's a sweet knife. For everyone wanting one but can't find one, y'all need to look up some knife modders or go to way of knife bc they can cerokote the everything on the knife to black it out just like the socom bravo in this video. You'd definitely have to pay probably upwards of 100 bucks but it can definitely be done if you want a blacked out socom bravo bad Enough lol
Prefer the drop point but the only place that has one left are asking $680! Tanto $450 both would be plus import tax.

Just ordered the drop point from microtech gear, looking forward to recieving it. I was going back n forth debating if I wanted to actually sel d the $450 for it. I did, I wont regret it, have been looking for a socomm non Serrated for a while now, probably would have gotten the tanto if it was an option but the drop point design for these are wicked!
So I just managed to get this and it is a wonderful knife, im not even that upset about the price point although I do agree a bit on the high side, but yolo. I had the hardest time tring to figure out how to open it, I know that sounds dumb, theres a giant thumb stud. In my expirience with mine its a very specific motion to open it smoothly, also you cant ride the frame lock or you will be Frustrated beyond belief. After destroying my thumb I finally was able to open and close it 30 or so times before putting it away. Highly recomend if you like this to grab one if you can, I was lucky and just randomly looked it up, just to see of anywhere had it. Microtechgear had it, was sold out the next day. Love the content as always, I feel silly with my issues opening this one but I figure I would share. Still cant spidey flick, Im working on it. Have a good weekend allz!!

I wonder whats more durable - DLC (Diamond-Like Coating) versus PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition)
DLC. In the Gun world, DLC resists holster wear a lot better and longer then PVD.
I still prefer PVD to a coating like Cerakote, but you'll still get surface scratches in both of them.

DLC is my favorite coating, looks awesome. It’s probably not worthy but I just bought the all dlc bexar slip joint.
I love mine but I do wish the Pivot collar was gold 😊

I have the satin one, and always wondered by they didn't do a version with DLC on the flats. This is cool but man, the regular one is already stupid expensive.
I love my SOCOM Bravo so much. The regular one. My ONLY complaint is that it came unacceptably dull! It's a Microtech FFS! Any MY I've ever had experience with has been sharp as all get out...except this one. But that's an easy fix. Otherwise it's one of my favorite knives.

Generally speaking it feels like Microtechs tend to have weak edges on them. My Ultratech and Troodon were both more dull than 90% of knives I've ever gotten. It feels like they mmake them razor sharp near the tip then training knife in the bottom 75%

There really awesome I got the tanto also and actually the only thing I don't like about it is the big thick gauty pocket clip I wish to get a deep carry and not so boxed and thick rather like something big mount and deep carry titanium skull or something like that

Dang I REALLY want the DLC Anax. That lanyard hole on the Bravo kinda ruins the aesthetic for me but other than that it looks awesome.

I recently got a socom elite and the detent is soooo strong it’s almost exclusively a two hand opener. Have been opening it over and over trying to break it in with a little bit of success

@@Mike-mi3yw I hear ya. You can take it apart and clean out all the oil with rubbing alcohol. But I know that feeling of disappointment. Spent $495 on an Olamic wayfarer 24/7 and it has a very late detent. The blade needs to be almost halfway closed before you can shake it shut. Sent it in and came back the same way.

Products made in China should cost much less to produce than comparable U.S.-made items. That means that profit margins should be higher. And that's about as far as I want to delve into that topic, aside from saying that I wouldn't pay that much for a "Made in China" knife.

Has the SoCom ever been produced as a flipper?
Which SOCOM? The Alpha is fixed blade only while they make the Elite in a Automatic and a Manual flipper with a liner or frame lock (can't remember which).

@@Josh-Hez WE/Civivi/Sencut are well made. The elementum is a solid edc, I wouldn't worry about it holding up over time. I own quite a few and only have had one issue with one of the original WE's, and the warranty experience was excellent.
Pretty universally loved, if a bit boring.
This may be the only company I may knowingly buy a clone. Cool knife. Even though I don't generally like non-flippers, the drop point, with Ti bolsters and sweet carbon fiber does call out to me.
I got one, it's awesome love the completely blacked out look.

I am going to disagree with you on this being a thousand plus if they make it America. Not only are there several manufacturers that show otherwise but you can have literal USA made customs for less than a thousand. It would certainly be more expensive if made in the USA that is true and I take no issue with the Chinese manufacturers but there is no way microtech would have to charge a thousand.
